00:09color of your hair without the commitment using hair paint wax.
00:14This is actually day three hair, so it's not the best, but it took a lot of work to get
00:20my hair from its really damaged state to a super healthy state.
00:24And there is no way that I'm going to risk that by trying to do an at home dye job.
00:30Hair paint wax has become wildly popular in the curly hair community.
00:33It allows us to change the color of our hair without the damage.
00:37If you're the kind of person where you feel like it's just hair, it's just going to grow
00:41back if you want to shave your head or if you want to do a drastic change, then go for
00:45it.
00:45But for me, it's more than just hair.
00:47My hair is a part of my identity.
00:49It's helped me grow to love myself and be part of who I am.
00:53So that's why today I'm going to go ahead and use the hair paint wax to change up my
00:58look.
00:58So the first thing I'm going to do is I'm going to change out of this shirt and into
01:01an old t-shirt.
01:02So that way, if I get any hair paint wax on it, I won't have to worry about it.
01:06All right.
01:06So this is the first time I'm ever using hair paint wax, but I've read the instructions
01:09and I've done some research and it says that you should apply this to damp hair.
01:13So you can either use a spray bottle like this one, or you can use a continuous spray bottle,
01:18whatever you have at home, or you can go ahead and dunk your head in the shower and get
01:22it wet.
01:23And then I suggest using a cotton t-shirt rather than using a microfiber towel, just because
01:29the cotton is going to be a lot more gentler on your hair over the microfiber.
01:33So I'm going to go ahead and get my hair damp and I'll be right back.
01:36Judging by the texture of the product, I'm assuming that this is not going to give my curls any
01:44sort of structure or moisture that it actually needs.
01:48I'm going to go ahead and apply my products.

02:08that I was going to embrace my naturally curly hair and go on this journey.

02:16It's helped me accept myself, love myself, look in the mirror and truly like who I see.

02:25What I'm going to do for easier application is I'm going to section my hair in four parts.
02:30So I am going to do this gently because I've already applied product to my hair.
02:35So I don't want to disturb my curl pattern too much.
02:44I think I'm finding that the easiest technique is to rake the product through my hair.

02:56Using hair paint wax is a really fun way to change up your look without the commitment.
03:00Back in the early 2000s, I was an emo kid.
03:04I dyed my hair every single color under the sun.
03:08So this is just like giving me real nostalgia and I'm glad that I was able to do this.
03:16So what I'm going to do is I'm going to diffuse my hair.
03:20For added volume during this process, you can take these double prong clips and you can
03:25put them at your roots.
03:29Sometimes the crown of our hair can tend to be a little bit flat.
03:35This just makes the process a little bit easier.
03:40I'm blow drying on warm low.
03:43You're going to want to get really close to your scalp, but not actually put the diffuser
03:49on your head.
03:49So you want to start there and sort of move your way around your head.
03:57I'm going to go ahead and diffuse the rest of my hair off camera.
03:59So that way this process can go a little bit quicker.
04:01So now that my hair is completely dry, I usually go in and do something called SOTC, which means
04:09scrunch out the crunch.
04:10Scrunching out that gel cast in your hair will help your hair be less stiff and have a lot
04:16more volume.
04:21So I initially thought that this color was going to be like a baby pink color, but it sort of
04:28turned out to be like this rose gold, purplish color.
04:33It's hard to explain.
04:34It's not what I expected, but it's definitely still really pretty and I like it.

04:41So here is the final product and I'm so happy.
04:44Oh, my hair got caught in my nose gloss.
04:46That's how happy I am.
04:54My hair is still movable, it's not crunchy, and also it didn't stain my hands.
05:01I was really worried there for a second.
05:04I always used to think that long and straight hair was beautiful, but now I value the health
05:11over my hair, over the length of my hair, and this is just a testament that I can still have
05:18fun with my hair, but also maintain the health and the look without the damage.
