00:03It's time for NFL overreaction or reality, and we start with this.
00:09Overreaction or reality.
00:11The Dallas Cowboys season is O-V-E-R over.
00:18Well, Kevin, I mean, you see, I do have these screws that I can now put into this table.
00:23Your table is irreplaceably broken.
00:26No, no.
00:28So, I am just missing one entire leg of the table.
00:32Okay.
00:32All right, so now it's a three-legged table.
00:34That missing leg is Malachi Lawrence because Shadi said,
00:38yeah, it looks like it's going to be a few weeks.
00:41That stinks.
00:44But, you know, whenever you are relying on a rookie to cover that much ground,
00:49I know it's a first-round pick, but even still, like,
00:51you're saying that's the best option is the rookie
00:54because we don't have anybody else that can do the job as well.
00:59Pretty much.
01:00It's problematic.
01:01But that's, you know, that's the salary cap.
01:04It makes that if you had never created a salary cap.
01:07Other teams seem to be okay.
01:08Um, so, I don't think it's over just because anything could happen, dude.
01:17Alec, you probably know my thoughts on this.
01:19This is a big, fat reality, but let's go to you.
01:23Overreaction to reality.
01:24The Dallas Cowboys season is O-V-E-R over.
01:28What are you doing, Kevin?
01:30What are you doing?
01:31You know it's a big, fat overreaction because you know exactly what's going to happen.
01:38The trade deadline is looming.
01:40You're going to add a pass rusher.
01:43It's going to be one of three or four guys that we've talked about at length already.
01:49Max Crosby, Josh Sweat.
01:51If they're comfortable with trading for an injured Yaya Diaby,
01:55they're a player, heck, they could go outside linebacker Alex Highsmith.
02:00Let's make our fourth deal with the Steelers in what, like a year?
02:03Let's go ahead and do that.
02:05That's going to happen.
02:06You're going to go on a little streak, and you're going to stumble into the playoffs
02:11just like the Astros did in the AL West.
02:14I just, I read part of this text from the 9-5-1, all this talk about Rex and Tomlin.
02:20And if you mean Rex Ryan, the idea that any team would hire him to do anything is laughable to
02:27me.
02:27He is terrible at coaching defense.
02:31Terrible.
02:32Earned a reputation, coasted off of that for, I don't know, like 15 years.
02:36He sucks at coaching defense and would do nothing for this team.
02:41He gives a great speech every couple months on ESPN.
02:45Oh, great.
02:45Wait, we already have a coach who can give great speeches but not get the job done.
02:55NFL overreaction or reality?
02:57This comes with some information.
02:59Did you know that the Chicago Bears are the first team in NFL history
03:02to beat both of the previous year's Super Bowl participants in back-to-back games in prime time?
03:10Overreaction or reality, the Chicago Bears are the best team in the NFC?
03:20Um, yes.
03:23I think, I mean, I still think San Francisco has their hat in the ring.
03:28I hear you.
03:29But, I think the Bears have a coach that is obsessed with winning.
03:39And, I think Shanahan, like, really wants to win and is very good and very smart.
03:44But, right now, you have a head coach in Ben Johnson that is maniacally obsessed with this.
03:53Like, in a, it's not healthy, but whenever he does win, everybody goes,
03:57well, I guess that's how you have to be.
03:59Right.
03:59So, that's, like, this is Michael Jordan level, I have to create stupid things in my mind.
04:05Yes.
04:06So, I can defeat you because tonight's too easy for me.
04:09And, I would probably lay off.
04:11But, he, like, look how prepared he had his team for last night's game.
04:16That's the one that, like, that, and I know Seattle's not, it's an imperfect team.
04:20Sure.
04:21In a lot of different ways.
04:22But, he has a really good defensive, like, a really good defensive coordinator.
04:25And, they just put the boots to the Chiefs?
04:27Yeah, dude.
04:28So, like, this, like, I think that, and they have a quarterback right now that looks like
04:33he's just as obsessed as his head coach.
04:36So.
04:36I, that's a great point.
04:39Alec, NFL overreaction to reality.
04:41The Chicago Bears are the best team in the NFC.
04:46Reality, because I really thought that Seattle was going to take that crown again.
04:50I, I don't know if it was specifically the Quentin Nelson trade.
04:54I don't think it was.
04:55I didn't, it's a good move.
04:56It's not earth-shattering.
04:58I, I thought the running back room getting healthy to try to take some of the responsibility
05:03away from Sam Darnold because he is looking like Sam Darnold again.
05:08I thought that was going to help getting Jadarian Price and Zach Charbonnet back out there.
05:14I thought that was going to be a big deal.
05:15And then Chicago said, hold my beer, times 10.
05:18Yeah.
05:19They look like they have pretty much no weakness right now.
05:23The secondary, it's week to week with them.
05:27That's the one thing I can nitpick.
05:29They make the huge trade for Jeffrey Simmons, and he immediately wrecks the game.
05:33So he had six tackles, one sack, two tackles for loss, and he drew a lot of attention as
05:41well to allow other Bears to pivot and get home on Sam Darnold.
05:45Did you hear what he said last night, too, after the game about he, he was in the dad
05:49gum facility trying to get the playbook down all night until at least 10 o'clock?
05:55Like, he got there immediately and was like, I got work to do.
05:58I mean.
05:58As obsessed as his head coach.
05:59He was given the gift of going from one of the worst NFL teams to one of the best NFL
06:05teams.
06:05Yeah.
06:07NFL overreaction or reality.
06:10Jonathan Taylor will be traded by the deadline.
06:13So the NFL trade deadline is in a week.
06:16It is at 3 p.m. central.
06:19So overreaction or reality.
06:20Jonathan Taylor will be traded by the deadline.
06:25In my fantasy league, I hope.
06:27I really need that running back.
06:29If he's not traded, I don't know if he's a good fantasy running back for the rest of
06:33the year.
06:34Do you think he's just going to be like...
06:35Not him, but the offensive line's not as good without Quentin Nelson.
06:41Right.
06:41Sure.
06:42And maybe that's the case.
06:43But I think so.
06:48I think he's worth a first.
06:51Okay.
06:51If I'm a team that is like, I'm that-a-way.
06:55If you're Bengals, Vikings.
06:57Yeah, but there aren't enough teams that are going to be willing to do that.
07:02So I think he is, but I don't think they're going to get the price they really want for
07:06him.
07:06Yeah.
07:07And that's the tough thing, right?
07:08Because if it's a team that's going to trade for him, you're going to be hesitant to take
07:12the second because they're probably really good.
07:15And that's going to be end of the second round.
07:18All right, Alec, we go to you.
07:21Overreaction or reality?
07:23Jonathan Taylor will be traded by the deadline.
07:27It's a great time to remind you that trade deadline talk on 105 Through the Fan is brought
07:31to you by the hands-free sketcher slip-ins.
07:34Just step in and go.
07:36I say reality because when there's smoke, there's a fire somewhere and there is a fire sale going
07:43on in Indianapolis.
07:45I think it happens because it doesn't make any sense.
07:48And I feel like that's the type of organization that likes to do right by the player and say,
07:53hey, this is going nowhere.
07:55We're sorry that you signed this contract.
07:58We're going to let you live it out with somebody that you could have a couple shots at winning
08:01with.
08:02I think there's a lot of teams in the NFC that make a ton of sense for him.
08:06And there was some whispers over the weekend about maybe a multiple player trade involving
08:11him.
08:12So it could get real weird real quick.
08:14And I think he does go somewhere.
08:16NFL overreaction or reality?
08:19Sunday was the worst loss of the season for the Cowboys.
08:25And is the prime competitor Tampa?
08:30Yeah, because Tampa set up what Green Bay did to you.
08:35And then Green Bay did to you what Arizona should have done to you.
08:39But Arizona then did something different to you.
08:42They put you in a different position.
08:45Yep.
08:46I'm going to say that one's the worst one.
08:48And I only think losing to the Colts will be worse than that.
08:52And just for the record, I want to say this.
08:54Whenever we talk about there's a lot of season left, you're going into week nine.
08:58The Cowboys have one win over a team that had a win at the time.
09:04One.
09:06Alec?
09:07Until you get another one.
09:09Sure.
09:10Then you'll have two.
09:11Yep.
09:12That'll be neat.
09:13Then you get another one.
09:14I don't know about that.
09:14Just stack them up.
09:16They just won't be in succession because Shotties teams don't do that.
09:18The table's complete, Kevin.
09:20Stop it.
09:21You can't fix your busted ass table.
09:24Alec, overreaction or reality?
09:26This is the worst loss of the season for the Dallas Cowboys.
09:29You know what's some really good broadcasting that I hate that you do?
09:33Is when Corey gives his response and then you follow up with another damning fact.
09:38And then you're like, okay, now what's your thought?
09:41And I'm like, I already had a strong opinion.
09:43Now I just hate the question.
09:45Yeah, it's an absolute reality.
09:47I'm with Corey.
09:48Corey, we could fast forward a week and it could be even worse.
09:53But that was just, it was so deflating.
09:56I think that's the word I keep associating with it.
09:58Because not only did you have a lead, it felt like you established dominance at the beginning of the game
10:04too.
10:05Not just in terms of the score.
10:07It felt like you had a chokehold on that game.
10:10The number three overall draft pick was bottled up and removed from the game.
10:15You know, obviously not by design, but still.
10:18But even when he was fine, he was, you're right.
10:21They were stuffing him.
10:23So, yeah, that one's bad.
10:25And it's not going to get any worse in my mind.
10:28All right.
10:28So I went through a couple of variations of this prompt.
10:32This is what I'm going to start with and we'll go from there.
10:35Overreaction to reality, Lamar Jackson is done being elite for the Ravens.
10:42Man, I saw a line that said,
10:47Lamar Jackson is absolutely one of the best quarterbacks that I would never want on my team.
10:53Oh, man, that feels hurtful.
10:56But I get it.
10:57The injuries are a problem.
11:01Or I would be perfectly fine with my team staying away from him.
11:08I think so.
11:10Yeah, reality.
11:11Because Jesse Minter doesn't need him.
11:14Jesse Minter could probably definitely use a season where they get a better draft pick
11:21and move on and rebuild from there.
11:23Will he ever play for the Ravens again?
11:25Not this season.
11:27Is his contract up this year?
11:28So he has one more year in the contract.
11:30However, the guaranteed money has all been accelerated into this season.
11:35The no.
11:36And here's why.
11:37Because if you went ahead and moved on, your dead cap space is good, right?
11:41You'd still take a hit.
11:43It's not as significant.
11:44Yeah, I need to look into what that number is.
11:46But even still, then you can boot next year.
11:48You punt on that.
11:50And start your refresh process.
11:53And you don't have to deal with a guy that's probably going to have you in a worse, if
11:57he's healthy for a full season, have you in a worse situation for draft.
12:02That is fair.
12:03All right, Alec.
12:04We'll start with the elite one.
12:06Overreaction or reality?
12:08Lamar Jackson is done being elite for the Ravens.
12:12It's such an interesting question because I don't think he's done being elite, but I think
12:17he might be for the Ravens.
12:19And that is why I structured it that way.
12:21I could see him going somewhere else and still being good, but the Ravens saying, cool, we
12:27don't want an injured quarterback.
12:29So you have to pick right now.
12:30Will he play again for the Ravens?
12:32No, because they were already weird with his first contract situation.
12:36I think they're going to be just as weird with this one and say, I mean, we already moved
12:41the money for a reason.
12:42We can just punt.
12:44That second part is definitely true.
12:46All right.
12:47Overreaction or reality?
12:49This one's a bit odd.
12:50Mac Jones would be a better starting quarterback for the Vikings than Kyler Murray.
12:55And I know you're thinking, Mac Jones is not on the Vikings.
12:58And that's a fair point that you make.
13:00But the prompt remains what it is.
13:05Overreaction.
13:06I don't think either one of them would be good, but it would be slight no.
13:12I'll say Kyler Murray's still, again, I think the coach is playing to his defense in most
13:17of these instances and saying, we're going to do everything we can to let our defense
13:21win this.
13:22The Lions happen to know that team well and were able to win.
13:27And listening to Jared Goff before that game, I was like, oh, Jared Goff has got this figured
13:31out.
13:32He knew it was going to be a pain in the butt to win that game.
13:35And it was.
13:36But no, I still think go with Kyler.
13:38You don't have any good options anyway.
13:40I like the defeat.
13:41Trade for Dak.
13:42In your voice.
13:44Yeah.
13:45Overreaction or reality to you, Alec.
13:47I feel like you do this where you sit there with these and you're like, what's going to
13:51defeat Corey the most to try and answer this question?
13:54Well, clearly Alec thinks I do the same thing to him.
13:56Fine.
13:56I'll throw you a bonus question.
13:58Rick bonus.
13:59Vikings say we'll give you our first and second next year for Dak.
14:05Handshake it right now.
14:06Agreed.
14:08Alec.
14:09And again, I know people will be like, oh, like this is Dak's fault.
14:13I'm not saying it's Dak's fault, but it's clear one way or another, this team doesn't
14:18work.
14:18So why not just jumpstart your rebuild and give them off to a team that has an infinitely
14:25better defense?
14:26Because G-Bag was discussing yesterday.
14:27I mean, at this point, you've changed all the coaches out.
14:30Yeah.
14:31What point is it the quarterback?
14:33And I, by the way, I do not think Dak is blameless, but he would not be at the top
14:38of my list either.
14:39All right, Alec, we go to you.
14:41Overreaction reality.
14:42Mack Jones would be a better starting quarterback for the Vikings than Kyler Murray.
14:47Reality for the simple fact that Kevin O'Connell runs a pass first offense.
14:54Kyler Murray is not a pass first quarterback.
14:57That is true.
14:57Even after the major injury, he's still not a, let me take a three-step drop, survey a
15:04defense, and try to get through every progression before I tuck it and run.
15:08There's still a whole lot of, Justin Jefferson is bracketed right now.
15:13Let me roll out.
15:14You know, there's still a lot of that.
15:16And I think Mack Jones just fits the system more.
15:19He's not necessarily a better quarterback.
15:21I think he just fits.
15:23And the Vikings are evaluating Kyler Murray's hamstring.
15:26If the 49ers made it, let it be known that for a third, you could have Mack Jones.
15:32Would you do that?
15:34Well, you probably would not.
15:36Alec, would you make that deal if they were like, he's available, we want a third-round
15:40pick?
15:41That's a team that's ready to win right now.
15:43You pay the price.
15:44Okay.
15:45We're the KNC Masterpiece right here on 105.3 The Fan.
15:49You pay the price.
