00:00Another damaging storm heading toward Hawaii.
00:03Once again, the big island of Hawaii will bear the brunt of this storm.
00:09The storm's name, Nolo, right now meandering south of the islands.
00:15It will continue to get better organized and strengthened.
00:19That dip in the jet stream north and west of Hawaii is going to pull Nolo northward.
00:24And for Hawaii, this is the worst case scenario for a tropical cyclone in that it's coming in from the
00:33south and it's going to slow down.
00:35Now, it isn't going to make landfall, we don't think, but it is going to meander and move very slowly
00:42south of the big island Friday, Saturday and into Sunday morning, which means there's going to be an extended period
00:50of heavy rain.
00:51There will be some impacts in Maui, Oahu, and back toward Kauai, but it's the big island that will bear
00:59the brunt of the heaviest rain, two to three feet of rain in the favored areas that's going to lead
01:06to life-threatening and devastating flooding.
01:09We have an AccuWeather local storm acts of 55 inches, and to put that in the historical context, the state
01:15record for Hawaii is 58 inches set in 2018 by Lane.
01:22The wind is going to be strong as well, especially southern part of the big island, wind gusts 60 to
01:2880 miles per hour.
01:29And on the southeastern side of the island, a devastating storm surge as well.
