00:00So this is my tip for cleaning leeks.
00:02All right, so we got a couple leeks here.
00:03So you can see all the dirt in between all the ribs
00:06and you don't wanna eat that.
00:07It's super grainy.
00:08What we need to do is open this leek up.
00:10I'm gonna give you my culinary school move.
00:12I basically scored it and then I scored it again.
00:15And so essentially it's a plus sign, right?
00:18So you got this end, that end,
00:19and then we're gonna chop this into small pieces.
00:22So then we're gonna pop this in the bowl
00:24and I'll bring the bowl to me.
00:26And you're just gonna agitate it.
00:27So all those layers come undone.
00:30And what's happening now is all of the dirt
00:33and the aggregate starting to go to the bottom of the bowl.
00:35And then since these are really dirty,
00:37I'm actually gonna wash them twice.
00:38And you don't wanna just pour it out.
00:40Like say you were gonna strain this.
00:42You don't wanna just pour this into a colander.
00:43You actually wanna lift it out like that.
00:46And the reason being is that you want all the dirt
00:49to stay in the bottom of the bowl.
00:50And I'm just gonna put this on a nice clean linen.
00:53And now you can start to look at these leeks
00:54and how beautifully clean they are.
00:57And you can start to look at them.
00:59Don't put you in the morning order.
