00:00I got a beef here with my friend, Kevin.
00:02So last week he goes, you know, without taking a shot,
00:06it's a subtle, you know, slap a little bit.
00:09He said the ACC sucks.
00:11And I'm like, I agree with him, which made me think,
00:15is he saying Miami hasn't played anybody?
00:17Well, I say to you, Kevin, who has Notre Dame played?
00:21I mean, Wisconsin got trucked and dragged by Iowa this past weekend.
00:26They kind of struggled the same way a little bit against North Carolina.
00:31Who's Notre Dame played this year?
00:35So Wisconsin might be like the third best team if they were in the ACC.
00:40They did lose to BYU, but they still played BYU.
00:45Like that game, that game still happened.
00:48They beat North Carolina by more than Miami beat North Carolina.
00:51Although, shout out Belichick, like that UNC team.
00:54And here's, okay, here's the deal.
00:58And people are going to try and say that, you know,
01:00oh, you're unfair to the ACC.
01:01Here's how I know I'm not.
01:03I host college football today on this network.
01:06I talk to Dan every week about college football.
01:09I love college football.
01:11Do you know how I found out the result of Florida State-Clemson
01:15when they told me Norvell got fired?
01:16I didn't even know.
01:18I didn't know the result of the game.
01:20Because those two teams that are supposed to be the other linchpins of this conference
01:26are so bad and irrelevant that we didn't cover FSU-Clemson on the show.
01:33I didn't bet FSU-Clemson.
01:35And I didn't care about FSU-Clemson.
01:38So don't get mad at me.
01:41Don't get, listen, it's fine.
01:44Listen, Notre Dame can hopefully handle their business.
01:47Miami are handling their business.
01:49Let's just, kumbaya, it's not our fault that everybody else is a mess.
01:54Got it here, but I do love to point out that Miami does have a win against a top 15
01:59team.
02:01Notre Dame does not.
02:02So we will have that this weekend here.
02:05Oh, I get it.
02:07I'm with you.
02:07Hey, listen, all kidding aside, Kevin, Miami hasn't played anybody.
02:12And I don't know who Mensa is, and I don't know who Tony is.
02:15I know they're fabulous football players.
02:17And I have been always critical of, you know, you have to play great football teams.
02:23I think that BYU game is going to be more essential to this football game this weekend
02:28for Notre Dame than any other game they've played this year.
02:31Because when you're in big games like that, you know the type of level and the speed of
02:36the game you're going to need to play in a game like this.
02:38Miami hasn't played in a game like this all year.
02:41They haven't.
02:42I do think that there are going to be some, there probably will be some real nerves for
02:48Notre Dame, right?
02:49Like, listen, we can take, listen, we're going to have fun, you and I, with this, right?
02:53But just from, you know, entering into this game, if Notre Dame lose, they, it will possibly
03:01end their season.
03:03And all of a sudden Freeman, who I think is a heck of a coach, will have to look in
03:10the mirror and figure out what's going on here.
03:13Why, why after a run to the national championship, if we spend two straight seasons feeling like
03:19we have one of the best teams in the country, but we can't actually put the wins up when
03:23they matter.
03:23And what's very interesting to me is if you are out there, a Notre Dame believer or someone
03:30who doesn't even believe in Miami, well, the, the books aren't giving you any type of discount
03:36to get in.
03:37I mean, I'm seeing five and a half right now, like the, I know home field advantage is, of
03:43course, a piece of it, but the books are telling you that Notre Dame are, are obviously the
03:48better team than Miami.
03:51I don't think that's fair at all.
03:53Again, as an Irish guy to say, Notre Dame are obviously better than Miami.
03:57That, that evidence isn't available to us right now, guys.
04:01I think this is the last possession game.
04:03I think it's one of those kinds of football games last year.
04:07Correct me if I'm wrong, Kev.
04:08I think the score was 28, 24.
04:10I think it's kind of right in that room again, this year in South Bend dude, like, and I don't
04:16really know who ends up getting the victory here.
04:19I do think it's going to be a last possession.
04:21And if I had to pick the unit for these two teams, I think Notre Dame's defense is going
04:27to be the key in this ball game.
04:29If they are able to stop that offense, Notre Dame wins this ball game.
04:34I'm glad you said it.
04:35So this is the area of the Notre Dame fighting Irish that I am most fascinated by.
04:41The defensive numbers are all great, but that's where the who have you played comes in.
04:46We go back to the game against BYU.
04:48And in the first half, they were kind of lifeless.
04:53And then in the second half, BYU didn't have a prayer.
04:56I mean, they couldn't move the ball.
04:57And then of course, because it's how football works, they did when it mattered.
05:00And, you know, they put the drive together.
05:03We can joke again about who's played who.
05:07Notre Dame haven't seen an offense like the Miami Hurricanes.
05:10They have not.
05:12And for every single one of these guys on the, you know, Irish defense who think they're going
05:16inside the first round, top 60 draft picks.
05:20Well, this is it.
05:22You know, this is where it happens.
05:23People say, oh, Leonard Moore did a great job with Malachi Tony last year.
05:27Congrats.
05:28A true freshman's first ever game that nobody really, like, and also, I don't even know
05:34if that's true.
05:35So there's a lot to be figured out from that side of the ball for Notre Dame.
05:41Notre Dame should not have a problem scoring.
05:43This is something that you and I have discussed a little bit.
05:47Like the Miami defense will let you get involved.
05:50Like the Miami defense will let you get involved.
