00:00Germany went 2-1 in Group A play, while Korea went 1-2.
00:06Here is your up-to-date bracket out in Berlin.
00:09The quarterfinals overall begin on Thursday.
00:12Again, today we have qualifying competition for the quarters.
00:16The winner of this game between Germany and Korea
00:19faces Belgium in the quarters on Thursday.
00:23Sarah Jihoon Park of the Los Angeles Spark of the WNBA
00:27has shined for Korea.
00:28It certainly has. She's been a leading scorer for this Korea team,
00:31and they are going to ride her and her ability to penetrate
00:34and break through a defense.
00:36We know our crew talks a lot about how much Korea likes to shoot three-point shots,
00:40but for Park, she could do it all, and a big part of her responsibility
00:44has been getting on the inside, collapsing the defense to open up the perimeter.
00:49And on the flip side of things, for Germany, it has been Frieda Buhner,
00:52who has been spectacular here for this German team,
00:56and a big part of it has been her efficiency from the three-point line.
01:00You already see it there, 54% from three for the tournament,
01:03but had a little rocky start in game one.
01:05The last two games, seven of ten from deep.
01:08Germany will need that with how much they rely on their inside presence.
01:12As we visit our starting lineups ahead of play,
01:15Saboli has held down the fort inside, grabbing about six rebounds a game for Germany.
01:21Then you have Louisa Geisel-Suter, who...
01:26Korea.
01:28They like the three-ball for sure.
01:30They shot 42% in their last game Monday against Hungary.
01:34They've made 12 per game.
01:36Brendan Glasheen, Sarah Kustak here at Berlin Arena.
01:38The quarterfinal qualifiers.
01:41One of two on our air here on True TV on this Tuesday.
01:47Germany in the white uniforms.
01:49Dark blue for Korea.
01:51Saboli.
01:52They swarm her, and they work on the perimeter.
01:55Feebisch, the dump.
01:57Geisel-Suter off the window and in.
01:59Exactly what Germany wants to do.
02:00Get it on the inside.
02:01You know, Olaf Lang loves to see that.
02:04A zone for Korea.
02:06They're trying to pack it in on that defensive side.
02:09The host country is rocking at their home arena.
02:15Three-ball.
02:17Missed short.
02:18Chased down and last touched by Korea.
02:22And, Brendan, I'm glad you said that.
02:23The fact that Germany is the host country.
02:26The pride, the pressure, responsibility,
02:29and also to have this crowd behind you
02:31is something that's going to be impactful.
02:34Both countries in pursuit of a last-eight berth.
02:38They'll face Belgium, whoever wins.
02:40And Saboli kisses it off the glass and in.
02:43Four points all in the paint from the two bigs for the Germans.
02:49Entry into the post.
02:51Twist and turn.
02:52Now in the painted area.
02:54Kang couldn't bank it home.
02:57Feebish escapes.
03:05Korea, the fourth-highest scoring team
03:08in this FIBA World Cup at 80 points per game.
03:11Second only to France in three-point percentage.
03:14It didn't help their cause when France hit 22 three-pointers
03:18against Nigeria yesterday to wrap up group stage play.
03:22But in saying that,
03:24despite the fact that Korea does have two losses,
03:26it was a really challenging group that they were up against.
03:30You see it right here, though,
03:32that strong take.
03:33As Feebish tries to get inside,
03:35it will be a matter of who's able to really set the tone
03:39in the style that they want to play.
03:42Early on here, these first couple possessions,
03:43Germany has gotten what they wanted,
03:46but that three-point shooting will be a huge aspect for Korea
03:49if they not only get those threes up,
03:51shoot as efficiently as they have
03:53through the course of this tournament,
03:54but also play at the up-tempo pace that they desire.
03:5918th appearance at the FIBA World Cup for Korea.
04:05Looking to get back to the quarterfinals
04:07for the first time since 2010.
04:10Another stop by Germany.
04:14They finished 11th place back in 1998
04:17when they played in seven German cities.
04:21Fourth was their best finish in 1967.
04:24Saboli tied up, sticks with it.
04:26In and out.
04:27Battle on the glass.
04:28Eichmeyer has it stripped away by Korea.
04:32Hands in Saboli.
04:33Turnover forced by Germany.
04:41Skip pass from Feebish to Saboli.
04:44Geisel Suter scans the floor.
04:46Jump stop, hook shot, short.
04:49What you are seeing is an attention to detail
04:52in transition defense for Germany.
04:56E-Sam Choi.
04:58The pass and the jump shot.
05:00Pure.
05:02Hyron E.
05:04And great to see that go through for E and for Korea
05:07get themselves on the board,
05:08but what Germany has done a nice job of defensively
05:11is running them off the three-point line.
05:14E is averaging 16 points per game.
05:16Push pass on the skip to the pocket.
05:18Saboli finds the open shooter.
05:20Britta Daub dials one up.
05:22That's big.
05:22It's big for Germany to be able to still spread the floor
05:26and open up the inside by knocking down
05:28those clean three-point looks.
05:32In the win over Mali,
05:33a 25-point victory Monday for Germany.
05:37Nine three-pointers made, just 32%.
05:40But a high assist rate, Sarah.
05:42They had 30 buckets, 26 assists.
05:44That's what you love to see,
05:45characteristic of how they play.
05:47And it's going to continue to be important,
05:50especially, you know,
05:52this Germany team,
05:53they've got an ability to shoot knockdown shots,
05:56but with their size
05:57and the length that they present,
06:00moving them around.
06:01And that's got to come through
06:02not only just the body movement,
06:04setting screens,
06:05the activity on the offensive side,
06:07but also the quickness of ball movement.
06:10Rene said it in the studio.
06:12Frida Buhner is making a case
06:14for sixth player of the tournament
06:16next to Maureen Johannes of France.
06:19Buhner wears 20 in the white and black jersey.
06:22Free throw line extended.
06:24Another cashed-in jumper.
06:26Hyron E, same spot as before.
06:29And that's part of it.
06:30Not that Germany wants to give up clean looks,
06:33but they're a little bit more willing
06:34to concede some of those longer twos.
06:37E had 17 in the opener against Nigeria.
06:40And a steal.
06:42Hyron E on the run,
06:43lays it in.
06:44All six Korea points.
06:46There you go.
06:47And for Korea, that's a part of it.
06:49Create disruption on the defensive side.
06:53Generate some points off turnovers.
06:55You have this game going a little bit more up and down,
06:57and you see it right there.
06:58It's shooting the gap.
06:59Great read.
07:00And good finish for Korea.
07:04Good job by E.
07:05And Korea will show
07:07some different looks defensively.
07:09Start out in a zone,
07:10but they do have an ability to go man-to-man,
07:13but it's going to take a lot of extension and pressure,
07:15so they're not getting it inside.
07:17Hyron E responsible for the last three makes for Korea.
07:21Buhner, a floater.
07:23Too strong.
07:24Muscles it back.
07:25Decides to kick.
07:27Geisel Suter.
07:29Reads the mismatch.
07:30She has a height advantage.
07:31Phoebus Rise and Fire.
07:33Continues to struggle from deep,
07:34just 15% in the tournament,
07:36but did other things last time out.
07:39Had nine rebounds and six assists in the win over Molly.
07:43Downhill action.
07:44Hands in by Eichmeier.
07:46Still Korea ball.
07:46In for Phoebus.
07:48You said it.
07:49She does so many other things.
07:50The way she impacts the game on both ends of the floor.
07:52Who and what she is defensively.
07:55Doing the little things.
07:56Her rebounding.
07:57But on her career in the WNBA,
08:00she was 43%.
08:01So the fact that she's at 15%.
08:03If you're Germany,
08:05you think there's got to be a moment
08:06when she's going to break out.
08:08And you know they're hoping that this is the game.
08:13Genius Sports also tracks catch and shoot threes.
08:16Phoebus led the WNBA in 2024.
08:20The championship season for the New York Liberty.
08:23And in 2025, the catch and shoot three-pointer.
08:26We're even at eight.
08:276-0 run by Korea.
08:32Ghoulish in the ball game for Germany.
08:34Number 21.
08:35Alexis Peterson comes in off the bench.
08:40Shot clock is down to five.
08:42Phoebus peeks over her shoulder.
08:45Finds Peterson.
08:46Jabs right.
08:47Drives baseline.
08:48She ran out of time.
08:50Shot clock violation.
08:51Credit to Korea's defense.
08:53They're swarming.
08:54And a big part of it is just pressure at all positions.
08:58Obviously trying to put that on the basketball.
09:01But everyone's done a good job staying attached to their own individual matchup and assignment.
09:05And making it very tough for Germany to get the ball where they want to go.
09:11Suho Park's team resilient after a small deficit early.
09:16Phoebus the denial on the block for Germany.
09:20Peterson sets up shot.
09:23Ghoulish the ball screen.
09:25Buter.
09:26The skip.
09:27Phoebus dishes inside.
09:30Swing.
09:30Buter.
09:31A three.
09:34Excellent ball movement for Germany.
09:36Korea in that zone.
09:38Quick with the rotations.
09:40And Buhner does what she's been doing so well.
09:42Last two games.
09:43Seven of ten from beyond the arc.
09:48And there's that defense from Phoebus that got things going here early on.
09:52Hitting all points on the floor.
09:54You got the zone scrambling and Buhner cashes in.
09:59All four baskets for Germany assisted.
10:03Buhner, eight of her last 11 have now gone in from deep with a triple today.
10:10And again, that's so important for a team that wants to get inside and get it in the paint
10:16to be able to spread open a defense to allow some of those lanes.
10:20She is used to sizzling off the bench.
10:2235 games played off the pine for the Portland Fire.
10:26One of two new teams in the WNBA.
10:29They break the press.
10:31Germany up by three.
10:33Phoebus attacks.
10:34Feeds Peterson on the slash.
10:35Floater.
10:36Almost banked it in.
10:38Bodies hit the floor.
10:40Korea's on the move.
10:42Deep three is banked in.
10:45Sohee E.
10:48It's a Tuesday, Brandon.
10:49Let's go.
10:50Open it up.
10:56Peterson into the paint.
10:59Bottled up.
11:00And she got fouled.
11:01We'll go to the line.
11:02Alexis Peterson, formerly of Syracuse, ACC Player of the Year.
11:06And he just tucks it.
11:08That's a strong take.
11:11And here's Korea on the run.
11:13Stop, pop, window shot.
11:16Yeah, there you go.
11:19Good finish.
11:22That's the way it's working for Korea.
11:23You mentioned about Alexis Peterson.
11:25And a really solid job here through the course of World Cup competition.
11:31ACC Player of the Year at Syracuse.
11:33A little bit of time in the W before going to Israel, to Poland, to Turkey, to France.
11:40And just a really experienced player, the ultimate pro.
11:43And has played just a nice role here for this German team.
11:48Six Germany players have scored to put him up two under four minutes to play in the first.
11:53The winner of this quarterfinal qualifier plays Belgium on Thursday.
11:59A stop and pop once again.
12:01And this time it won't go in off the window for Sohee E.
12:04And there's the defense in the length of Feebush disrupting and deterring that shot.
12:13Ghoulish flips to Feebush, who's played this entire quarter so far.
12:17Ghoulish takes the feed and finishes.
12:20Great playmaking by Feebush getting in the paint.
12:23And that's where Germany now is starting to utilize some of their size on the inside.
12:28And Ghoulish has been super consistent.
12:3221 in the white.
12:34At least eight points in all three games.
12:36Exactly four rebounds in each game.
12:39Double team on the block.
12:42Korea makes it difficult.
12:43Buehner turns the corner.
12:45Footwork.
12:46She'll get two at the line.
12:50Germany getting inside through penetration.
12:52And they're very aware of when Korea has been coming back into a man.
12:57And when they got that single coverage of trying to come back here to help.
13:00But they've just got a lot of size and a lot of strength when they get that close to the
13:04rim.
13:09It's the fourth team foul on Korea in this opening quarter.
13:17Buehner had a rocky start to this Feebush World Cup.
13:20Just four points in the opener.
13:23Then carried the team against Japan.
13:2619 points.
13:27Poured in.
13:2721 against Mali.
13:29She just keeps getting better.
13:31The Portland Fire Organization elated with her growth in Berlin.
13:36And is 22 years old.
13:43Choi gives it up.
13:45Contested jumper.
13:48Hyron E comes up empty.
13:54Six-point Germany lead on a 6-0 spurt.
14:03Dribble drive.
14:04And a lay-in.
14:06Lena Sontag.
14:08Sontag recognizes she's got some size on that matchup.
14:11There's good ball movement around the perimeter.
14:14But once she sees that lane, which is one player ahead of her, again, Germany's continuing to take advantage of
14:21getting to the basket.
14:23Strong take and a smooth finish.
14:25The host country is in pursuit of a place in the last eight.
14:30Germany on an 8-0 run.
14:39Dobb runs the point.
14:41Peterson.
14:42Step back.
14:42Long two.
14:45Boarded by Kang.
14:46Kang on in facilitation mode for Korea.
14:53There's 5 of 13 from the floor.
14:56Give and go.
14:57Han, outlet.
14:58Kang for three.
15:00Much needed for Korea.
15:01That's an excellent job by Korea, continuing to use both sides of the floor.
15:06Inside-out action.
15:08They've got to work that because Germany is defending some of those first options and first actions.
15:13You've got to get them to the third and fourth ones and the second side.
15:18Buter goes to work.
15:20And gets the friendly bounce.
15:23Home rims for Buter in Germany.
15:27Back up seven.
15:28We're keeping an eye on Korea's three-point shooting.
15:32Two of six now in this first quarter.
15:34They make about 12 a game.
15:36Number two at this World Cup.
15:38Only behind France.
15:41Korea played in their group.
15:43France already punched its ticket to the quarters.
15:46This is a quarter-final qualifier.
15:49Peterson misses it in deep.
15:50Final minute first quarter.
15:52Ahn sprints into the paint.
15:53Why not?
15:58Park with the hustle.
16:00Now it's three on two.
16:02Buter.
16:04Easy deuce.
16:06Germany getting after some of those extra effort plays.
16:10That's a great job by Alexis Peterson.
16:13One who gets on the floor initially trying to keep that play alive for Germany.
16:19Gion Park sends it up to Choi.
16:25Keng.
16:27Walk-in defense by Dopp.
16:30Ahn.
16:31Tried to deliver a bounce pass at a tight window.
16:35Turned over.
16:35That's turnover number three for Korea.
16:38And I've been really impressed with Germany's defense.
16:41It's not just situations like this where you see the scramble, the quicken, the get-ahead.
16:47Buhner eventually with the finish.
16:48But they've done a nice job in, one, getting back in transition to try and slow Korea on the run.
16:53But when they are in the half court, keeping them really spread and for the most part not allowing clean
16:59three-point looks.
17:00Germany shooting 50% from the floor.
17:05Eight assists on eight baskets.
17:08Dopp, sidestep, long three.
17:11And the first quarter ends.
17:13Germany leads by nine.
17:15The winner faces Belgium in the quarterfinals.
17:19Welcome back to Berlin for coverage of the FIBA Women's Basketball World Cup here on True TV.
17:24One quarter in the books of this quarterfinal qualifier.
17:28Brendan Glasheen, Sarah Kustak, the winner of this one between Germany and Korea, faces Belgium on Thursday.
17:35And Korea's struggles continue.
17:37Just two field goals made in the last six minutes or so.
17:42Spin move, Saboli.
17:43Put the defense in the blender.
17:45Put back goes.
17:47Taking advantage of their size.
17:50And that's been a good balance, too, for Germany because they've worked the inside.
17:54They've also knocked out some outside shots as well.
17:57This end of the floor is where I feel like they've made the biggest difference in their ability to defend.
18:03They've stuck with Korea.
18:05Olaf Lang, known for his defensive-mindedness, head coach here for Germany.
18:11He was born in Berlin in 1972, 54 years old.
18:16And that's a huge part of his attention to detail is what's happening on the defensive side.
18:20And that's where Germany hasn't given up a lot of open looks or room for Korea to really hit the
18:25threes
18:25and play at the pace that they want to.
18:28To give you a sense of the size, 6'1", Buter.
18:32Dob hits the 6'4", Feebusch.
18:33Now the 6'4", Geisel-Suter.
18:38Off on the three.
18:39And you look at Korea's roster.
18:41A couple of six-footers, but no one taller than six feet.
18:45A height is just a number.
18:47It's all about the energy and the pursuit.
18:49Hong, this is the layup.
18:51Is that what you say?
18:53What?
18:53A height is just a number?
18:55Yeah, just like H, right?
18:56I like it.
18:56I like it.
18:59Feebusch, rack attack, Buhner.
19:04And secured by Korea.
19:06And this is the areas for Korea.
19:08If they can get it, a few stops spring together and create some looks.
19:13It's just they've had such a tough time on offense.
19:16Leone, Feebusch steps through traffic and Feebusch is fouled off her fourth rebound.
19:23All-out sprint from one end to the other.
19:27It's a strong take once again by Feebusch.
19:30She's been really intentional in getting inside.
19:33We talked about some of her struggles shooting from the outside, but I think you've already
19:37seen examples of how impactful she could be and really be just a glue of a team of doing
19:44so much in terms of attention, of gravity, and organization on an offensive end.
19:52Unrivaled basketball is back.
19:54The fast-paced action-packed women's 3v3 league returns featuring Nafisa Collier, Paige Beckers,
20:00Chelsea Gray, and more.
20:01Season 3 begins January 2027 on TNT, True TV, and HBO Max.
20:06See, kick it off in your hometown.
20:08Ship been up to Boston.
20:10I love it.
20:11Just announced today.
20:13Looking forward to that at TD Garden.
20:15You're going to have some fun, yeah.
20:17You're going to have to show us around.
20:19We got you.
20:22TNT's got you covered on the TD side.
20:2613-point lead for Germany.
20:31Good-looking dribble drive there by Isol Kang.
20:3720 points against Nigeria in the opener.
20:40Was held scoreless against Hungary last time out.
20:43Good feeling there.
20:44Geisel Suter sends it to the pocket.
20:47Dob comes up empty on the 3.
20:50The winner of this game plays Belgium Thursday in the quarterfinals.
20:55This is what Korea can do.
20:57Isol Kang connects.
20:59There you go.
21:01Korea, Kang, and this group starting to get some of those three-point shots that we've seen
21:06through the course of this tournament.
21:08Nails it from the top of the key.
21:12Korea inching back into this one.
21:14Putting together a few stops.
21:16Now with a nine.
21:19He's low.
21:19We split.
21:20All right.
21:21We split.
21:21We split.
21:24All right.
21:24Olaf Lang's German squad is feasting in the paint.
21:27He's done an excellent job.
21:29You see the spacing on the outside and it's been through post-ups.
21:32They've been doing an excellent job with their drives, getting it on the deck and finishing
21:37at the end of plays.
21:38They understand where their strengths are and a huge part of that is their size and how
21:42effective they can be on the inside.
21:45But for Korea, for Suho Park, he's got to feel good about these last couple possessions.
21:52It's started with some stops and then cleaner looks from the three-point line.
21:56And that's what, for Korea, they've got to rely upon.
22:00Germany has 14 points in the paint.
22:02Korea just eight.
22:05Korea must hit threes.
22:06That's been their formula, at least in one of their wins.
22:09They went one and two in Group B.
22:10Germany two and one.
22:12Spain won the group.
22:15Kaisel Suda on the weak side.
22:18Korea on the pot.
22:19Korea touched it last.
22:22It's Korea ball.
22:24What a 5-0 run here.
22:25They come up with a stop out of the timeout.
22:27And that's big.
22:28And for a team that loves to play fast, is good in transition, and does have an ability
22:34to hit you from deep, that's where you can cut into deficits quickly.
22:38Open shot from deep.
22:40Kang makes it rain.
22:42Went 0 for 5 from 3 in the finale of group play against Hungary.
22:47Two triples in this second quarter to cut it to 5.
22:50Got a little extra bounce in their step.
22:51You can feel the juice.
22:53Quick movement here as they once again drop back into a zone.
22:59Kang has nine points all from deep.
23:02Phoebus couldn't answer.
23:05Offensive rebound.
23:07And there's contact.
23:08Eichmeyer squeezed the ball and got a bit tangled up by Korea.
23:13It'd be another thing you got to look to, and there hasn't been a ton of miss shots for
23:17Germany in this sense, but for Korea, making sure they clean up on their defensive possessions.
23:22You do force a miss.
23:23It's got to be a one and done.
23:25You can't give Germany extra opportunities by coming up with offensive rebounds.
23:33Germany averaged 47 rebounds per game in group stage, 14 offensive rebounds, while Korea
23:40averaged just 24 rebounds a game.
23:43The size, problematic.
23:46Peterson plays off the screen.
23:49Saboli looks for the cutter, and they get it done.
23:52Ghoulish lays it in.
23:53Beautiful ball movement.
23:55Great cutting off the basketball.
23:57Well run set for Germany.
24:01Ninth assist, Xara, on 10 baskets for the German national team.
24:08Been a lot of patience for them, and it's not to say that they want to necessarily play slower,
24:14but they are very methodical in understanding where and how they want to attack.
24:25You can see right here, just a beautiful job cutting from the weak side.
24:29It's a good feel for one another.
24:32They've done that with Niara Saboli as well, too, because she's a very good passer.
24:36Once she adds the ball, she can see where those double teams are coming from.
24:41Feebush to the corner pocket.
24:44Peterson short.
24:46Offensive rebound, Eichmeyer.
24:51Leone Feebush of the New York Liberty in the triple threat position.
24:55Double teamed by Korea up top.
24:57Contested triple.
24:59And after Korea turned it over, they come up with a stop on Germany.
25:14Olaf Lang makes a couple of substitutions.
25:19Emily Best Swat checks in.
25:25On a point guard for Korea.
25:30Korea has to overcome this home crowd of Germany to reach the last date of this competition
25:35for the first time since 2010.
25:47Feebush with her fingerprints on this first half.
25:50That was ferocious.
25:53She's not just coming for this one.
25:56This is a swat.
25:59The only Feebush is an excellent wing defender.
26:03She's got a quickness, great length and size.
26:06It's also her reads.
26:10On flicks it with the left, boarded by Saboli.
26:13She's got handle, too.
26:16Saboli all the way to the rack.
26:20That's a great take by Saboli, but give a lot of credit to Ghoulish.
26:25A little screen there to open up her man and create a lane for Saboli to finish off that play.
26:30Saboli coached by Sandy Brondello, Australian national coach.
26:36Wife of German national coach, Olaf Lang.
26:41A lot of connections here.
26:42And, of course, tough for Germany to be playing.
26:45Without Niara's sister, Satu Saboli.
26:48We mentioned this at the start of the tournament.
26:50A key component to this German national team.
26:54Suffered two concussions within the last month.
26:57So she is going eight months.
26:59So she's going to take some time out from the WNBA
27:02and her play with the New York Liberty as well.
27:06She's been shut down for the remainder of the season.
27:09We wish her and the Saboli family well.
27:12No question.
27:14Febisch at 6-4.
27:16Tosses into the paint.
27:18Ghoulish off the window and in.
27:20An 11-point lead again for Germany.
27:22A foreign change to go in this first half.
27:25This quarterfinal qualifier.
27:31I hope Renee approves.
27:32If we're getting that off the tongue, quarterfinal qualifier.
27:35The studio is coming up very soon.
27:37Yeah.
27:38I'm going to leave that to you, B.
27:43Take the tongue twisters.
27:44And there you go.
27:45There you see Saboli.
27:46Nice little screen there by Ghoulish and Germans.
27:50Germany has had it rolling.
27:52They're really doing it in a variety of ways.
27:54Contributions top to bottom.
27:55You have already mentioned those assist numbers.
27:57Nine assists on 12.
27:59Made baskets.
28:01Peterson.
28:01The crossover to separate.
28:04Ghoulish has been automatic inside until then.
28:08She was 3-of-3.
28:09That's her first miss.
28:10It was a beautiful pass and a creation by Alexis Peterson.
28:15She gets it at the paint.
28:18Peterson was approached by Germany in the summer of 2023
28:21to gauge her interest leaving Team USA
28:24where she played some 3x3 competition at the national level.
28:28And both countries approved her change of nationality.
28:32She's been a mainstead, experienced guard
28:34in international competition.
28:36Germany with another stop.
28:38Korea 9-of-28 from the floor.
28:41Frieda Buehner on the runoff.
28:43Peterson flies inside.
28:45Finds the streaking Ghoulish.
28:49She won't miss a second time with that much room.
28:52Ghoulish's cutting is special with how she finds those areas
28:56to make herself available.
28:57She's coming in the wake.
28:59And for Peterson, once again, playmaking for this team.
29:03She's second on the team in assists,
29:04and you can understand why.
29:06A 13-point lead for Germany.
29:142026 FIBA Women's Basketball World Cup.
29:17We're on True TV for one of two quarterfinal qualifiers
29:22on this Tuesday.
29:29Germany has opened it up a bit thanks to points in the paint.
29:34And the points in the paint have come in a variety of different ways.
29:36There has been penetration and drive to the basket,
29:39but a lot of it has been through some really nice passing.
29:41The ability to create, get in the lane, and cutting actions off of it.
29:4722 points in the paint for the German national team.
29:5022 total.
29:52Now 24 for Korea.
29:54E banks it in.
30:02Germany's led the entire way.
30:048-0 run just ended.
30:12And Ghoulish works with her feet.
30:16She does a great job with her seal.
30:17That's a beautiful pass.
30:19And that's where it's been challenging for Korea
30:22to find areas because of that movement for any amount of help.
30:27Park off the mark.
30:31Ghoulish, the first Germany player in double figures.
30:35If it ain't broke, don't fix it.
30:3712 points for Ghoulish.
30:39Germany right now is just putting on a clinic
30:42with how to balance and space the floor
30:44and make those entry passes to the post.
30:46Single coverage against Ghoulish.
30:48There's no one that's big enough to try and handle that.
30:51Now 10 points in the quarter.
30:5415-point lead, Germany.
30:57Park sends it to Ahn.
30:59Dash to the rack.
31:01Lays it in.
31:01Excellent shot, Fake.
31:03Settling in.
31:04And for Korea, you look at these final two minutes.
31:07Of the half.
31:10Peterson.
31:11A clean look at a three.
31:13It's a little tougher to say now.
31:15It's going to say,
31:15Giants, systematically,
31:16can you cut this to single digits?
31:18Put together a couple stops.
31:20That was a big shot there for a Germany team
31:23that we've talked about what they do in the paint
31:25to then vary it up with a three-point look.
31:28The paint touches pay off
31:29to open up the three-point looks.
31:33Shot clock is down to four.
31:35Tough take by Kang.
31:38Rebound Ghoulish.
31:41Outstanding in this quarterfinal qualifier.
31:43The winner of this game faces Belgium on Thursday.
31:48Peterson changes pace.
31:51Long jumper.
31:52No.
31:53And cleared by Korea.
31:57Ahn looks for the trailer.
31:59Ahn sets the feet.
32:01Splash.
32:02A three.
32:03It's a big one.
32:06They're never out of it.
32:07No.
32:08If they connect from distance.
32:09Exactly, Brendan.
32:10And big part of it, too,
32:12is if they can get some more stops
32:13to be able to play at pace.
32:16Ghoulish can't be stopped.
32:18It's just been so hard.
32:19And credit for as much as we're talking about the passes
32:22off of, you know, drives or movement,
32:24they also do a great job
32:26just in where they're getting Ghoulish the ball
32:29away from the defense.
32:32Can folks, Lauren,
32:35three-time FIBA gold medalist
32:37at the World Cup team
32:38at Charles and Rene Montgomery
32:40are coming up in the studio
32:41for halftime coverage.
32:4444-29, Germany leads.
32:52We'll keep it here with 41.5 to go
32:55in this first half.
33:00Ghoulish has 12 of her 14
33:02in the second quarter.
33:28Big 12 college football on TNT
33:31returns Saturday
33:32as the Washington State Cougars
33:34take on the Kansas State Wildcats.
33:37Catch all the action on TNT,
33:38True TV,
33:39and HBO Max.
33:42Suho Park
33:44trying to inspire Korea
33:46to rally back in this ballgame.
33:50Talked about Ghoulish,
33:51her productivity.
33:53Understandably,
33:54we talk a lot about Saboli
33:55and Geisel Suda
33:57and Phoebus,
33:58but it's opened up
34:01Ghoulish,
34:01who's been super consistent,
34:03brings experience to this team,
34:05was muscling down rebounds
34:07at the Eurobasket qualifiers,
34:09and was also a steady rebounder
34:11at the Paris Olympics.
34:14Very much so,
34:15and you can see it
34:16in her just understanding
34:17her role.
34:17She's played pro
34:19in multiple countries,
34:21played a couple WNBA teams,
34:23but this is where
34:24the game plan matters.
34:26Germany understands
34:27exactly what's needed,
34:28and as soon as they've
34:29found some of those
34:30pockets and spots,
34:32as you said,
34:33they continue to feed
34:33what's working.
34:34And Ghoulish has
34:37just done a great job
34:38showcasing some quick hands,
34:40good footwork,
34:40and using that size to finish.
34:43Germany rides the momentum
34:44of those Paris Olympics.
34:46It was the country's
34:47first ever Olympic Games
34:48appearance,
34:49lost to France
34:50in the quarters.
34:52And it boded well
34:54for the World Cup,
34:55just their second
34:55appearance ever,
34:56the last coming in 1998.
34:58And think about that,
34:59both times hosting,
35:01but just the second time
35:02participating in the World Cup,
35:04this is a very big deal
35:06for this German team.
35:11It's been fun
35:11to watch the crowds
35:12over the days
35:13in Berlin.
35:15This is day five
35:16of competition
35:17at the FIBA World Cup.
35:23Olaf Lange
35:24turns to some reserves
35:25here to finish out
35:26this first half.
35:2717-point lead
35:28for Germany.
35:31They won the first quarter
35:32by nine,
35:33an eight-point advantage
35:34right now
35:34in the second.
35:37Kang,
35:38strong on the three.
35:40Leak out,
35:41but a steal.
35:42Kang!
35:44Germany catches a break.
35:49Bielefeld
35:49sends it to
35:50Wilcox.
35:52First half ends,
35:53Germany in front
35:54by 17.
35:56A 19-7 run
35:57in the final
35:58six minutes,
35:5921 seconds.
36:00Strong finish.
36:01Germany has maintained
36:02the lead,
36:03they've done it
36:03with a great presence
36:04on the inside
36:05and strong defense,
36:06but what a finish here
36:08to really open this up
36:09as they head
36:10to the halftime locker room.
36:11Lauren, Tina,
36:12and Renee standing by
36:14in our studios
36:15back at Atlanta.
36:17Germany turned
36:18to Marie Kulis.
36:20She had 14
36:21to lead the way,
36:22a 17-point lead.
36:24Germany,
36:24with a win,
36:25faces Belgium
36:26in the quarters.
36:28True TV
36:28back in Berlin
36:29at the FIBA World Cup.
36:31Here are the first-half numbers
36:33between Germany
36:34and Korea.
36:3517-point lead
36:36for the German
36:37national team.
36:38Sarah,
36:39the ball movement
36:40has been so fun
36:42to watch
36:42from Germany today.
36:44Spectacular,
36:44and you can see why.
36:46It's the 28 points
36:46in the paint,
36:47but they've continued
36:48to work the ball
36:49to find those quality looks,
36:51especially on the inside,
36:52and they know how
36:53to spread out
36:54this Korea defense
36:55as well,
36:56and you see it right here.
36:57They've just continued
36:59to make sure
37:00that what they want
37:01to get.
37:02And...
