00:00Well it was certainly dramatic wasn't it? The Swedish election finally has been decided. It
00:06was a knife-edge vote but what you have seen is that right-wing coalition defeated by a left-wing
00:13alliance. Only around 50,000 votes across the entire country separated the two groups but it
00:20now does seem that Magdalena Andersson, the former Swedish Prime Minister, is likely to become
00:25Prime Minister again. You had seen the right-wing coalition dealing with bringing down violent
00:33crime. They massively reduced levels of asylum. They had net emigration but they will now it seems
00:39be out and you'll have the left-wing alliance in and interestingly enough, Andersson's own party,
00:44the Social Democrats themselves, actually lost eight seats and got what was a pretty terrible
00:50result for them. The Sweden Democrats also lost some substantial support there, lost 11 seats
00:57but in the end it meant that the left-wing alliance winning by three seats, so very very tight there
01:04and yeah the Conservative Prime Minister of Sweden, Alf Christensen, submitting a letter of resignation
01:12and now you can see after a government that took a tough approach on immigration and crime and seemed
01:19to be delivering on that. That will now be out the door and instead you've got what's going to be
01:25a
01:25left-wing government with a left-wing Prime Minister in Magdalena Andersson. Now she still has to do some
01:33negotiations with this sort of bunch of her parties on the left as to how this is all going to
01:38work and
01:39I guess what roles individuals within the parties take within government, so we have to see what
01:48happens on that. But it's interesting as well to look in terms of the vote in a very very close
01:53election
01:53how immigration affected this. So you've seen analysis here for Reuters in the 786 districts where at least
02:0250% of inhabitants were born abroad or their parents were born abroad. The centre-left pick up
02:0873,000 more votes than in the last election and they said this election basically was about voter
02:15mobilisation. Three percentage points higher in terms of turnout in urban districts and of voters
02:24with a non-European background, 13% of voters, 67% of those cast their vote for a left-wing
02:32party. So yeah
02:33a very close election and the end result being that Sweden it seems will return to having a left-wing
