00:13I'm thrilled about this recognition. I have been a member of SIGRE since the early 90s.
00:20I have been involved in many study committees and working groups, and I'm really excited
00:27that the SIGRE colleagues, the evaluation committee of SIGRE, has honoured me with this highest recognition
00:35of SIGRE, the SIGRE medal. SIGRE has played a very important role in my career. I have learned
00:41a lot from the technical knowledge of SIGRE. I have been able to transfer this knowledge
00:47also to my students and my colleagues, and most importantly, I have made a number of important
00:52friends in SIGRE, and I'm very pleased that I have been here.
01:05The energy transition is one of the biggest challenges of our generation, but it's also
01:10a great opportunity to develop a green, sustainable grid for future generations. So what is the
01:17challenge here? That we need to replace existing fossil fuel generation with clean, renewable
01:23and inverter-based resource generation that has different behaviours, and this is a big
01:29challenge. People expect clean, sustainable electricity supply, and business and industry
01:36expect reliable and secure electricity supply. And this could be conflicting, and the challenge
01:43is to meet both objectives 24-7. So how could we prioritise and meet these deliverables? We need
01:51to invest, we need to create more innovation, accelerate innovation, and we need to collaborate
01:57more. And this week here in Paris, we all collaborated, we all talked together, and we need to continue
02:04this momentum, we need to continue this initiative, and when we go on Monday to our offices, we need
02:09to keep talking. We cannot wait until two years, when we meet here again. So let's do it together.
02:24CAP 31 is one of the multilateral platforms for the climate action, and this year it will be hosted by
02:31Turkey, and the energy transition will be the core of the CAP 31, and clean energy generation, energy
02:40technologies, grid flexibility, and storage will be the main part to discuss for the climate action.
02:46And I would like to invite the whole CIGRE global community for the CAP 31, which will be
02:54one of the main discussions, bringing the head of states, government officials, international organizations,
03:01and the NGOs together to discuss the future of fighting climate change. And it's also a good platform to show
03:11the determination of Turkey for the energy transition and the net zero objective for 2053.
