This is the Met Office UK Weather forecast for the week ahead 02/11/2026. High pressure dominates the weather this week, with lighter winds closer to the high in the north meaning some overnight fog, breezy further south making it feel chillier. Showers will come in from the east but there won’t be much rain around. Bringing you this week’s weather forecast is Alex Burkill.

00:00It's fair to say the weather this week is looking pretty settled.
00:03Not totally dry, there will be some showers around and also a bit of a breeze, but on the whole
00:08quite calm.
00:09That's because the jet stream is meandering north of the UK and we have this big blocking high over us
00:15and that's going to dominate our weather through the week.
00:18It is going to become less intense, so the pressure dropping a little bit as we go through the week,
00:23but nonetheless the weather, like I say, staying pretty calm.
00:27The devil is in the detail, however, particularly when it comes to chasing the cloud
00:31because that will make all the difference when it comes to the temperatures.
00:35We start Tuesday then, a bit of a frosty start across some northern parts, some mist and fog here as
00:40well.
00:40Elsewhere, a bit milder because there's a brisk breeze towards the south,
00:44so that breeze will actually make it feel quite chilly at times, especially in those east and southeastern parts.
00:49And here there will be quite a few showers pushing their way in through the day.
00:52Other eastern areas likely to see some showers coming in from the east, perhaps fewer showers towards the west
00:58and a greater chance of staying dry with some bright sunny spells.
01:02Now, temperatures are going to be around average for the time of year,
01:04but feeling a fair bit chillier than we've become used to really so far this autumn,
01:09especially in that breeze towards the southeast.
01:11And if you're stuck under the cloud, it's going to feel quite chilly.
01:14Where you get any sunshine, the lighter winds towards the north, well, not feeling too bad at all.
01:18High pressure continues to dominate through Tuesday and into Wednesday.
01:23Where we're closer towards the centre of the high, we have the lighter winds.
01:26So again, across parts of Scotland, Northern Ireland, perhaps northern England,
01:29greater chance of a bit of frost and also some mist and fog developing.
01:33Further south, a brisk breeze stopping much fog developing here.
01:38There will still be some showers coming in from the east.
01:41Fewer showers across parts of the southeast on Wednesday compared to Tuesday.
01:44A few perhaps, but not as many as I'm expecting on Tuesday.
01:47The showers perhaps most likely over some parts of northern England, perhaps northern Ireland too.
01:52And a few could push in along the English Channel and affect parts of the southwest of England too.
01:57Temperatures still, well, most places just about getting into double digits.
02:02Still that breeze towards the south and the east,
02:04and so that will make it feel a bit fresher than these temperatures may suggest.
02:08That high pressure then is, like I say, dropping a little bit through the week.
02:12And we have cloud trapped underneath it.
02:16So as we go later on this week, I'm expecting the winds to ease a little bit in the south
02:21and there to be more cloud around as well.
02:24So there could be some radiation fog developing, yes.
02:27So where the skies are clear, some fog forming, but also some low cloud fog,
02:31some murkiness over some parts of Scotland and Northern Ireland and northern England in particular through Thursday morning.
02:36And then we do have some showery rain again coming in from the east,
02:39similarly across parts of Scotland, maybe Northern Ireland and northern England too.
02:43Drier towards the south, and whilst it perhaps will be a bit cloudier than earlier on in the week,
02:48the winds will be easing a little bit as well.
02:50So, well, that's the reversal in fortunes of some sort compared to what we start the week with.
02:56Still high pressure dominating through Thursday and as we go towards the very end of the week,
03:01you can sort of see the isobars are a bit further apart than they are at the start of the
03:05week,
03:05which is why there will be less of a breeze, still a bit of a breeze coming in from the
03:09east,
03:09and it will still be this breeze that's bringing those showery bursts of rain in.
03:14So it's eastern areas where we're most likely to see them,
03:16perhaps some feeding further westwards across some parts of northern England towards Northern Ireland.
03:21But some signs that we could see some drier, sunnier weather across southern and southeastern parts,
03:26but it's always worth bearing in mind there's the potential for some showers to feed in along the English Channel
03:31and still affect parts of the southwest.
03:33Temperatures may be dropping a little bit,
03:35so more likely to see temperatures struggling to get into double digits across some parts,
03:40particularly where that cloud lingers.
03:42Even if the winds are light, the sun's not got much strength behind it,
03:46so where that cloud sticks around, it is going to feel pretty chilly indeed.
03:51Now, if we look at the rainfall totals, and it's a somewhat worrying picture,
03:55there will be some rain, most of us will see a bit with the showers coming through,
03:59and like I say, there are some bursts of rain coming towards parts of the west country at times as
04:04well.
04:04But these rainfall totals, when you add them up for the whole week,
04:08they're not particularly high anywhere,
04:10and many places are still in desperate need of a fair amount of rain,
04:14and that just doesn't look like it's going to come any time soon.
04:18Even as we go into this coming weekend,
04:20high pressure still looks likely to be in charge, at least to start off with.
04:24So more largely fine dry weather, with some bright sunny spells at times.
04:28It could be quite cloudy at times as well.
04:31And then later on, Sunday into Monday,
04:34signs that we may see some unsettled weather starting to come in from the southwest,
04:38but it's a wee way away,
04:40and so the fine dry weather looks likely to continue for quite a while yet.
04:44Good news if you have any fireworks plants, which should be dry for many,
04:48but just watch out for that mist and fog.
04:50Bye-bye.
