00:22last time I didn't rewatch a Browns game to go back and see things that I missed. I didn't bother.
00:28I didn't bother. I couldn't do it. There was no silver lining. They made it unwatchable. I just
00:32couldn't. I didn't want to do it to myself. I didn't want to do it to you guys. I didn't

00:36to come in here. If you watch the game again, it's okay. No, I think it would have been much
00:41worse today. You think so? Yeah. It just would have just hung with you. Like there's a sad cloud.
00:45Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Especially if I'd watched it late yesterday when it was already a little tired.
00:50Yeah. We do have Lance Reisland coming up in about 40 minutes, but I think the problem with the
00:55defense is every kind of error that you could make a missed tackle, right? Let's just say
01:03lack of communication, miscommunication, like all everything over pursuit on a couple screens,
01:11like every conceivable issue you could have the Browns defense had. And so it pains me to say,
01:20I don't honestly know who actually had an acceptable day on the defense yesterday because
01:26everybody's got to be dinged a little bit when you look like crap. I mean, I think Mason Graham at
01:30least had some, some plays, including the sack and a couple of hits that were at least, I don't know,
01:36putting you in the right direction. Maybe let's put it that way. Benzel Ward graded out in a really
01:40high way, which I didn't know how that was possible considering the idea that by a rookie. Yeah. I just
01:45didn't, I didn't really understand that. I don't know how you can really wax poetic or make any part
01:49of this good. I, and if we're going to stick to the pass rushers in particular, and Jared verse verse
01:55at zero sack, zero quarterbacks hit Sam Williams said, zero sack, zero quarterback hits, Isaiah
01:59McGuire, zero sacks, zero quarterback hits. Like they were on, they did miles Garrett's game in,
02:04in, in Melbourne. They did that all over except the three of them. Like that's how do you do that?
02:10Just, just an awful performance by all three and in a spot where the Browns obviously needed them to
02:15generate pass rush on a quarterback that was dealing. Now, am I allowed to get,
02:19this is not a Peterland pass. I promise you that. Am I allowed to add the context that they were
02:25put
02:25in the worst possible position after the Watson interception and from there, they just never caught
02:32their footing? No, I don't think that's acceptable. I don't think I can allow that. Uh, when the first
02:36two Jacksonville possessions is Trevor Lawrence going eight for 10 for 110 yards and two touchdowns,
02:41I don't care if Deshaun Watson handed the ball to the defense personally and said, here's your
02:46possession. It's, it's inexcusable. And the idea that Trevor Lawrence in the, the first four
02:51possessions goes touchdown, touchdown, field goal, touchdown. Like that's, I'm sorry. Like
02:55there's yes. Deshaun Watson did a lot to fail this Browns team yesterday. The defense does not get
03:00anything close to a Peterland pass there. All right. Uh, I just want to follow up on that.
03:03Are you sure? Yes, I'm sure. I was like, I was like to push back. That's a journalistic
03:09integrity thing that I do. Is there wiggle room for the old Peterland pass today? Not today.
03:13Because sometimes you got to pop off and then you know what? Maybe Nick's right when he said,
03:17are you sure? But no, you're stuck to your guns and that's why you're the truth broker. I mean,
03:23there's just no other way to look at this. Uh, it was just as embarrassing as it was offensively.
03:28It was as embarrassing, uh, on the defensive side of the ball up until the night game,
03:31the Sunday night game. Uh, it was funny. I mean, Trevor Lawrence had the number one EPA
03:35for quarterbacks across the sport. Deshaun Watson had the worst you're on. You're on the wrong end
03:39of both those spectrums. So the worst, that's bad, right? Not good. Yeah. You want to ask again?
03:44Be like, are you sure? Are you sure? Worst isn't good? Cause I, uh, Todd Munkin said there was a

03:49of good things. He said there's a lot of really good, really good, really good things. Didn't just do
03:53the whole, like let's soft launch this and maybe I'll get away with saying I liked some of it.
03:57They were really good things. I'm reasonably confident that the defense is going to pounce
04:03back. And I'm reasonably, reasonably confident that Jared verse is going to be, but you don't
04:08even like Trevor Lawrence as a quarterback. So how are you reasonably confident? Cause it's
04:12great. Cause there is, there is an element of, well, it's one week. And if we think back to
04:18previous seasons and I'm, I know it's different. I know the roster looks different. Kevin Stefanski
04:23got housed in his first game as Browns head coach. And then they went on to win 11 games
04:28and beat Pittsburgh in the playoffs. And I guess maybe if you want to hold onto something,
04:32it's that idea right there. But Jacksonville had, I mean, it's not as if Trevor Lawrence
04:35completed a bunch of passes. I think it was 18 in total. 10 of them went to different Jacksonville
04:39receivers. They were not just spreading it to a couple and making the, the known names that
04:45we, the guys we know of the Parker Washington's, the Jacoby Myers, the Brian Thomas juniors, they
04:49weren't just doing that 10 different Jacksonville receivers caught a pass. Yeah.
04:53And he was, he was picking apart who we wanted to throw these balls. And it usually
04:56was anyone that miles Harden was guarding. Yeah. They picked on him. It's funny after
05:01last year, I kind of, I did give softened. I, I gave miles Harden the Peterland pass for
05:07last year because it was his first real kind of experience. And you know, like I, I think
05:12it was Dustin. I think Dustin said this a few times that he thought playing nickel was
05:16actually way harder than playing outside. And so like, I've always tried to give miles
05:21Harden the, the pass. I can't, I mean, he was just, I don't know. I don't know. Like the
05:25proper adjective to describe how bad he was yesterday on top of every other thing. The
05:31idea that one player stands, nobody really to me stood out as like the best of the, you
05:36know, the, the bad performances. Somebody definitely stood out as the worst of all the
05:41bad performances. Yeah. Uh, it'll be interesting to see as the week goes on, how much criticism
05:45Ruttenberg is going to start taking. He took a lot for that, that violence comment that
05:49is coming back to bite him in the butt. But the idea that, I mean, first 24 hours is
05:52all about just complaining about the quarterback and the head coach. I imagine by the end of
05:56the week, Ruttenberg is going to be spotlighted pretty, pretty intense. Okay. Was he wrong?
06:00The defense was violently assaulted by Trevor Lawrence and Liam Cohen. So violently assaulted
06:05our eyeballs is what was violently assaulted. I think people just misconstrued Rudy's words
06:10there. Like that man played a, what was the little people soft, a little people football,
06:15sprint football, sprint football. Yeah. Little people football at Yale. Yes. Five, seven
06:18and under. You think that guy doesn't know violence in football. Come on now. They got
06:23great pursuit angles, great launch angles. Cause they're so low to the ground. Uh, the
06:28Jared verse thing, what listen, I don't want to do the victory lap on the miles thing. Uh,
06:33I, it felt gross on Friday morning when people were doing it on Thursday, the jokes are fine,
06:37but when people seriously had their barbs out about like, you know, that they were glad that
06:43miles was struggling. I wasn't there. I was pretty sad for miles when it came out that
06:47miles is going to be on the IR and he had to have knee surgery, but it was gift wrap

06:53Jared verse to just go out there and have like three place. If he had three good place that
06:59I could remember off the top of my head, maybe a sack and a QB, you know, whatever I did

07:18there are moments I forgot he was even on the field. Yeah. I mean, that's how bad it got for
07:22Jared verse. You can't have that. You just can't have that. And obviously there's a lot that happens
07:27when miles is on the field and the attention that gets brought to miles. But when you were watching
07:30miles for all the years that you watch miles defensively, you started those, your eyeballs
07:35started at miles Garrett on every play. I legitimately lost track of Jared verse multiple
07:40times. And Jared did make mention that he was getting chipped more and stuff like that. Well,
07:46welcome to being compared to and treated like miles Garrett for the rest of time, because now
07:51you're inextricably linked to him for the rest of time as well. Yeah. I mean, I, I maintained,
07:56I thought all off season, I made the point, uh, about the idea that it was going to be harder

08:00here, uh, than the relative to what he had with the Rams. It should just be obvious statements,
08:03but like the Rams and so many pass rushers and so many guys that gave them lanes and opportunities
08:08that just wasn't going to happen here. I don't feel like the Browns offense is going to know.
08:13Well, they have to improve because anything, I don't know. You could be as bad as this week
08:18offensively. I think, I think both sides have that area. Here's the thing. Defensively. Uh,
08:24I think it was, was it 48, 49 offensive plays? 48 was the number 48. Okay. So that's,
08:32that is part of the defense being put in a bleep situation. So I do think, uh, if the offense
08:38goes
08:39out there and I, I'm, I'm just thinking, looks like an NFL offense, probably the defense isn't
08:45going to suck just quite as much. It's not the number one reason. Maybe I'd give that more if
08:50the collapse happened later in the game and then we could blame the heat. And then we could talk
08:53about how the offense just didn't give enough of an opportunity, but it was the, it was really the
08:56first five possessions and the first four possessions we saw in the first half that kind of just sunk

09:08There's really no defense of this defense. First two drives, Nick, you'll allow two 20 plus yard
09:15completions and five completions of 10 plus yards in the first two drives alone by Jacksonville.
09:20And they obviously scored in the first four possessions, but they were, they were doing
09:23whatever they wanted. It was, it was truly just, I I've never seen Trevor Lawrence deal in the way
09:28that he was dealing. Okay. So on those first two drives, run that stat by me again.

12:11two and you will like it. However, whoever has this, like I want off this, I'm not really
12:16enjoying it though. There was nothing about when a team plays with no energy and it looks
12:21like the Sean was foisted upon them or forced on them. And because of that, they look like
12:28they have no energy and no want to be there. That's really tough. You made the game unwatchable.

12:35that, if we move how bad to Sean was and how unwatchable the game was and how just unfun
12:41it was, you know, football's back, baby. We only waited eight months for this, right?
