00:00In a recent video, I talked about the origin of the Christ Health Center Community Clinic,
00:06which I had some negative dealings with back in 2019.
00:12The Birmingham Dream Center Community Development Hub and Christ Health Woodlawn came out of this deal,
00:20which led to these facilities opening in 2009.
00:24CEO Robert Record approached Pastor Chris Hodges and sought a $500,000 investment.
00:34Now, the Church of the Highlands is a megachurch in the Birmingham, Alabama area.
00:40The address of the main Grants Mill campus is 4700 Highlands Way, Irondale, Alabama 3521O.
00:52Founded by Pastor Chris Hodges in 2001, this expanded to 26 campuses in Alabama and Georgia
01:02and an average weekly attendance of 60,000 people.
01:07The estimated net worth of Church of the Highlands $500,000 and $700,000,000 U.S.
01:17There is a lot of hype out there.
01:19They want you to think that everybody in Birmingham is their friend, everybody is their partner,
01:25business is booming, they've got branches springing up all over Alabama.
01:30In 2020, the Housing Authority of Birmingham ended a relationship with CHC and COTH.
01:40The district board voted to cut ties for resident outreach programs and social services at its campus of Hope,
01:49located in the Marks Village public housing community.
01:52Following some of the scandals that rocked the Church's leadership,
01:58Commissioner said Pastor Hodges' views do not reflect those of HABD and its residents.
02:05Highlands had a two-year partnership with the Housing Authority.
02:09My rundown of issues with Christ Health Center, Birmingham, Alabama,
02:14I believe I received no measurable level of service in my visit.
02:19I was charged the same amount of money, $110, to see the doctor and MD as the nurse, a nurse
02:28practitioner.
02:29Other medical practices around Birmingham, I paid roughly half of that price.
02:37Christ Health partners with Ascension, St. Vincent's Hospital.
02:42It looks like either Christ Health decided to ignore my injury or were ordered to ignore my injury.
02:49And I believe this is to protect the reputations and million-dollar salaries of the, quote, professionals, unquote, involved.
02:58I also believe it may have been patient-dupped, and that's a violation of EMTALA, E-M-T-A-L
03:04-A, in the course of my seeking treatment.
03:06I was a self-paid patient, I had no insurance, and I could provide no stated source of income.
03:13Dr. Terry Daniel Smith, MD, outright refused to grant me a referral for an MRI.
03:20Just a few days later, I got that MRI, had to pay cash out of pocket,
03:25and broken bone surrounded by infection shows up in that scan.
03:31Broken bone also shows up in the CT scan.
03:34He claims in his notes in my medical chart to have reviewed in detail.
03:40I was billed $50 for a hemoglobin blood test and electrocardiogram I never received.
03:47And yeah, I think taking money from people who don't have anything, such as myself, is obscene.
03:54Nurse Musgraves wrote in her report that she suspected psych etiology to explain my symptomology.
04:01And this is absolutely wrong.
04:03Broken skull bone is visible in the MRI, CT, and X-ray that I've had done.
04:09Nurse practitioner Anna Musgraves agreed to give a referral when I secured my MRI.
04:17So I had to go out and find another medical practice with the equipment who could do the scan.
04:24I was given three avenues of financial assistance to pursue, and all three of these led to dead ends.
04:32I did not qualify.
04:34This is for Ascension Access to Care, Cooper Green Hospital, and UAB Hospital in Birmingham, Alabama.
04:40After I paid $500 cash out of pocket for an MRI at American Health Imaging in downtown Birmingham on the
04:50south side,
04:52the diagnostic center staff told me that they needed a medical referral.
04:58I informed them to call Christ Health Center in Woodlawn.
05:02They were put on hold 15 minutes, and then someone, we don't know who, at Christ Health Center hung up
05:10the telephone.
05:11They backed out on giving that referral.
05:13I believe somebody didn't want me to get this MRI scan because it would show the truth of an injury
05:20that I was told I did not have.
05:22A medical doctor I had no interaction with, also strangely edited, and signed off on my records and chart days
05:32following that visit.
05:34This was shortly after I lodged my first official complaint for lack of service from Christ Health.
05:41This doctor was Beverly Vonderpool.
05:46I put all my records from this visit in several hours worth of video on YouTube channel, My Medical Nightmare.
05:54You can go there and see my side of this story.
05:58Deborah Pickens also tells me that a letter with a statement was going to be put in the mail to
06:06me after that August 2023 meeting.
06:09And what I can say is I have not yet received this promised letter.
06:15One year later, they know my address, too, because they sent me those bills for those medical services that weren't
06:22performed on me.
06:23So people out there looking at health care options in the Birmingham, Alabama area, please take my experience to heart.
06:31And I would advise that you look elsewhere when seeking medical treatment from a doctor or a nurse.
06:40And I think I have a person with applesaule for them, but stay attentive to me as well.
06:41So people out there looking at the doctor, I ask if he's having a deal on you know why that's
06:42left.
06:42I think they're going to take advantage of what they were, by my одна kunst couple times.
06:43I think in my background, I see a situation where they endroit where they had been successful.
06:43What they call this question is, with noints andmes, even if network does not have an issue, usually contact me.
06:43You
