00:00Ready?
00:00Okay, wait, yeah, okay, wait, go.
00:01One, two, three.
00:02Damn it!
00:03Hey guys, it's Mi-Anne, and this is Beauty With Me,
00:06here with Patrick Ta, celebrity makeup artist
00:09who I've been following and loving for so long.
00:11We are going to be doing a look today on Mi-Anne,
00:14this look that I did on Gigi Hadid for Paris Fashion Week.
00:17Before we get started, follow me on Instagram at Mi-Anne.chan
00:20and follow Patrick on Instagram at Mi-
00:22No, that's my handle.
00:24At PatrickTa.com, don't follow her twice.
00:27At PatrickTa.com.
00:28Oh, God.
00:29Rewind it.
00:30And while you're at it, add me on Instagram at Mi-Anne.chan
00:33and follow Patrick on Instagram at PatrickTa.
00:37So excited that I'm going to show you guys my foundation routine.
00:40This is Tom Ford's shade in Illuminate in 0.5.
00:44For this look, I really want it to look soft.
00:46I always like to blend it out before I apply foundation.
00:50So again, there's no harsh lines.
00:51We want everything to be seamless, as natural as possible.
00:54I'm using La Mer's Soft Fluid Foundation.
00:56I love that golden undertone look.
00:59So Patrick, tell me about how you got into this biz.
01:04So I started doing makeup around eight years ago.
01:07I started in Arizona at a Mac counter and then I graduated to Los Angeles.
01:13I've always wanted to live in LA, but I never knew what for.
01:17So moving to LA six years ago, I had no clients.
01:21I didn't really know anyone, but Instagram was around.
01:23Instagram has completely changed my life.
01:26I honestly, I owe a lot of my success to Gigi, but also so Shay.
01:31Shay was one of my first celebrity clients in LA.
01:33I always apply foundation on with the brush first, just so everything, like all the product
01:40isn't wasted.
01:41And then I take in the Beauty Blender and I learned this trick from Makeup by Ariel.
01:44Even if you feel like it's hard, you really want to push the product into the skin.
01:48The next step, I am applying a little bit of a concealer.
01:52So I like using a concealer that is like one to two shades lighter than your foundation color.
01:57This is going to bring back dimension into your face.
01:59But I like to go in an upside down triangle, a little bit around the mouth and the nose,
02:05just so you get that cinch nose that we all want.
02:09Let's talk about Gigi and your relationship with her.
02:12You've been doing her makeup for years.
02:13I've been doing her makeup for about five years now and she is also another sister to me.
02:18Does she let you do whatever you want?
02:19Pretty much, I feel like whenever, it just depends on how big the carpet is.
02:24Sometimes I do her makeup super last minute, so we don't have too much time to think about it.
02:28But she loves just like super glowy skin, a morphe blender that has like a pointy side.
02:34Just to give it a little extra cinched in nose.
02:38She keeps raising her eyebrows.
02:39I don't know what she's doing with the camera.
02:41I'm engaging with them.
02:43She's engaging.
02:44I think that you guys are feeling me, but you're clearly not.
02:48Okay.
02:49This is Jouer's bronzer in the color medium to light.
02:53So I like to use two colors together.
02:55This is like adding on top of the contour, so I'm going to take this.
02:59I guess damping the product onto the skin.
03:01I don't want to move the foundation that we just spent so hard to blend in and push in.
03:07I'm still going to do a little bit of baking underneath.
03:11I'm trying to avoid doing the eyebrow thing.
03:13Okay.
03:13Now that you told me about the eyebrow thing, I can't like unlearn it.
03:17Oh my god.
03:19You're funny.
03:19Time for blush.
03:21So I'm going to just finish baking whatever you want to highlight or bring out color.
03:26If you aren't being photographed, I'd probably say, you probably don't need to do this.
03:30This is like reverse contouring.
03:31You're just baking underneath so then you can get that nice snatch look.
03:37So we're going to leave this on for maybe 10 minutes.
03:40Because I did the foundation first, I'm going to take a little bit of powder.
03:45Basically just set underneath so I can have a nice eyeshadow shape.
03:50This is Benefit's bronzer in Hoola.
03:53I love using bronzers as eyeshadows.
03:57What made you like get into using so much color?
04:00Because I feel like on your Instagram you're always like trying new eyeshadow colors and new shapes.
04:04Yeah, I mean honestly, I think the first look that I ever tried that was color was your look.
04:10Was your look with Shea Mitchell, blue under liner, I think it was MAC cyan, and then red lip.
04:17Remember that?
04:17Yeah.
04:18I follow you very closely.
04:20She follows me closely.
04:21Just kidding.
04:25So now that the eyes are done, I'm actually going to wipe off this baking.
04:31I am using Desi X Katie's Francation palette.
04:35I'm going to be using shade Jeans.
04:42There, we can all breathe.
04:44The eyeliner is done.
04:45I'm using this Morphe palette, this yellow color.
04:50So whenever I do color, I always do color with a purpose.
04:54They're always like wearing a little bit of like that color somewhere on their outfit.
04:58You do that a lot.
04:59You do a lot of like monochromatic, like matching the makeup.
05:02I love, love, love, love monochromatic makeup.
05:04I think there's a quote from you.
05:05Someone at Refinery interviewed you like years ago about monochromatic makeup,
05:08and you said something about like you love it because it makes everything look so polished.
05:12Did I say that?
05:14That was me quoting you.
05:15I love monochromatic makeup because it just makes everything look so polished.
05:19It pulls together your outfit and your makeup.
05:22And then, so before I finish the eyes, I want to go in and apply my highlighter.
05:28So this is a product that I am beyond excited about to show you.
05:31I have been working on this for over two years and have three shades.
05:35To make application that much easier, my major glow setting fan.
05:40I'm actually going to use it on Mian.
05:42What color are you doing on Mian?
05:43I'm going to use Look at Her because she obviously wants people to look at her.
05:46She has blue hair on.
05:47You're going to apply this just right onto the peak of the forehead.
05:49And then for the cheekbone, you always want to go from the bottom of your lash line.
05:55Apply the product here as well.
05:57So this is going to, again, everything's going to fall onto your skin like in all the right areas.
06:02There's no harsh lines and it looks major.
06:07Major glow.
06:08Say it again.
06:10Major glow by Patrick Ta.
06:12You would include a fan in your line.
06:14That's so extra and amazing.
06:17That's so funny because this fan is called She's Extra.
06:18So you want to set your makeup.
06:22You use this because this is a tool that we didn't know that we needed.
06:27Yeah.
06:27It's so true though.
06:29The makeup tool you didn't know you needed.
06:31The headline writes itself.
06:33I want to do the body glow.
06:35So again, I named them after phrases that come from a place of excitement.
06:39Introducing a dream and introducing a moment.
06:42So a moment has bronze, gold, and pink pearl in it.
06:47That was really good.
06:48Does this feel good?
06:49And look, do you see how it just like, you're just glowing.
06:52So this is Marc Jacobs' Velvet Noir.
06:55I'm going to use a little bit of setting free before I finish the rest of the face.
07:00And then this is where She's Extra gets to shine one more time.
07:05For brows now, I'm going to be using Taupe from Tom Ford.
07:13Before I apply my lip gloss, I'm actually going to lightly line Mian's lips with a little bit of Whirl
07:18from MAC.
07:20This is going to give the lips just a nice little shape.
07:24I have three lip shines that I'm coming out with.
07:26I'm going to use Ishi Younger Than Me.
07:28You can see how like...
07:29Oh, it's so shimmery.
07:30The pearl part it goes in.
07:32Oh, it's nice.
07:34It doesn't feel sticky and it's also moisturizing, right?
07:37Mm-hmm.
07:38So why create this brand?
07:40When developing my first beauty line, it was my goal to create products to empower women
07:45to feel confident in their own skin.
07:48That's why everything that I'm creating with it is very like, see-through.
07:51Okay, so if she doesn't like it, it's fine.
07:55I'll just go...
07:56Cry.
07:56Be sad and cry, but...
07:58Okay.
07:59I love this look on Jujizo.
08:00I hope I like it on me.
08:01I like it.
08:02I like this yellow.
08:04I think you were afraid that it wouldn't look good with my hair, but I like blue and yellow
08:07all together.
08:07The lip gloss looks really good.
08:09I love the makeup.
08:10I'm excited to take a million selfies.
08:12Thank you so much.
08:13You're welcome.
08:14I'm excited to try more of Major Glow as well.
08:17Major Glow.
08:18Damn it!
08:20Are you serious?
08:21Okay, okay, okay.
08:22Okay, okay, okay.
08:23Say Major Glow again.
08:25I hope you guys love Major Glow.
