00:00I had what alcoholics refer to as a moment of clarity.
00:04You watch it and you're super into it. It's like really exciting. The storyline's good.
00:07And then you finish it and I'm looking at the film and I'm just like, I was watching it.
00:10Stop calling them films, Mike.
00:12I mean, that is gross and those people are getting paid.
00:14Ugh, I've never felt like that intro was more accurate than it is today.
00:21Well, I mean, there have been a couple games that were pretty bad.
00:23Let's talk about it here on Post.Clarity here on 105 Feed the Fan.
00:26Jerry Jones coming up here in an hour and 10 minutes when Sean's loading them up right now.
00:31He's getting them ready.
00:32Got pressured. I got pressured by the people.
00:35I finally man up.
00:37Show some stones.
00:38I had to concentrate extra hard.
00:41Come on, on election day, no less.
00:44Then you got to bring accountability and bring those measures to it.
00:48I can't wait to watch election coverage today.
00:50I can't wait.
00:51Just go home.
00:52Newsradio 1080 KRLD.
00:53I'm just going to have it on and we'll be discussing it tonight at about 7 o'clock.
00:57Yeah, I don't know how much I'm actually going to follow along with it.
01:01You'll see me.
01:02I'll be here first thing in the morning.
01:05I probably won't sleep.
01:06Yeah, you're very...
01:07Really?
01:09What's homeboy's name who likes to change the map on CNN?
01:12Trump?
01:12John King.
01:13John King, yeah.
01:14Oh, John King.
01:15He's a beast.
01:15Trump just likes to correct it.
01:17The way it should have been.
01:19So, anyway, you can follow along with that tonight.
01:22It was a very bad match.
01:23I would rather watch that than what the Cowboys did on Sunday.
01:26This was...
01:26You know how we're like...
01:28It didn't even feel like you were dominating them necessarily before...
01:33Like you were on the scoreboard in terms of the margin was two touchdowns.
01:35But it didn't feel like, oh my gosh, you're just beating this team down and all of a sudden
01:38they flipped.
01:40They were...
01:40Even that 17-3, it was just gross.
01:43Everything was a struggle offensively.
01:45Everything was a struggle for the passing game.
01:47So, it's...
01:48We'll start with the passing or with the offensive side of the ball.
01:52I don't know what's happened exactly to the way that they...
01:58Like, it looks like they went into the offseason and after they got a chance to...
02:01Because they talked about at the end of last year, Clayton Adams, how excited he was to
02:04get a whole offseason to figure out how to use Pickens and Lamb together and how excited
02:08the offensive staff was for that.
02:10But it was...
02:12It's less...
02:14Less dynamic and less creative than it was last year with the passing game.
02:18Like, it really is like...
02:20There was a...
02:20John Owning was tweeting about a lot of this yesterday.
02:22In fact, I've got to pull up and see what the numbers exactly are.
02:24For those keeping track at home, the Cowboys rank in terms of frequency.
02:2832nd in motion at the snap rate.
02:3130th in any kind of motion rate.
02:3332nd in bunch rate.
02:3531st in rate of plays that use bunch or stack alignments with its receivers.
02:41Yeah.
02:41And they had been...
02:42They weren't at the very top of the league last year, but they were like middle of the
02:45pack in the motion stuff.
02:48Now, Schottenheimer's excuse for that has been, we're not going to motion and take up more
02:53clock when we're down so much.
02:54Did you see the same stagnant stuff while they were up?
02:58Yes.
02:59All year.
03:00And it's just...
03:01It's becoming more apparent.
03:02Like, the more teams are going to just cover for you and say...
03:05But why?
03:06I don't.
03:07Because they think...
03:07Is it just not evolving?
03:09It like didn't put in the extra work to address up the playbook more?
03:13This team...
03:14You know how you have like one...
03:16That was a bad year.
03:17New Year's Eve comes around, you're like, that was a bad year.
03:19I just hope the next one...
03:21Let's move on to the next year.
03:22Let's pretend.
03:23Like when my dad died on New Year's Eve.
03:24This year...
03:25Sorry about that.
03:27Man, that ruined two years.
03:28This?
03:29Yeah, it did.
03:29The night and the next morning.
03:31Yes, it did.
03:31This team is having like multiple performances.
03:34Like, Dak is going through this run right now.
03:36I'm not saying for the whole year.
03:37This team is like having multiple of those...
03:40Oh my God, this is a horrific season and year for me.
03:44It makes me like wondering about people's personal lives because of how nonsensical it is.
03:49Yeah, I don't know if it's just they don't want to...
03:53It looks almost like that they want to be able to devote resources to be able to run the
03:59ball as effectively as possible because they think that their guys outside can just win.
04:03Like, that they think their guys can just take these matchups and they can win them.
04:06And yeah, it is very...
04:08And oh man.
04:08It is very much becoming like the Garrett offense.
04:11And it's different than it was last year.
04:13Last year, they did do some different things like creatively to try and move things around.
04:17And there was all that talk about, well, we're going to put Pickens in the slot and we're
04:19going to move them around a lot.
04:19And they haven't done any of that.
04:21But no, this was...
04:23Do they not think he can handle it?
04:26No, I think early on in the season, it was more about...
04:30Who would have thought the Dallas Cowboys would be too dysfunctional for George Pickens?
04:34We got George and now George has to be like, um, nah, nah, nah, get me up out of here.
04:40Yeah.
04:41I mean, I would still say Pickens is more dysfunctional generally or equally.
04:45Like, I mean, he's still a risk.
04:48Um, but no, I think early on, it was Lamb was killing.
04:53And so they're like, Lamb was in the slot.
04:54They didn't want to do a whole lot to like mess with.
04:56He was slot outside.
04:58He was doing a lot of different things across the line of scrimmage.
04:59And so I think they were just looking at it and thinking, why, why take away from what
05:03Lamb's doing right now?
05:04Just in the name of feeding somebody's ego.
05:07Cause Lamb is getting us first downs.
05:09Like it's reliable chain moving.
05:11Fastest George ran in seven games off the field.
05:14And sorry, Pickens.
05:15And Steven was asked yesterday on KNC, if George Pickens is upset with his usage.
05:21No, I don't think so.
05:22I mean, George has some things health wise, uh, you know, that he's communicating with
05:26the offensive staff on when, uh, you know, he's had, uh, some different things, uh, you
05:32know, with his hamstring and some other things that tighten up on him during the game.
05:36And it wasn't necessarily that, uh, we were pulling him out of the game.
05:40They are lucky that George Pickens is on his best David Mooligeta behavior.
05:48They are lucky because right about now we would have gotten, I think some Pittsburgh GP.
05:55And for the record, real quick, I have zero problem with George Pickens running off the
06:00field like that.
06:01Zero problem.
06:02I do not care whatsoever.
06:04He did not run off the field when the game was happening.
06:06I don't give a, I don't give a crap for all the pleasantries and exchange a jersey and
06:11all the high five.
06:12I don't view it like little league.
06:14I don't view it like hockey lining up.
06:15I do not care at all.
06:17In fact, I kind of like it that George Pickens sprinted off the field.
06:20I just had to get that out.
06:21I don't care.
06:22I just want to know, was he unhappy with the loss or his role?
06:26Yeah.
06:27That's it.
06:28That's all.
06:28That's all I care about.
06:29I don't care that he ran off the field.
06:30This handshake and stuff, stupid anyways for kids.
06:34Last year, George Pickens was 93 receptions for 1,429 yards.
06:40What do you think he's on pace for this year?
06:41Say it again.
06:4290.
06:43Every time you write left-handed, it throws me off.
06:45That's how I was right.
06:46Like, Bob is a lefty?
06:47Yeah, it's my mom's fault.
06:48And she's dead now.
06:4993 receptions.
06:51You and Michael Irvin.
06:52Yep.
06:5393 receptions, 1429 yards.
06:57He's on pace for 81 catches.
07:02Oh!
07:06And 980.
07:08What do you got?
07:12I know that the target rate was higher than what I thought when we were complaining about
07:17the usage.
07:18I'll say 75 and 1,000.
07:2683 and 1140.
07:28So, I mean, he's on pace.
07:29That's Pro Bowl season to a lot of people.
07:3110 less catches.
07:31The touchdowns are way less.
07:33The touchdowns are...
07:34Yeah, but 10 less catches, you got to remember, too.
07:35Like, Lamb...
07:36No, I'm saying 10 less catches.
07:37I would have expected it to be a much larger gap.
07:40And Lamb, last year when he was out, that's when Pickens put up, like, a bunch of his
07:45100-yard...
07:45Like, he put up, like, I think half his 100-yard games in those games where Lamb was out, and
07:49he got a bunch of catches.
07:50So, some of that also could just be, this is the vol...
07:52Like, this is the natural volume they always planned when Lamb was in.
07:55There was that Lamb's 1, and then this is a 1B sort of thing.
07:58So, do you think his usage topic is overblown based on those numbers?
08:02The usage is overblown the way he's...
08:06So, his average depth of target is way down.
08:09Like, he's historically been throughout his career.
08:12Yards per catch, 15-4, 18-1, 15-3, 15-4.
08:15This year, it's 13-7.
08:17His yards per target is down 2 yards per target this year.
08:20So, that's...
08:22That needs to change.
08:23There's just...
08:23They're not trusting nearly as much, or they're not going to nearly as much, just the YOLO
08:28ball down the field with him.
08:29And that was one of the things I wrote down as a note.
08:31Dak needs to start checking into more of the one-on-one looks.
08:34There are some of these instances, and I know there are issues with...
08:39Efforts sometimes, or engagement with Pickens.
08:42But, I mean, there were some looks in this game where it's like, you can check into that.
08:47Like, that's one-on-one outside.
08:49Like, go ahead and go to that.
08:50And they were committed to running the ball and ramming their head against a wall.
08:54And so, I'd like to see more of checking into those things.
08:58I don't know.
08:59There may be something that's a little...
09:01Maybe some of the post-snap stuff right now has just got him frazzled.
09:05Because John O'Neill talked about it yesterday, too.
09:08The RPO stuff.
09:10Where he's like, if the edge is going to crash on some of these runs, like these RPO looks,
09:16he needs to pull the ball and run sometimes.
09:18Because if you're not going to do it, it's a waste of a play.
09:22I had a star up for his legs.
09:23Well, and it was scrambling.
09:25It was having to get away from the pressure.
09:26But if he would just pull some of those, he could probably get eight yards or something
09:30like that just by how open it is.
09:31But I do think Dak needs to check into more of the vertical concepts when he gets those
09:37looks.
09:38But they are very committed and determined to run the ball right now.
09:41Offense was dead on Sunday in large part in the second half just because the offensive line
09:45was awful.
09:46Well, they're bipolar.
09:47They were getting just absolutely bipolar.
09:50How?
09:51How does CeeDee have talked about this where he's like, Arizona always comes in here and
09:54they're more...
09:54Now, CeeDee had said like, hey, we're focused.
09:56We're locked in.
09:57But he said every game they play against them, they always come in here and they end up punching
10:01us in the mouth and are more physical.
10:02And they did it again, even with the expectation.
10:04Now, it took about a half to get going.
10:08But man, they just...
10:09Was it Tyler Smith?
10:11No, and nobody played well.
10:13Nobody on the offensive line played that well.
10:14I mean, Booker had some moments.
10:16Tyler Smith had some moments that were good.
10:17But I mean, overall, everybody was below average, I think.
10:20And this is their number one word of the week.
10:22I think you're going to hear with Jerry at 830.
10:26Consistency.
10:26That's what Schottenheimer kept preaching yesterday.
10:29What do you have to do better?
10:30We have to be more consistent.
10:31It's consistency.
10:32It's consistency.
10:33It's closing.
10:33Blah, blah, blah.
10:34But that's the first thing I think of is this offensive line.
10:37Well, currently, I mean, recently Dak as well over this three-game stretch.
10:41But no way you could have convinced me that they threw around Philadelphia.
10:46I don't know if they have their problems or whatever.
10:48They still got two big guys up front, and that was impressive.
10:50That was the game of the year for them up front.
10:52And then you have these moments like Carolina last year.
10:57Arizona.
10:59It's bipolar.
11:00Everybody's back, too.
11:01Like, the offensive line's healthy now.
11:03Like, everybody's supposed to be there.
11:05It's the one thing I can think is it's what brought us suggested in the press box on Sunday,
11:12which is just short week and just physically draining against Philly.
11:17Maybe there was just some fatigue or something.
11:19I mean, fatigue can be a real thing.
11:20It can be.
11:21I'm saying it's not a fun thing to accept, but, like, it is a short week.
11:24It was a Monday.
11:25It was a short travel week.
11:27And, again, they need to go out there and play regardless because it's effing Arizona,
11:31and they're not good enough.
11:32And we have plenty of examples this year.
11:34I mean, like, the teams on short week have a terrible record this season.
11:39Terrible.
11:40But when you're up two scores, bad teams will let things like that set in.
11:46And they're a bad team.
11:48So Dallas is bad right now.
11:49Well, then someone on the sideline or Javante himself should be like,
11:55even if he's not going to admit that he's gassed or worn down,
11:57someone on the damn sideline should see it and say,
12:00hey, Tyler Goodson, you go ahead, and you're going to get some more carries.
12:04Tyler Goodson can get more than seven carries then,
12:07and Javante can get less than 24 if this is the case.
12:11You have backups.
12:12And the running back position is one of those where it's usually plug and play.
12:15Who's got the most juice in their legs?
12:17Put them out there.
12:18If this wear and tear is there in week eight.
12:23Well, and it's one of those things where, I mean,
12:25they were not blocking things up well regardless.
12:27Like, it wasn't in the run game.
12:28It wasn't.
12:29How many times did they call different run plays,
12:31like in terms of outside versus straight up the gut?
12:34As we're all talking about running into a wall,
12:36ramming your head into a wall.
12:38I mean, they generally are more of a, like,
12:41between the tackles type of team.
12:43Um, and then it makes sense because Booker and Smith are so physically dominant.
12:50We had a debate last week about when to abandon,
12:53and you were earlier than us.
12:55Um, when did it become apparent in your head re-watching this?
13:00Like, all right, this run game, it's not, it's not happening.
13:04Third or fourth drive.
13:05Like, where it's just like they're not, they're, they,
13:07I think they had one run in the first three drives that I was like,
13:10okay, there's, there's a little something there.
13:12But Javante looked, that fourth down run,
13:15and the one I think was one right before that,
13:16Javante just looked slow getting the ball.
13:18Like, he looked like he was, like, sucking air immediately,
13:22right as soon as the game started.
13:24Was this game played at altitude?
13:25Because Algier had the same problem.
13:26It was not.
13:27Did they move it up there?
13:27It was not.
13:28Uh, all right, uh, defensive side of the ball here in post-hut clarity.
13:31Uh, I think the linebackers were bad.
13:33Um, I, I think Overshown got worked over in coverage a little bit.
13:37They had a couple different issues with Durant.
13:40Um, Durant's fresh off an injury.
13:41He's been good every game he's played this year.
13:43I'm, it's not great.
13:45Um, yeah, he's been good every game we played this year.
13:47This one, he was a little bit more susceptible.
13:49Just allowed a little bit more open separation in the fourth quarter
13:53and was allowing some of these throws to get through.
13:55It was, I think, a, a rough game for Overshown Gary for the most part.
14:01Uh, Kenny Clark did not look good.
14:03Kenny Clark was having some, he had a couple of plays.
14:05Kenny Clark was just completely inconsistent.
14:06There were plays in this game where I looked and went,
14:08oh, Kenny's in there and he's, he's being disrupted.
14:10And then there were other times Kenny Clark was just getting blown off the ball.
14:12Brian Schottenheimer was asked, you talk about accountability.
14:15What was the accountability for Rashawn Gary after the awful, awful penalty?
14:21And Schottenheimer yesterday said, uh, and I think it was Archer who said he played 11 of 19 snaps after
14:28the penalty.
14:28Todd said he was, he was pulled.
14:30He was taken off the field and yesterday we spoke with him.
14:35So that was the ramifications and the talking to with Rashawn after the, uh, would have been, should have been
14:41fourth and 10.
14:42They got wiped out.
14:42Yeah.
14:43And, uh, he plays like a rookie.
14:45He's just a big mass of rookie.
14:48That's what he is.
14:48He's a very, and in some ways it's, it's a good thing.
14:52I'm sure.
14:52And something that they like, he is a very emotional football player.
14:57Like, and I, I think it's probably easy for him to get rattled in a game.
15:03I mean, I don't want to say too much.
15:04Like that makes it sound like he's just completely unable to do anything there.
15:09But, uh, that's, that's interesting that he said he was pulled off the field.
15:14Yeah.
15:15Uh, taken off the field.
15:16Yeah.
15:16Because I think he was literally just taken off the field for the next play, which was the touchdown.
15:22And then he was right back out there at the start of the next drive.
15:25Yeah.
15:25So that's not really a punishment.
15:26Well, that counts as technically, uh, taken off.
15:27Yeah.
15:28I mean, like, you okay, buddy?
15:29Did you hurt yourself a little bit there by, by smashing the quarterback?
15:32No, you still do need a job in the game.
15:33Uh, Joey Porter was better than I thought he was.
15:35Uh, and I think that was when the game was lost.
15:38It was when Joey Porter left the field.
15:39Uh, when he was on, when he went off the field, they, they were getting worked.
15:42And it does change so much, like, what other people are doing.
15:46It's, it's this domino effect and this trickle-down effect that absolutely ruins them.
15:49I would pay Joey Porter at this point.
15:51Like, like, that to me is okay.
15:52I've seen enough.
15:52You do change the defense enough for me to say I'm paying him.
15:55Jesse Holley, rant of the week.
15:57DallasCowboys.com with a message to Joey Porter and the Cowboys.
16:03Either play him a whole game or get him off the field to rest and recover.
16:08Stop with the, uh, eh, one foot in, off, I don't know, because it's affecting your game
16:15plan as they should build it around Joey Porter.
16:19But Jesse's like, if he can't give you a full game, don't play him and give him the week
16:24off to come back versus what has been happening and what happened on Sunday.
16:29And I like that.
16:30These are his snap percentages so far this year.
16:32Houston, 45%, Green Bay, 48%, Philadelphia, 77%, Arizona, 44%.
16:38So, I mean, you're talking about less than 50% in three of the games.
16:41One of them you understand.
16:42Houston, fresh, he's walking in.
16:44It's right off the bat.
16:46Okay, fine.
16:47Go ahead and do that.
16:49He obviously got banged up in this one, I guess, is the problem there.
16:53But, I mean, I would still say that even against Philadelphia, I'd like him out there more
16:57than 77%.
16:58Green Bay, he should be out there more than 48% of the time.
17:00But getting banged up, nicked up a little bit, that slowed him down.
17:04But I do think that if they can keep him healthy, if they can keep him straight, he is a
17:09difference
17:09maker.
17:09He has proven to be a really, really good cornerback.
17:12Steven Jones yesterday was on with the KNC Masterpiece.
17:15He was not in a good mood.
17:17Said it was the toughest loss of the year.
17:21They struggled with pressure.
17:24Again, Cardinals, good defense.
17:25They have a good defense.
17:28Kevin's eyes during these interviews are really funny, as I'm sitting there watching it back
17:31on YouTube and the fan cam and watching Hagelin.
17:34I'm sure it's like us sometimes when Jerry drops something and we're looking at each other.
17:38I think Steven said hats off to Schottenheimer for sticking with the run.
17:43And then they asked him, is part of the reason you're not going to fire anyone is because you
17:48don't have others on the staff to replace them?
17:50You know, I think a lot of teams look at it that way.
17:53I mean, I know we made the change with Wade the one year because we did have our Alan Jason
17:59who was on the staff and really thought that he was going to, might be our next head coach.
18:05So it made a lot of sense.
18:08But, you know, I know obviously we hadn't played well, but there's still a lot of football to
18:14be played.
18:15We're in a division that's struggling to some degree and, you know, we still have nine games
18:21left and or certainly feel like, you know, there's signs that we can do some things really
18:29well at times.
18:30And if we can just get consistency and during the game and finish, then good things can happen
18:38for this team.
18:39But I know we've got a lot of work.
18:40We're certainly not living in a fantasy world that's thinking if we, you know, we're just
18:45unlucky right now.
18:47We've got to play better.
18:48We've got to play better in all three phases.
18:50And, but at the same time, I think we can do that.
18:54All city had, and you know, Jesse Holley's head coach conspiracy theories.
18:59I mean, his show had copied mine.
19:01His show.
19:02Oh, you came up with that first about Jason Garrett, different playbook at the time it was
19:06while it was happening.
19:07I mean, he was there in the, I know, but he was on the radio.
19:10I was, he was there to see, uh, anyway, his show came up with a conspiracy theory.
19:18Like you think Brian Schottenheimer purposely had zero promotional candidates on his staff
19:26because now you can't sit here and make a real move for the change.
19:32Um, there's, and I'm not a conspiracy theory.
19:34Yeah.
19:35Well, see that, that, that's fair.
19:37That is, that is a hundred percent something that happens.
19:41Yeah.
19:41It happened here two years ago.
19:44Mike McCarthy did not want Mike Zimmer here.
19:46Mike McCarthy never wanted that hire.
19:48And Mike McCarthy felt like that's an easy replacement.
19:50If they get tired of me in the middle of the year, I don't, uh, discount that one bit.
19:55But I also think, cause you've hurt yourself now with help and coaching, but you kind of
20:03can't go anywhere.
20:04And it goes either way.
20:05If there's any struggles.
20:06So like, for instance, if they were struggling and they had a former head coach, like for instance,
20:10when Iberflus was the coordinator last year, then the criticism is bunch of retreads.
20:14You guys wouldn't take any chances on new ideas.
20:16You wouldn't do anything.
20:17And so like, it'll cut either way, depending on if you lose, like if it's going poorly.
20:21Who's the interim head coach of Florida state?
20:23Mike Norville just got fired.
20:24Who's the interim head coach?
20:26Bobby Bowden.
20:27Yeah.
20:27It doesn't matter.
20:29It doesn't matter.
20:31When you fire your head coach, you are giving up on the season.
20:34You're not firing the head coach to go on this unbelievable Steve Fisher run.
20:41Look it up.
20:42Steven.
20:42I don't know who that is.
20:44Michigan.
20:45Yeah.
20:45There you go.
20:46You're not firing for the world.
20:47There we go.
20:48Sure.
20:49And then Steven ended the interview a little snippy as Kevin Hagelin asked, what happens
20:55if you lose to Indy?
20:57The last thing I've got for you today, I know you've talked about talent acquisition 24-7,
21:01365, and you wouldn't want to look at it like this, but would you see a scenario in which
21:08the Colts are falling apart?
21:09If that ended up being a loss, would you have to look at those next two days before the trade
21:15deadline and think maybe we need to unload some stuff?
21:18Guys, we're looking at getting better this week, and we've got a big game against the
21:22Colts, and that's what we're focused on.
21:25Jerry Jones at 830 this morning.
21:29KNCS, what can you guys be doing better in the front office?
21:33He's like, the defensive coordinator turnover, a problem.
21:37Not good, and how much will that weigh into doing something now or after the season?
21:43You're going to do this five out of six, whatever the number is?
21:46He's going to get some leeway, I think, Parker is, because they can't keep swapping people.
21:51It's too much.
21:52Please, and thank God for joining us.
