00:0043% from the field, 29% from three in the first half today, 65% shooting, they hit 6
00:06of 11 from three, points off turnovers, points in the paint, two things Brianna Stewart brought up ahead of this
00:13game, they are executing.
00:15A little bit earlier, our own Allie LaForce had a chance to catch up with USA Basketball head coach Carol
00:19Lawson.
00:21Well coach, you talked a lot about applying the pressure defensively, forced 13 turnovers, what encouraged you on the defensive
00:26end?
00:26We're trying to be aggressive, I thought we came out with good energy, that was probably my most, I think
00:31I was most looking forward to, just with the early tip, you want to make sure you come out with
00:34the appropriate level of energy, and I thought we did that.
00:37Offensively, I thought it was, we had some good stretches where we were really efficient, we got some things to
00:42clean up defensively, you know, we'll do that at half, but I'm pleased with the start.
00:45Speaking of those things, yesterday at practice you mentioned the micro growth, how do you take a lead like this
00:49and really work on some personal things as a team?
00:52Yeah, it comes down to attention to detail and our focus, we're working on our schemes, we're working on our
00:56level of execution, regardless of what the score is or who you're playing against, there's a standard we have, and
01:01we need to continue to try and reach for that.
01:03So yeah, it's a high standard, and we want to play well in the second half.
01:06Thank you coach.
01:08Alright Allie, great stuff, Collier just hit at three, up to 13 points for Nafisa Collier on six of seven
01:14shooting.
01:15Allie, Carol Lawson, appointed head coach last fall, this is her first senior international tournament as head coach, Lely cans
01:28of three to respond on the other end.
01:30And that's what Hungry has done well, they've been fairly effective from the three-point line, especially when they've gotten
01:36some clean looks.
01:37And I do think that's interesting, just Kara talking to Allie about, in many ways too, it is about this
01:43USA team, the ways in which they are trying to test themselves to get to the standard they expect.
01:50Post-touch, Collier back out to Quay.
01:53And they missed the three off the left side.
02:00And that's the same as it is hearing from Renee and Tina and Lauren.
02:04In the course of the half, it's also you may look at this lead and see where things sit.
02:08USA, a strong start in the effort, but are they going to maintain this, even elevate that level of intensity,
02:15of energy, of how they're executing here in the second half, not playing to the score, but playing for how
02:21they want to perform?
02:26Recycled possession for Hungry.
02:30Juhasz reverses, box out Collier.
02:35She has most productive points scoring for Collier now in the tournament, 13 points.
02:42At 12 against Czechia last time out, Young fires.
02:47Nothing short.
02:53Takash Kish.
02:55Steward defends tightly.
02:58Steward is so tough defensively.
03:01There are so many areas that she does.
03:04The little things in her details with her footwork or strength.
03:09Steward gets hit to her and Catherine knock heads.
03:23See what happens right here.
03:25Oh, yeah.
03:28Agnes Studer.
03:31Hard hit.
03:35Face to face, head to head.
03:40Tudair did not compete for Hungry at the qualifiers back in March.
03:47She was not ready to go physically.
03:48She's in great shape now according to head coach Peter Viralp.
03:54Work inside by young and there is a foul
04:13Leading score for the United States at 11 points per game
04:19Steady she has been steady
04:22Come through and some clutch moments when needed
04:25Unrivaled basketball is back the fast-paced action-packed women's three
04:29features Collier Becker's gray and plenty more season three begins January 2027 on TNT true TV
04:40Real-life celebrity you you had a commercial for unrivaled that was
04:47Dropped yesterday the best decision they made was I'm in the passenger seat
04:51I'm not the driver of the unrivaled bus
04:55You could do both we appreciate when you got the keys to
05:01You haze bottled up by Stewart you've said it such a difficult
05:07Player to go against
05:09Gets downhill
05:12Navigating in the paint young
05:16Collier separates and hits
05:1915 for the piece of Collier tough and that's where she's just lived in the areas where she's so efficient
05:25She's doing that through the course of her career now. She's connecting
05:29With the level of consistency that we've always come to expect
05:37You mentioned this you know throughout the course of this tournament
05:41USA playing without Asia Wilson without Kelsey Plum
05:48Shovel pass to Collier
05:50He's just an added level of
05:54Responsibility and what's needed especially without a player in Asia Wilson that you would have expected USA would run so
06:00much through and rely on so much on
06:03Offense and defense
06:06Rim run by Ashish to look to begin her pro career at age 15. She's 28 years old for Hungary
06:15Stewart and
06:16There was contact
06:21Stewart sets over the line. She's one for two
06:25Even today Carol Lawson turned to Aliyah Boston first on the bench
06:30Angel Reese has amped up her productivity and there each game goes by so without Wilson
06:37That's a massive void but the depth of the front has been on display
06:41Yeah, and just the depth of this group as a whole and especially being able to
06:46Showcase that against a hungry team that that's their strength on the inside on the rebounding and
06:53And also kind of shorten the gap three year strengths are this is a hungry team that
06:57Leads this tournament in turnovers
07:00Not an area you want to be on top of and USA has capitalized on that in a big way
07:06so far
07:11Hungry commits about 22 per game. That's the most at the World Cup
07:18First minutes for Sonia Citron of the Washington Mystics in the WNBA
07:24We're talking about bigs to let's not forget what Kiki Iryafen that that Czechy game had 11 rebounds in 14
07:30minutes
07:32Bolsters the depth in that big room
07:36And I think that's where
07:40Knifing inside copper is fouled by Turok
07:44You want to talk about threading the needle we see this often from Chelsea Gray, but this is a great
07:49chemistry between these two
07:51And finding that area off the cut
07:55But that's where I think it's gonna be interesting to continue to watch and kind of the
07:59I'm sure line that Carol Lawson and this coaching staff are walking with this rotation with the line of big
08:05combinations because you want
08:06You still need to build the chemistry of this group as a whole
08:10What you're looking at who you're playing at who you're playing together?
08:13But this game given the way it's gone to this point Nate presents an opportunity to go a little bit
08:19deeper give some heavier minutes
08:22The latter part of the rotation
08:24Of which you mention a Kiki Iryafen or a Sonia Citron who's now in the game of what that looks
08:30like and get a feel
08:36Under six minutes to go third quarter
08:40USA by 34 in this quarterfinal
08:46The winner of this game faces the winner of Australia Spain that's later today on TNT sports
08:54Quadruple header on this quarterfinal Thursday
08:57Skip pass from great of Boston sends it back to Citron. They hum on the perimeter
09:01Copper a three
09:09What a job to do you to rotate this hungry defense and
09:14We find those clean looks but it seems like everyone's get their legs under I'm getting a little bit better
09:19of a rhythm here around the world execution
09:24Or defensive intensity by USA
09:26Okay
09:29Citron is down for the United States in little things you see
09:35Copper sprints as she saw citron down at the other end of the floor she sprints to go check on
09:40her
09:41We see this previous previous plays they were at the other end
09:45But once it was a dead ball once a whistle blow the those are the little things you want to
09:50talk about just an add to the team leadership
09:53What that means that type of stuff is important and just being a great teammate
10:15Contacted
10:15With citron's face
10:20She exit Clark checks in
10:28Well, that's frustrating just checked in minute into the ball game and
10:33Keep tabs on citron status
10:40Collier gets the hot potato back mr. Payking cleaned up by Boston
10:46Keep coming at you
10:49Eight points for aliyah Boston
10:53Ball movement hungry
10:55Ball movement hungry
10:56Execution inside by Kinga Yosilpovic
11:00In for Carol Lawson telling Elliot the half of defensively something to clean up Clark the bounce Collier the lay
11:08-in
11:08looking pretty
11:09On both of us
11:15Seventeen points for the piece of Collier five assists for Clark
11:20And that's a miss shot, but there's been a handful of opportunities in situations for hungry where they're just getting
11:25to the basket too easily
11:28Or moving through the defense
11:30high-low
11:32Boston to Collier who's had her breakout game in Berlin
11:3819
11:3919
11:40For the visa Collier on 9 of 13 shooting will step aside from Berlin arena all USA in this quarter
11:47-final matchup
11:48Bobby right that folks all the way of me that folks all the way in the giga-tell is for
11:53You know, it doesn't have a problem. I make better me is a
12:06Hungary is not only in its first FIBA World Cup since
12:101998 but their first quarterfinals for the first time in 40 years going back to 1986 they actually met the
12:19United States
12:20In that World Cup USA 3-0 all-time against Hungary
12:24It's looking like 4-0 with their execution today the visa Collier 19 points to match a USA
12:31Single game high in this year's tournament Brianna Stewart had 19 last game. We have not seen a 20-point
12:36score for the United States
12:37And we're still we can still got about four minutes left here in the third quarter
12:42So a lot of time I think you would set this before we went to the break
12:46To meet a big number of that is nine of 13 from the field to go with six rebounds
12:52And not yet seen a 20-point score, but I think you look at USA five players are averaging eight
12:57or more points
12:59We've talked about Jackie young being the leading scorer to this point at just over 11 that to me speaks
13:05to the balance of this USA team
13:07What you've come to expect why there's such a
13:10Challenging team to try to defend because of the amount of weapons
13:13They have and how unselfish they are in the way they share the basketball
13:19Takash Kish the triple handoff Aho
13:23Takash Kish missed the jumper box out clean up and blocked by Boston
13:30There are no chaperones in sight it's fully young and turnt on the floor in Berlin
13:37Leah Boston doing a great job
13:40Just tracking this ball coming off
13:43Said her name alive the presence she's brought on the inside
13:49Good size here on the floor for USA
13:52Clark, Beckers, Howard, Reese, and Iriafen your five on the floor first minutes for Iriafen today
13:58Takash Kish
14:00Knocks down the J
14:06Hungry a little banged up in this game Aho did return Clark sidestep three
14:11It's at one triple today the pursuit of the basketball by Reese
14:15Oh
14:17You want to talk about motor
14:21Little things extra possessions
14:25Ryan Howard another one you add to the list she's had a really nice start
14:30Here for USA seven points taking just three shots but her activity on the defensive side
14:37Her ability to push and there's Angel Reese
14:40Doing what she does creating another opportunity in possession for her team
14:47USA capitalizing big and
14:51Peter Verlinde knows it you know this group knew they were up against a massive challenge
14:58The USA has set the tone early here in this one and sustained the level of effort
15:05Without a doubt it's been their top to bottom best shooting day as a country
15:11USA 62 percent from the floor 53 percent from deep 9 of 17
15:22Isopovich forms a wall against Iriafen
15:26Pezzi by beckers navigates the paint a whistle from Clark into Reese power dribble extra beckers to howard oh yeah
15:36Everybody's getting touches for red white and blue pop pop pop that ball is moving
15:43An excellent job for USA and you hit the hot hand again and howard
15:49Reckby lays it in
15:54If you see carol often her activity on the sideline
15:59Hungry is going to score, but if you're usa those are the small details of the response right after you
16:05make a basket
16:06area fan into the blender
16:09Reese
16:12halted at the rim by tapish quiche
16:16Well, that's the test now right you have a big lead of 43
16:20Attention to detail. How do they stay sharp? Reese the steel shovels to Clark and lays it in
16:28That's what you want to do because you want to build on it
16:30We heard Tina say it in half are they going to be able to keep their foot on the gas
16:34how you
16:36Still maintain that same level as they're showcasing of intensity
16:42Despite the score because for them, it's more so about usa right now
16:54It's got a playground like feel right now by this young quintet on the floor
17:00It's got a lot of fun
17:05And this is what he's doing
17:08In the middle of the ball
17:18It's got a lot of fun
17:20it's got a lot of fun
17:24it's got a lot of fun
17:29Picks up the foul
17:49Kiki Iriafem
17:52Participated in the World Cup qualifiers in San Juan Puerto Rico
17:55She had not participated in USA basketball at any level until that senior team training camp in December
18:02Really looking forward to this opportunity because she says the physicality of FIBA benefits her game
18:07She can be super aggressive super physical
18:12Takes care of business at the free throw line this third quarter winds down
18:18No, so prevent
18:20There was the triple up top if there's something hungry has done well. It's not sound three-point shots
18:27Consistently already at 40 percent
18:30It's at nine of them
18:32Reese rip-and-go jump-stop
18:40Everybody is pitching in today in the quarterfinals for USA
18:44You see it with the balance with the ball movement some power moves for USA nearly a 50-point lead
18:52heading into the fourth
18:54Welcome back to Berlin TNT sports coverage of the 2026
19:00FIBA World Cup. Here's what we got coming up
19:03Later this morning on true TV France faces China
19:07We have Belgium and Germany
19:10Spain Australia the winner of the Spain Australia game in all likelihood of the quarter to go place the United
19:16States
19:17Good ones coming up. Oh, yeah a tremendous one here that
19:22You now see hungry drop back into the zone do anything they can to try and slow this USC
19:26USA team down, but they have been clicking on all cylinders
19:31What a solid way to get things started
19:34Clark turns the corner fouled on the floater good to see Citron back in the game
19:39No question was shaken up in the third
19:47USA 61 percent shooting 55 percent from deep
19:53That's just their third miss from the free-throw line
20:04That's just their third missus
20:05With six assists
20:05Think about the fact that you already have four USA players in double figures
20:14You have four now
20:17With eight points at least I mean there has been contributions
20:22Really smooth way here for USA and how they're finding one another
20:26Tackin out of those assist numbers
20:29Take away Howard they've got numbers give and go
20:34The dream
20:36Make it happen
20:41Settle down Renee. I know you're excited. I'm just kidding good stuff between Reese and Clark. I read Reese and
20:49Howard
20:51Recent Clark have had a good day together as well
20:54Deflected out of bounds hungry ball
20:58And really everyone's had yes very much very solid day
21:03So back to the piece of Collier set on the tone
21:09Operate in the paint
21:13And that's the whole idea that's the concept that's the goal everyone making contributions and different moments different plays and
21:20what's needed
21:22And while overall for the team the numbers are extraordinarily impressive and it's
21:27It's about that the team numbers the collection of it the performances
21:32Because across the board and the box scores of individual lines everyone's got their fingerprints
21:38And every point different ways
21:43Eight USA players with at least eight points
21:52Here we attend the pick rolls catch you
21:57Reese boxes out Torca you Haas
22:03Clark with the handle short on the floater
22:08This is the mid-range
22:18We come up on eight minutes to go in regulation of this quarter-final
22:23And Tanya she misses the three-pointer
22:28Iria fence around it push pass out to Kaitlyn Clark
22:33Walks on the transition three deep in the paint in the Reese
22:39Shares with area fence
22:41Everyone has a touchdown in this possession
22:45Offensive three seconds
22:48You can hang in the paint all you want defensively. There's no defensive three seconds
22:54Fever rules, but
22:55Offensive three seconds is still a thing
22:57Balance. I think this is the second one we've seen
23:00Yes
23:00Or at least we have personally seen through the course of this tournament
23:03Not a lot, but overall even though
23:05USA comes up empty on that play
23:08You still like the quick get-ahead the push looking to find those areas the past
23:17Rack who we the flip
23:21Citron takes in on defense against Lelik
23:25Huge strength of what so Sonya Citron breaks to the table
23:30Positions great with a lot of the switching nature that USA will play with
23:43Shot clock at five for Hungary
23:57Uses a length good extension not easy finish to do so around here if in on the left
24:09Boston sprays to Citron twist and turn extra Howard that's better spot today
24:16That's better spot today
24:1815 for Howard when Ryan Howard starts seeing it go through a lot of lights out she could fill it
24:24up in a hurry and
24:25In credit to this USA team
24:29It had a good rhythm of finding who's had it going and getting those open looks
24:36World Cup high for Howard 15 points
24:43At 14 against China in the group stage opener for USA out of Group D
24:50Hungary out of Group B
24:52Hungary out of Group B 2 and 1 had to play in the quarterfinal qualifier
24:55Tuesday against Japan to get to this game
24:57And they had a commanding victory over Japan
25:02Sure did
25:03They led for all but 21 seconds
25:05They led for all but 21 seconds
25:08Big games as we already have mentioned
25:11Big games as we already have mentioned
25:12Big games as we already have mentioned
25:12Big games as we already have mentioned
25:13A very different story for them as we'll get into as opposed to China
25:21And the tightly contested game between China and Puerto Rico
25:31Vagan by Howard one of the great sharp shooters
25:33For USA 3 of 5 today
25:38To go along with 4 steals
25:40Wow, WNBA steals leader we've set that off in
25:442.3 per game is she has been active
25:51One of 7 Americans making their Senior International Tournament
25:56debuts.
25:58Yashi
26:00in the mid-range jumper. Now we're reminded Howard also played
26:03at the Olympics in 3x3
26:05and won a bronze medal.
26:07This is her first taste of 5-on-5
26:10at the senior level.
26:12Has the hot hand.
26:15When she was in college,
26:17her Aaliyah Boston, they won the
26:192021 AmeriCup gold
26:21and I think that's kind of a theme
26:23we see with a lot of these players
26:24for USA have been in the system,
26:27have been a part of USA
26:28basketball in different capacities,
26:31been on different stages, but the
26:32newness of playing
26:345-on-5 in a World Cup
26:36tournament, what this means,
26:38the legacy of this
26:40program and just the
26:42responsibility, the pride,
26:44and the appreciation they have
26:47for having this opportunity.
26:48Citron scoops it in.
26:50All 12 USA players
26:53have scored
26:54the third time they've done that now
26:56in four games.
26:58All 12 in the score column.
27:03Fast break.
27:05Clark the bounce,
27:06Therese on the hip.
27:08And Therese
27:09heads to the line.
27:21Therese does what she can
27:24to try and
27:25give some resistance.
27:30With five minutes to go,
27:3150-point game.
27:32You're reminded what this means
27:34for all countries.
27:36Hungary's first World Cup
27:38since 1998.
27:40They're in the quarterfinals for the first time in 40 years.
27:42Leaving it all out there.
27:43Playing for pride.
27:45They are playing for it,
27:46and they're playing hard.
27:48It's so fascinating
27:49as we go through this,
27:51you're watching this game,
27:52you talk about it.
27:54USA is exceptional
27:55in some of the best talent
27:58around the world.
27:59Hungary,
28:00despite being down by 50,
28:01they've played hard,
28:02they've executed well.
28:04They've not been some three.
28:06They're trying to play
28:07to their strength.
28:08It's just
28:08an immense undertaking
28:11against the talent,
28:12the skill
28:13of USA.
28:14Clark down the runway.
28:15the handle
28:17to separate.
28:21Ten points
28:22for Clark.
28:24Now five
28:25USA players
28:26in double figures.
28:30Beckers went
28:31for the steal.
28:34Taroq.
28:35Clark on the perimeter,
28:37blocked by Reese.
28:40Barbie in Berlin
28:41at it again.
28:47Angel Reese.
28:49That's her first block
28:50in the books today.
28:52Now three total
28:53for the United States.
28:58Five on the shot clock.
29:01Cintron, a block.
29:06Skip pass.
29:07Beckers.
29:13Again,
29:14the United States
29:15draws the winner
29:16of Australia-Spain.
29:18That is later today
29:20on TMT Sports.
29:24That should be a good one.
29:26Germany-Belgium
29:26also on the docket.
29:28Our next game
29:29is China and France
29:30in the last eight.
29:33And Australia
29:34dealing with a lot
29:35of injuries
29:36and missing pieces.
29:39Tough circumstances
29:40to this point.
29:43However,
29:43you know
29:44you know
29:44that they are
29:45a team
29:45that
29:46got a
29:47rich history
29:49in how they've
29:50competed internationally.
29:53Still waiting
29:54to hear word
29:55on the status
29:56of Ezzie Magbagoor
29:57who left
29:57in the first quarter
29:59of Wednesday's
30:00quarterfinal qualifier.
30:09Atlanta Smith
30:10ruled out
30:10for the rest
30:11of the tournament.
30:12Teammate of Paige Beckers
30:13in Dallas.
30:13and
30:31double dribble.
30:32Assess to Lely.
30:38And timeout Hungary.
30:40Hungary takes timeout with 3.12 to play in regulation.
30:45This commanding performance of the United States just needs a couple of finishing touches when we come back.
30:53Sists of the game presented by AT&T. Connecting changes everything.
30:57Well, surprise, surprise. Beauty of an assist here by Kaitlin Clark.
31:00And she just keeps finding Angel Reese.
31:03Those two have been a tremendous tandem together.
31:05You see on the push and the ability to be able to get ahead to Seal.
31:11And then Angel Reese returning the assist favor to Kaitlin Clark on the run.
31:16And even, you know, those are an example of many of them.
31:19The passing the ball movement and the ability for USA to keep finding open teammates led by Kaitlin Clark.
31:27Through the course of this tournament has been tremendous in that area.
31:31It's been really important to what they do offensively and you continue to see it evolve.
31:40Like that?
31:45A dime to Ery Offense.
31:48Ninth assist for Clark.
31:50Now up to 28 total assists at this FIBA World Cup.
32:01Juhasz shares it.
32:03Duel puts it in.
32:05Dorka Juhasz, the 26-year-old big three-year pro of the Minnesota Lakes.
32:10Dorka has been very impressed with her country.
32:14Dorka was so excited ahead of this World Cup.
32:16She grew up with most of her teammates, played at the U18s, the U16s.
32:20And Dorka said the failures and disappointments from the last few years when we were close, those were painful.
32:26We have a bit more of an edge.
32:28That's been proven in the quarters for the first time in 40 years for Hungary.
32:35Meanwhile, Citron comes up with the thefts.
32:40You can stay tuned for post-game coverage in the studio with Lauren, Tina, and Renee.
32:54Duel, the push pass.
32:56Juhasz.
32:58Juhasz.
32:58Juhasz.
33:04Two minutes to go.
33:08This is some really nice balance in minutes.
33:14Kara Lawson, this coaching staff, how she's worked the rotations.
33:21Seen a lot of this younger group as this game has continued on.
33:26Once the ball has been built, everyone looked across the board short of
33:32Sonia Citron and Uriah Fin right about 16, 17, 18 minutes.
33:41And really solid play, top to bottom.
33:56Rekkawee helps wreak havoc on the defensive end, show and go.
34:01Becker's got the hands in.
34:03Becker's, who is top five in blocks through group stage play.
34:10Paige Blocker's is back from her stores days of blocking shots.
34:20Climbs inside and nabbed by Hungary.
34:27Count the hoop.
34:28Plus the horn.
34:29Nice jumper.
34:30For Turok.
34:33The United States with 31 assists today, the most ever in a World Cup quarterfinal game.
34:4031 assists.
34:4340 made shots and shooting.
34:45We've been talking about these numbers a lot, but they are really eye-popping.
34:4960% from the field, 52 from three.
34:54And then solid is the line.
34:56This is much more characteristic, I think, of the offensive display we anticipated from this
35:03team through the course of this tournament.
35:06Final minute of regulation.
35:11Reese in the post.
35:12Instead, Clark goes to Iriafen, takes flight.
35:16And a foul.
35:27USA with a 34, rather 33-point win over China in the opening game.
35:36Three-point win over Italy.
35:37Everyone was on the edge of their seats.
35:4041-point win over Czechia.
35:43And up 50 in the fourth.
35:45So, a little bit of a roller coaster.
35:47Yes.
35:49Sure, Carol Loss will be the first to say that.
35:52But that's...
35:53I do think those are the things you value.
35:55And, you know, we've talked about a lot.
35:57Just learning on the fly with one another in all these experiences, these games.
36:04Navigating different play styles the opponents are up against.
36:08But more than anything, I think this was just an example of USA learning who they are
36:14and how they best function together.
36:16And continuing to make sure that that grows and flourishes through the course of this tournament.
36:21And Beckers swerves to the mid-range and she's followed by Yosopovic.
36:29Beckers has five for three assists.
36:32She'll get two at the line.
36:33And the United States is 14 of 20.
36:38Again, folks, don't go anywhere.
36:40And this one ends.

37:23by the red, white, and blue to date in Berlin.
37:28The United States is on to the semifinals of the FIBA World Cup.
37:35They'll face the winner of Spain-Australia, which is later today.
37:39Some big-time play by a USA team
37:43that takes one more step to the journey
37:45to accomplish their ultimate goal
37:47as they search for a fifth-strength World Cup title.
37:54And now 34 consecutive wins
38:00at the FIBA World Cup in the United States.
38:04And it was how they did it.
38:06Look at those numbers.
38:07All the things you love to see.
38:09Efficiency from the field.
38:10It came from an unselfishness
38:12and sharing the basketball.
38:14They dominated from three.
38:16They dominated in the paint.
38:18And they knew the formula to this one
38:21was getting out on the fast break.
38:23It did that in a really significant way.
38:2731 assists, most ever in a World Cup game.
38:31And the balance was evident everywhere.
38:33And 44 points off of turnovers.
38:36Wow.
38:38So, on to the semis.
