The Chief Justice of India addressed the media regarding the request by INDIA bloc leaders for an administrative meeting, confirming that he declined the appointment after reviewing their letter. The Chief Justice stated that engaging on the administrative side on matters that are sub judice could create a conflict of interest, an assessment arrived at in consultation with fellow senior judges. Emphasising judicial propriety, the CJI underlined that the doors of the Supreme Court remain open to every citizen and elected representative through appropriate judicial petitions, assuring that all grievances presented in accordance with the law will be heard. Responding to queries concerning ongoing protests and demonstrations in the national capital, the CJI declined to offer remarks on political controversies, clarifying that demonstrations and public order remain a law and order matter rather than an issue for judicial administration. The bulletin also examined public interest litigation and court proceedings surrounding the Election Commission and public inconvenience caused during protests.

00:00I would like to ask that I will not be able to get it.
00:06What are the reasons for your side?
00:09I would like to ask you to ask the letter to the contents of that letter.
00:13I would like to ask the confidentiality to maintain it.
00:15All the representatives of the parliament have already been there.
00:18How are you talking about it?
00:20Are you talking about the CJPB two days?
00:23The Supreme Court is open to everyone.
00:27I am talking about the current Supreme Court.
00:32For all that, they will be responsible for their personal attention.
00:36We will have to rely on the Laurenti, which with pleasure,
00:43and we will try to attract further citizens.
00:44For the new Especiallyerns,
00:46we will be able to give our rights.
00:47The last question, what are the conditions?
00:49What are the conditions of the UN?
00:51It is the definition of the UN.
00:54I have seen the JPC and One Nation, One Nation, One Pole was also denied appointment.
01:03Chief Jatum Tan, there was an informal meeting.
01:05So all the grounds are safe.
01:07No, there are more grounds.
01:10There are more grounds.
01:11I have seen the one from one.
01:12There is more grounds.
01:13You will see that I have said that there is a conflict of interest.
01:16It can come to the court.
01:22I and my senior judge-saheba and all of them had a view that we should avoid conflict of interest.
01:33I will not comment on that.
01:47Speaking about the request by opposition leaders, the India Bloc meeting request, the Chief Justice very clearly saying that the
01:57doors of the court are open to anyone who wants to file a petition but it will not be appropriate
02:03to meet political leaders on the administrative side because this is a matter that is before a judicial bench.
02:11He cannot meet the India Bloc leaders in this manner but he is not making any remarks whatsoever about what
02:19was actually in the letter.
02:20He is refusing to make any remarks about the protest itself saying that everything has to be handled on the
02:28judicial side, that the Supreme Court as a whole, all the judges together decided that it would not be appropriate.
02:35There would be a conflict of interest if there was any kind of meeting on these issues, especially when the
02:44matter is subjudice, when the matter is going to be before the court.
02:55Shambhavi is live with me on this story.
02:58Shambhavi, we saw this happening over the last several controversies that everyone wants to come to the court, everyone wants
03:06the Supreme Court to respond on things.
03:08When we saw the letter being sent to the Chief Justice's office by the India Bloc, the Congress leadership saying
03:16that they have an appointment to meet the Chief Justice.
03:20Now the Chief Justice making it very, very clear on camera that the court's doors are open to any and
03:27all petitioners but it is not appropriate to meet somebody, to meet a political leader,
03:33that there may be a conflict of interest if there is a meeting on the administrative side for an issue
03:39which is before the court.
03:41Shambhavi, what more can you tell us about what's been happening about this meeting and about the protest on the
03:47streets?
03:52Sinesha, there are two parts to this entire matter.
03:54First is when the leader of opposition is asking for an appointment for a meeting with CGI, especially on a
04:03matter with the subjudice, as you say,
04:05that will, the moment it was actually expressed in the media, it was, it can be understood that this was
04:12not going to be possible.
04:13Again, given the matter is subjudice and to seek an appointment with the CGI, that will come under conflict of
04:20interest.
04:20Of course, CGI has sent his response via email and extensive reason about why this is not an appropriate time
04:27for them to meet.
04:29Another part being what Supreme Court has been reiterating again and again, even in the Sunday special sitting,
04:35they said that we are going to hear everybody, all of you will get a chance to speak.
04:39Stay on with me for a moment, let's listen in once more to what the Chief Justice has actually said
04:46to the cameras as he attended the NHRC event.
04:50Is there any questions?
04:51Can you please tell us, how people will they meet the students in these conversations?
04:55I have asked him the letter to the minister to the government,
04:57I have the letter to them.
04:59I am out of the room, so I have the letter to the minister to the minister.
05:04So I have the letter to the minister in the evening, so I have the answer to that at night.
05:06So there are a few reasons I have provided them on the basis of what's the basis?
05:10I would like to ask that I will not be able to get it.
05:16I would like to ask that I will ask that I will be able to get it.
05:23The representatives of the parliament have been in which way.
05:28The CCP has two days to protest.
05:31The Supreme Court has been open for any petition.
05:34foreign
06:05Shambhavi is continuing to be with me on this story.
06:08Shambhavi, the Chief Justice, saying that he has made his reasoning clear that the court,
06:12the senior judges of the court and the Chief Justice together decided that it would be a conflict of interest
06:18if they spoke to a political leadership, a gathering of political leaders.
06:23What more can you tell us about what's happening in the court and outside the court?
06:31See Nisha, as I was saying before that the Supreme Court has been very clear and has reiterated time and
06:38again
06:38that the doors of Supreme Court is open.
06:40That is why we saw multiple, not one, not two, but multiple PILs being filed for the special bench hearing
06:49on Sunday
06:50where people, more or less the contents of all the PIL were same, citing the inconvenience that was caused
06:56to the common public or the illegal detention or the blanket closing of 45 metro stations
07:02or the troubles that was caused to the common public because of it.
07:06But that is what the CGI has again come forward and said that if Rahul Gandhi wants to meet him
07:13or wants his contentions to be heard, he is more than welcome to file a PIL.
07:18And there is a proper process in matters which is subjudice to actually get a hearing before the court.
07:24So, this was definitely expected in Nisha given again and again SIR has been going on for months.
07:30The hearing on it, for months, extensive hearing has been going on.
07:34And now that writing a letter and then also saying out publicly that they have got an appointment
07:41between 4 to 5 p.m. today which the CGI office clearly declined.
07:45And now you also heard CGI on the camera.
07:47Talking about the protests, of course the scenes here, outside you can see of course
07:51there is mostly media persons, there was some security outside, no barricading,
07:55you can see after the order of the Supreme Court on either side.
07:59Now that barricading that is mostly there most of the time, the barricading that you see on the other end
08:05of the street.
08:05And the traffic is usual, of course there were some concerns that given the security arrangements are heightened outside the
08:15Supreme Court
08:16and that a lot of private vehicles are parked in the parking space which is allotted to the lawyers here
08:22practicing,
08:23that caused a little bit of trouble but then it was quickly sorted out.
08:26So you can see pretty normal Monday for the Supreme Court.
08:32Anisha.
08:33Alright, so Shambhavi, let's also take a look at what's been happening when it comes to, you know, as you
08:38said,
08:38the court is already judicially taking note of all these matters.
08:43Just last week we had PILs seeking suspension of CEC Gyanesh Kumar.
08:48We had these petitions which had raised concerns about, you know, decision making in this election commission which is not
08:57being done properly.
08:59And that hearing of course is at the end of this month.
09:03But let's listen in once more to what the Chief Justice has said this morning.
09:08The Direction of CEC Gyanesh Kumar
09:08The Direction of CEC Gyanesh Paranay
09:14I had the chance to ask him to ask him at night.
09:19I was given a letter on the floor of the floor of the house,
09:20I was outside, so I got the letter on the floor of the house,
09:24so I got the answer on the night.
09:26I have given him for some reasons for which I have given myself a good attitude
09:30that I will not get into the floor.
09:34What other reasons are the two sides?
