00:04The first epistle of St. John chapter 1 verses 8 and 9
00:12If we say that we have no sin we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us.
00:19But if we confess our sins God is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us
00:26from all unrighteousness.
00:31Dearly beloved brethren, the scripture moves us in sundry places to acknowledge and confess our manifold sins and wickedness.
00:42But that we should not disassemble nor clave them before the face of almighty God our heavenly Father.
00:51But confess them with a humble, lowly, penitent and obedient heart to the end that we may obtain forgiveness of
01:02the same by his infinite goodness and mercy.
01:07And although we ought at all times humbly to acknowledge our sins before God, yet ought we chiefly so to
01:15do when we assemble and meet together to render thanks for the great benefits we have received at his hands.
01:23To set forth his most worthy praise, to hear his most holy word, and to ask those things which are
01:32requisite and necessary, as well for the body as the soul.
01:39Wherefore I pray and beseech you, as many as are here present, to accompany me with a pure heart and
01:47humble voice to the throne of the heavenly grace, saying after me.
01:55Almighty and most merciful Father, we have erred and strayed from thy ways like lost sheep.
02:04We have followed too much the devices and desires of our own hearts.
02:11We have offended against thy holy laws.
02:16We have left undone those things which we ought to have done.
02:21And we have done those things we ought not to have done.
02:25And there is no health in us.
02:29But thou, O Lord, have mercy upon us, miserable offenders.
02:35Spare thou them, O God, who confess their faults.
02:39Restore thou those who are penitent,
02:43according to thy promises declared unto mankind in Christ Jesus our Lord.
02:50And grant, O most merciful Father, for his sake, that we may hereafter live a godly, righteous, and sober life.
02:59To the glory of thy holy name.
03:03Amen.
03:06Almighty God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who desireth not the death of a sinner,
03:13but rather that he turn from his wickedness and live,
03:18and has given power and commandment to his ministers to declare and pronounce to his people,
03:24being penitent, the absolution and remission of their sins.
03:32He pardoneth and absolve it all who truly repent and unfaimly believe his holy gospel.
03:43Wherefore, let us beseech him to grant us true repentance and his holy spirit,
03:48that those things may please him which we do at this present,
03:54and that the rest of our life hereafter may be pure and holy,
03:58so that at the last we may come to his eternal joy.
04:03Through Jesus Christ our Lord.
04:08Amen.
04:12Our Father, which art in heaven, hallowed be thy name.
04:16Thy kingdom come.
04:18Thy will be done as it is in heaven.
04:22Give us this day our daily bread,
04:25and forgive us our trespasses,
04:28as we forgive them that trespass against us.
04:32And lead us not into temptation,
04:34but deliver us from evil,
04:36for thine is the kingdom,
04:38the power and the glory,
04:40for ever and ever.
04:42Amen.
04:46O Lord, open our lips,
04:49and our mouth shall show forth thy praise.
04:55O God, make speed to save us.
04:59O Lord, make haste to help us.
05:05Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Ghost,
05:09as it was in the beginning,
05:12is now and ever shall be,
05:14world without end.
05:17Amen.
05:20Praise ye the Lord.
05:22The Lord's name be praised.
05:28O come, let us sing unto the Lord,
05:31and let us heartily rejoice in the strength of our salvation.
05:36Let us come before his presence with thanksgiving,
05:40and show ourselves glad in him with psalms.
05:44For the Lord is a great God,
05:46and a great King above all gods.
05:50In his hand are all the corners of the earth,
05:53and the strength of the hills is his also.
05:57The sea is his, and he made it,
05:59and his hands prepared the dry land.
06:03O come, let us worship and hold home,
06:06and kneel before the Lord, our Maker.
06:10For he is the Lord our God,
06:13and we are the people of his pasture,
06:15and the sheep of his hand.
06:19Today, if you will hear his voice,
06:22harden not your hearts,
06:24as in the provocation,
06:25and as in the day of temptation,
06:28in the wilderness.
06:30When our fathers tempted us,
06:33proved us,
06:34and saw our works.
06:37Forty years long,
06:38I was grieved with this generation,
06:40and said,
06:41it is a people that do err in their hearts,
06:44and they have not known my ways.
06:48And to whom I swore in my wrath,
06:50that they should not enter into my rest.
06:55Glory be to the Father,
06:57and to the Son,
06:58and to the Holy Ghost,
06:59as it was in the beginning,
07:01is now,
07:02and ever shall be,
07:04world without end.
07:06Amen.
07:14Psalm 38
07:17Put me not to rebuke, O Lord,
07:20in thine anger,
07:21neither chasten me
07:22in thy heavy displeasure.
07:24For thine arrows stick fast in me,
07:27and thy hand pressest me sore.
07:31There is no health in my flesh,
07:33because of my displeasure.
07:35Neither is there any rest in my bones,
07:38by reason of my sin.
07:41For my wickednesses are gone open by head,
07:44and are like a sore burden,
07:46too heavy for me to bear.
07:49My wounds stink,
07:50and are corrupt,
07:52through my foolishness.
07:55I have brought into so great trouble and misery,
07:58that I go mourning all the day long.
08:01For my loins are filled with a sore disease,
08:04and there is no whole part in my body.
08:08I am feeble and sore-smitten.
08:11I have roared for the very disquietness of my heart.
08:16Lord, thy knowest all my desire,
08:19and my groaning is not he from me.
08:23My heart panteth,
08:24my strength hath failed me,
08:27and the sight of my eyes is gone from me.
08:32My lovers and my neighbours did stand
08:34looking upon my trouble,
08:36and my kinsmen stood far off.
08:40They also that sought after my life
08:43laid snares for me,
08:46and they that went about to do me evil
08:48talked of wickedness,
08:50and imagined deceit all the day long.
08:54As for me,
08:55I was like a deaf man,
08:57and heard not,
08:58and as one that is dumb,
09:00who doth not open his mouth.
09:03I became even as a man
09:05that heareth not,
09:07and whose mouth are no refruits.
09:11For in thee, O Lord,
09:13have I put my trust.
09:14Thou shalt answer for me,
09:17O Lord my God.
09:19I have required that they,
09:22even mine enemies,
09:24should not triumph over me,
09:26and when my foot slipped,
09:28they rejoiced greatly against me.
09:31And I truly am set in the plague,
09:35and my heaviness is ever in my sight.
09:39For I will confess my wickedness,
09:41and be sorry for my sin.
09:44But my enemies live and are mighty,
09:47and they that hate me wrongfully
09:49are many in number.
09:51They also that reward evil for good
09:55are against me,
09:56because I follow the thing that is good.
10:00For save me not,
10:02O Lord my God,
10:03be not thou far from me.
10:06Haste thee to help me,
10:08O Lord God of my salvation.
10:12Glory be to the Father,
10:14and to the Son,
10:15and to the Holy Ghost,
10:17as it was in the beginning,
10:18is now,
10:19and ever shall be,
10:21world without end.
10:23Amen.
10:27Psalm 39
10:30I said,
10:31I will take heed to my ways,
10:33as I offend not in my tongue.
10:36I will keep my mouth,
10:38as it were with a bridle,
10:39while the ungodly is in my sight.
10:43I held my tongue,
10:45and spake nothing.
10:46I kept silence,
10:47yea,
10:48even from good words.
10:50But it was pain and grief to me.
10:53My heart was hot within me,
10:56and while I was thus musing,
10:58the fire kindled,
10:59and at the last I spake with my tongue.
11:03Lord,
11:04let me know mine end,
11:05and the number of my days,
11:07that I may be certified,
11:09how long I have to live.
11:12Behold,
11:13thou hast made my days,
11:14as it were a long span,
11:16and mine age is even as nothing,
11:19in respect of thee.
11:21And verily,
11:22every man living,
11:23is altogether vanity.
11:26For a man walketh in a vain shadow,
11:28and disquieteth himself in vain.
11:30He heaps up riches,
11:32and cannot tell who shall gather them.
11:36And now, Lord,
11:37what is my hope?
11:38Truly my hope is even in thee.
11:42Deliver me from all mine offences,
11:45and make me not a rebuke unto the foolish.
11:49I became dumb,
11:51and opened not my mouth,
11:52for it was thy doing.
11:55Take thy plague away from me.
11:58I am consumed even by the means
12:00of thy heavy hand.
12:02For when thou rebukest,
12:04dost chasten man for a sin,
12:07thou makest his beauty
12:08to consume away,
12:10like as it were a moth,
12:12fretting a garment.
12:14Every man therefore is but vanity.
12:18Hear my prayer, O Lord,
12:20and with thine ears consider my calling.
12:23Hold not thy peace at my tears.
12:27For I am a stranger with thee,
12:29and a sojourner as all my fathers were.
12:33Who spare me a little,
12:34as I may recover my strength,
12:36before I go hence,
12:38and be no more seen.
12:42Glory be to the Father,
12:44and to the Son,
12:44and to the Holy Ghost,
12:46as it was in the beginning,
12:48is now, and ever shall be,
12:50world without end.
12:52Amen.
12:56Psalm 40
12:59I waited patiently for the Lord,
13:02and he inclined unto me,
13:04and heard my calling.
13:06He brought me also out of the horrible pit,
13:09out of the mire and clay,
13:12and set my feet upon the rock,
13:14and ordered my goings.
13:17And he hath put a new song in my mouth,
13:19even a thanksgiving unto our God.
13:23Many shall see it, and fear,
13:26and shall put their trust in the Lord.
13:29Blessed is the man that hath set his hope in the Lord,
13:32and turned not unto the proud,
13:35and to such as go about with lies.
13:39O Lord my God,
13:40great are the wondrous works which thou hast done,
13:43like as be also thy thoughts,
13:46which are to us would.
13:49And yet there is no man that ordereth them unto thee.
13:54If I should declare them and speak of them,
13:57they shall be more than I am able to express.
14:01Sacrifice and meet offering thou wouldst not,
14:05but mine ears thou hast opened.
14:08Burnt offerings and sacrifice for sin
14:11hast thou not required.
14:15Then said I,
14:16Lo, I come.
14:18In the volume of the book it is written of me
14:20that I should fulfill thy will,
14:23O my God.
14:24I am content to do it.
14:27Yea,
14:28thy law is within my heart.
14:31I have declared thy righteousness
14:33in the great congregation.
14:35Lo,
14:36I will not refrain my lips,
14:38O Lord,
14:38and that thou knowest.
14:40I have not hid thy righteousness within my heart.
14:44My talk hath been of thy truth
14:46and of thy salvation.
14:49I have not kept back
14:51thy loving mercy and truth
14:53from the great congregation.
14:56Withdraw not thou thy mercy from me,
14:58O Lord.
14:59Let thy loving kindness and thy truth
15:02always preserve me.
15:05For innumerable troubles
15:07are come above me.
15:08My sins have taken such hold upon me
15:11as I am not able to look up.
15:14Yea,
15:15they are more in number
15:16than the hairs of my head,
15:18and my heart hath failed me.
15:21O Lord,
15:22let it be thy pleasure
15:23to deliver me.
15:24Make haste, O Lord,
15:26to help me.
15:27Let them be ashamed
15:29and confounded
15:30together
15:31that seek after my soul
15:33to destroy it.
15:35Let them be driven backward
15:36and put to rebuke
15:38that wish me evil.
15:40Let them be desolate
15:42and rewarded with shame
15:43that say to me,
15:45Fie upon thee,
15:46Fie upon thee.
15:48Let all those who seek thee
15:50be joyful
15:51and glad in thee.
15:52And let such a love
15:54thy salvation
15:55say always,
15:56The Lord be praised.
15:59As for me,
16:00I am poor and needy,
16:02but the Lord
16:03careth for me.
16:05Thou art my helper
16:06and my redeemer.
16:07Make no long
16:09tarry,
16:09O Lord,
16:10my God.
16:13Glory be to the Father
16:14and to the Son
16:15and to the Holy Ghost,
16:17as it was in the beginning,
16:19is now,
16:19and ever shall be,
16:21world without end.
16:23Amen.
16:28The book of Ecclesiasticus,
16:31chapter 15.
16:33Praise is not comely
16:35in the mouth of a sinner.
16:37It has not been sent to him
16:39from the Lord.
16:41For praise will be spoken
16:42in wisdom.
16:44The Lord will cause it
16:45to prosper.
16:47Do not say,
16:48It is through the Lord
16:49that I fell away.
16:51For you shall not do
16:52the things that he hates.
16:54Do not say,
16:55It is he that caused me to sin.
16:58For he has no need
16:59of a sinful man.
17:01The Lord hates
17:02every abomination,
17:04and those who fear him
17:06love it not.
17:08He himself made man
17:09from the very beginning,
17:11and left him in the hand
17:13of his own counsel.
17:15If you will,
17:16you will keep the commandments.
17:18To perform faithfulness
17:20is of your own good pleasure.
17:23He has set fire
17:24and water before you.
17:26You will stretch out your hand
17:28to whichever you will.
17:30Before man is life and death.
17:32Whichever he likes,
17:33it will be given to him.
17:36For great is the wisdom
17:37of the Lord.
17:38He is mighty in power,
17:40and sees all things.
17:43His eyes are upon those
17:45who fear him.
17:46He will take knowledge
17:48of every work of man.
17:50He has not commanded
17:52any man to be ungodly.
17:54He has not given
17:55any man license to sin.
17:58This is the word of the Lord.
18:01Thanks be to God.
18:07We praise thee, O God.
18:09We acknowledge thee
18:11to be the Lord.
18:12All the earth
18:14does worship thee,
18:15the Father everlasting.
18:18To thee, all angels
18:20cry aloud,
18:21the heavens
18:22and all the powers
18:23therein.
18:25To thee,
18:26cherubim and seraphim
18:27continually do cry,
18:30Holy, Holy, Holy,
18:32Lord God of Sabael,
18:34heaven and earth
18:36are full
18:36of the majesty
18:38of thy glory.
18:40The glorious company
18:42of the apostles
18:43praise thee.
18:45The goodly fellowship
18:46of the prophets
18:47praise thee.
18:49The noble army
18:51of martyrs
18:51praise thee.
18:53The Holy Church
18:55throughout all the world
18:56does acknowledge thee.
18:58The Father of an infinite
19:00majesty,
19:02thine honourable,
19:03true and only Son.
19:05Also the Holy Ghost,
19:07the Comforter.
19:09Thou art the King of glory,
19:11O Christ.
19:12Thou art the everlasting
19:14Son of the Father.
19:17When thou tookest upon thee
19:19to deliver man,
19:20thou didst not a bell
19:22the virgin's womb.
19:24For thou hast overcome
19:26the sharpness of death,
19:27thou didst open
19:29the kingdom of heaven
19:30to all believers.
19:33Thou sittest
19:35at the right hand of God
19:36in the glory of the Father.
19:38we believe that thou shalt come
19:41to be our judge.
19:44We therefore pray thee
19:45help thy servants,
19:47whom thou hast redeemed
19:48with thy precious blood.
19:51Make them to be numbered
19:52with thy sights
19:53in glory everlasting.
19:57O Lord,
19:58save thy people
19:59and bless
20:00thine heritage.
20:02Govern them
20:03and lift them up
20:04for ever.
20:05Day by day
20:07we magnify thee
20:08and we worship thy name
20:11ever world without end.
20:14Vouchsafe, O Lord,
20:15to keep us this day
20:17without sin.
20:18Lord, have mercy upon us.
20:21Have mercy upon us.
20:24Lord, let thy mercy
20:25lighten upon us
20:26as our trust
20:28is in thee.
20:30O Lord,
20:31in thee have I trusted.
20:32Let me never
20:33be confronted.
20:36Glory be to the Father
20:38and to the Son
20:39and to the Holy Spirit
20:40as it was in the beginning
20:42is now and ever shall be
20:44world without end.
20:47Amen.
20:55The Epistle to the Hebrews
20:57Chapter 1
20:59In the past
21:00the word of God
21:01came to our fathers
21:02through the prophets
21:04in different parts
21:05and in different ways.
21:07But now,
21:08at the end of these days,
21:09it has come to us
21:11through his Son
21:11whom he has given
21:13all things
21:14for a heritage
21:16through whom he made
21:17the order of the generations
21:19who being the outshining
21:21of his glory
21:22the true image
21:23of his substance
21:25supporting all things
21:26by the word of his power
21:29having given himself
21:31as an offering
21:32to make clean
21:33us from our sins
21:36took his seat
21:37at the right hand
21:38of God in heaven
21:40becoming by so much
21:42better than the angels
21:44as the name
21:46which is his heritage
21:47is more noble
21:48than theirs.
21:51To which of the angels
21:52did God say
21:53at any time
21:54You are my son
21:56this day
21:57I have given you being
21:59or
21:59I will be his father
22:01and he will be my son
22:05and again
22:06when he is sending
22:07his only son
22:08into the world
22:08he says
22:09Let all the angels
22:11of God
22:11give him worship
22:13of the angels
22:15he said
22:15who makes his angels
22:17winds
22:18and his servants
22:20flames of fire
22:21but of the son
22:23he says
22:23your seat of power
22:25O God
22:25is forever and ever
22:26and the rod
22:28of your kingdom
22:29is a rod
22:30of righteousness
22:32You have been
22:33a lover of righteousness
22:34and a hater of evil
22:35and so God
22:37your God
22:37has put the oil
22:39of joy
22:39on your head
22:40more than on the heads
22:42of those
22:43who are with you
22:46You Lord
22:46at the first
22:47put the earth
22:49on its base
22:49and the heavens
22:50are the works
22:51of your hands
22:53They will come
22:54to their end
22:54but you are forever
22:57They will become
22:58old as a robe
22:59They will be rolled up
23:00like a cloth
23:01even like a rope
23:02and they will be changed
