00:00Roy jumped on the phone with us, surprised us today, and...
00:05And by phone, you mean microphone.
00:07Yes.
00:08Yeah, no, I'm here. You can hear me. How does it sound from Cincinnati?
00:12It sounds just fine, dude. Sounds like you're in the studio with us.
00:15Sounds nasty.
00:16Yeah, it sounds perfect. Do you hear that, Beasley Media Group? I can do it from here.
00:21You see?
00:22Well, Roy, you brought something up. You said something that I thought was so outlandish this morning.
00:28And after you said it, we got a ton of text messages basically backing up your theory.
00:34You said that you think...
00:36Diet Dr. Pepper is different in Ohio than it is in North Carolina.
00:42Now, how is that a thing? It's a national chain.
00:45It's the same company.
00:46It's a national company. Does that mean that the Jeep that I drive here in North Carolina is different than the Jeep I would drive in Oregon?
00:54Well, there might be some truth to that. Like, if you drive a Jeep closer to the beach, you're wear and tear, and the maintenance on your vehicle would be different than a Jeep in Montana.
01:03I guess so. But I mean, it's bottled by the same company. It goes through the same process.
01:08No, it's not. You said that the bottle is different, right?
01:11Yes. So the bottles here in Ohio are very skinny bottles, almost like the bottles you find at Walmart.
01:20Whereas when I go to Publix or the Teeter in North Carolina, they were fatter bottles.
01:25And the taste is different. There's not as much carbonation.
01:29Can anyone else confirm this?
01:31704-570-9595.
01:33We don't have a ton of time, and we can't spend a ton of time on Diet Dr. Pepper.
01:36It's the one thing I haven't talked about in two months on the radio show.
01:39Well, it's becoming my least favorite soda now.
01:43That's unbelievable. It was your favorite soda to the point where you would hoard it out of the vending machine here.
01:48It's not the same taste. I now maybe only have one a day.
01:52Someone texted in and said, Roy, Dr. Pepper is different in Ohio than it is in NC, and also Sundrop is too.
01:59I don't know how to explain it. It's just like, it feels like I'm drinking flat Diet Dr. Pepper here.
02:05Is it like exposure to the sun versus like what you would get out of the vending machine here because it's dark?
02:11Sometimes when I buy a pack of Diet Dr. Pepper, so this is going to sound weird.
02:15Is it like when you go to the grocery store and you're filling your fruits and you're trying to find which is the best fruit to pick?
02:19Yes.
02:20Okay, I do that with the Diet Dr. Peppers.
02:23Do you see what bottles are the hardest?
02:26I do. I squeeze the bottles, which is the firmest bottle.
02:30I buy that one because that typically has the more carbonation, but I can't tell you how many times I've pulled multiple bottles of Diet Dr. Pepper off the shelf because there wasn't enough carbonation.
02:41I know I sound insane. I know I sound insane. When I called and complained, the girl thought I was insane.
02:46You called and complained?
02:48Yeah, he said that earlier.
02:49There's a number on the back. I said, it's just not the same. The bottling here, I was like, if there's quality assurance in Ohio for the bottling company of Diet Dr. Pepper, they really need to do a better job.
03:00Also, we called and complained on Twizzlers. Remember that? Yeah, I do remember.
03:04So this isn't the only number we called on the back of a package.
03:06No. This is the most Roy thing ever.
03:09Text messages coming in. Diet Dr. Pepper is independently owned and has bottling contracts with different companies across the U.S., so that makes sense.
03:17Different bottlers depending on the region, says 865.
03:21Amy in Iron Station says, Roy, you're doing it all wrong. Can Dr. Pepper is the only way to drink it.
03:27That's what I said to Roy. I was like, I can almost get on board because I like Diet Coke better out of the can than I do a screw top bottle.
03:36Danielle says that the Diet Dr. Pepper, she can't speak on that, but she does know that the brown M&Ms taste different than the other M&Ms in the bag.
03:45What? Go get me some M&Ms.
03:49I think it is in your head. That one might be in your head.
03:53These taste brown and that one tastes green.
03:58What about the beer? Does the beer and the wine taste okay out there?
04:03Yeah, the beer is great. Wine's great.
04:06Okay.
04:07You know, I really thought that maybe I would only like North Carolina beer because we would do such good beer there.
04:13There's good beer here, too.
04:15But yeah, no, I did the most Roy thing.
04:17I'm now no longer a Diet Dr. Pepper fan, and I'm trying to find a new soda.
04:21So you're a soda-free agent right now?
04:23Yeah, I'm a free agent on a lot of avenues.
04:26Free agent in radio, free agent in soda.
04:32Have you found a good restaurant in Cincinnati that you guys like?
04:37Yeah.
04:38So there's this Italian place in the city called Soto that we love.
04:42It's hard to get into.
04:43It's like you have to go four months in advance.
04:46Now you don't have that radio card to pull.
04:48Not at all.
04:50No one knows who I am here.
04:53Hi, I'm Roy Brown.
04:54Yeah, so are those two guys over there.
04:56Same first and last name.
04:58And then I even do the move.
04:59They're like, well, it's going to be about three hours for a table.
05:01I'm like, I'll wait.
05:03I'm sure something will.
05:04I think I'll just annoy you and stand.
05:06And where I live in Northern Kentucky, the closest restaurant to me is Taco Bell.
05:10So there's not really good restaurants in my immediate area.
05:14But in the city, yeah, I love it.
05:16I love it.
05:19A lot of people texting in.
05:21Miss you, Roy.
05:22Well, of course.
05:23We all do.
05:24We talk about you a lot, dude.
05:25I know.
05:26My name's still on the show.
05:27Freaks me out.
05:28You're senseless.
05:29It freaks me out.
05:30You guys will talk about me and then I'll get tweets.
05:32And I'm like, this is the weirdest feeling.
05:34But is it that shocking to you?
05:36I pretended my dog was still alive for about five years before I really let that go.
05:41I think your name's going to stay on the show for a minute.
05:43I'm in denial.
05:44Well, I'm glad you'll be more upset than me when they take my name off.
