Leaders of the INDIA bloc have submitted a petition in the Supreme Court questioning alleged mass voter deletions under the Special Intensive Revision process and the functioning of the Election Commission of India. The plea names Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar and two election commissioners as respondents. However, the petition was not listed for hearing after the Supreme Court registry flagged 14 defects, including questions over naming individual election commissioners, missing affidavits, an illegible identity card copy of Mallikarjun Kharge, and a court fee shortfall. Meanwhile, opposition leaders protested demanding the Chief Election Commissioner's resignation, while the BJP hit back, accusing the Congress and Rahul Gandhi of targeting constitutional institutions after poll losses.

00:01So, in its united fight against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar,
00:04India Bloc leaders have submitted a petition in the Supreme Court.
00:07The plea questions mass voter deletions under the SIR process
00:11and the functioning of the Election Commission of India.
00:14In the plea, the opposition leaders have named Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar
00:18and the two Election Commissioners as respondents,
00:21but the India Bloc's petition has not been listed for hearing today
00:24after the Supreme Court registry flagged 14 defects in the filing.
00:28The objections include questions over naming individual Election Commissioners as respondents
00:33and the pending submission of a legible copy of Congress Chief Malik Arjun Kharge's identity card.
00:39The registry has also flagged missing or unsigned affidavits for nine petitioners
00:44and a court fee shortfall of Rs. 220.
00:47Earlier, Rahul Gandhi thanked the protesters, asserting that the opposition would not back down
00:52and that the people of India would not be intimidated.
00:55He also said that those who defended democracy should be proud of their actions
01:00and called the Prime Minister and the RSS as bullies.
01:04Rahul Gandhi has invited India Bloc MPs for tea at his residence today,
01:08after which opposition leaders will hold a press briefing at 4pm.
01:11The BJP, meanwhile, has branded Rahul Gandhi a Hawa Hawa Ineta
01:15and accused him of targeting institutions whenever Congress loses elections.
01:20The BJP has also accused the opposition of wanting to spread anarchy.
01:26I'd like to thank every single person who came out for this protest.
01:33I'd also like to thank the millions of people
01:38who showed support in their own way at 3 o'clock.
01:43The leaders of India Bloc, all the workers of the Congress Party, workers of the India Bloc,
01:51this was a very important thing because we needed to show the government
01:55that the people of India are not going to be intimidated.
01:58You cannot beat us, you cannot threaten us, you cannot frighten us.
02:04Because we will not accept being bullied.
02:07I was wondering when I was on the bus there,
02:12where the cowards of the RSS who were beating the young children day before yesterday were?
02:18Where were those people? Because I didn't see them.
02:22When we are standing there and when the people of India are standing there,
02:26why don't you come out?
02:27Why don't you wear your little scarves and come out and see what happens?
02:30Because you're essentially like the Prime Minister of India, bullies.
02:37You cannot stand up, you can only use power to fight.
02:41So it's very heartening to see what happened.
02:45I'm proud of everybody, everybody worked like a team.
02:49As I said in my press conference, there are no parallel protests,
02:52there is one protest and it's a protest where everybody is standing together.
02:57Every single person is going to stand against these killers of our constitution,
03:02these killers of our democracy and we're not going to back down.
03:06I'd also like to thank everybody from civil society organizations who came, supported us.
03:14Because we value your support and we love all of you.
03:19Thank you, thank you, thank you for coming out and defending the idea of India,
03:25the idea of the constitution, the idea of our democracy.
03:29I'm extremely proud of every single person who came out on the streets.
03:35Another successful day of protest, another united movement, a united fight for democracy.
03:43This is, this will continue.
03:46We reiterate, we repeat that this protest is not just for one day, two day, three day, four day.
03:52It is for the, it will continue till Gyanesh Kumar resigns.
03:58The intensity of the protest will increase.
04:15This signature campaign is a vote-batch campaign. When the Supreme Court says that matter is sub-judice, when you
04:26have been in BMC elections, then you have to give someone to give you a vote-batch campaign.
04:40But in fact, this is a signature campaign for the people, which is a vote-batch campaign.
04:47This is a vote-batch campaign.
