We wonder if Heidi was also perspiring at an outdoor brunch when she decided to crown her head with plaits, because her signature coiff is pretty much the most genius stay-cool summer style. Although milkmaid braids may appear tricky, we made the process super-easy and effortless in this step-by-step video tutorial with our best gal Bethany Brill. The best part? The braided look will prevail from your first good-morning mimosa through to last call at the bar, keeping you composed (well, maybe) and comfortable all day long.

00:04I don't know what you had this way. Hi, I'm Lauren with Refinery29 and I'm Bethany Brill.
00:09Sometimes when it gets really humid in the summer you want your hair completely
00:13off your face. Today we're going to show you how to do a reverse Heidi braid. We're
00:17going to start with the center part. Continue the center part all the way down
00:21the back of the head to the nape of the neck. Clip off one section to keep it out
00:26of the way. Now we're going to start French braiding at the front of the hair.
00:30Don't worry about this being too tight or perfect. Finish braiding the tail all the
00:37way to the end and secure with an elastic. Repeat on the other side. Take one braid
00:43at a time wrapping it around your head above the French braid and tuck the end
00:50into the front of your hair securing it with a pin. Repeat on the other side.
00:56To finish the style just loosen up all the way around, especially the crowd.
01:02Whether you're walking around the city or lounging at the beach this is a great way
01:06to style your hair and it will last all day.
01:08If you don't lose your frown, or your name and even your face, or look up a dream and see
01:13me soon as we're whistling me on.
