03:14For tonight, I am Dr. Fro.

03:15I'm coming to you with reactions and analysis of AEW Dynamite.

03:21And look, AEW has been on a roll lately.

03:24I'll be honest.

03:25I'll give you the spoiler alert.

03:26I think there was a lot of really great things going on in Dynamite tonight.

03:30There's a couple things that are a little bit head-scratchy for me, but we'll get into it all.

03:34Starting the show with Kyle Fletcher, Kevin Knight, and FTR, an eight-man tag team match going against Cage and

03:41Cope, Darby Allen, and Steven Borden.

03:43I am shocked, honestly, at how far Steven Borden has already come in this early part of his wrestling career.

03:52Look, I was a diehard Sting fan from the first time I saw him.

03:55The first time I saw Sting was in the UWF when he was still a tag team partner with The

03:59Rock, the original Rock,

04:01which was the original name for what would become the Dingo Warrior and eventually the Ultimate Warrior and then Warrior.

04:09That's how long I've been a Sting fan, back with Eddie Gilbert and things like that.

04:13And to follow Sting's career, when you look at it, Sting really had a few years under his belt before

04:20he got the big break

04:21where Ric Flair decided to work with him when they did the merger, when the NWA bought out the Mid

04:29-South Wrestling, the UWF.

04:31They brought some of their talents in, and Sting was one of the biggest acquisitions in that situation.

04:37And I'll never forget, there was a NWA program that came on Saturday mornings worldwide.

04:43And on NWA worldwide, they were having a celebration of the horsemen, of Ric Flair, Keys to the City kind

04:50of stuff.

04:51And they did a segment where James J. Dillon and their horsemen were at the back watching as Sting had

04:57a match.

04:58And Tony Schiavone interviewed Sting, and he basically commented about wanting to face Ric Flair.

05:04And J.J. Dillon came to the ring and was giving him a hard time about how it was showing

05:08no class to try to spoil Ric Flair's night.

05:11And he threw a glass of champagne in his face, and Sting pulled him over the turnbuckle and hit him

05:18a few times in the corner,

05:19hit a scorpion splash on him in the corner, and started to put him into the scorpion death block when

05:24the horsemen hit the ring.

05:25And it's what led to Ric Flair facing Sting at the original Clash of Champions.

05:30I say all that to say this.

05:33Sting at that time, even though he was still very green, Ric Flair was the perfect dancing partner to make

05:39him look great in the ring.

05:40And Sting just never looked back.

05:42He continued to get better, cared about this profession, and became an elite professional wrestler at the highest levels.

05:47And he had two or three years under his belt before we got to that point, 1988.

05:53February 5th of 88, I believe, was the first Clash, or somewhere in that neighborhood.

05:57Actually, no.

05:58It was February 5th, 88, was when we had the Hogan-Andre switch or whatever.

06:03So somewhere in that time frame.

06:05I always forget the dates.

06:06But the point is this.

06:08His son, Steven, at this point, is, I believe, light years ahead of where his father was at that time.

06:15Because he looks so crisp in the ring.

06:16He looks like a natural.

06:18And so it's impressive to see him doing the things he's doing already.

06:21I do know that over the weekend there was a conversation by he and his brother, Garrett,

06:25who is another one of Sting's sons who's getting into the wrestling business, teaming up and having a match.

06:30So we'll have to wait and see how that plays out.

06:31But in this situation, to watch the Scorpion slash Coffin Drop finisher that he and Darby Allen are putting on,

06:40and how poetic it is that he's teaming with Darby Allen after Darby won the World Tag Team Championship with

06:46his father,

06:47and his father retired as one half of the World Tag Team Champions, is absolutely fantastic.

06:52The fact that this match had them in the ring with Cage and Cope,

06:56and there was a little tease at the end of the match where, you know,

07:00Christian Cage had the TNT Championship in his hand,

07:03and there was like a, you know, Darby Allen ripping the belt away from him,

07:06and there's like a little bit of a tease for are Darby and Steven Borden going to challenge Cage and

07:11Cope for the World Tag Team Championship?

07:14Is Christian Cage going to challenge Darby for the TNT Championship?

07:18There's some history in terms of the TNT title and Christian there.

07:20I don't know, but I love all of it.

07:23I think this was compelling.

07:24I think Steven Borden is, man, I don't know what they're paying him this early in his career,

07:28but that's a kid who's got an incredibly bright future, and he's so young,

07:32and he is a spitting image of his father.

07:34So very, very impressed.

07:35I'm already a huge fan, and I wish him nothing but success.

07:39From there, we get Chris Jericho and Nick Wayne.

07:44I'll be honest with you, I felt like since Jericho came back,

07:47his goal has been to get young talent over, and he's done a lot of that,

07:51especially in the feud with Tommaso Ciampa.

07:55I'm not sold on Nick Wayne.

07:56I know there's people who think he's a wonderful up-and-coming talent.

07:59I don't think, in my opinion, just an opinion,

08:03I don't see Nick Wayne as being World Championship material.

08:06Now, in a couple years, I might eat my words,

08:08because I'm sure Tony Khan's going to do everything he can

08:10to continue to cultivate him and eventually make him a major player,

08:14just like he did with people like Kevin Knight and stuff like that.

08:17But I just, I'm not feeling it.

08:19I feel like in the last two years, seeing Nick Wayne progress,

08:24I haven't seen enough that gives me any confidence

08:27that he's ever going to be a main event player.

08:30Seeing Jericho win tonight was fascinating to me,

08:33because I actually thought they would have put Nick Wayne over.

08:35But then after the win, Nick Wayne hits him with a low blow,

08:39and he grabs a chair, and he hits a couple chair shots on Jericho.

08:42Obviously, this is going to be a thing going forward.

08:44He had refused to shake Jericho's hand after the match.

08:47There's a lot there, a lot to unpack.

08:49And I think that there is a great opportunity there

08:52for Nick Wayne to get some exposure with a premium-level player

08:55in a really great feud.

08:57But the reality also is, is now we've seen the match.

08:59We know that when all things are equal, Jericho beats Nick Wayne.

09:03So I don't think that helps Nick Wayne.

09:04Even if he wins the feud later on,

09:06you already know he's beatable by somebody like Chris Jericho,

09:09who, let's be honest, a 57-year-old Chris Jericho is still a phenomenal talent.

09:14But when you're Nick Wayne's age,

09:16you probably, if you plan to be a world championship contender,

09:19probably shouldn't be losing that match.

09:21So I don't know.

09:22We'll have to wait and see how things play out over the next couple years.

09:24But right now, I'm just not seeing it.

09:27We do get the announcement that Mercedes-Money

09:29is not medically cleared for all out.

09:31And that's problematic because I feel confident

09:34that she was going to be facing Tekla in the championship match

09:37or Willow Nightingale or a three-way.

09:39But then we're told that Tekla and Willow Nightingale will meet

09:42in a number one contenders match at all out,

09:44leading to a championship opportunity against Mercedes-Money at WrestleDream.

09:50So for anybody who thought that Bayley was somehow leaving WWE early

09:54and was going to be competing as the opponent at WrestleDream versus Mercedes,

09:59obviously, that's not happening.

10:02There was the poster that Mercedes put online of the two of them

10:06with Bayley's original independent name, Daria Rose, I believe it is,

10:11or something of that name.

10:12But obviously, that's not happening now.

10:14So we'll have to wait and see again how this plays.

10:17I don't know if Monet's injury is legit or if this is a worked angle.

10:22I hope it's not legit because, I mean,

10:24she's had some injuries in the last couple years that have been pretty serious.

10:27One kept her out of the ring for close to a year.

10:30So I don't want to see that.

10:31I want to see her be able to compete.

10:32But I really would have liked to have seen her at all out.

10:35Unless this is all a swerve and they're pulling a Seth Rollins on us

10:38and she shows up at the show and lays out somebody,

10:41probably leading to the next chapter in her title reign and her next feud.

10:46From there, a number one contenders match for shot at all out at the Trios Championship.

10:51We have Brodito, Brody King, and Bandito teaming with Hangman Page,

10:55the former champions, taking on the conglomeration.

10:59Fun match.

11:00Makes a lot of sense.

11:01There was just so much action in the ring.

11:05All these guys can go.

11:06They're all incredibly talented.

11:08And on any given day, I could buy any of them winning a world championship.

11:12And I do mean that from Orange Cassidy all the way through.

11:18But this match is won by the former Trios champions.

11:22So we're going to get to see Brodito and Hangman in a one team versus one team.

11:28I say it that way because we had so many teams at all in.

11:30At all out, they'll be facing swerve in the new level for those Trios titles.

11:35Or at least that's what they're implying.

11:37From there, we get Tommaso Ciampa versus Miles Hawkins.

11:40To me, this is a throwaway match.

11:42Miles Hawkins is not a threat to Tommaso Ciampa.

11:44But I don't think that's why we did this match.

11:47I think we did this to get Ciampa out on the screen because we're going to use him later

11:50in the show for a much bigger angle.

11:52It is also a very confusing angle for me.

11:56As we see the new level in Swerve Strickland coming to the ring later on, they are attacked

12:01at the bottom of the runway by Khan, Toa Leona, and Ricochet, who end up laying waste to the

12:06Trios tag team champions.

12:08I almost said six-man tag team champions again.

12:10I have such a thing with that.

12:12Obviously, they want to be in that championship picture.

12:14So perhaps we see that match at All Out, and then we see the Brodito-Hangman match later.

12:21I don't know.

12:22I don't want to see a three-team match again.

12:24I really, really don't.

12:25One team versus one team is all I ever need to see.

12:28This is kind of getting ridiculous with how many times they try to cram so many teams into

12:31one match.

12:33From there, Jamie Hayter versus Lena Cross.

12:35The match is solid.

12:37We get to the very end where Megan Bain comes out.

12:39The Divine Dominion are out there in full force.

12:41There's a distraction by Megan Bain, leaning to Lena Cross, pulling out a hidden object,

12:47cracking Jamie Hayter over the head and getting the win.

12:50There's a beatdown, which draws out Alex Windsor, who comes to the rescue to fight off the Divine

12:57Dominion.

12:57And obviously, this feud is far from over.

12:59We haven't had a rematch yet.

13:01The Divine Dominion dominated that women's tag team championship scene for so long.

13:05And I think it only makes sense to have the rematch at All Out.

13:09I look forward to it.

13:10These ladies can all go.

13:11They're all incredibly talented.

13:12They're all worth the price of admission.

13:14This should be another hard-hitting match between them.

13:16The one at All In was fantastic.

13:18I expect even more this time.

13:20Because if you're, let's be honest, if you're a talent, you're always wanting to one-up your

13:23previous performance.

13:25I think these ladies are going to put on a clinic.

13:27Great for them.

13:28In the back, we have Okada and Chiampa have a segment.

13:32Okada calling Chiampa a bitch.

13:34Sorry for the language.

13:35I'm just quoting the show.

13:37And it's very clear that Rene Paquette is there.

13:40And there's the announcement that Chiampa wants it to be the psycho killer versus the

13:45rainmaker for that international championship.

13:48And obviously, that's what we're going to get.

13:50Now, I don't know if we're going to get that at All Out.

13:52I suspect we will.

13:53We only have a couple weeks to build this thing.

13:54We need to put as many matches on the card as we can to really sell this show, even

13:58though it's a sellout, but to really sell the pay-per-view buys and whatnot.

14:02So it should be a great show.

14:04And adding this match, look, I don't understand.

14:06I was saying there's some confusion there.

14:08I don't understand how Chiampa has been a heel for all these months.

14:11And now he's facing Okada, who's clearly a heel, turning his back on Kyle Fletcher,

14:16retaining his championship at All In, stuff like that.

14:18So I don't know why we're basically doing a heel versus heel feud right now.

14:22But I can't wait to see the match.

14:24Chiampa's hard-hitting style, and ever since he's gotten to AEW, has been a breath of fresh

14:29air.

14:30He looks great.

14:31He's doing some of his best work he's done in the last several years.

14:33And Okada seemed very lazy the first couple years in AEW, but now he's really been cranking

14:39it up and turning it on.

14:40So I look forward to the match.

14:41I think it's going to be a lot of fun.

14:42Then we get to the main event.

14:44Will Ospreay, Akira, and Andrade taking on Jon Moxley, Gabe Kidd, and Pac.

14:50Interesting setup.

14:51You've got a member of the Dogs with two members of the Death Riders taking on Ospreay's conglomeration

14:58of people.

14:59I shouldn't use that term, I guess, since the conglomeration are a different tag team.

15:03But his united empire, essentially.

15:06The match is great.

15:08Top to bottom.

15:08Fantastic at the end of the match, after some melee where Ospreay and Andrade are taken

15:15out outside the ring, inside the ring.

15:17Moxley gets the bulldog choke on Akira.

15:19He's going to tap out.

15:20There's going to be a beatdown.

15:22We have Dave Finley and Clark Connors coming out, and they're laying waste to Akira and

15:27trying to take out Andrade.

15:28And then Will Ospreay gets a chair, comes in the ring, chases everybody off.

15:32This is going to be a great match, Ospreay versus Mox at All Out.

15:38Looking across the board at the other people involved in this, are we going to do Andrade

15:42versus MJF?

15:43Would be interesting to see that at All Out.

15:46Or are we going to change up?

15:47Is Andrade going to face Pac, or is Andrade going to face Gabe Kidd for his national championship?

15:52I'm okay with those.

15:54Where did Dave Finley and Clark Connors factor into all this?

15:57There's so much that Tony Khan still has to work out and put pen to paper and make it so

16:02we understand the booking, but there is a lot to talk about here.

16:05There's a lot of great stuff going on.

16:06I hope you enjoyed the show.

16:08I would call this a solid three and a half to three and three quarter star show.

16:13Great ring work.

16:14Great matches.

16:15Intrigue around Stephen Borden.

16:17Building some of this towards All Out.

16:20Matches being announced.

16:21It's interesting pairings like the Okada and Chiamper thing.

16:25Not a lot of negatives.

16:27Maybe the Nick Wayne stuff.

16:29Some silly stuff here and there, but all in all, solid show.
