00:00Hello there, welcome to your latest forecast from the Met Office.
00:04A brief ridge of high pressure today gives a settled picture for most of us.
00:07However, it's all changed for the week ahead.
00:10Atlantic weather systems will move in, particularly across the north and the west.
00:13The jet stream always nearby, some heavy rain in the forecast, some stronger winds too,
00:18always driest towards the south and southeast as we move through the week.
00:22And with winds generally coming in from a southerly direction, temperatures will remain above average.
00:28So the details for Sunday as we move through into the afternoon with that high pressure across us,
00:34plenty of dry weather, some sunny spells, but a different picture across southern parts of Wales
00:39into the west country, a cloudy day to come here with some outbreaks of rain breezy around the coast,
00:45but for most of us winds lighter compared to yesterday.
00:48Temperatures on the face of it similar, 13 to 17 Celsius, but with those lighter winds,
00:54some sunny spells around less showers compared to yesterday as well.
00:58It will just feel a little less chilly.
01:00As we move into the evening time, the cloud and rain across the southwest just slowly pushes further north
01:06and eastwards, largely affecting western areas as we head overnight.
01:10Some rain and drizzle, murky conditions developing around the coast.
01:14The clearest skies holding on across eastern parts, so the chance of seeing the aurora again,
01:19particularly across northern England into northeast Scotland.
01:22Tonight, rather cloudy in the west, will mean limited viewing here.
01:27And a divide in temperatures as well across the west.
01:30Temperatures holding up in double figures under the clear skies in the east, six or seven degrees.
01:34And not quite as cold as last night for most of us.
01:37But it does mean on Monday morning, a grey damp start across western areas.
01:42This cloud and rain slowly pushing eastwards, limiting any sunshine in the east as the skies become grey here.
01:49And then for most of us, a cloudy day to come.
01:51Outbreaks of rain pushing north and eastwards, something more persistent across northern Ireland and western Scotland.
01:57Fairly gusty winds around the coasts.
01:59And it may just help break the cloud up a little bit across central southern areas.
02:04And a mild air mass across the whole of the UK.
02:06High dew points, so a muggy feel out there.
02:09Temperatures mid to high teens locally getting into the low 20s if we do see any brighter breaks trying to
02:15develop.
02:16But I think they'll be quite fleeting.
02:17And then into the evening time, further persistent rain and strong winds move across parts of Northern Ireland and Scotland.
02:24And overnight as well elsewhere, a very mild night to come Monday night into Tuesday morning.
02:29Temperatures could be in the mid-teens in places.
02:33Looking at the week ahead, generally does stay rather changeable.
02:37There'll be bands of rain and showers pushing through.
02:39Perhaps Wednesday being a drier day overall.
02:42Always wettest and windiest towards the northwest of the UK.
02:46Temperatures likely to remain above average.
02:49And more details on the weather for the week ahead, you can find on our social media channels and our
02:54website as well.
02:56See you again soon.
