00:00So Quinn was asked a lot of questions about Jaden Daniels yesterday in his Monday post-Seattle game press conference.
00:09After he had announced that Jaden was going to make the trip to London and would practice this week,
00:14nothing on whether or not his return to play means this Sunday against the Colts in London.
00:22He was asked about the injury last year and whether or not they have a better sense about when he'll
00:29be back this year.
00:29Here's what he said.
00:32And with regards to Jaden, I'm sorry if I was something you said either earlier today or earlier in the
00:37week.
00:38Last time when he suffered the first dose location, he was out a month, three games for the bye week.
00:44Is there something different with the injury that gives you hope that he could be back sooner than that now?
00:49Yeah, just for me, I guess, you know, hearing from the medical team about where it's at and how he's
00:55doing,
00:56I'd say that's the difference.
00:57But as far as the compare and contrast, I don't have an answer for you on that,
01:02only that just following the guidelines that are set and for him going through the process of getting the opinions,
01:08you know, both in New York and in L.A., you know, kind of like sets the plan in motion.
01:14And so we'll stick to that.
01:17You know, I watched the part of the press conference that they had online.
01:21They actually missed the first few minutes, went back and read the transcript of that.
01:25He didn't really give much indication of what the thinking is.
01:31He's going to practice, you know, he's in that process that Quinn calls return to play.
01:38So they're going to evaluate him in practice.
01:41I mean, is it possible that he dresses and he's the backup Sunday against the Colts?
01:47Doubtful.
01:48If he can play, he should be the starter Sunday against Indianapolis.
01:52I think that that's what it should be.
01:54But I'm also not privy to all the doctor stuff.
01:58This could be naivete.
01:59I'll concede that.
02:01Or just too much faith in the medical group and the ability for Quinn and company and the organization
02:10to take the medical advice verbatim.
02:13Uh, I just find it hard to believe that if he needed four weeks last year after the first time,
02:22and I know that this was not nearly the traumatic injury that the Seattle game was last year.
02:27And for all I know, the thing's completely healed.
02:30It just was, they punched it back into the socket or whatever.
02:33And there's no swelling.
02:35There's no issues.
02:36He's ready to play.
02:37And they're going to do a brace maybe, you know.
02:40I don't know enough about that.
02:41But I think if he's cleared to play this week, I think he should start against the Colts Sunday in
02:49London.
02:50And Mariota played great.
02:51He did exactly what they wanted him to do in the event that they needed him to do it
02:58when they decided to sign him back for a third consecutive season.
03:02A smart free agent signing to bring Marcus Mariota back.
03:07You know, he's a quarterback that is a veteran that you know has the ability to go in and run
03:14an offense,
03:16function at an NFL starter level.
03:19And he's similar stylistically to Jaden.
03:24So it's not like you have to significantly change the game plan.
03:28Like if Flacco were the backup quarterback, you'd have to significantly change things to a certain degree.
03:33Maybe not as much in the Blau scheme as the Kingsbury scheme.
03:37But if Jaden's cleared to play and he's going through practice and he's practicing and he looks good,
03:48I want him to play on Sunday.
03:50I want him to start.

08:27but you've got to absolutely chuck them and move them around down the field
08:32and commit a penalty to make sure that he doesn't get free clearance.
08:36You have to do that with flowers at the very least.
08:39And you could do that with anyone.
08:41You just make it less obvious.

08:53when they had that third and four run to White from their own 40 with about 30 seconds,
08:59that was, I don't know if Mariota checked to that, but that needed to be a run play, period.

09:08If they called a pass play and he checked to a run play, they're wrong.
09:11They have to, if he gets the four-yard run, then you go on and you continue to drive
09:16and get close or maybe even score, whatever.
09:17If you don't get the first down and you get two yards, you then take it down like they did.
09:23If you throw the incomplete pass on third and four, you're now stuck with the 57-yarder.

09:34Now, you know, that's incredibly conservative thought, okay, because with 33 seconds to go

09:50better field goal range.
09:51And by the way, with a big chunk play, you can actually potentially take a shot or two at the
09:56end zone.
09:56But to prevent the downside, which is a missed field goal after an incomplete pass, and now
10:03Seattle is one completion away from a field goal attempt, I get that.
10:07And if that was a check, I'd have to go back.
10:11I think he did check to a run.
10:12It doesn't mean that he checked to a run from a pass.
10:15He could have checked to a different run from a different run.
