03:54I am Dr. Fro.
03:55We are talking everything WrestleDream,
03:58and look, the show, when we did our prediction episode,
04:01we talked about 10 matches.
04:02This show is more than that.
04:04This show is 12 matches long,
04:06and that's a lot of wrestling in one day.
04:08So, we're going to get into it.
04:10We're going to talk a break deal and go through each match,
04:12starting with the matches that did not air on pay-per-view.
04:15They were like the buy-in shows.
04:17I forget what they called them this time,
04:19but whatever.
04:20It doesn't matter.
04:20We have the Divine Dominion taking on the Sisters of Sin.
04:25Now, I said in our prediction show,
04:27this is one of those times where you could go either direction,
04:30and there's very justifiable reasons to do so.
04:33This wasn't even supposed to be a thing on the show.
04:36Originally, you were supposed to have a Women's Tag Team Championship match.
04:40It ends up not happening due to injury.
04:42The Rathlander Tag Team is supposed to be getting an opportunity,
04:46which is Harley Cameron and Chris Statlander,
04:49at the World Tag Team Championships.
04:51They win a triple threat to do that,
04:53but the problem with that is Jamie Hayter is not medically cleared.
04:58So, now, not only do Rathlander not appear on the show,
05:02but instead you take Divine Dominion and Sisters of Sin
05:05and put them on the show.
05:06So, the champs get knocked out.
05:09The number one challengers don't show up,
05:10but two teams that lost that number one contender match
05:13show up on the show.
05:14The match is solid, top to bottom.
05:16We get a double powerbomb move at the end,
05:18giving the Divine Dominion the win,
05:21and I said on the prediction show,
05:23I think if you were trying to escalate a new team,
05:25you would have given it to Sisters of Sin
05:26and get them higher in the ranking
05:28for an opportunity at the Tag Team Championship later.
05:31Otherwise, if you're going to keep the Divine Dominion going strong,
05:33you want them to start winning again,
05:35I don't know where that leads,
05:36because they've already lost to the Brawling Birds twice.
05:39I don't really see a pathway for them to make it back there,
05:42and Megan Bain is somebody who needs to be
05:44in the singles Women's World Heavyweight Championship conversation,
05:47as does Lena Cross needing to be in the TBS level of conversation.
05:53So with them winning here,
05:56I think obviously it keeps their characters strong
05:57because they aren't the number one contenders.
05:59Maybe that serves the purpose I'm talking about,
06:02but we'll have to wait and see how that plays over
06:03the next couple weeks and months.
06:05I don't think they're going to do a formal split right now,
06:08which is something that would further complicate things,
06:10unless they wanted to go that route.
06:11They could have some fallout at some point
06:13and have these two face each other,
06:14but right now they're doing some incredible work.
06:16I just don't see that happening.
06:18Second match on, like, the pre-show,
06:20we get the Don Callis family of Jake Doyle,
06:21Josh Alexander, and Wardlow taking on
06:25just three guys, Alex Breeze, Poppy D, and Reese Maddox.
06:30I don't even know why they walked to the ring.
06:32You know, most of the matches on the pay-per-view
06:34are 20 minutes long, at least 10, 14,
06:38a lot of 20-some-odd-minute matches.
06:40This match went 2 minutes and 45 seconds.
06:42This was a squash match.
06:43Why you put this on a PLE
06:45when there are other talents who didn't make the show,
06:47like a Brian Cage.
06:48I'm going to keep beating that drum
06:49because I'm a huge fan of his
06:50and he's frustrated he wasn't on the show.
06:53That should have happened.
06:55You even have Roppongi Vice out there,
06:57Rocky Romero, and Trent Barretta in the corner.
07:00Why?
07:00You march five people to the ring,
07:02members of the Don Callis family.
07:04We don't see Cage.
07:05We don't see a lot of other talents.
07:06I feel like this is just a waste.
07:08And it's not like you had to fill that much.
07:10To have 245, you could have done something else,
07:11an interview segment,
07:13done more with somebody who's coming a little bit later.
07:15I don't know.
07:16From there, we get the Death Riders,
07:18Claudio Castagnoli, Daniel Garcia,
07:20Gabe Kidd, and Wheeler Yuta
07:21teaming up with the Dawgs,
07:23Dave Finley and Clark Connors.
07:24They have Marina Shafir on the outside
07:26taking on the Bang Bang Gang,
07:28which was made up of Jay White,
07:29Austin Gunn, Colton Gunn,
07:31and the conglomeration,
07:32Orange Cassidy, Kyle O'Reilly,
07:34and Roddy Strong.
07:36Here's the thing.
07:37And they had Willow Nightingale
07:38with them at ringside.
07:38So you get Nightingale in the show this way.
07:41It's a little weak
07:42since she was supposed to be
07:43in a tag team championship match.
07:46The issue I have with this is
07:48Jay White was replaced
07:50in the qualification tournament
07:52to be in the Clockwork Carnage match
07:54because they said he wasn't medically cleared,
07:55but now he's at the show anyways.
07:57It just,
07:58I would have loved to have seen
08:00Jay White have the opportunity here.
08:01I think, you know,
08:02he's done some cool things,
08:04but he is nowhere near as big
08:05or as successful a star
08:07as he was in New Japan
08:08since coming to AEW.
08:09Whether that be because of injuries
08:11or other things,
08:11I just feel like Jay White
08:12is not getting the opportunities
08:14he needs or deserves
08:15at this stage of his career.
08:17And this felt like a demotion
08:19more than anything.
08:20At the end of the match,
08:22the Deathriders win.
08:23I don't know that I'm overly surprised
08:25about that.
08:26They are, you know,
08:29it's them or Don Calis family
08:30are the organization within the company.
08:33And the fact that the two of those groups
08:34have gone at each other
08:35for so much in the last several months,
08:38even that's getting old.
08:39There's just too many groups,
08:40too many large groups in AEW.
08:42So, I don't know.
08:43We'll see where this all plays out over time.
08:44I don't really see any storylines
08:46coming out of that match
08:47that really matter.
08:48How far some people have fallen.
08:51You have Claudio was CMLL World Champion
08:53for a hot minute.
08:54He was Ring of Honor Champion.
08:56You have Orange Cassidy
08:57who's like main eventing pay-per-views
08:59against Chris Jericho
09:00in Mimosa matches
09:03and things like that.
09:04And it's almost like
09:05his character's irrelevant at this point.
09:07It would take quite a bit
09:08to build Orange Cassidy
09:09or Claudio Cassignoli back up.
09:11I feel like of all the people
09:12in this entire match,
09:13Gabe Kidd is the most likely
09:14to be a top flight candidate
09:16for a main event spot in the group.
09:18And he shouldn't be
09:19when you're looking at
09:20that whole mess of talent.
09:21That's insane.
09:23From there,
09:24a match that we were supposed
09:25to be seeing on the main card
09:27instead airs for free
09:29is match number one
09:30of the Motor City Machine Guns.
09:32Alex Shelley and Chris Saban
09:33taking on FTR.
09:34And look,
09:35the match is fantastic.
09:37Every match with these guys
09:38are going to be.
09:39I'm a little surprised
09:41that FTR is going to take the loss
09:43in the first match.
09:44Motor City Machine Guns
09:45do pick up the win
09:47and it's going to set the stage
09:49for a really exciting
09:50four more matches
09:51because I'm fairly confident
09:52this is going to go to a 2-2 tie
09:53with a tiebreaker
09:54and the Machine Guns will win.
09:55I really thought FTR
09:56would win the first one
09:57just because they are
09:58the home team
09:59and you would like to see them
10:00get some of that
10:01home field advantage
10:02in the first matchup.
10:03That's not how Tony
10:04decided to book it.
10:05That's okay.
10:05I'm cool with that.
10:06I'm a huge Motor City Machine Guns
10:07fan anyways.
10:09This was solid.
10:10This was great work.
10:10It gives them something
10:11really, really strong to do
10:13while they're waiting
10:14for their opportunity
10:15to challenge the Young Bucks.
10:17After that,
10:18we get Mercedes-Monnaie
10:19defending the AEW
10:20Women's World Championship
10:21against Tekla.
10:23And I'm going to tell you right now,
10:25I was kind of disappointed
10:26that this didn't go
10:29a little longer.
10:30You got 15 minutes
10:31and I get it.
10:32That's still a decent length match.
10:34But when you see some
10:35of the other matches
10:36on the card
10:36and keeping in mind
10:37that this is not
10:40the only female match
10:41on the card,
10:41all the women's matches
10:42are this short.
10:43And Mercedes can go.
10:45Tekla can go.
10:46So can all the ladies
10:47in the other matches.
10:48They can really go.
10:48They deserved a little more
10:50when all these men's matches
10:51are getting so much more time
10:53into the 20s.
10:54But in this match,
10:55Monet ends up
10:56retaining the championship,
10:57defeating Tekla
10:57just as we predicted.
11:00It was a solid action
11:01back and forth.
11:03Really a good 50-50 match.
11:05This was pay-per-view
11:06level quality.
11:07I really hope
11:08they get an opportunity
11:09maybe several months
11:10down the road
11:11for these two
11:11to revisit this a little bit
11:13and run it back
11:14because this had
11:16so much more promise.
11:19And I feel like
11:20even though they did
11:21good stuff in the ring,
11:21they could have done more.
11:22And I really want to see
11:23what happens
11:24if they give them
11:25more time to build
11:26to a more lasting feud.
11:27Because let's be honest,
11:29this is something
11:29they've been building
11:30since like All Out
11:31and that was only
11:32a few weeks ago.
11:33I would like to see
11:33something build over time.
11:35Months leading up
11:36to an inevitable clash
11:38between these two
11:38because they are
11:39some of the best women
11:40in wrestling today.
11:42From there,
11:43we get the match
11:44between Nick Wayne
11:45and Chris Jericho.
11:47I didn't see any reason
11:49for Jericho to win this.
11:50Nick Wayne picks up
11:51the victory.
11:53Jericho's going to have
11:53to humble himself
11:54to Nick Wayne.
11:55I'm cool with all of that.
11:57I feel like Nick Wayne
11:58is in position
11:58to get some semblance
12:00of a push.
12:01I don't know how hard
12:02you could push him
12:03when he has a certain
12:04body style,
12:05experience level,
12:07injury history,
12:08all that stuff.
12:09But it seems apparent
12:10to me that they're trying
12:11to do something
12:11of substance with him.
12:12Hopefully this helps
12:13catapult him a little bit.
12:14I said on my prediction show,
12:16I'd like to see him
12:16now extend an olive branch
12:18to Jericho
12:18and try to pair off
12:20with Jericho.
12:21I think that could be
12:21a very good thing for him.
12:23Because he's pursuing
12:24Chris Jericho,
12:25it would be different
12:25from when Jericho
12:26puts together his
12:27nine million factions.
12:28I think it's a great
12:29direction for him to go.
12:30We'll have to wait
12:30and see what their
12:30next plan is for Nick Wayne.
12:32Then we get the
12:33World Tag Team
12:34Championship match.
12:36You have the Young Bucks,
12:37Nick and Matt Jackson,
12:38defending against
12:39the Don Callis family,
12:40Kevin Knight,
12:41and Kyle Fletcher.
12:42And they did something
12:43in this match
12:43that I both love
12:45and I hate.
12:46First off,
12:46match again,
12:47as always,
12:47fantastic.
12:48But towards the end
12:49of the match,
12:51Kyle Fletcher
12:52is setting up
12:53for a move
12:54and Kevin Knight
12:55tags himself in
12:56and you can just
12:57read the look
12:58on the face
12:59of Kyle Fletcher.
13:00He is not a happy camper.
13:02So they're teasing
13:03dissension between these two.
13:04They only got paired up
13:05a short time ago.
13:06You could do a lot more
13:07with these two
13:08in the tag team division.
13:09Instead,
13:09it already feels like
13:10they're setting up
13:10the breakup,
13:11which I'm assuming means
13:12that they're leading
13:13towards a Kyle Fletcher
13:14babyface turn,
13:15which I'm okay with
13:16because I think
13:16he's the face
13:17of the future
13:17of wrestling
13:18for AEW
13:19in the long term.
13:20So you want that guy
13:22to be your uber
13:23over-the-top babyface.
13:24But I feel
13:26this is pretty premature.
13:28And Kevin Knight,
13:29for as much as he's a heel,
13:31a lot of people
13:32remember him
13:33as the babyface guy still.
13:34He's not over
13:35as an uber heel.
13:36This just made him
13:37look disrespectful
13:38and immature
13:39in my opinion.
13:39I think it could have
13:40been booked
13:40a little bit better.
13:41But again,
13:42I'm not the one
13:43paying the paychecks.
13:44This is what they
13:44wanted to do.
13:45And now the Bucks
13:45are set to keep
13:46their championship
13:47and they will be
13:48facing probably
13:49Motor City Machine Guns
13:50in the short term.
13:52Probably the new level
13:53in the long term.
13:54We'll have to wait
13:54and see.
13:55From there,
13:56Persephone defending
13:57the AEW TBS championship
13:59against Danny Luna,
14:00Hyen,
14:01and Queen Aminata.
14:02Again,
14:03I feel like
14:04a broken record.
14:06Persephone is
14:06one of,
14:07if not the best
14:09acquisition
14:09that they've had
14:10this year in AEW.
14:11She's going to be
14:12a world champion.
14:13She is as skilled
14:14as they come
14:15and I compared her
14:16in the prediction episode,
14:19I compared her trajectory
14:20to that of
14:21Stephanie Viqueira.
14:22If Stephanie Viqueira
14:23was at Forbidden Door,
14:24she put on a wrestling
14:25clinic of a match
14:26and then actually
14:27AEW was frustrated
14:28because she signed
14:28with WWE.
14:29I love that
14:30Tony Khan was smart enough
14:31to make sure he signed
14:32her ahead of time.
14:33She's locked in
14:35but the kind of quality
14:37that she puts out there,
14:38she has to be
14:39in a world championship
14:40picture at some point.
14:41I wouldn't be surprised
14:42if AEW considered
14:44something that TNA does
14:45where if you're the TNT
14:47or the TBS champion,
14:48maybe you could cash
14:49that in for a world
14:50championship opportunity.
14:51I would love that
14:52as a stipulation
14:53because it would then
14:53give us a reason
14:54to have other
14:56crowning of new
14:56champion moments
14:57and it would give people
14:59an incentive
14:59to target those championships
15:01because they want to
15:01find a way to get back
15:02to the world title.
15:03Heck, it's one of those
15:04ways you could get around
15:05Hangman Page
15:05never challenging
15:06for the world title again.
15:07Have him win a tertiary title
15:09that he could cash in
15:10for a world title shot
15:11and that kind of gets
15:11around that loophole.
15:12So I don't know,
15:13we'll have to wait
15:13and see how that plays out
15:14but Persephone comes out
15:15with the win,
15:16she's killing it,
15:17she's doing some of the
15:18best work in the company.
15:20Andrade El Idolo
15:21defending the national
15:22championship against
15:23Tommaso Ciampa
15:24and as predicted,
15:25this is a fantastic
15:28scientific match
15:29and they throw in
15:30some of the craziness
15:31and Ciampa
15:32trying to grab weapons
15:33and things
15:34and put him in the ring
15:34but in the end,
15:36Andrade who is
15:37on a collision course
15:38for a world championship
15:39match at some point
15:40very, very soon,
15:41Andrade ends up
15:42picking up the win
15:43over Ciampa,
15:43no surprises here,
15:45Andrade man,
15:46he is doing some
15:47killer work,
15:48he has been doing
15:48great work since
15:49getting to AEW,
15:49it's not getting any
15:50worse,
15:51it's only getting better,
15:52he's got so much
15:53in front of him
15:53and the only thing
15:55I don't like is
15:55I feel like he's
15:56LA Knight in WWE
15:58when it came to
15:59Roman Reigns.
15:59This is one of those
16:00things where Andrade
16:02is getting over
16:02so organically
16:03but you cannot see
16:05a scenario,
16:05at least I can't see
16:06one where he wins
16:07the AEW World Championship,
16:08certainly not this early
16:09in Will Ospreay's reign
16:10and they can't keep
16:11pushing this down the pike
16:12or kicking the can
16:14down the road,
16:15at some point
16:16they got to pull the
16:16trigger and get Andrade
16:17his championship match
16:18that he earned,
16:19so that means he's
16:20going to lose that match
16:21and it means the whole
16:22time we built up
16:22to that stipulation
16:23it was kind of worthless.
16:25We get the Trios Championship
16:28match next
16:28where the Swerve Strickland
16:30and the New Level
16:31defend against Brody King,
16:32Bandito, also known as
16:33Brodito and Adam Hangman
16:35and Adam Page.
16:36I really thought Swerve
16:38and the New Level
16:39were going to stay
16:40with those championships
16:41for a very long time.
16:42Instead, I have been
16:43proven wrong because
16:44tonight in two out of
16:45three falls,
16:46they took the first fall,
16:47lost the next two
16:48and we have new
16:50Trios Champions,
16:51Hangman, Adam Page
16:52and Brodito
16:54walking out
16:55with the gold
16:56and at the end of the match
16:56one of the interesting
16:57moments and it really
16:58may be a cue
17:00for new things
17:01to happen.
17:02When the New Day
17:04bring their championship
17:05belts into the ring
17:06and hand them over
17:07to Brody King
17:08and Bandito,
17:10Swerve Strickland
17:11looks hesitant.
17:12He doesn't want to
17:13hand his to Hangman
17:13Adam Page.
17:14Eventually he does
17:15and he goes up the ramp
17:16and he's grumbling
17:17and he keeps looking
17:17back at Page
17:18and it's almost like
17:19he's severing his ties
17:20with the new level.
17:21I don't love that
17:22not yet
17:23but if we're going
17:23to do it
17:24get it done
17:24that way we can
17:25get the new level
17:25freed up for the
17:26Young Bucks
17:27but this was amazing
17:28more good matches
17:30I'm not mad
17:31that they changed
17:32the championship
17:32I just didn't see
17:33it coming
17:33and now it's like
17:35Hangman Page
17:35is back to that
17:36purgatory of doing
17:37a whole lot of
17:37nothing again
17:38other than this
17:39Trios thing
17:39which is beneath
17:41his level
17:41as a former
17:42multiple time
17:43world champion.
17:44From there
17:45Jon Moxley
17:46defending the
17:46AEW Continental
17:47Championship
17:48against Mark Davis
17:50this is on the
17:51heels of Mark Davis
17:51scoring the pinfall
17:52on Mox in their
17:53tag team action
17:54earlier in the week
17:55the match itself
17:57pretty solid
17:57nothing to write
17:58home to mom about
17:59but it was definitely
18:00a good match
18:00but the end sees
18:02a submission
18:03because Mark Davis
18:04gets put into
18:05the Bulldog choke
18:06and he is going
18:06nowhere
18:07Jon Moxley
18:08is as important
18:09to this company
18:09as any talent
18:10ever will be
18:11he is the ace
18:12he is the go-to guy
18:13and you can't have
18:14him losing to Mark Davis
18:15right now
18:16so not surprised
18:17with the outcome
18:18this is solid work
18:19Jon Moxley
18:20still one of the
18:21best wrestlers
18:22they've got on
18:22their roster
18:23and he just
18:23accolade after
18:24accolade after
18:25accolade
18:25he just keeps
18:26upping his game
18:27what a great talent
18:28from there we get
18:29the main event
18:30the AEW World
18:31Championship
18:31clockwork
18:32carnage
18:33you have two
18:35people start
18:35every three minutes
18:36we enter another
18:37person
18:38if anybody gets
18:39pinned before all
18:40eight competitors
18:41are in the match
18:42you are eliminated
18:43once the last
18:44person comes out
18:45it is a whoever
18:46gets the most
18:47falls
18:47I predicted on
18:49our show
18:49that they would
18:50have perhaps a
18:51tie between Adam
18:52Copeland and

19:50Konosuke Takeshka
19:51gets eliminated
19:52prior to the
19:53eighth being out
19:53there that I
19:54felt like was an
19:55insult to Takeshka
19:56he deserved to be
19:57out there throughout
19:58the entire match
19:58be a part of the
19:59point system
20:00and when they took
20:01him out I was
20:01really really shocked
20:02I don't see any
20:03value in that
20:04I don't see any
20:05justification for
20:06that
20:07that's a gross
20:09misjustice against
20:10Konosuke Takeshka
20:11that guy is
20:12probably one of
20:12the greatest
20:13wrestlers in the
20:14world he deserved
20:15a better showing
20:15than this but
20:16again I'm not the
