00:26that we're playing so yesterday i watched the raiders and the chargers i'll say it if you don't
00:33want to it's not pretty how'd that go the chargers right now it's not pretty deon i mean losing to
00:37start the season to arizona and vegas you feel like there's a sleeping giant in there or what did you
00:42see um with being a pro like i think it's a week-to-week league right and i don't underestimate
00:51no opponent they have great players and sometimes it takes a a team to turn it on right so like
00:58we've
00:58seen teams start off oh and oh and four and then go undefeated we've seen teams go oh and two
01:03and
01:04then go undefeated so um i don't put nothing past them uh but you know like everybody's start is
01:10different but it was definitely a game they have two great tackles i mean people people say about la
01:21so when you're watching other teams are you is it natural to think that you're focused on
01:26slater or alt or you know the matchup with crosby you're going to see the raiders in a month anyway
01:31um where do your eyes go well i always look at the at the o-line right and i look
01:38at the o-line and
01:39you know like not that i'm in in competition with every tackle but you know i'm in in competition with
01:44every tackle right like i pride myself on being the best tackle which i am and with being that i
01:51look
01:51at the competition and how other people are playing compared to how i'm playing and uh you
01:56know i'm definitely for the big boys because the team doesn't doesn't move without the big guys but
02:03um i'm definitely keeping my eyes zoomed into the o-line and then the defensive rushers and how they
02:09move around how they blitz and how they're rushing on third down compared to first down and how are
02:14they rushing against the run and play action and screens like who's more athletic what kind of moves
02:19do they have oh this guy has a spin move this guy just bull rushes this guy is you know
02:24an athlete
02:25but yeah i'm definitely big the big dogs is where my eyes go and khalil mack is maybe at the
02:32top of
02:32the list when you're talking about chargers pass rushers coming in here oh 100 right have you played
02:37how have you fared against him in the past there must be a couple of meetings in your past oh
02:42yeah i mean
02:43it's it's good on good you know like he's a great player and uh you know it's a physical game
02:49so what
02:50people are gonna see is two players that love football you know and going at it like khalil is a
02:58is a is a student of the game and he plays the game the right way he's physical and he
03:07respects his
03:08opponents like you like you have some guys that that come out and just start you know talking the most
03:13stuff and you have some guys that you know just play the game the way that it's supposed to be
03:17played and uh he's one of those guys but the matchup is it's always intense and it's always good
03:23good and good players man how do you deal with a guy that hasn't earned it yet but is running

03:30mouth oh you're funny um well i tend to shut him up quick man
03:41i tend to just you know shut him up quick eliminate like all that bs noise and i kind of
03:48you know let them like understand and at those levels to this nfl lifestyle well you just had
03:55detroit on thursday night and hutchinson and the you had a great game the bills offense really
04:00hummed against the lions uh thursday to get to two and oh what um stands out from those matchups i
04:08guess bulldog told me 81 percent solo uh snaps he didn't want to get busted again i know because
04:15i was like talking about that final play and you were right there ready to tell me hey i didn't
04:19get help on that on that game winning touchdown which i never said but you know you we i wasn't
04:24communicating effectively despite my many years in the business um happens but anyway yeah um where
04:30were we just like oh yeah no your game against hutchinson and the lions overall right yeah yeah
04:36yeah i mean uh um i think that this is one of my first times really playing against him because
04:40the
04:41last time i played him uh i think that he was hurt like i think that he just got hurt
04:45the the last time
04:46that we uh faced the lions but um he he's a great player you know like he's a great player
04:52and uh i'm a
04:54great player and for two great players to play against like each other like like it was cool but
04:59you know i don't put and nothing past guys like they had a tough week and they had a tough
05:05um
05:05quick turnaround you know like i think that that they had 91 plays the week before and then you know
05:12like we had shoot at least 40 plays in the first half so if you add like that up they're
05:18over 130 reps
05:20in a couple of uh in a few days so it's a it's a it's a tough world man and
05:27you know when you have
05:28guys like that are locked in and their mental is on a different mindset you know like it could be
05:33tough for any player and any defender but i think um i think that he's a great dude personally and
05:40uh
05:40i have no bad words to say and i'm honestly happy that we got that matchup underneath our belt
05:48it's got to be i mean i'm sure you we we probably talked about this last week already in our
05:53initial
05:53visit here and you've probably talked about it hundreds if not thousands of times there's a moment
05:57in this game in the second half where he thinks hutchinson he thinks he's got allen
06:03like he's going to get him down they're in the open field and josh stiff arms them and gets rid
06:08of
06:09the ball but hutchinson is looking at the ref like are you sure the knee wasn't down i'm aiden
06:13hutchinson i had this guy what are we doing here and it's got to be so frustrating for somebody
06:19who's used to maybe just kind of doing whatever he wants with a quarterback to run into that guy
06:24he's like stiff arming him right in the neck and like not today buddy and i don't know man it's
06:30got
06:30to be something to have a front row seat for oh man um definitely is a side row seat because
06:36i'm
06:36looking from the side perspective but um guys are going to meet josh allen multiple times in a year
06:44and uh i'm glad that for the guys that have never seen josh allen they've seen him on the first
06:50game
06:50home opener game where the energy was high deon a lot was made of your change in weight going into
06:56this season i mean the results sound like you couldn't ask for much more but how do you feel
07:02like how do you feel like that's going and tell us for the first time if you would just sort
07:06of like
07:06what went into your your process this not what how you lost the weight necessarily but just sort of
07:11um why why yeah like really what what it was all about you know i for some reason like i
07:20can't get
07:21over the all pro hump right and you know i i know the type of player that i've told myself
07:29i am and i
07:30know the type of player that i need to be and in the off season i just i just said
07:34bro like the film
07:37is very consistent every year right but if it's consistent you know it's just good right it's just
07:43good and to the point that i'm at now in my career i want it to be like outstanding where
07:50it's just like
07:50yeah the first people that were picking for our football team is josh allen and deon dawkins
07:55right and i've told myself i'm going to play as such as that and i don't want to be a
08:01problem
08:02or in any you know hurdle for josh to be as great as he am i want to be the
08:09best version of myself so
08:10i can help josh do what he's been put on this planet to do and that's to win a buffalo
08:15bills
08:16super bowl so um i just said it's easier on the the body some of my og said that it
08:22helps with long
08:23longevity and you know i want to play play ball for a long time so i said you know let's
08:29help
08:29these knees out and let's drop let's drop a quick 40 so i got the boxing i got the walk
08:33-in i got to
08:34eat right i got to drink in two gallons of water a day all all of the unfun stuff you
08:39know like the
08:40boring things you know i just fell fell in love with and you know i like the way and i
08:44look i look
08:45better who doesn't who doesn't love two gallons of water a day though i mean i don't know how i
08:51don't
08:51know how much how that isn't fun but okay like that's i did it i lost 30 pounds a couple
08:56years
08:56ago and there was a lot of water involved and not a lot of you know other drinks in that
09:01in that
09:01situation no beer no beer but i'll use every i'll use any excuse like i remember talking to somebody
09:10once and like you know here's beer here's wine and then here's liquor i'm like well they said well
09:14liquor is the least fattening like okay right okay well that's okay then right go for an old-fashioned

10:21people run out of gas people want to want to make um vacation trips and away trips to to to

10:35closest and most realest partners and uh i appreciate them they do a lot and they do a good job
10:41and i honestly think that it's a beautiful fit but you know a lot of people will and benefit from

10:52have like this membership now where you know if you sign up for it like you get a bunch of

10:58with with flights and and bill store gear and tickets and and all this type of like cool like
11:03like cool things but you know it works out and it's been working out perfect i hear there's a
11:08discount at the store the bill store on tuesdays during the season so that'd be tomorrow if you
11:13signed up and a license plate frame i've never had one of those i usually just use the one that
11:18the dealer gives me and not uh change it because i get my hands dirty but they haven't they have
11:22that
11:22too yes they have all the goods and goodies and goodies and galleys all right and i'm supposed to ask
11:30you one more question about this does it cost more to do this through the bills than like a regular
11:35triple a membership no no it doesn't cost any more and if i'm sure it's probably cheaper um but
11:42the time is now the time is now i have a membership and uh i love mine because i definitely
11:49have ran out
11:50of gas a couple of times and i definitely book a couple of trips through their experiences so um
11:55it's working out great you get you get more than that 10 off at that store i hope
12:00uh we get the family discount you know what i'm saying something and sometimes they they might
12:05say i'll just take it dion you know just go ahead yeah uh but for the most part yeah a

13:03game last night but the chiefs look like maybe they're like back in the back you know they're back
13:09uh not that they were ever really gone but last year you know they lost six in a row to
13:13end the year
13:14and mahomes got hurt but it looks like uh your old friends are are are back like maybe they're
13:18going to be around all year i mean good friends old friends rivals i'm glad that our friends are
13:26doing good kansas city 2-0 at miami this week with deon dawkins just seeing deon as we're talking that
13:35the chargers are putting two tight ends on ir from injuries incurred yesterday david in joku yeah
13:42a leg injury right that didn't look great and uh charlie colar fantasy darling a little bit
13:50colar not that he's ever really done anything production wise but you know we liked him
13:53forearm injury both going on ir let's talk about tight ends and the role they're playing in your
13:59offense i mean this this is all the rage now two and three tight ends 12 13 personnel and and
14:05the
14:05bills have been at the front of it you and the rams the bills and the rams yeah like what
14:10does that do
14:10as you see it either tactically or even psychologically to a defense man the tight ends
14:17definitely add another aspect right when you have a real elusive skilled like tight end it lets you
14:23kind of cheat code like where you can have an extra receiver on the football field almost like a jumbo
14:28uh tackle on goal line imagine having a jumbo receiver during the the duration of of field play
14:37right like um that's kind of the spark that a tight end brings and honestly like every game they're
14:44kind of showing how they are honestly one of the most important positions on the football field because
14:49it keeps the quarterback clean with with blocking which our tight ends do and then they could also go
14:55for a deep ball and you know get us from backed up which we've seen against the texans right like
15:01our guys do a great job and consistently we depend on our tight ends for blocking right so uh i'm
15:10thankful
15:10i'm thankful for rob boris i'm thankful for joe brady and i'm thankful for our group of uh tight end
15:17soldiers how how is it that you're if i may ask tight within joku i mean you might know most
15:24players in
15:25the nfl at this point having been in the league for a decade now but what's your connection with him
15:29you know david david was born in jersey and i'm a jersey guy and uh me me and david both
15:35live in
15:36florida and uh we're living in florida you know the the worlds are are pretty close and uh david is
15:43one of my best friends you know like i hang out and with david all off season we and we
15:47train together
15:48we hang out and uh he's just been one of my honestly longest friends in the football world but uh
15:57david is
15:58one of my of my close of my close buddies man and uh and anytime the injury presents you know
16:05it's a it's a tough world but uh i got him and uh i'll be checking on him every day
16:11when you played
16:13at temple yeah did you play at the vet or were you out of it were they out of the
16:16vet by then they
16:17probably were the link the link in financial field yeah i guess maybe there you would have played there
16:22yeah the vet the vet yeah they uh they uh i'm old yes and we played there and it's cool
16:30and that
16:30you asked about it because we've we've only sold it out twice and i was against penn state and notre
16:35dame and the majority of the fans there were penn state and notre dame yeah i used to be on
16:41the
16:42syracuse broadcast that was at the vet when i was working for them with mcnab was just out of there
16:47i
16:47were talking to him on the field during a you know between plays and it didn't seem like temple
16:52really had the crowd that day either like it was just sort of you know not that syracuse traveled
16:57necessarily either but it would have i mean that would have been tough right i mean you you have the
17:01opposite existence as a pro playing for this team where you go on the road and bills fans are like
17:06all
17:07over you i would think most most stadiums yeah it's uh and i think what you're asking is uh
17:15it was drastically different right like going from temple to the nfl to buffalo right and i always say
17:22and when people ask me like like temple was a great school but it wasn't like it wasn't like going
17:29to
17:30like an sec or you know like a clemson like one of those schools like like it was like it
17:35was going
17:36to like a smaller tier d1 school right and with going to a smaller tier d1 school like you don't
17:42really get that college football super experience which we we had a great experience but you know
17:48coming to buffalo when i first got here like 10 years ago uh i immediately said man this is probably
17:55what playing out of alabama feels like or or like an auburn or like a georgia this is probably what
18:01it
18:01felt like every week every home game and you know i was blessed to have that and to feel that
18:08fan base
18:08because this fan base is one of a kind and they definitely show why they are you know the best
18:15fans in the world well it's been it's been cool it's convenient the conversation has led us here we
18:20probably should have maybe led with the stadium and you know the first regular season game in there
18:25was such a it's you know it's already i'll use the excuse that it was thursday so it feels like
18:30a long
18:30time ago already rather than a game that had just happened yesterday i had triple a question but but
18:35first first first first game first real game in the new joint first of all how was the grass
18:41oh beautiful night night and day of difference uh but it was perfect perfect is perfect well that is
18:48good to hear it's a real perfect yeah and like what else stands out loud your first game in there
18:53yeah
18:53like how was it louder than the old place it was it was i would say honestly it was three
18:58times
18:59louder than the old stadium the and the old stadium was all and ready loud but this was one of
19:04the
19:04loudest stadiums i've ever been in and i might just stamp it like it was def this is the loudest
19:09stadium in the nfl and uh my analogy of it is like you know like like i'm a car guy
19:16right so
19:16um bmws ferraris like mustangs like rose royces phantoms like stuff like that and if you get in
19:22if you ever sit inside of a rose royce or like um like a phantom right in the car it's
19:29a luxury car
19:30and obviously like the roof comes over and but your head but there's stars in the ceiling right
19:34so my analogy for what the stadium felt like it felt like you were in a in a luxury car
19:40and like
19:40a rose royce right like you're in the car the and the stadium hugs you of the fans hugging you
19:45and
19:46then if you look up like the stadium is open it was a night game so always seen with stars
19:50at the top
19:51right and it was and it was beyond incredibly beautiful right and i go i'm blessed to go to
19:56the super bowl every year with walter payton man of the year and looking at how the super bowl is
20:03when
20:03when they cut the lights off and where they have the light show and a performer and a halftime and
20:09and and all these great things that stadium on thursday night felt like what a super bowl experience
20:17feels like at the end of every year damn see it all comes back to triple a again cars
20:24cars there it is snow motorsports big cars man no joke right no no joke no drifting in a rolls
20:32royce no no that's what i said you could definitely drift you could definitely drift in a rolls royce
20:36if if i'm driving if i'm driving well maybe we'll get a ride someday uh very good thank you dion
