00:00Well, that sucks, and whatever anybody wants to say about trash talk and not being able to back
00:11it up, you go right on ahead. That sucked yesterday. There ain't no doubt about it.
00:18Now, I stick to my guns. To me, I think next Sunday is already bigger than this,
00:25because if you go down there, you have your, and you go down there and you lose,
00:27and you walk around and lose, you got yourself a hell of a problem.
00:30But I'm not going to, I got all week to talk about that. This sucked yesterday.
00:36There's just no way around it. Offense was listless. Defense got gashed. You have a problem stopping the run.
00:42Todd Monken is right. They didn't coach it well enough. Offensive line was a mess.
00:48It showed your inexperience. I felt bad for Spencer Fano at the end. I mean, he was just getting picked
00:54all day.
00:55I don't know if you noticed the same thing. It's just bad all the way around.
00:59Deshaun Watson wasn't that great. I don't think he had really an opportunity to be any good at all
01:03because of everything going on. It's just bad. It's just a real, real, real bad day.
01:06And what made it worse is that there were a lot of people saying a lot of things,
01:10and they got to deal with that. Like somebody sent me, I'll tell you this, Tone,
01:14somebody sent me already Brock Hoffman, who's the right guard for the Pittsburgh Steelers.
01:21He posted something on Instagram, and you got Patrick Queen popping in on it and everything.
01:27And I go, ain't nothing we can do. We lost. They can say things. It's the way she goes. Go
01:34ahead.
01:34Yeah, it is kind of funny. Like, they split. They split the two games.
01:39But it doesn't feel that way. It feels, especially with the way that Pittsburgh is trash-talking
01:45and their radio hosts that we have on from time to time that we like to noodle just like they
01:51like to noodle us,
01:53their players, our fans. It's like everybody forgot that the Browns beat them, and it doesn't matter.
01:59It's like it doesn't matter, and I'm like, well, no, it's just this was more recent.
02:02I'll give you guys a little hint.
02:03I get that, but that was the whole reason why we were so excited that they beat them
02:08in the Thursday night game is because it counted.
02:11It was like that was the preseason game, and this was the playoff game.
02:14They're even. They split. They kicked our ass yesterday, and there are some concerning things about that
02:22because the failure to stop the run, that is now the identity of the defense,
02:26and the failure to be able to protect, that seems like the identity of the offensive line
02:33against better pass rushes.
02:34So those two things, they are going to have to really work hard to try to reverse right now
02:41what the narrative is on those.
02:42No, it's a bad loss. It doesn't make anybody feel good.
02:47You can tell I'm not going to sit there.
02:48And let me tell you guys, let me let you guys in on something, a little bit of a secret
02:52here.
02:52And I shouldn't do this because it will be used against me later on.
02:55I guarantee it will be used against me because then the guys who are sitting across from me
03:00will say, well, Ken, are you really telling the truth, or are you just a little bit nervous?
03:03Do you notice how I didn't want to get into it with Pony this week?
03:06Did you know how I really?
03:07And I don't like doing crosstalk with other radio show hosts.
03:11I don't like that.
03:12And I think anybody who was watching on YouTube could see I did not like doing that.
03:16It wasn't my idea.
03:18I didn't subscribe to that when I was young, and I don't subscribe to that when I'm old.
03:22But I'll tell you this.
03:24You notice what I wasn't doing all week?
03:27Except for the one thing where I said, it was like, hey, you play Renegade, and you got jean jackets
03:32on.
03:32Like, that's as far as I was willing to go.
03:35But you notice, was I rather subdued this week?
03:40Yeah.
03:41You just didn't treat it like it was...
03:42Did I?
03:43Well...
03:43You weren't treating it like it was a life-or-death game.
03:46Because it wasn't.
03:47Because it wasn't.
03:47It isn't.
03:48It wasn't.
03:49But also, you noticed I was a little bit more subdued.
03:53I'm just saying, I didn't think they were going to get their ass beat the way they did.
03:57I didn't have a good feeling going into the game.
03:59You're young.
04:00You're talking a lot of trash.
04:02I love that Todd Munkin didn't.
04:04You're going to have to back that up.
04:06And they went out there, and they got beat by veterans.
04:08And they got taught a lesson.
04:10And as a fan, I'll deal with it.
04:13As a fan, you'll deal with it.
04:14So, yeah, there's going to be a lot of Steelers fans in our mentions, and maybe even calling in today.
04:18And, yay, what comes with it is what comes with it.
04:21But I won the one ranting and raving and screaming and yelling.
04:25Now, I'm going to leave it to that right now.
04:277 o'clock, I got to take aim at somebody who wasn't even wearing a jersey yesterday.
04:31Either way, like I look at it and go, this was as bad as it gets.
04:36And I'll get the Jared verse at 623 because I got to go over the whole game and say, you
04:40know, is this one loss or is this something bigger?
04:43Because to me, the challenge is now already I'm turning the page to Sunday.
04:47That's not a good football team down there.
04:50But they're coming off a bye week.
04:51And I think people are questioning right now how good of a football team you are.
04:54Whether or not you just had a horseshoe you were carrying around.
04:57Or whether or not that you can go out and deal with adversity.
05:02Deal with being embarrassed.
05:03Deal with people who are on the other team where you were talking all week.
05:06And then dealing with the people on the other team going to Instagram and making fun of you and talking
05:12trash about you.
05:13And people saying that everything's right in the world now in the AFC North.
05:16How are you going to respond to that?
05:18Are you going to go down to New Orleans and be the same old sorry-ass Browns and walk around
05:22and get beat by a hungry football team?
05:23Because if you lose next Sunday, then yeah, next Monday has a little bit of a different feel to it.
05:29Like I'll take, I'm used to them losing in Pittsburgh tone.
05:32Like that's, it's kind of how it's gone.
05:34But you must respond next week.
05:37Yeah.
05:38Well, I said at the end of last week, did anybody remember what the Browns did in Pittsburgh in 2020
05:44in the regular season?
05:45When we made the playoffs and had this resurgence and coach of the year.
05:49And we blew them out in the playoff game in Pittsburgh.
05:52Does anybody remember what happened in Pittsburgh that regular season?
05:55We got blown out.
05:56We got absolutely manhandled in that game.
05:58And so to the degree that, I do question sometimes.
06:03Like if you are of a certain age as an NFL fan, right?
06:08And I don't care if you've rooted for a team full of heartbreak, whether you've rooted for just a disastrous
06:14team.
06:14I don't care where you are in the country.
06:15If you've watched the NFL for a period of time, like you do know this is, this is a week
06:22to week league.
06:23Yes.
06:23Anybody that tries to make sense.
06:25Yeah.
06:25You look for trends over time and we'll be monitoring offensive line.
06:28We'll be monitoring, you know, how they, how they do with the run game and whether or not they can
06:33stop the run because now it's out there.
06:36Everybody knows what the, where the problem, where the, uh, the pain point is on the Browns defense.
06:41You know, that we've had some teams kind of take it easy on us.
06:44Like the, like the, you know, the Baker Mayfield led, uh, Tampa Bay Buccaneers decided to stop running, even though
06:50they were running all over us.
06:51And we ended up winning that game.
06:53Um, I, no, one's going to stop running on you now.
06:55Everybody is going to run on you.
06:57So there are these things that they have to fix.
06:58Unless they stop themselves.
06:59I was surprised in some of the possessions.
07:00They even decided to throw it all.
07:02I know.
07:02I was like, that had to be, I actually wrote down a board that had to be Aaron Rogers, just
07:05trying to prove a point or something like that, that the, okay.
07:08You agree with me.
07:08Cause I'm going, there is no reason to not run the ball here and run it down our throats and
07:12get out of here with a win.
07:14Oh, they wanted to prove a point.
07:15That's why they got one off to Darnell Washington.
07:17They got them inside the one that it was up by 21.
07:20And then they decided that they were going to really run the ball a little bit.
07:22But even though I still thought that Aaron Rogers was just like, yeah, you know what?
07:25I know what you call, but I'm going to do my own thing.
07:27Yeah.
07:28But, but the whole, this is a week to week league, except during Browns games.
07:32And our fan base and, and, and, and it just seems like, well, that's it.
07:36They're frauds.
07:37They're not good.
07:37That's like, wait a second.
07:38We had one, five, a six.
07:40What do you mean?
07:41Yes.
07:41They have issues.
07:43Everybody has issues.
07:44Just ask, just ask the Baltimore Ravens about issues right now.
07:47Cause we help make it that way.
07:48Now, again, I'm not going to say what I want to say at seven or I'm going to say what
07:52I really want to say at seven o'clock, but I'm just going to let you know that we, we
07:56make it that way.
07:57Guys with mics in front of their faces help make it that way.
08:00Because when you treat a game, like there's going to be no tomorrow, even though you're five and two.
08:04Yeah.
08:04You tend to get people riled up.
08:06Well, when you tend to, when you tend to speak, when you tend to talk out of your ass all
08:11week long.
08:11And really you talk out of your ass throughout the entire off season.
08:14Then if you think they're going to win that many games, then I guess week eight shouldn't be that big
08:19of a deal, but it is.
08:20So it makes me wonder if you really meant what you were saying during the summertime and if you really
08:25mean what you're saying right now, but I'll go back and I'll keep that at seven o'clock.
08:29Cause I'm still pretty upset about that.
08:30And I'm going to take my time really and get into it, into the minutiae coming up at seven.
08:35I'll tell you that right now.
08:37But I do want to know from the fans, cause Lama, you seem to be taking it.
08:42All right.
08:43I'm not, I'm not happy.
08:44I am flat out.
08:46I am flat out concerned how they're going to, how they're going to play offense the rest of the year
08:49with this line.
08:50And that would be, by the way, that would be yesterday.
08:52That would have been with Deshaun Watson, Shedora Sanders, Dylan Gabriel, Joe Flacco.
08:58I like, I, I don't know how many quarterbacks you want to go in there with yesterday.
09:03And there have been games without a doubt.
09:05And especially, you know, in years past where Deshaun Watson walks himself in and says, I thought he had flat
09:10out no chance yesterday.
09:11I just thought he had no chance.
09:12I agree.
09:13And I don't know how many quarterbacks could have played well.
09:16I wasn't mad at him over the performance.
09:19I'll tell you that.
09:19It wasn't a good one, but I wasn't sitting there going, this guy's a disaster and we got to get
09:23this guy the hell out of there.
09:25I mean, they were getting home with, with a four man rush and you had an offensive line that was
09:29flatly confused on a four man rush.
09:32And if you can't handle that, and that's a good front four, I give them credit.
09:36That is a talented front four.
09:37And they've been that way for a long time.
09:38We somewhat neutralized, you know, in that Thursday night game, Pittsburgh had their adjustments.
09:43And that's why you don't go shooting your mouth off because you know what, good football coaches and Mike McCarthy,
09:47yes, still looks like a bowl of mashed potatoes, but he is a good football coach.
09:50They tend to make adjustments and learn these things.
09:52They tend to understand from week, the first time you play them to the second time you play them.
09:56See, that's part of it.
09:57Okay.
09:58So that's part of the reason why you don't really shoot your mouth off last week.
10:01And I mean that for Jared Verse.
10:03Of course I mean that for a lot of people.
10:04That's why I was glad Tom Munkin wasn't because what I did see yesterday, I'll tell you this, and it
10:09wasn't just on him.
10:10You got three taunting calls.
10:12Now, taunting has to be a catch-all.
10:14It has to be like, hey, we don't want to tell you what they really said.
10:17So it's just called taunting because nobody's taunting up 21 points.
10:20You're not doing that.
10:21So what was said and what was going on?
10:24And I guess I could be excited that they showed fight while getting their ass beat on television like that.
10:29I guess I could do that, but I think that the light on a young football team, the second youngest
10:35roster in the NFL, Anthony,
10:38the rivalry might have been a little bit too big.
10:40The lights might have been a little bit too bright, and now it's up to them to learn from this
10:44experience
10:45and to start to mature and be a football team that we can still put in seven in heaven in
10:50the next month.
10:51Yeah.
10:52All this with a brand new team, so many new faces, so many young guys, and a new coach, new
10:57coaching staff.
10:58There are going to be those scenarios, and it was interesting to hear Todd after the game when he was
11:04asked,
11:05does this happen because you have a young team?
11:07He goes, that's no excuse.
11:08Okay, it is no excuse, and I'm glad he said that.
11:10I don't want any excuses pervasive around the locker room.
11:14I don't want any of that.
11:16But me, who's supposed to talk about this stuff, that is what happens.
11:20I mean, that is what a young team does.
11:22Here is Todd Munkin in that postgame saying exactly what you just pointed out.
11:26Oh, I think that's just an excuse.
11:28That's an excuse.
11:30Do we have a young team?
11:31Of course we have a young team.
11:32Does that exonerate ourselves from two turnovers the first two drives
11:35and keeping our poise and playing at a high level?
11:39No, of course not.
11:40Otherwise, what were the other five wins?
11:44It doesn't exonerate you, and he is correct about that.
11:47I'm glad he said it.
11:49I'm glad he said all those things.
11:50Yeah, he is 100% correct.
11:51But I also think what it really highlights is, again, you say all these things during
11:55the week against a bunch of veterans who have been there before.
11:59Cam Hayward's going to the Hall of Fame.
12:00He's been there before.
12:01Aaron Rodgers is going to the Hall of Fame.
12:03And by the way, he's been one of the king trash talkers in his career and has owned a
12:07football team before.
12:08You remember that against the Bears while he was with the Packers and scoring touchdowns
12:12and talking right to the fans.
12:13Like, that's a guy who's had the game right in his own hands.
12:15Like, I hope they learned a lesson yesterday.
12:17I really do.
12:18We can be all excited all we want during the week that leads up to it, but you better back
12:22it up on Sunday.
12:23And they didn't yesterday.
12:24And they went out and they got embarrassed.
12:26And so it's up to them to answer to that.
12:27Because next Sunday is another opportunity.
12:30I don't believe the season is over because that's asinine.
12:33I don't believe that they're a more bun franchise because it's asinine.
12:36Because they're still five and three, and you go down to New Orleans next week and you
12:40have a chance to win.
12:40But I'm telling you right now, if you let this thing turn into a trend, then you have
12:44bigger problems than what we even thought.
12:47Because already, and I can't believe we've held it up this long, you know whose audio
12:52we're going to play.
12:53And I didn't like that he just kept saying we in that audio that he was talking about
12:57in the postgame.
12:58Because it was you who shot your mouth off.
13:01It's you who people are saying that they regret the trade with.
13:04It's you who they wonder if they even need to pick up the fifth-year option.
13:07And all those things are said out of anger because of what you said.
13:11Because ultimately, when it comes down to it, you were a former first-round pick.
13:15You have said what you said.
13:16You have been a talented player.
13:18And they're going to pick up the fifth-year option.
13:19And more than likely, they're going to pay you.
13:21And that's how this is going to go.
13:22But when I got people, when I wake up in the morning sending me tweets calling him the
13:26Juan Thornhill of defensive ends, you better find a way to pick it up, buddy.
13:32You better find a way.
13:34Is this not as quick buyer's remorse from a fan base as you have seen for a player like this?
13:43For somebody who everybody around the league said was good.
13:45No, Juan Thornhill was quicker.
13:47Said the Browns had, yeah, but the stakes were higher here, right?
13:50Does it count the first game with Washington and Deshaun Watson?
13:54Because that was still an 11-week lead-up to that where that wasn't quick.
13:59So I guess I can't count that.
14:01Yes, Owen?
14:01Well, Juan Thornhill was a free agent signing that half the people admitted they didn't
14:06know, especially one of our hosts, didn't know who he was when he came in.
14:11Jared Verse came in and everyone tried to tell you, oh, they got the steal.
14:15They actually got the better player.
14:16They got the better leader.
14:17They got the better, you know, he's younger.
14:19He's going to do bigger things in the leagues.
14:21And technically, he has played more games than Myles Garrett this year.
14:24I got to hear from him next.
14:26Because I just don't like the Wii stuff when it was you who said it.
14:30216-474-0092.
14:32He wrote that check.
14:34And it bounced big time yesterday afternoon in front of God and everybody.
