00:00Yesterday on the Browns postgame show, we're going to do it again.
00:02He's Mr. Tyvus Powell, and he joins us as we speak.
00:07Hello, Tyvus.
00:08Hi!
00:09How you doing today?
00:10Did the sun come up today?
00:11It did.
00:12Hi, Tyvus.
00:12Actually early because of, you know, daylight savings time going away.
00:16Yeah, that is true.
00:17Yeah, that is true.
00:18It wasn't a great weekend for football for me.
00:21You know, obviously Buckeyes-Browns was not.
00:24Neither one of them did me, right?
00:25The Buckeyes went out there and laid an egg, and the Browns said,
00:28hold my beer.
00:29Let me show you how you really lay an egg.
00:33Bags and eggs.
00:34Isn't that what it's all about?
00:36Yeah, that's beautiful.
00:38But hey, you know what?
00:39We got another week to do it all over again.
00:42Was that the real Browns yesterday?
00:44Oh.
00:45That is the question.
00:46That is the million-dollar question that everybody wants to know.
00:49You know, this is one of those situations that as the season was going.
00:52Wait, where's my million bucks, man?
00:53I want my million.
00:54I asked that.
00:55Give it to me.
00:56I mean, what do you know?
00:57You plug being good.
00:59You be with the Dolans and Travis Daffin and Travis Kelce and all that stuff.
01:02Oh, here we go.
01:03If anything, you can loan me the million.
01:08Touche.
01:09You win.
01:10You win.
01:11Touche.
01:12And you can catch more of this on the Browns pregame show before every game,
01:15two hours before.
01:16Yes.
01:16When you look at the Browns, though, obviously, you know, it's like,
01:20was it sustainable?
01:22The way that they were winning, was it sustainable?
01:24And a lot of people thought, no.
01:26Obviously, a real football player would say, no, it's not going to happen every game.
01:30You know, it's not.
01:31And every time you come down to the fourth quarter, it's not going to be that
01:34y'all just going to miraculously pull it out, no matter what happened in the
01:37first three quarters.
01:38Right?
01:38And I think Pittsburgh still has understood how good the Browns are in the fourth
01:42quarter.
01:43And they went ahead and got a big lead before they even got to the fourth quarter,
01:47kind of taking their momentum out of the game so they don't have to worry about a lot
01:51of things in the fourth.
01:52And that's what I think ultimately was the recipe for the Steelers to be able to win
01:57that game.
01:57And good job to them.
01:58I mean, they came in there and they out-physicaled the Browns in every aspect.
02:02And they took their lunch.
02:03You know, after all the chirping and all the things that was going on, you was hoping
02:07that the Browns would stand up for the moment.
02:09And that was not the case.
02:12After a little time to think about it, bigger concern for you, the defense and the
02:17inability to stop the run or the offense inability to run and get anything other than
02:24Harold Fannin going yesterday?
02:26That's got to be.
02:26It's always going to be the offense because for the past, I don't know, three or four
02:31years, it's been the offense.
02:33The defense, we've seen them have a letdown, but they've always responded and they've
02:37always been something you can count on.
02:39The offense, we have not seen in quite some time.
02:42So, and we still, even as great as the season's been, we still haven't really seen it.
02:46The Tennessee game was the only time that we truly walked away like, okay, that offense
02:50looks really good right there.
02:52But outside of that, we haven't seen it consistently enough.
02:56So, and the offensive line is going to be the big question mark.
02:58Nothing's going to happen if your offensive line is not going to block and, you know,
03:03do a great job creating lanes for you.
03:04So, they have to figure that part out really fast.
03:08It's not like they can't do it because we, again, we've seen it against the Titans.
03:12Now, the Titans is a lesser of opponent.
03:14Right now, you trade that veteran, you sign in free agency and you give the guy you drafted
03:18a chance, DeJuan Jones, same type of situation.
03:23Or is that taking too big of a risk at, you know, such a key spot?
03:26I think you would have to trust what you've seen in practice because as fans, we haven't
03:32seen it.
03:33You know, obviously, we've seen DeJuan start for a couple of seasons and injuries has
03:38always been the issue with him.
03:40So, that's something that you're rolling the dice on.
03:43And I think last year we found out, if you don't have no tackles and you're starting
03:47to get, your starters get hurt, how difficult the season can be.
03:51So, you're rolling the dice with that one.
03:53And Zach Venter, we haven't really, we haven't seen it.
03:56I know he looked pretty decent at times in the preseason.
03:58But, as we know, the preseason and the regular season is two totally different things.
04:02So, you would have to have seen something in practice that jumped off the page to have
04:06to give you the confidence to do that.
04:08But, if they, like I said, if they trade one of these guys that they pay, then they are
04:15acknowledging the fact that this thing, they gave it enough time and it's just not clicking,
04:19it's not working, they need to shake something up.
04:22All right, where are we going from here?
04:23And so, I know I asked you, I mean, what needs to get fixed immediately that can help
04:28them win next week?
04:31I know we talked about the line a little.
04:33Yeah, I mean, what can they work on this week to make sure it doesn't happen that happened?
04:37I'm still wondering about all the balls that Deshaun threw that you got blocked down yesterday.
04:43It seems like there's an abundance of those, plus penalties.
04:46I mean, there's a number of things that they need to work on, but you give me your priority
04:49number one.
04:50Well, I think the penalty, I can't speak all the way on this, but I'm going to be a little
04:55bit, I'm going to jump out there a little bit.
04:58I think the penalties go down a little bit, because I don't think we'll get taunting penalties.
05:03No.
05:04I'm going to guess that that had to do with the rivalry of why we got so many of those
05:09taunting penalties, and I'm going to guess that that gets cleared, cleaned up for next
05:12week.
05:14I do think that the offensive line, particularly Spencer Fano, he had his welcome to the NFL
05:20moment.
05:21He'll have another big boy challenge with Chase Young coming up this week, because Chase
05:25Young was second in sacks in the league the last time I checked.
05:29I haven't looked after yesterday, so I don't know if things changed.
05:33But he had, I think, seven sacks on the season, which was second place.
05:37So, Spencer will have another big boy test.
05:41They're going to, obviously, Chase is going to watch that tape of Alex Highsmith and lick
05:45his chops, like, oh, yeah, we about to get some money.
05:47So, Spencer's got some things to prove in this game, and he's got the chance to earn a lot
05:51of respect from his teams and his peers.
05:55The run game, it needs, we need something.
05:58We need, it can't be the Tennessee game, it's going to be the only good game we run the ball.
06:02We need something there, because although Deshaun Watson did throw for over 300 yards yesterday,
06:08the run game was not good at all.
06:11And I think that's going to be the thing moving forward, is that we have to have some
06:16effective runs to be able to open things up in the past.
06:20If you got that defense off balance and they can't pretty much guess what you're about to
06:24do, I think that's going to make your offense more effective.
06:28So, the run game, to me, is the thing that I would focus on.
06:31I know that's something they've been trying to focus on.
06:34But, to me, you're going to win a lot of games, especially later in the season.
06:37The later it gets in the season, the more you need to have the ability to run the football.
06:41Tyvus Powell joining us from the Browns Radio Network in the Big Ten Tailgate.
06:46Do we have the right personnel at running back?
06:49And I mean the running backs.
06:51Quinshawn, okay.
06:53Dylan Sampson, okay.
06:54Obviously, Quinshawn digged up last year, and Dylan dinged up earlier this year.
06:58You like those guys?
07:00I do like those guys, actually.
07:02You know, Quinshawn has shown me last year, I thought our offensive line was not great at all.
07:07And yet, Quinshawn had a bunch of bright moments, was able to find some scenes to get things done.
07:12Even this year, things haven't been great, but he still has found a crease every now and again to get
07:17through.
07:18It's just always going to be about health with him.
07:21And I think he's got to do a much better job of picking his feet up, because he gets tripped
07:25up a lot when he's trying to go through those gaps.
07:27So, he's got to pick his feet up a little bit when he runs through there, which is something that's
07:30correctable.
07:31Dylan Sampson is perfect for Deshaun Watson because of the swing pass and the scrambling ability that Deshaun Watson carries
07:37and how he likes to dump it off to his running backs after a while.
07:40So, I like those two there.
07:42I don't know how Dylan is between the tackles.
07:45I know he's always been an off-tackle guy, outside the line and things like that.
07:51But probably going to have to try to figure out how to get him through the tackles a little bit,
07:54because if he comes in the game and you know he's not going to go inside, it's pretty predictable of
08:00what to do on a defense.
08:01So, he's going to have to learn how to get better at running between tackles.
08:06We were talking about the AFC North a bit ago on the show.
08:10Are the Steelers the team to beat?
08:11Are the Bengals the team to beat?
08:13And can the Browns beat them?
08:16The Steelers, well, the Browns have already beat the Steelers before, so they're beatable for sure.
08:22The Cincinnati, Cincinnati should have lost that game against the Titans yesterday.
08:31They kind of got lucky out of that hit.
08:33That Dexter Lawrence sack saved the day because they were right there in field goal range.
08:38So, I think that they look like they are gettable, and the Browns have owned their numbers a few years
08:46ago with Kevin Stefanski and all that.
08:48So, I don't fear them, and I think Denzel's playing some of the best football we've seen from him, so
08:54I don't fear them.
08:56But the Steelers will be the ones that, obviously, after they offer recent games, they would be the team.
09:03They're going to be physical like that, and we're not going to match their physicality, then we stand no chance.
09:07That's just football.
09:10See you Sunday.
09:11I'll see you guys Sunday.
09:13Go Bucs.
09:13Go Browns.
09:14Go Cavs tonight against the Thunder.
09:17Go Guards.
09:19Free class A.
09:20He started his trial.
09:21That's the innocent man.
09:22Get him back on the Guardians.
09:25Are you really saying that on your show?
09:28Free class A.
09:31I'd find another cause.
09:33I would, too.
09:36See ya.
09:37The trial starts, isn't it innocent until proven guilty?
09:41Well, yeah.
09:42Okay.
09:43Okay.
09:43Okay.
09:45Goodbye.
09:46Goodbye.
09:47Divus Powell.
