00:08I'm thrilled about this recognition. I have been a member of SIGRE since the early 90s.
00:15I have been involved in many study committees and working groups and I'm really excited that
00:23the SIGRE colleagues, the evaluation committee of SIGRE has honoured me with this highest recognition
00:30of SIGRE, the SIGRE medal. SIGRE has played a very important role in my career. I have learned
00:36a lot from the technical knowledge of SIGRE. I have been able to transfer this knowledge
00:42also to my students and my colleagues and most importantly, I have made a number of important
00:47friends in SIGRE and I'm very pleased that I have been here.
01:00The energy transition is one of the biggest challenges of our generation, but it's also
01:05a great opportunity to develop a green, sustainable grid for future generations. So what is the
01:12challenge here? That we need to replace existing fossil fuel generation with clean, renewable
01:18and inverter-based resource generation that has different behaviours and this is a big
01:24challenge. People expect clean, sustainable electricity supply and business and industry
01:30expect reliable and secure electricity supply. And this could be conflicting and the challenge
01:38is to meet both objectives 24-7. So how could we prioritise and meet these deliverables? We need
01:46to invest, we need to create more innovation, accelerate innovation and we need to collaborate
01:52more. And this week here in Paris we all collaborated, we all talked together and we need to continue
01:59this momentum, we need to continue this initiative and when we go on Monday to our offices we need
02:04to keep talking. We cannot wait until two years when we meet here again. So let's do it together.
02:19COP31 is one of the multilateral platforms for the climate action and this year it will be hosted by
02:26Turkey and the energy transition will be the core of the COP31 and clean energy generation, energy technologies,
02:35grid flexibility and storage will be the main part to discuss for the climate action. And I would like
02:43to invite the whole Syria global community for the COP31 which will be the one of the main discussions
02:51bringing the head of states, government officials, international organizations and the NGOs together
02:58to discuss the future of fighting climate change. And it's also a good platform to show the determination of
03:08Turkey for the energy transition and the net zero objective for 2053.
