00:03Hi it's Yinka here and today I'm sharing a diet coke break with lifestyle blogger
00:07Kavita Donkersley. We're going to be talking about my favorite topic ever, travel. So you
00:12know a little bit. I do. And your blog tells us. Yeah. So where have you been? I've been to
00:19so
00:19many different places it's really difficult to narrow down exactly where I've been but
00:23it's a big chunk of Europe Australia New Zealand and a very very big chunk of Asia. At what point
00:30did you decide to start documenting your travel? I think so for me I went traveling when I was 20
00:38that was the first time that I'd ever left the country and I'm 25 now so a lot of people
00:44don't
00:44know that it's five years for me that I've been traveling and I've been documenting my life and
00:48blogging since I was 16 so for me the reason it was documented is because I've been blogging just
00:53as long as I've been traveling. What advice would you give to somebody who was planning to travel
00:59by themselves? I think the best piece of advice I could give is to be prepared to not be prepared.
01:06What do you mean? Like just be flexible be malleable just know that you know things will change along
01:12the way if you prepare every single step of the way and you want to do something different or someone
01:17you meet is doing something really cool in Vietnam but you're going to Cambodia if you've prepared
01:22every single thing you're never going to be able to experience those spontaneous moments so just
01:26be prepared that plans will change and be okay with it. What would you say is the best thing that
01:30you've gained from traveling? I think there's a lot of things I gained from traveling but I definitely
01:35think I've made some amazing friends for life and I'm still in contact with them to this day
01:40and I got to meet them and really hear their story. For those of us who are traveling on a
01:47budget do you have
01:49any tips? Best tips I can give you would probably be to stay in a lot of hostels over hotels
01:55really cheap
01:56and great time to meet people as well you're not going to meet anybody at a hotel that wants to
02:00get
02:00talked to you but in a hostel it's all about that hostel life you party you hang out it's very
02:05sociable I
02:07would say street food is a lot better in terms of price if you're on a budget but also it
02:13tastes
02:13a lot better it's more authentic it's you know a little old man down the road. Do you have any
02:17way
02:17to physically remember where you've been? Do you collect anything? So I actually every single place
02:23I went to when I was backpacking I got a patch and I sewed each patch onto my backpack which
02:29was the flag
02:30of every single place I've been to yeah so it's like a whole backpack full of all the flags of
02:34everywhere
02:35and it's great because I have the memories and obviously then people see your backpack and they
02:39ask you questions. Well Kavita I want to thank you for joining me and I'm gonna bump into you at
02:44a beach
02:44somewhere yeah let's do it let's go to Thailand together and you can try some scorpions you said
02:48it no no no
