00:45When I meet other women that have natural hair,
00:47it's like such a glow when we see each other.

00:50Like, we're both so happy to see each other.
00:53So I usually wear my hair just like this.
00:55I wear my twist out or I put it in the puff.

00:59Like, it's a whole thing.

01:37We're basically going to do a frohawk.
01:40Taper down your sides and your back,
01:42and then really focus on elongating the top
01:46where all that glorious mix of color is going to happen.
01:49What I'm going to do as an overall base color
01:50is like a chocolate brown.
01:52Through the top, I'm going to pull
01:53some beautiful golden blondes,
01:55some caramelly pieces, some honey pieces,
01:57so it's going to be really stunning on you.
02:00All right, so I'm going to start with our cut.

02:14First, I'm going to taper her sides.
02:15That's going to establish the foundation for her haircut.
02:25Next, I'm going to cut her top,
02:27but leave a lot of length for fun.
02:29So when cutting textured hair,
02:32I always love to do it in its natural state,
02:34so it wouldn't blow you out.
02:36I wouldn't do any of that,
02:37because if you're not wearing your hair straight,
02:39I wouldn't cut your hair straight.
02:41All right, so now we're moving on to step two.
02:44As I mentioned, we're going to do the chocolate brown,
02:46and then add a layering of highlights on top of that.

03:51So we have just rinsed out your first layer of color,
03:54so we're going to now do your highlights,
03:56which is going to give you that beautiful pop
03:57of all those gorgeous colors.
04:02I'm going to leave a lot of her natural color in there
04:04for dimension.
04:10So India, we're toning your hair right now,
04:12so the golden blonde that I spoke about,
04:16this is what will give you those shades.
04:28Now we are going to go into setting your curl,
04:32doing a two-strand twist.
04:33Now I'm going to apply a moisturizing cream and gel
04:36and twist set her hair.

04:54Her hair is 100% dry, and I'm unraveling her twist.

05:43One of my concerns was the whole edges things,
05:45which she definitely catered to that.
05:47I think I'm more confident now that the sides are trimmed down.
05:50India was great to work with.
05:52Her personality is out of this world.
05:54Like, I just want to sit with her and talk with her all day.
05:57People put women in boxes when they have short hair,
05:59but there's a lot that I can do with my frohawk.
06:01I can still get my hair braided because there's still length there.
06:04I can still do other fun styles.
06:07I can still even add extensions if I ever choose to.
