00:01Didn't say, didn't even really say much on the Rich Eisen show earlier last week.
00:04It was just like, yeah, these comments will be addressed.
00:06And my whole, I tried, I was cute about it and said like, well, you guys are on, you
00:10guys are on opposite sides of the ball, so you won't see each other on the field.
00:13So how's it going to be addressed?
00:14Is it going to be addressed pregame, postgame?
00:16How's it going to be addressed?
00:17Well, certainly it was addressed by the Pittsburgh Steelers, Jared versus comments.
00:20And then Cam Hayward's asked about it and Cam Hayward ain't going to take nothing.
00:23He, bam, he's going to talk like a head coach at times.
00:25And he just said, yeah, they're trying to get a win.
00:27And they've won four in a row and they're six and two and they're looking really good.
00:29But especially in this division where I think a lot of people are wondering what we are
00:34right now, whether or not we're real or whether or not this was just a hot start and maybe
00:37just a little bit better than the Raiders.
00:39You have the Bengals whose defense is just, you could have done better with a bunch of
00:43cones out there yesterday against the Titans.
00:45And now you have a wide open division because of what happened with Lamar Jackson yesterday,
00:49where he's got to get thumb surgery this morning.
00:52So you got three other teams right now that are basically either in a quagmire or questionable.
00:58And then you have you, you're sitting pretty at six and two going into a bye week in November,
01:02right before a trade deadline.
01:04So you're in a position of power.
01:06But hey, to the victor go the spoils, man.
01:09I'm not going to sit there and huff and puff and get upset myself.
01:12Like I didn't have a great feeling going into yesterday.
01:17Obviously, everybody wants them to win.
01:18We all want them to win.
01:19And I'm not going to lead this segment with my petty squabbles here.
01:22I'll get to the Steelers squabbles.
01:23Then we'll get to this here in a second.
01:25But damn it, man.
01:26Like you go down there or you go over there, you lose like that.
01:30To me, that coming back from that loss, that's, that's one thing.
01:35To me, the bigger challenge is going to be this coming Sunday against New Orleans.
01:38Cause I'm telling you right now, another game on the road, you're playing against a team
01:42that ain't good.
01:44They've got a week off though, before they're coming off the bye week.
01:47Like, yeah, this is a game where you better go down there and win.
01:49If you want to be taken any bit seriously whatsoever, you beat bad teams on your schedule.
01:52You should get into the playoffs, but that yesterday and getting all worked up and getting
01:57all emotional, the taunting penalty thing, stuff like that.
02:05I, and I think it's just a catch all, but it just shows that you guys were in your own
02:08heads and you came out and you weren't ready to get hit in the mouth and they hit you in
02:14the mouth and they kept doing it.
02:16And there was nothing you could do except for pushing and shoving and getting upset.
02:19Yeah.
02:19Wasn't it pretty clear that they lacked the maturity to handle that for whatever reason
02:25yesterday, because they, they, they handled everything they needed to when they were at
02:30home on Thursday night football and, and the country was watching this game was not, was
02:35not, you know, a feature high profile game.
02:38It was barely talked about, you know, around the NFL landscape.
02:42And it was an afterthought after the game because it was, you know, such a, such a one-sided
02:47game.
02:47So for whatever reason, I don't know what it was that they just were not able to handle,
02:54you know, anything yesterday, anything about that game yesterday.
02:59And look, they've gotten down in games before and against Tennessee and this, these were
03:03not the Titans.
03:04Although, you know, Tennessee had a, had a pretty sterling offensive performance against
03:08the Bengals yesterday, clearly this wasn't the Titans.
03:12These weren't the Titans.
03:13This was going to be very different.
03:15This is going to be a tougher battle.
03:17And you turned the ball over twice early, but it wasn't like that should have been the
03:20game, you know, because Pittsburgh has their own issues at times offensively.
03:25And yeah, it looked like they could have just kept running the football, but this game
03:28was not like a four possession game at half.
03:31Exactly.
03:32Like there was no reason to just be mentally out of this game.
03:35It should have been a one possession.
03:36But it felt like they were mentally out of the game.
03:37It should have been a one possession game.
03:39And when you come out and you're sloppy, because you've been, you've come out sloppy
03:43two weeks in a row.
03:44You've come out bad two weeks in a row.
03:45You can come out bad and drive around a team like Tennessee.
03:48See, I felt better because of the way they were able to get around Tennessee.
03:51You're like, okay, you were down 14.
03:52You stayed with it.
03:53You went up 17, 14 at half, stayed with them, trying to punch in the mouth with a
03:57halftime adjustment, still ended up winning that football game.
03:59I felt better about that.
04:00This quality football team, you just can't do that.
04:02You're gonna have to mind your P's and Q's and sitting there losing your mind and getting
04:04all emotional and not being able to play within the realm of football
04:07was not gonna be able to do that.
04:08And then what makes it even worse is you say all these things, everybody gets excited,
04:12and then you go out there, you lay the type of egg that you laid, and then really, to
04:16me, it just sounds like Jared Verst doesn't take any responsibility for what he said.
04:20I still say what I said, and that was dirty play.
04:23Yeah, like he's focused on all the wrong things.
04:26Yeah, you sound like a heel manager.
04:27It's just like, man, take responsibility.
04:30You had one tackle.
04:31We got you in one of the biggest trades this franchise has ever made.
04:37Part of what it is, I know I'm not getting 23 sacks, guy.
04:41I know that's not gonna happen.
04:42Part of what excited me was your leadership, but that's not leadership.
04:46I said what I said.
04:48I took it on the chin because of what I said.
04:50They won.
04:51We lost.
04:52We gotta get better.
04:53We will get better.
04:54I said what I said.
04:55I take responsibility for it, and I ended up getting us embarrassed.
04:59That's what I wanted to hear out of them.
05:00Not whatever we just played over the last 40 minutes.
05:05That's what really bothers me.
05:06That's what really irked me.
05:08I'm not blaming it all on him.
05:09Look, there is gonna be big-time pressure on Verst, not just this week.
05:15Although, it better happen soon.
05:17He better get a sack.
05:17I know that sounds silly because we have better numbers than just sacks to be able in 2026 to evaluate
05:25whether or not you're getting the job done.
05:27You gotta get a sack.
05:28At some point, you just have to go get a sack.
05:30We've had, like, 11 guys on the team have gotten sacks this year.
05:33You're the one guy that hasn't.
05:34But you notice, like, he's got eight games.
05:37And really, he got the first seven where we gave a lot of leeway as fans.
05:40We're like, hey, we're understanding.
05:42He's not Miles.
05:43We're not asking him to be Miles.
05:45And what did I keep saying?
05:46Hey, we got 11 different Browns who have sacks.
05:49And we got a better culture than we've had.
05:51And then you say what you say, and we go out and lose to our biggest rivals where they're our
05:55neighbors.
05:56They're our friends.
05:57They're our family members.
05:58We are very, very close to each other.
05:59So now guys going into work got to hear it from their Steelers friends if they haven't already through their
06:04phones.
06:04They got to deal with their family members here.
06:06And you become public enemy number one for so many people because it was you who shot their mouth off.
06:11And any Tom, Dick, or Harry can shoot their mouth off, but they ain't playing on Sunday.
06:15So you did have some control of what you were saying and control over backing it up.
06:20And you didn't back it up.
06:22And I think for a lot of Browns fans, like yesterday was the day they took the gloves off.
06:27Yesterday was the day where they had said, you know, I've sat here and I talked about, hey, we're better
06:33against the run or now certainly not better against the run, but we might be better against the run because
06:38of Jared verse.
06:38Or we're going to have a better culture because of Jared verse.
06:41Or you're going to see he's going to be almost Miles Garrett.
06:43Obviously no one's going to be Miles Garrett, but we'll be fine.
06:45And there's still time to do a lot of that stuff.
06:48But damn, man, there's been a lot of people starting to wonder here and there about, you know, it has
06:53been six games.
06:54It has been seven games.
06:55And you say what you say going into this, and then you don't back it up.
06:59Yeah, people are going to be really, really, really mad.
07:01And I think for a lot of fans, they took the gloves off yesterday afternoon going, what are we getting
07:06back here?
07:07What is this?
07:08This is not going our way.
07:10I'm seeing AI memes on the internet at Cameron Wembley and all that other stuff.
07:14It's like, this ain't good.
07:16216-474-0092.
07:17Kevin and Worcester, you're first up on the fan.
07:19Hello.
07:20Hey, how are you?
07:21Doing well.
07:22Go ahead.
07:23Good.
07:23Hey, I get all this Jared Burst stuff.
07:26I mean, it's kind of self-correcting.
07:29He got body slammed yesterday.
07:30So, it is what it is.
07:32But I hear all this talk about the defense, Jared Burst, and all that stuff.
07:35Because I feel like the real problem here is the offensive line.
07:39We can't give up eight sacks, 13 hits, and then wonder why we can't run the ball and why our
07:45defense is on the field.
07:47You know, three and out, three and out, three and out.
07:49And then they're just staying on the field.
07:51So, and Titus Howard is absolutely trash.
07:54So, I kind of just wanted to get your thoughts on that.
07:58Well, the whole offense, the only thing that stuck up for him yesterday is the whole offensive line was bad.
08:04So, it wasn't just him.
08:05Now, I understand that there's been questions about him this entire year.
08:09Clearly, no, I think he's played hurt.
08:11But at the same time, I can't sit there and make a bunch of excuses, right?
08:15I thought yesterday was as bad as it got.
08:18I thought that they, and thank you for the call, Kevin.
08:20I thought they thoroughly confused our rookies.
08:23I think they thoroughly confused Austin Barber.
08:25Spencer Fano, I said it right at the beginning of the show, got to the point where I felt bad
08:28for him at the end of the game.
08:30The picks that were set that I just don't think that he was able to pick up and deal with.
08:34And now that that's on tape, because remember, they weren't getting home.
08:37Like, it wasn't like they were blitzing eight guys here.
08:40They were getting home with four.
08:43You're having a bad day at the office as an offensive line.
08:47And seeing what I saw, and I got to go back and take a look more at it, because I'm
08:51like, man, he's just getting picked.
08:52And the ends are getting around, and he's not being able to find them, and he's kind of looking around.
08:57But I felt the same way about the entire offensive line.
08:59Well, people were going after Watson for drifting out of the gun, but they were also getting inside pressure.
09:06So, it's like on every play, he didn't know it was going to come inside or outside.
09:09If they're shooting right down the A-gap, where are you going to go?
09:12Like, you were going to have to drift.
09:13I hate to say it.
09:14Yeah.
09:15When you don't have guys getting picked up.
09:17I mean, you had the one Peyton Wilson when we were at the goal line.
09:19I mean, right through.
09:21I mean, right down the zero.
09:23So, there's not much you can do.
09:25So, for Watson, like, hey, you didn't play.
09:28The team didn't play well.
09:30I haven't put anything on Watson, really.
09:32Can I?
09:33Yeah.
09:33Well, the fumble, maybe, after he came back into the game, the fumble slash.
09:38I was asking, whatever happened to In the Grasp?
09:40Because he had, you know, guys draped all over his feet.
09:43I understand.
09:43I understand.
09:44Yes.
09:44He should have just gone down, so that's a mistake.
09:46But that sucked.
09:48But still, that wasn't catastrophic.
09:50Even though you handed them the ball with a good field position, it wasn't catastrophic.
09:55Yet, it's what happened when they came out at the end of the first half and then into the start
09:59of the second half.
10:00That was game.
10:01Daryl joins us just over one hour from now.
10:04I want to know if this was a one-off or if this is a symptom of something to come.
10:07I hope that he says that this is a one-off here.
10:10But speaking of people who were shooting their mouths off last week, I didn't want to do it at the
10:14top of the hour.
10:15So, I pushed it back.
10:15It's on me.
10:16My petty squabbles.
10:18I'm going to get a little bit petty here in five minutes.
10:20Is that okay?
10:20I won't do it the whole time.
10:22Can I just be petty for us in five minutes?
10:23Okay.
10:24All right.
