00:02There are raids are happening with regard to an allegation of a scam in the previous government and over private

00:09There have been raids specifically targeted with the former minister of the Tamil Nadu government.
00:15And here's what the latest that is coming in on this case.
00:17Remember why this is important is this is with regard to education also that's happening.
00:23We are told and this is about the Chennai crime branch intensifying the probe.
00:29What they're alleging is about a 100 crore rupees fraud involving private schools.
00:33Search has been conducted at Tiruchirpalli residence of former school education minister who's also DMK leader Anbil Mahesh.
00:39And that money was collected from private school management on the promise of securing government approval, recognition, other statutory clearances.
00:49The CCB earlier arrested DMK functionee BT Arsakumar in June in connection with the same case.
00:55Police is alleging that more than 100 crore rupees was collected from several school management through such assurances.
01:03Former chief minister and DMK chief M.K. Stalin has slammed the raid as political mendata, alleging it is meant
01:08to divert attention from issues facing the state.
01:11Stalin also attacking the TVK government over power cuts, protests, law and order issues while criticizing chief minister's London visit.
01:17But DMK says it will be legally challenging the raid as well and the leaders are staging protests too.
01:27So this remember is as much of course about a very important issue but is also becoming a political showdown
01:33between the former DMK government and now the TVK government.
01:43So what is this 100 crore rupees private school scam that is facing an allegation right now which is being
01:50invested by the Chennai crime branch?
01:52DMK's Arsakumar has been accused of collecting large amounts of money from schools.
01:58And for what basically to give them any sort of clearances, approvals, recognition if required.
02:03The promise was of upgradation and remember there are constant approvals that are needed with different respects whether it's infrastructure

02:18Now Arsakumar did face a raid, was arrested also by the police but he was arrested in the month of
02:25June, this year itself.
02:26And then it appeared that the case is closed but then more raids happened.
02:30Complaints relate to 2024 to 2026 which was the MK Stalin governments of the DMK.
02:37Now as that was being investigated and especially after the change of the government that we have witnessed,
02:42Anbil Mahesh who was the former education minister in the DMK government, was the education minister during that same period.
02:48So that is why now the focus comes on him apart from of course the onus and responsibility on former
02:53chief minister MK Stalin.
02:55And that is why his house has been raided, he's been booked under the Craft Act by the police and
03:02they are looking at what next step to take.
03:04The crime branch is probing Anbil Mahesh's alleged role and we say alleged because these are allegations for now but
03:09it's not looking good.
03:10Because if in any form there's a chain trail that is found at the doorstep of Anbil Mahesh, that could
03:16be jail time also for the minister.
