Congress and other INDIA bloc leaders staged a protest march in Delhi against the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, drawing large crowds across the national capital. Rahul Gandhi could not reach the Supreme Court in person amid the gathering. The Opposition subsequently submitted a petition through the Registrar General rather than meeting the Chief Justice of India directly. The petition names the Election Commission of India, Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar and two Election Commissioners as respondents. The matter is scheduled to be heard by the Supreme Court.

00:08This Monday across the country, particularly in the national capital,
00:12we've been seeing the showdown over SIR, over the CEC.
00:16After Rahul Gandhi held a news briefing, the last few hours,
00:19we've been seeing non-stop action coming in in the streets of the national capital

00:30Southern chief ministers are also there.
00:32We'll give you a sense of who's there, what they have to say,
00:35what's the end game here with this particular protest and this massive, massive show of stress.
00:40That's our top focus here on Super 6.
00:42Also coming up on the show at 6.30pm, as always, as we focus on the southern states,
00:46we'll also talk about the viral images that came in yesterday of Prime Minister Modi's visit to Chennai
00:52and his friendship with Chief Minister Vijay.
00:55Protocol followed, but also messaging by Chief Minister Vijay.
00:59Is this a reset in centre-state ties in Tamil Nadu?
01:02That's something we'll talk about and get you all of those images at 6.30pm this evening.
01:06Let's begin with the headlines.
01:14Opposition ups the ante against CEC Gyanesh Kumar.

01:24Supreme Court likely to hear the plea tomorrow.
01:32Rahul's big claim on CEC Gyanesh says,
01:34Gyanesh keeps messaging me, urges him to turn approver.
01:38BJP goes all guns blazing, cause Rahul's charges absurd and paceless.
02:06BJP holds massive protests across the country against Congress MP Akhoi Jam.
02:10FIR filed against alleged predator professor after getting axed by JNU.
02:16BJP questions silence of Gandhi's.
02:18Congress calls it a diversionary tactic.
02:25Congress' gali politics in pole-bound Uttar Pradesh.
02:28Muman Neta abused in front of top brass.
02:31Former UP Congress Chief Ajay Rai supporters
02:33hurl a barrage of abuses as new chief assumes office.
02:40Conspiracy cloths
02:41I have said it when it never faces.
02:46I am not strong enough.
02:48That's why I have said it.
02:50All right, I mentioned in the press,
02:52occasionally to make my comments after that,
02:54and then the Vielen have touchdown running in thequiest
02:57to you.
02:57Where did it come from?
03:06let's get you the latest updates coming in from the streets of the national capital last few
03:10hours we've seen a showdown like no other as opposition leaders members of parliament have
03:16all come together and are marching towards the supreme court as we speak now there's also a huge
03:22security presence as a result of this agitation in delhi water cannons have been brought in
03:27on standby as these opposition mps are inching closer and closer to the supreme court this even
03:35as several mps led by rahul gandhi have filed a petition in the supreme court against sir
03:41against mass deletion of voters 11 india bloc netas are petitioners in this case this particular case
03:48will come up for hearing in the supreme court the election commission the cec two ecs they've all
03:54been named as respondents in the case so that's a roundup of all the updates you can see on your
03:59screens there those images of rahul gandhi priyanka gandhi akhilesh yadav congress chief ministers like
04:05revant reddy and the likes are all atop that truck as they make their way towards the supreme court
04:11huge crowds that have gathered all along that route congress workers who are going by foot
04:16continuing to take on the chief election commissioner you had rahul gandhi earlier today
04:22this afternoon holding a press conference where once again he demanded accountability from the cec
04:29these are live images so on your screens that are coming in right now as the opposition leaders
04:35make their way towards the supreme court it's still unclear as to what exactly the plan is once they
04:41reach closer because there's multiple layers of barricades placed there for obvious reasons these
04:47crowds are not going to be allowed to get right towards the supreme court's gates they will be
04:52stopped much before that and the question is will they quietly disperse away or are we going to see
04:57a showdown that will play out on the streets of the national capital much like we have in the last
05:04few days
05:04as well every single time we've seen the opposition mps come together they've been detained the one
05:11exception was when rahul gandhi and a handful of opposition mps were allowed to protest at rajgat
05:16it is expected that something similar would happen today that a handful of them would be allowed to
05:20go past the barricades but with the petition already being filed on behalf of rahul gandhi and the india
05:27bloc mps in the supreme court what exactly is the plan of action now is this now a symbolic protest
05:33by the
05:33congress and the opposition to put across a message that they're not going to stop they're not going to
05:39step back they are going to push and power through with their demand for action against the cec this
05:45is now a matter that will go up to the supreme court there have been multiple petitions that have
05:50been filed in this particular case add one more to that this is now the opposition mps also who have
05:57approached the supreme court the cgi also earlier today had written a letter to rahul gandhi to malik
06:03kaj rumkage saying very clearly that the court is open for anyone to come forward and file a petition
06:08for issues to be heard for issues to be brought before them and so in that particular effect you've
06:15got rahul gandhi all the others going ahead and filing the petition on your screens the left of your
06:20screens is in fact a copy of that petition where you can see clearly written there petitioner name
06:26rahul gandhi respondent name election commissioner of india the state is suspending and that's because
06:32the hearing is going to take place tomorrow but we're highlighting for you the important bits
06:36there that the respondent is the election commission of india rahul gandhi is demanding answers from the
06:42cec from the ec as well his legal team as we speak is inside the supreme court rahul gandhi was
06:47to
06:48personally go and give that particular petition but got delayed as a result of this protest and the sheer
06:54number of people who'd gathered on the streets making it impossible for him to reach in time and
06:58that's why you had his team filing the petition on his behalf that's the image on the left of your
07:03screens so now tomorrow is when the top court will be hearing this particular case what that means viewers
07:09is that this isn't going to end anytime soon that this drama uh this dharna this politics is going to
07:16continue on the streets of the national capital the question is what will rahul gandhi do now to up the
07:22ante every single day for the last five days we've seen protests taking place in the national capital
07:27either the opposition or if over the weekend it was the cjp as a result of that now tomorrow will
07:34there be a fresh protest plan or will the focus be completely on the petition being heard in the
07:39supreme court on the right of your screens those live images continuing to come through you've got
07:43rahul gandhi there continuing his agitation munish pande is joining us live with more details on what's
07:51playing out on the streets of the national capital munish good evening this protest has now gone on for
07:56the last many hours what's the end game here munish when does it end rahul gandhi's team has already
08:01filed that plea so what does the opposition want now
08:11well actually at this point of time we are at the mandi house circle and as you can see right
08:18in front
08:18of us is the bus where rahul gandhi along with other leaders are again sitting in the bus we can
08:24also spot they just we are though now uh most of the congress karakartas were still at the mandi house
08:32because they were not allowed to walk towards supreme court only few of the leaders along with some of the
08:37karakartas and uh congress leaders india bloc leaders were allowed to go to supreme court there was a
08:43barricading which was placed by uh the police and the paramilitary forces so most of the crowd was
08:49still here and if i my camera person vinod can show you the visuals around still there are thousands of
08:55congress workers india bloc supporters they are still here you can see uh you know the bus in which
09:02rahul gandhi uh can be seen that bus is now moving towards the same road from which this bus came
09:10which
09:11is the ferocious road whether that will be end of today's uh protest by the congress party it is
09:18yet yet to be seen but again uh once more i would like to show the visuals of what what's
09:24happening
09:24around uh akshita you can see the karakartas are with dhol and lagadas they are you know uh with
09:32the bus in which rahul gandhi is there and uh now uh this bus is moving towards the uh ferocious
09:41arrow there is a barricading by the police but so far akshita what we have seen today is that
09:48at most of the places uh most of the places the police allowed the and the congress supporters to
09:57roam around in this area earlier they came from ferocious road then they went to barakamba road
10:03they took a u-turn from cp and again they came to the same monday house and from here they
10:09went to
10:09supreme court so uh coming back to your question whether again they will be continuing with this
10:16uh uh you know protest march or not that is yet to be seen because uh the bus has now
10:22taken a turn
10:23whether it will be end or not that is still a question but most probably the karakartas the
10:29congress workers are saying that in some time from now they will end their protest in the national
10:35capital akshita case this has been a symbolic stir a symbolic stir where the congress leaders the
10:41opposition leaders have shown off their numbers saying look this is the might this is the support
10:45that we have on the ground on the streets of the national capital shreya chatterjee is also live
10:49with us on this broadcast the original plan was that rahul gandhi would attempt to meet the cgi that
10:55he would attempt to enter the supreme court but because of the sheer crowds that have gathered on
10:59the streets of delhi this evening as a part of this agitation he simply couldn't make it in time so
11:04the
11:04petition has been filed just not personally by rahul gandhi and so that demand itself of the
11:09opposition mp saying we want to meet the cgi that no longer stands
11:19well absolutely uh you know they tried to go to the supreme court they tried to uh reach the doors
11:26of the cgi the cgi obviously clearly said that it is not something which is fit right now the primary
11:31reasons is because there have been multiple petitions of the sir that has already been uh moving in the
11:37supreme court and that's why he said that if you want to meet or if you want to come to
11:41the court
11:41come by the route of the petition so that's what they did they file uh a petition uh via the
11:47registrar
11:48general today and this is the road uh akshita that they were trying to use to march forward to the
11:53supreme court but here is where they will stop and finally after a long hour of tussle between the
11:59police and the protesters finally the roads have been cleared and they've agreed to move back but it was
12:04pretty chaotic situation over here because huge numbers of crowd actually turned up at this very
12:09point uh they didn't quite go till the supreme court but uh the kind of visuals that we saw the
12:15kind of mobilization that we saw that kind of looks like a success for this india blog protest march
12:20that was called today so it looks like things are now calming down in delhi you know there's been
12:26no clash fortunately no sort of ugly uh showdown between the cops and the protesters none of that that
12:33really played out uh because the cops seem to have allowed all of the opposition mps to continue
12:38with their dharna to walk right up till a certain barricaded spot the opposition too has largely
12:44cooperated with the police stopping and turning off just before the barricaded spot making it very
12:50clear that with the petition being filed now before the supreme court which i will remind you once again
12:54will be heard tomorrow in the top court they feel that it's mission accomplished for the day now what
13:00will tomorrow bring a new form of protest or is the focus spotlight going to completely be on the
13:05supreme court nobody really knows because that's how rahul gandhi has kind of been playing it where
13:09every single day he's been changing up strategy he's been whipping up a new game of how to really take
13:14on
13:15the cec how to target the election commission now this petition remember the respondents in the case
13:20have been named as the election commission the cec as well as the two ecs in the case so that
13:26will
13:27come up for hearing tomorrow it'll be interesting to see what really uh comes out as a result of that
13:32particular hearing but i will highlight once again that this isn't the first petition that's been filed
13:36in this matter in the top court but earlier you had also rahul gandhi holding a news briefing where he
13:42reiterated his demands he reiterated what really the congress's plan of action is and how he believes it's not
13:50just the cec gyanish kumar but prime minister modi who must be held accountable here are some of those
13:54highlights
13:55my sister says to me
14:00she plan to do
14:02so my sister said you don't understand
14:07this is
14:08this is
14:11this is
14:12this is
14:13there is no planning
14:17today we are going to supreme court
14:21tomorrow
14:22tomorrow there will be something else.
14:23The idea is written on it.
14:25There is no need to plan.
14:27This dance is going on.
14:29This is the dance of Shivji.
14:31Someone can come here in Shivji.
14:33I told you.
14:35Go back.
14:37Look.
14:39This is Shivji in Shivji.
14:41Someone can come here.
14:43Someone can come here.
14:45We will not stop.
14:47The question is coming to the police.
14:50This is the question.
14:51That is the question.
14:51We are going to stop.
14:56We are going to stop.
14:59We are going to stop.
15:01We are going to stop.
15:03We are going to stop.
15:04This is the question.
15:05Home Ministry.
15:06Delhi Police.
15:07CRPF.
15:09ITBP.
15:13BJP.
15:14GOONS.
15:17RSS.
15:18GOONS.
15:19GOONS.
15:2050% of the police.
15:2350% of the police.
15:26I am saying.
15:2750% of the police.
15:39You have done a crime.
15:56You have done a crime.
15:58And frankly.
16:01You are not the main criminal.
16:05You made a mistake.
16:08You have made a mistake.
16:10You have made a mistake.
16:12You are not the mind behind.
16:15The mistake.
16:16We are after the people.
16:19Who are behind.
16:21What you did.
16:23It is very easy for you.
16:25Resign.
16:26Get out of the way.
16:28No problem.
16:30We might even think of forgiving you.
16:34Because that will be a service to this nation.
16:36That will be a service to this constitution.
16:41We know.
16:42That you have been forced by the Prime Minister.
16:44By Amit Shah.
16:44By Mr. Doval.
16:45By Mr. Adani.
16:46We know it.
16:47And we understand the type of pressure you are under.
16:50And we are forgiving people.
16:52We are not cruel people.
16:54But we will defend the constitution.
17:02Now a former ally of the Congress.
17:04DNK has lashed out at the Congress.
17:07Over their fight against the CAC.
17:09Against the SIR process.
17:11DNK has called this the hypocrisy of Congress.
17:14To quote them the shameless hypocrisy of the Congress.
17:18DNK is saying while we welcome the Congress party.
17:20Staging dramatic street protests in Delhi.
17:22To demand the resignation of Gyanesh Kumar.
17:24We must also ask.
17:27How can they shamelessly occupy cabinet birds in Tamil Nadu.
17:29Alongside the TVK government.
17:31A regime entirely born out of that exact same fraudulent process.
17:36So you have got essentially the DNK claiming.
17:39That in Tamil Nadu it was a result of the SIR.
17:42That led to TVK coming to power.
17:43And the Congress has in fact made the most of the situation.
17:47By joining hands with the TVK.
17:49And being in the cabinet as well.
17:51So the DNK saying that this is shameless hypocrisy.
17:55Saying that Congress agreeing that the opportunistic beneficiary.
17:59Of this deeply flawed electoral system in Tamil Nadu.
18:02Should also be dissolved.
18:04Are they officially admitting that the Tamil Nadu chief minister's chair.
18:08Rests on the back of SIR voter list manipulation.
18:11I want to bring in Pramod Madu for more details on this.
18:14Pramod we have been seeing an SIR showdown in Tamil Nadu as well.
18:18The DNK while they hold the same stand as the Congress.
18:21Are not allies anymore.
18:22They are no longer a part of the India bloc.
18:24They have been attempting to stage protests in Tamil Nadu.
18:26One of the questions that has constantly been asked is.
18:29If the TVK is an ally of the Congress.
18:31Why haven't they staged any protests in Chennai on this issue.
18:35Surely you Sakshita.
18:36The important aspect just like you mentioned.
18:37Is about the special intensive revision.
18:39And DMK claims there were voter list manipulation.
18:42In fact after the bipolar scene.
18:43Madaran Thakam and Darapuram.
18:44Also TK Zilangavan.
18:45The organization today said.
18:47That they are due to this manipulation of voters only.
18:49Voters list only.
18:50Such a kind of defeat had occurred over there.
18:52Now they are questioning DMK.
18:53After Manikam Tagore.
18:54The TNCC president raised a voice.
18:56Why DMK is not taking part in this kind of program.
18:59And this is where DMK is now calling it as a hypocrisy.
19:02Stating that if SIR is the issue.
19:04Then how come Congress is a part of TVK government.
19:06Which came to power after this particular election.
19:09That too after the immediate SIR here at Akshita.
19:12Thanks Pramoth for joining us with those details.
19:14There's been a controversy over SIR.
19:16The DMK suggested that even a state like Kolathur.
19:19Which Stalin had lost.
19:20Was a result of SIR.
19:22Of one lakh votes being deleted.
19:24In that particular constituency.
19:26So it has been an issue.
19:27That's led to a political showdown.
19:29In Tamil Nadu as well.
19:31But in the national capital.
19:32Once again bringing the focus to the protests.
19:34We've seen today.
19:35It's been a dramatic Monday.
19:36Because on one hand.
19:37The India bloc turned up the heat over SIR.
19:40Demanding Yanesh Kumar's resignation.
19:41The BJP on the other hand.
19:43Had a counter-attack.
19:44Over the sexual harassment allegations.
19:46Against Congress MP Bimola Okhajam.
19:49Accusing the party of shielding him.
20:03It is a battle of protests in the national capital.
20:06With the BJP and the Congress.
20:08Locking horns on multiple fronts.
20:10The BJP are marking their protests.
20:13They are also hitting this effigy.
20:15From the streets to the political corridors.
20:18Neither side is willing to back down.
20:23Another day.
20:24Another flashpoint in the SIR showdown.
20:27Opposition digging its heels.
20:29And demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner.
20:32Gyanesh Kumar.
20:35The India bloc took out a march from Barakhamba road.
20:38To the Supreme Court on Monday.
20:41The buses are closing in.
20:44Which have leaders of the India Alliance.
20:46A lot of people walking in front of that.
20:48In classic political messaging.
20:51Through posters.
20:52That they are carrying in their hand.
20:54They are going to just try and stay ahead.
20:56As the bus starts moving towards Barakhamba road.
21:01Earlier the Congress request for a meeting.
21:04With the Chief Justice of India.
21:05Was rejected by the Supreme Court.
21:09CJI has said he will not meet opposition leaders.
21:11That is not relevant.
21:12This is relevant.
21:13Honorable CJI.
21:15Has responded and instructed us.
21:17To file a petition.
21:19Aaj.
21:19India bloc leaders.
21:22Aur mein.
21:23Supreme Court jayenge.
21:25Ek saath.
21:26Hum ye petition file karege.
21:28pulls page on,
21:28sogenujh veSO.
21:28We received a letter.
21:30We asked him to complain it yesterday.
21:32After a check.
21:34I will remind him that I will not be able to get.
21:38We willaskina whenever the external parameters.
21:42We should understand them.
21:44We will ofsted position them,
21:44we will experience to himself.
21:46To follow themselves.
21:46The solution with move men and force them.
21:47Just keep it out.
21:50But that is not the only battle
21:52playing out in Delhi.
21:55The BJP hit the streets against Congress MP Bimol Okhijam, who was sacked from the JNU over sexual harassment cases.
22:05JNU dismissed him from service following complaints by 11 female students, while the MP has denied the allegations.
22:39The BJP is now turning. Rahul Gandhi smashed the patriarchy pitch into a political flashpoint and has accused the Congress
22:47of shielding the MP in Parliament.
23:13The Congress, on the other hand, has rejected the allegations, calling them a diversionary tactic.
23:21This is their classic diversionary tactics. Whatever action has to be taken, there has been taken. What action are you
23:29taking? Answer that. Why is it that they don't answer that?
23:33The political face-off continues with both sides refusing to budge. Meanwhile, the national capital remains under heightened security amid
23:42the protests.
23:46Preeti Chaudhary and Piyush Mishra, Bureau Report, India Today.
23:55And even as you've had the dharna in the national capital, in a major show of strength, the India bloc
24:01essentially pulled all stops, bringing in leaders from across the country, and it included the three southern chief ministers as
24:08well.
24:08Karnataka chief minister D.K. Shiv Kumar was there, Keralam chief minister V.D. Satishan, Telangana chief minister Revant Reddy,
24:14all three were there, and their presence signals a wider political push with leaders from different states rallying around a
24:22common cause.
24:23And the message is clear that the opposition is standing united. But in the last one week alone, you've got
24:28the Congress ensuring all of their chief ministers are in Delhi.
24:32What will this do? In states like Karnataka and Telangana, the opposition has constantly been suggesting that these are chief
24:38ministers who are more focused on what's happening in Delhi than on what's happening in their states.
24:43And that attack will just get amplified with all of these images that we're seeing.
24:48But let's get you an exclusive conversation with Karnataka chief minister D.K. Shiv Kumar.
24:53Sir, you are walking along with other leaders. What exactly is the demand, sir?
24:59Our demand should be a repoll, dismissal of that election commissioner, and see that postal ballot will start.
25:15You are demanding that the CEC, Mr. Gyanesh Kumar, be dismissed?
25:19Yes, of course, he has to be dismissed. Repoll has to be organized in all those states where they have
25:25won through FCR.
25:25But Mr. D.K. Shiv Kumar, the Congress part, the BJP says that you raise the issue of vote theory
25:32only when you lose elections.
25:34But in the states such as Karnataka or in Kerala, when you have won elections, you don't say that.
25:40In spite of their vote theory, our people have given us a mandate.
25:46Walking on the streets, are you happy the kind of turnout you've seen?
25:49Yes, it's a massive turnout and it's full of India Alliance. All the colleagues are there.
25:54And the march is a positive march.
25:57It shows the mind of every youth and every woman and every student of this country.
26:07And the India Alliance is united and we are standing together on an important day in the history of India.
26:14All right, sir. Good luck. Thank you for joining us.
26:18So as we go to those exclusives, once again highlighting that you had D.K. Shiv Kumar, Revant Reddy, V
26:24.D. Satish and all of the chief ministers in attendance for this particular protest.
26:29Now, what's going to happen tomorrow?
26:31Moshmi Singh is joining us live. She's been tracking the protest for the last many hours.
26:36It's been a busy few days for you, Moshmi, and for all of your colleagues who report on the Congress.
26:42Because they've come up with one protest after another every single day. What's the plan tomorrow now?
26:48Moshmi Singh?
26:54– Akshita, I was dreading that question, you know, and that's why I had a smile on my face.
27:00Because, you know, what's next is the big question that everybody wants to answer.
27:05And honestly, you know, the strategy has been to carpet bomb regularly.
27:12Like if you've seen last week, there were protests, dharnas, march and sit-ins at the central hall back to
27:20back.
27:21So Monday for the opposition has started well.
27:25They've dominated the space for six hours.
27:28They've gone to the Supreme Court.
27:31The story has taken another turn from the parliament and before that on the streets and now to the Supreme
27:39Court.
27:40So that's an interesting development.
27:42Importantly, even as we stand at Mundi House, I would like to show you some visuals that could actually personify
27:50what this has all been about.
27:53If you look at this, of course, there are lots of cars.
27:56There's a lot of sirens, blaring sirens.
28:00But that park that you see, you see a lot of youngsters, bystanders, people who've come from near and far,
28:09some students.
28:10A flock of lawyers, people who are interested in knowing what's happening.
28:16So here you can see a lot of youngsters with that backpack, those sweatshirts.
28:22You can make that out.
28:23Now those are not from any particular political parties.
28:26And that is what Rahul Gandhi would be hoping for.
28:31He's been pitching that the common man, the common people, the youngsters should join this Delhi Chalo Re march.
28:38And we've seen that at this Mundi House, for a while, the entire truck was there at Bhagwanda Smart, the
28:47road that leads to the Supreme Court, about 700 meters away.
28:51They were actually turned back from there.
28:54The last barricade, the third barricade, before that they were pushed back.
28:59And now they've wrapped up from here.
29:01But yes, the question really being that surely there would be some development, most importantly, in the court.
29:08And also with the India Bloc leaders all here in the national capital, there could be a press conference on
29:15the cards because they've not got much to speak today.
29:18So that could be dropping in any moment and we'll update our viewers on that, Akshita.
29:23Okay, a possibility then of a press conference where you could see essentially a united show by the India Bloc.
29:29All of the leaders who are part of the protest coming together on one stage, one platform.
29:34Thanks, Moshmi, for getting us that ground report.
29:36As Moshmi tells us, right now, no clarity on what really the opposition's game plan is going into tomorrow.
29:42And that's how it's been.
29:43You know, every single day there's a question, what's the plan tomorrow?
29:46And then the next day, just hours before they decide to hit the streets, is when there's details that emerge
29:51of what really the protest plan is.
29:54So while you've had this dharna going on for the last few hours on the streets of the national capital,
29:59it's now wrapping up.
30:00Let me also give you a sense of how the BJP has chosen to respond to the Congress, to the
30:05opposition, hitting the streets in this manner.
30:09You went to the Mahamahim Rastryapati Ji.
30:11You are the President.
30:19You are the President.
30:23You are the President.
32:16And that would lead to further conflicts every time there was a state visit or vice versa.
32:22Now there is political bonhomie on the other hand as far as TVK is concerned.
32:26There was also under the DMK rhetorical exchanges with Prime Minister Modi with hashtags like GoBackModi.
32:31Every time the Prime Minister would make it to Tamil Nadu.
32:34This time we didn't say any of that.
32:36In fact, Chief Minister Vijay went beyond protocol even being with the Prime Minister when he visited a temple
32:41and being there with the Prime Minister through his entire Chennai visit.
32:45So that rhetoric, it's gone now.
32:47Also, Neeti Aayog meetings.
32:49This was a bone of contention because it was also about optics and political messaging.
32:53And that's why the DMK would choose to boycott these meetings.
32:56There's been one Neeti Aayog meeting that's taken place after the TVK took over
33:00and Chief Minister Vijay attended that Neeti Aayog meeting, choosing not to boycott.
33:05The other aspect is that there have been many moments where Prime Minister Modi's events
33:10welcomes protocol for the Chief Minister to be there.
33:13The DMK would choose to skip.
33:15MK Stalin would instead send a minister there as his representative and not be there himself.
33:19Whereas Chief Minister Vijay has chosen, like I said, to go beyond protocol as well.
33:24So it's been interesting to see the market change in really how the state deals with the central government
33:30under different political parties.
33:32Now, will the strategy pay off for Chief Minister Vijay?
33:35Well, in the images that we have seen, the bond homies there, the test will be in actually
33:40ensuring that the allocation of money, the schemes, all come through.
33:57When Prime Minister Narendra Modi was in Tamil Nadu on Sunday, the spotlight was firmly on
34:03the state's newly elected Chief Minister, C. Joseph Vijay.
34:07Barely 24 hours after a lunch meeting with Rahul Gandhi, Vijay shared a metro ride with Prime
34:13Minister Modi.
34:14And the images went viral.
34:16From Modi holding Vijay's hand on stage to the two travelling together on a train and inaugurating
34:24key projects, the political warmth was hard to miss.
34:55But Vijay wasn't just playing home.
34:58Despite the warmth, the Chief Minister made his state's demands clear, presenting a list
35:03of requests to the Prime Minister.
35:06Godavari Cauvery linkage project represents important opportunity for augmenting.
35:18Let's get you the latest images coming in right now.
35:22We're interrupting our packaging to get you these images of Rahul Gandhi right now inside
35:26the Supreme Court.
35:28Rahul Gandhi there with Abhishek Manu Singh, with Malikar Junkarge inside the Supreme Court.
35:33They've been allowed in, it looks like.
35:35These leaders have made their way inside right now.
35:39Now, the petition has already been filed, so it's a question about whether they're going
35:43to be seeking a meeting with the CJI at this point.
35:47But you can see that the Supreme Court is packed right now with Congress leaders who've all gathered
35:53there.
35:53Rahul Gandhi is standing in all likelihood waiting to meet with the CJI.
35:59Even as the protest has come to an end on the streets of the national capital, Rahul Gandhi
36:03delayed a tad bit courtesy of these protests, has now entered the Supreme Court.
36:07The Delhi police hasn't stopped him.
36:10He's been allowed, along with a delegation.
36:12As you can see there, there are a handful of leaders who are with Rahul Gandhi.
36:16And we're going to stand by to see if they speak to the media to understand really what
36:21their demand is going to be.
36:23Are they seeking a meeting with the CJI?
36:25And is that something that can actually happen?
36:28For now, from the images on our screens, we've been able to confirm for you that Rahul Gandhi,
36:33Malik Arjun Karge, Abhishek Manu Singhvi are currently there in the corridors of the Supreme
36:39Court, packed to the brim, as you can see there.
36:42So the drama continuing in the national capital, now moving into the corridors of the Supreme
36:49Court, of the top court, where Rahul Gandhi has been in fact demanding the CJI's intervention
36:55in this matter.
36:56The Chief Justice of India has made it very clear that the doors of the Supreme Court are
37:00open to everyone, but that he cannot take cognizance of a matter like this, which is the messaging
37:06essentially.
37:07That you go ahead and file a petition, we will look into it as the court always does on every
37:11issue that reaches us.
37:12The plea has already been filed by Rahul Gandhi's team because of the delay that he faced in
37:17reaching the spot.
37:18Now, Rahul Gandhi and Karge are inside the Supreme Court.
37:22You can see them making their way further in with a ton of Congress leaders who seem to be
37:28also following.
37:29Munish Pandey is joining us with more details on this.
37:32Munish, what's on the agenda?
37:34You know, a petition has already been filed.
37:35And yet Rahul Gandhi, Malik Arjun Karge, a handful of Congress leaders, we understand,
37:39are inside the Supreme Court as we speak.
37:43Well, Akhita, in past we have seen that there has been a surprise element by Rahul Gandhi.
37:48Be it the protest at Lee Meridian or at other places.
37:52In last one week, we have seen that at least twice he has given the surprise element.
37:57I think today's surprise element was that after he went to Supreme Court with the Congress
38:04workers, then again sat in a bus and take a detour.
38:08But just when the bus reached Mundy House, I think he went with some of the Congress leaders,
38:15including Malik Arjun Karge, and as of now, he is in Supreme Court.
38:20Maybe inside Supreme Court, he may sign some documents or give some documents before the
38:27registrar.
38:28But as of now, Malik Arjun Karge along with Rahul Gandhi, they are inside the Supreme Court.
38:34And Akhita, everything was symbolic today.
38:37Going to Supreme Court because TGI had already suggested in his letter that he should file
38:43a petition.
38:44There was a petition filed by 11 leaders, including the India Bloc leaders, before the Supreme Court.
38:50The respondent in that particular petition was the Election Commission.
38:55But after filing the petition, Rahul Gandhi going back to Supreme Court, it is just symbolic
39:03for now.
39:03He may sign some documents, he may go to the registrar office, but more than that, he can't
39:08do much at Supreme Court.
39:10So, an attempt, Munish, by Rahul Gandhi to meet with the CGI, is that the messaging here?
39:18It won't be the case, Akhita, because if you have to meet the Chief Justice of India, you
39:23need to have a fair appointment.
39:25You can't just barge in at CGI's office.
39:28So, that can't be the case.
39:29And especially last night when CGI refused to meet Rahul Gandhi, saying that he should,
39:36you know, file a petition.
39:38And already a petition has been filed before the Supreme Court.
39:40So, it won't be an attempt.
39:42My understanding is that it won't be an attempt to meet the CGI, because there is no protocol
39:47which allows any person to meet the Chief Justice of India without a prior appointment.
39:53And in this case, there was no prior appointment taken by Rahul Gandhi and Mallika Arjun Kharke.
39:58The request earlier, which was sent by Rahul Gandhi, was already rejected by the CGI.
40:03So, I think he will go to the registrar office, may give some documents or may sign some documents,
40:09but he won't be attempting to meet the CGI.
40:12That is my understanding, is at this point of time.
40:15Okay.
40:16So, at this point, no clarity on exactly what Rahul Gandhi is doing there.
40:20Look, permission was granted for him and a delegation along with him to enter into the Supreme Court.
40:25He may have been delayed, but with that permission being granted, Rahul Gandhi is chosen to go inside.
40:31Now, the question is, what's really on the agenda?
40:32We understand that Mallika Arjun Kharke is there, Priyanka Gandhi, DK Shiv Kumar are all currently inside in the Supreme
40:39Court with Rahul Gandhi.
40:41Now, is this just mere symbolism?
40:44Because he was granted permission, he decided to go inside the Supreme Court,
40:47but the petition has already been filed on his behalf by his legal team.
40:52Tomorrow, the case comes up for hearing as well.
40:54So, as far as, you know, the meeting the CGI is concerned, that Munish has confirmed for us, it's easier
41:01said than done.
41:02It cannot just happen with Rahul Gandhi landing up in the Supreme Court.
41:06You have to seek a prior appointment.
41:07The CGI has made it very clear that, look, anyone who comes to the Supreme Court, I can go ahead
41:12and help you.
41:14The Supreme Court's doors are open for everyone, but that's pretty much it.
41:17The CGI in his personal capacity cannot do much.
41:20As we show you all the images that are coming in, you can see considerable chaos right now in the
41:26Supreme Court.
41:27Crowds that have gathered there, Congress, opposition MPs who are inside, only a chosen few have been allowed inside.
41:33But there's a huge security blanket as Rahul Gandhi is making his way through the corridors of the Supreme Court
41:39right now.
41:40Let's stand by, wait and see if Rahul Gandhi will be willing to also interact with the media
41:45and give us a sense, really, of what his plan is, his game plan is going forward in the next
41:5124 hours.
41:52Tomorrow, is the focus going to be completely on the hearing in the Supreme Court
41:56or will there be another protest planned tomorrow?
42:01Munish Pandey continues to get us the latest updates on this.
42:05As we get these images, Munish, of the chaos inside the Supreme Court
42:09as Rahul Gandhi makes his way in with the other MPs who have been allowed inside.
42:14You know, there was permission that was granted for Rahul Gandhi to go into the Supreme Court.
42:17A handful of them were allowed to go in.
42:20So is this merely symbolism now that the petition has already been filed?
42:25Well, Achita, it can be seen in two ways.
42:28One is what we saw on the first day of the protest when Rahul Gandhi went to the Akashwani building
42:36and other India bloc leaders were detained by the police.
42:39In this case today, what we are seeing is that again there are Congress leaders with Rahul Gandhi.
42:44There is Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi, Mallika Arjun Thadge, Digvijay Singh and Shashi Tharoor.
42:49These are the leaders accompanying Rahul Gandhi.
42:52Whether there are India bloc leaders like Akhilesh Yadav, Tejasvi Yadav, Mamata Vaineldi,
42:57these leaders are with Congress or not, it is yet to be seen.
43:01So again, there is an attempt to portray the image that Congress is at the forefront of fighting
43:06not only the central government but also demanding the resignation of Gyanesh Kumar
43:12and going ahead with the petition which has been already filed.
43:15So they have reached, most of the Congress leaders have reached
43:18but whether there are India bloc leaders or not, that is yet to be seen.
43:21It will have a different political implications as far as this particular Akshita development is concerned
43:27because most of the India bloc leaders, Rahul Gandhi, you know, was at Akhashwani Gavan
43:35and other India bloc leaders were detained by the police.
43:38India bloc leaders were not very happy including Akhilesh Yadav.
43:42Now what will be the political implication? It is yet to be seen.
43:45Second, Rahul Gandhi reaching Supreme Court after a petition has been filed,
43:50it doesn't make much sense. As of now, I spoke to several, you know, legal experts also.
43:56So what they are saying is that once the petition has been filed, it will be accepted by the Supreme
44:01Court
44:01and the proper hearing will take place.
44:04Petitioner reaching the Supreme Court before the matter is being heard, it doesn't make much sense
44:09but it might be symbolic, Akshita, because...
44:12It's about the optics, essentially. Thanks, Munish, for those details.
44:16We're going to stand by for any reaction.
44:19Just going to continue on this to see if the Congress Chief, Malik Arjun Karge, responds,
44:23but doesn't look like he's going to speak.
44:25The opposition MP is making their way out from the Supreme Court.
44:28Now, a dramatic day of protests, the action still not coming to an end, ladies and gentlemen.
44:34We're going to continue our rolling coverage and getting you all of the updates
44:37that are coming in right now from Delhi as Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi, Malik Arjun Karge
44:42and several others are now in the Supreme Court.
