00:00I
00:33SIGRE is for me the perfect platform to exchange experience with colleagues, with experts all over the world.
00:51I started with SIGRE when I was a young engineer.
00:55I'm not really young now, so I think it must be 40 years ago when I started in a working
01:01group.
01:02And then I became the Austrian delegate in the study committee B2 overhead lines.
01:08And in 2016 I became the chairman of the study committee.
01:20For me and for my professional work, SIGRE is a valuable source for experience, knowledge.
01:28In this respect, I want to draw attention to the NGN Next Generation Network of SIGRE.
01:35It supports young engineers and exactly this happened to me when I was a young engineer.
01:41So I hope that everybody who is now in the NGN group will have a similar career, not everybody of
01:48course, as I had.
01:57My most significant contribution in SIGRE, quite sure, was the first technical brochure I contributed to.
02:06And this gave me an enormous boost for the following years with SIGRE.
02:20The present virtual session is a good solution for the actual situation in the COVID time.
02:29SIGRE has a certain spirit and I fear this certain SIGRE spirit cannot be transported by video.
02:36We need to meet each other face to face to bring this feeling of a big family.
02:44This is important and this helps very much in our work.
02:48I hope we will have this next year again in the 2022 session.
03:01The most important challenges for SIGRE now is the future development of the grid.
03:08I remember in former times SIGRE was very much oriented in technical aspects,
03:14technical, this concrete volume, steel towers, conductors, etc.
03:20This has changed, environmental aspects became more important
03:24and SIGRE considers environmental impacts in all study committees very much.
03:30We also have to think about future developments, the grid of the future
03:36and each study committee, what can we contribute to these future developments.
03:50I see SIGRE in the future very important, very important.
03:55We can be happy today that SIGRE was established in 19, 21, 100 years ago.
04:02If not, we had to establish it now and immediately.
04:05Absolutely.
