00:00I wanted to go bright and do a vibrant color and I thought why not just really just make
00:05it bright and big and really just head to toe, top to bottom, go all in.
00:10Hi, I'm Nicole and today I'm getting plum hair.
00:14I want plum hair because it is something that I have always wanted to have the courage to
00:19do for myself.
00:19Dye my hair a fine bright color from top to bottom and in quarantine I thought it would
00:25be a really great opportunity to get to do that.
00:27My current hair makes me feel fine.
00:30For a long time I let my hair grow and just it kind of got to the point where it
00:34was like
00:35below my butt and once I donated over 16 inches of hair I felt like I fully released that control
00:41and once I let go of something like that where I let somebody else take a little bit of that
00:46control I had more freedom and more fun and that allowed me to open up to the opportunity
00:50to do something like this.
00:52Hey guys, I'm Marilyn.
00:53I am a stylist and colorist at Beaumain Salon here in Beverly Hills.
00:58Hi, Nicole.
00:58Nice to meet you.
00:59So what are we doing today?
01:00I want to dye my hair plum.
01:02Ooh, plum.
01:04All right.
01:04Let's get started.
01:05So I think plum hair is trending because we are going into fall.
01:09It could be big and drastic or it can be a light subtle change when it comes to plum colors.
01:16I am most anxious about waking up tomorrow and not remembering I did this and my hair
01:21is going to be purple.
01:23So first I mix two different formulas, one being different for her root and one being
01:30different for her ends.
01:32And then I start applying the color from mids to ends, staying an inch away from her root
01:42so she doesn't get a hot root.
01:45And a hot root is a root that is lighter than the normal achieved.
01:53After applying the color through her ends throughout her whole head, I apply to her roots.
01:58I apply color block around her hairline so her hairline and her skin don't turn red.
02:11And then I let her process for 45 minutes under a shampoo cap, 20 minutes under the heat, and
02:20then 25 minutes cooling down.
02:23And then I take her back to the shampoo bowl.
02:25Give her a thorough shampoo, shampoo her twice if needed.
02:36And then I apply the conditioner scalp through ends because she just went through a major color
02:41process.
02:42And I leave the conditioner in.
02:45I get a little bit of color remover to get the color off her skin around her hairline.
02:51And then once I'm done with that, I rinse out the conditioner and bring her back to the
02:56chair for the final look.
03:00The final step is applying a heat and thermal protectant and oil so her hair is nice and
03:07soft after the blowout and style.
03:10And I blow her out with some nice bouncy waves and finish her off with a curling iron.
03:22Perfect.
03:23Are we ready?
03:23Oh, God.
03:26You can open your eyes.
03:30No way.
03:32There you are, my dear.
03:34Your eyes pop.
03:35Wow.
03:36Look how vivid your eye color looks.
03:39Oh, this is not what I was expecting.
03:42Seeing the reveal in the mirror was super, super, super dope.
03:46It was not what I was entirely expecting, which made everything really fun.
03:50Overall, I feel really excited to have something new and different to try.
03:55And I think that this came out really great.
03:59What I recommend for people that want to keep their hair that color is coming in every
04:05six to 12 weeks for a new gloss or just to refresh your roots using a color safe shampoo
04:11and conditioner and also possibly getting a shower head filter.
04:16My hair feels really light and fluffy and smooth and airy and just beyond healthy.
04:22I am most excited about seeing my hair in the sun and seeing how the light is going to
04:29catch it in a different color and being able to have fun with that and be more playful with
04:34that.
04:34This is going to help boost my confidence and give me a new, like, pep in my step and
04:39really help me just see myself in a different light completely.
04:42It is a really great, new, exciting thing that I get to have and play with.
