00:00Hi, I'm Nicole Shellykins. I'm a farmer and mental health social worker from BASS in South Gippsland,
00:05Victoria and I'm incredibly proud to be a finalist in the Wellbeing and Safety in Agriculture Award.
00:11I founded AgMind Australia because I think we need to do farmer mental health a little differently.
00:15After more than 20 years working in mental health and living and working on our own farm,
00:20I've seen that it's not enough to simply tell farmers to reach out when they're struggling.
00:24We need to take mental health conversations into agriculture, into our farming communities,
00:30our sheds, our events and the places farmers already are with the people they're already talking to.
00:35That's what AgMind does. Through our shed talks, community events and other programs,
00:41we give farmers practical tools to look after their own wellbeing, recognise when a mate might
00:46not be travelling so well and have the confidence to say something. For me, it's about making mental
00:51health part of the everyday conversations in agriculture long before someone reaches crisis.
00:56I'm incredibly honoured to have that work recognised by the Australian Agriculture Awards
01:01and very proud to be representing Victoria.
