00:00We are in a really cool year.
00:03I'm not sure which would be the most stunning.
00:05Like if I put this up on the screen, which is the most stunning in your opinion?
00:12Indiana was 150 to one when we started the college football year last year.
00:18And Indiana went and became the national champs in college football.
00:24Seattle, led by Sam Darnold, was 60 to one at one point.
00:30To win the Super Bowl when they went and beat the Patriots last February in San Francisco to win it
00:37all.
00:38The Brewers last night come in at 30 to one preseason odds to win the World Series.
00:45And given the dominance of the Dodgers back to back champs and Milwaukee being the smallest metropolitan market to ever
00:52win a World Series, that has to be considered.
00:55The Wolverines had been good, but it had been about 20 years since Michigan won anything in the New York
01:01Knicks at 22 to one.
01:03I mean, the Knicks improbable, impossible, amazing season for the New York Knicks.
01:11But we are in, right now, a really wild situation.
01:18I mean, long shots on long shots on long shots.
01:22We are far away from the days of the Dodgers and the Yankees and just domination by the big markets.
01:30I mean, Indiana being your defending champ is crazy enough.
01:34The New York Knicks, you could say, Matt, that's New York.
01:38Yeah, but the Knicks have been a laughingstock under James Dolan.
01:42I mean, even in the wake of the championship, they keep on screwing up.
01:46Like, I mean, think about it.
01:49The Knicks gave empty boxes to their coaches.
01:52They sent a phishing email to their employees claiming they were going to get a ring if they clicked on
01:58which one they wanted.
01:59And then they had to go up here in a cybersecurity class because they clicked on it.
02:04Like, the Knicks, they are still a clown show.
02:07Like, regardless, they are still the Knicks.
02:09They won a championship, but you're going to spite James Dolan, not because.
02:14And so you have these improbable runs to championships.
02:18Team USA won gold in hockey, beating Canada.
02:23Like, we didn't see that coming.
02:25We've seen, I mean, the Hurricanes, what's crazy about this is that the Carolina Hurricanes, the Hartford Whalers, I will
02:32always hate that franchise.
02:33I will always hate the Carolina Panthers, sorry, the Carolina Hurricanes, because they are the Hartford Whalers to me.
02:38You can go to red and black.
02:39They are still green and white to me, okay?
02:42I don't move it.
02:43It doesn't matter.
02:44It's the same franchise.
02:45They had the shortest odds.
02:48And that's still kind of a crazy thing because, well, it's Carolina.
02:53It's not a hockey hotbed, really.
02:55It's not this, you know, surefire dominant franchise.
02:59It's the Hartford Whalers, for goodness sakes.
03:02And they were eight and a half to one to win it all.
03:05They were one of the odds on favorites to win the cup, and then they went and won the cup.
03:09But other than that, our recent run of champions is something to behold.
03:15It's pretty darn cool.
03:18I mean, Milwaukee, I mean, in terms of history in just baseball, longest odds for champions.
03:26The 23 Rangers were 50 to 1, the 2015 Royals were 33 to 1, and the 26 Brewers 30 to
03:341 as longer shots to come and win.
03:36The most profitable World Series champions based on a $100 bet, the 05 White Sox, the 18 Red Sox, and
03:44the 15 Royals, and then the Brewers this past year coming in.
03:47And I, one of those people that had a ticket, I bought it at Hard Rock in Florida.
03:51So I'm part of the people that were able to be profitable thanks to the Milwaukee Brewers winning last night.
04:00But I think what's wild from a baseball perspective is that this franchise, which became a franchise in 1970, made
04:10the World Series in 82, lost it, wins their first championship.
04:13I mean, the folks in Milwaukee are a very cool bunch.
04:20And I think what's neat for me, because I know a lot of them, Nebraskans, Iowans, Wisconsin people, where they're
04:30just salt of the earth people, that they love sports.
04:34They love their teams.
04:36And so often, they don't win.
04:39Like, one of the cool things about being, you know, in my industry, being in radio for as long as
04:44I have been, I was able to bounce around and experience a lot of cool things.
04:49I loved my time in the South.
04:50I loved my time in the Midwest.
04:54These people drink alcohol, beer, light beer, namely like Bush Light and Miller Light.
05:00They drink it like it's water and they go down to these places.
05:06They go on bowl trips when Wisconsin goes on a bowl trip or Iowa goes on a bowl trip.
05:11They go to these places and they drink the town dry.
05:16And I'm guessing last night in Tampa, they ran out of Miller Light in that city because the entire market.
05:25I mean, did you see the shots?
05:27I should have put it up.
05:28I'm sorry, but the shots of the Bucs game from two nights ago, nobody was there.
05:34Nobody was there.
05:35They were all at home or they were at the ballpark watching the game on a screen.
