00:13Thing is, after a few conversations, sister came down.

00:36And then she snuck in behind this family of six.

01:19I sat at the bar because I did not want to interfere with you and your sister in your conversation.

01:30Yeah, so this has all been pretty surreal to me because for 40 years I've been, I knew that I had a birth family out there.
01:37And now that we're face-to-face, we had been messaging for a while.
01:40So I sat with Amy and we just talked a little bit about our backgrounds and what we want from this where I do think we will end up having a really good relationship, friendship as this goes on.
01:51But we're sitting there.
01:52She's looking at her phone.
01:54Of course, I'm already emotional.
01:55I had five mimosas that day plus the Patron shot you made me do.
02:00And she's looking at her phone and she's like, my dad wants to come.
02:04And I'm like, okay.
02:05And I think he was driving by.
02:07Well, he ended up coming and this would be my biological dad.
02:10Yeah.
02:10He pulled in the parking lot and sat there for 20 minutes.
02:13And then he walked in.
02:15He's 6'4".
02:16I'm 5'9".
02:17So now I know where I get my height from.
02:19But he immediately hugged me and had tears in his eyes.
02:23And he sat with us.
02:25And out of respect, because they haven't told anyone.
02:28They have a huge family here in Michigan.
02:30They haven't told anyone.
02:31Which is now your family, by the way.
02:32Right, which is now my family.
02:34And they're talking about reunions and weddings and stuff we might go to together.
02:36But I don't want to say too much about him until they tell everyone.
02:41But he looked at me every time and had tears in his eyes.
02:45And I'm like, what are you crying for?
02:47And he's like, I just feel bad that I haven't known you all these years.
02:51And I'm like, well, don't feel bad.
02:52I've had an amazing life.
02:54My mom, Alice, raised me.
02:55She's unbelievable.
02:56The best thing that's ever happened to me.
02:59And I said, so don't feel bad.
03:00Because I turned out great.
03:02And now we can build a relationship from here.
03:04But every time he kept looking at me with tears in his eyes.
03:07He wanted my number.
03:08He said he wants to be in my life.
03:10He actually demanded.
03:11He's like, you will be in my life.
03:13And I'll wait for him to reach out.
03:16Amy and I texted all day yesterday.
03:18So I already think we're on the path to that.
03:19But it's surreal to me.
03:21And I keep saying the word crazy.
03:23And I'm not sure that that really addresses everything.
03:25But it is really surreal to me that this all happened so fast.
03:29Like, what's it been a month?
03:31Yeah.
03:31And I'm already sitting face to face with my half sister and biological dad.
03:36And I had dinner with my mom, Alice, last night, Detroit public school teacher, 37 years, the best lady ever.
03:42And she said, are you sure this is real?
03:45And I think that she's being protective of me to make sure I don't get my feelings hurt.
03:49But we have plans to all meet in October.
03:53The first week in October, we'll probably drive down to Cincinnati.
03:56I will bring my mom, Alice, and my husband, Jeff, and my son, Reese.
04:00And we'll just see where this goes.
04:02But it's insane.
04:03And it's wonderful and surreal and crazy and emotional all wrapped into one.
04:09And my weekend was, like, after that.
04:11That's all I've really been thinking about.
