00:03Hey everyone, it's Taylor with Refinery29. As party season approaches, we could all use a new
00:07makeup look in our bag of tricks. So today, I'm going to show you a new take on a smoky
00:11eye that
00:12works equally as well with a dark lip as it does with a light. So if you wear foundation,
00:15you're going to want to start with that. Then going into the cheekbones, we're going to add
00:19a little bit of highlight to the very top of the cheekbone, kind of close to the under eye area,
00:23just to give us that little extra party oomph. I'm going to use the CK1 Skin Illuminator in
00:28Cool, which is a really liquidy, highlighting cream. I'm just going to put it really close
00:39on the high planes of the cheek. Now if you have drier skin, you can apply this almost in the
00:43areas
00:44you would do a bronzer, down the bridge of the nose and on the chin as well. But since I'm
00:48oily,
00:49we're not going to do that. Now let's move on to the eyes. So I'm going to start with the
00:55ELF
00:55Jumbo Eyeshadow Stick in Rock Out, which is a really metallic, gray, gunmetal color. This
01:02thing is pretty cool because you can apply it with your fingers after you've gotten it
01:05on. So going in with the Jumbo Stick, we're going to apply the eyeshadow just to the crease
01:10and underneath the eye, leaving the lid completely bare. You're going to be able to find where
01:14to place it on your lid by looking into the mirror and tilting your head back. You can go
01:19in and smooth this out since it's cream with your finger to kind of make it look more blended.
01:27If you feel more comfortable, you can go in with a fluffy brush just to blend the color out up
01:33towards
01:33the brow bone. Then I'm going to go in with a slightly darker shade of pencil. We're using the
01:39Smashbox Waterproof Shadow Liner in Charcoal just on the outer corners to add a little bit more
01:44definition. Same sort of technique with this too. Just tilt your head back and apply the shadow on
01:52the outer corner of your eye right up to the crease. Using the same brush, we're just going to soften
02:05the
02:05line so it doesn't look like it was just plopped there. Now it's time for liner. For the eyeliner,
02:15you want to use a very, very dark black eyeliner. So I'm going to be using the Revlon Luxurious
02:20Color Eyeliner in Black Velvet, which is a really creamy, coal-like pencil that we're going to put up
02:26into the lash line as well as create a nice soft line.
02:50You want to top the whole look off with a super volumizing mascara. So I'm going to be using the
02:54Maybelline Colossal Volume Express. Don't forget the bottom lashes.
03:15There you have it for the eyes. So now let's see what it looks like with the two different lip
03:19colors.
03:20So the first lip we're going to do with this eye look is a really pearly pink color. So I'm
03:25going to
03:25be doing this Chanel Rouge Cocoa Lip Shine in Boy.
03:37You want to make sure, since this is for a party, that the lip color that you choose is a
03:41little bit
03:41more impactful than just a gloss. That's why this lipstick works really well.
03:46So this first look is a really good look for anyone who wants to keep the emphasis on the eyes
03:51and keep
03:51the rest of the face looking more natural. But you can up the ante with an even deeper lip color.
03:57I'm going to be using the Becca Ultimate Color Lip Gloss in Berry Twist.
04:23So there you have it. A super easy to do eye that can take you from a very natural look
04:28to a very
04:29dramatic party look.
