00:00I want to let the folks on the phones weigh in.
00:03For me, you put three players to IR yesterday.
00:06Jeremy McNichols, a running back, and two defensive linemen, Kinlaw and Payne.
00:10For me, losing two big boys on the D-line, two very capable players.
00:17You can argue their level of how distinguished they are,
00:21but those are two big pieces for this team.
00:24Both carry substantial salaries because that's how they're valued in the NFL marketplace.
00:29Losing those guys, not to suggest the guys that are here can't play,
00:33but you're hurting depth.
00:35And depth in the trenches is everything.
00:38So for me, it's harder to lose the D-linemen than it is the running backs,
00:42but I do think J-Mac was their best back over the last couple weeks.
00:45So there's food for thought on both sides.
00:49Let's start with Jonesy in D.C. on the phones.
00:51What's up, Jonesy?
00:53All ears.
00:54Good morning, man.
00:54What's happening?
00:55Good morning, dude.
00:55How you doing?
00:56B-mits, B-mits, B-mits.
00:58What's up, man?
00:58B-mits, 30-30.
00:59How you feeling?
01:00I'm good, man.
01:00Look, for me, it's Ken Law, and I'm going to go McNichols.
01:09Payne, to me, he plays when he wants to play, man.
01:11So I don't know.
01:13You know, he's good, you know, but not great.
01:17And I'm just saying, man.
01:18I mean, McNichols would gave you some of the best runs you've seen.
01:23Like, one of them for a touchdown that was called back.
01:25But that's what it is for me, fellas.
01:28So, you know, what say you?
01:30I'm out.
01:31All right, brother.
01:32Appreciate you, man.
01:35I don't think, I don't know.
01:38The running back position, you don't like losing a player like McNichols.
01:43Also, how many games has he played this year?
01:45He was on IR to open.
01:46He was on IR to open, and he came, and he had the, what was the run?
01:51What game was that?
01:52That was, he had the big one.
01:53So if he was on IR to open, the earliest he could be back was the Giants.
01:57They only played three since his window was open, Giants-Niners,
02:01because they had a bye, and then the Eagles.
02:03The Niners game, he had a touchdown, right?
02:04He obviously played against the Eagles, and he played against the Niners.
02:07I'm not even sure he was in that Giants game.
02:09I pulled a box score, I guess.
02:12You don't like losing him.
02:14He's a veteran player, just a really calming presence that works his ass off.
02:20He is super well-liked.
02:22I mean, that's a dude.
02:24Yeah, if he did play in the Giants game, he didn't get a carry or a target.
02:30I don't think he was active.
02:31I don't think he played in that game.
02:32I don't think so either.
02:33But see, just like that, like, you know, Tim Settle has been a guy
02:36who's been very, very serviceable and has played well throughout.
02:39I think Settle's played well, yeah.
02:41Shai Tuttle made plays last year, made plays in the preseason.
02:45He came into, as soon as he gets into the game, he's been making plays again.
02:49Again, we know what Wise is capable of, and Amenehu has, when he's out there,
02:54he is as good as anybody out there.
02:55Agreed.
02:56So you might just have that depth right there with some veteran guys that know
03:00how to get this thing done.
03:01You know, instead of having to depend on somebody much younger.
03:04Looking at snap counts from the Eagles game, where both Payne and Kinlaw were out,
03:08they hadn't been sent to IR yet, but they were both out for that game.
03:12Chason's an edge guy.
03:14He was at 71% of snaps.
03:16Amenehu, to your point, B, 67% of snaps.
03:20Settle at 61%.
03:22Tuttle at 46%.
03:24Dietrich at 26%.
03:27I think you'll see all those numbers kind of creep up a little bit.
03:31But at the same time, you can't have those big boys out there.
03:35There's got to be some rotation.
03:37Yeah.
03:39Let's go to the phones, 800-636-1067.
03:43Mike is in Herndon.
03:44Mike, what's the toughest part of these injuries?
03:46What's the hardest part to replace?
03:50Hey, guys.
03:51I think it's much harder to acquire a serviceable, you know,
03:56I don't want to say starting caliber defensive tackle,
03:58but I think with our defensive line play that I've seen currently,
04:03I don't think it's been good enough,
04:05especially with the guys that we currently have.
04:08So I think that's only going to add to that weakness.
04:11And then on top of that, I think with AP, you know,
04:17I know they're saying that the NFC East is still wide open, you know,
04:21but what kind of moves do we make at this point without giving up some assets,
04:25you know, so I know we don't want to screw ourselves for the future,
04:30but at the same time, you know, what kind of moves do we want to make here?
04:33And then the last thing I'll say, kind of a deviation from the talking point,
04:40but I think Spencer Carberry should be fired.
04:43Thanks, guys.
04:44All right.
04:45I think 14 games in the Caps.
04:48I think we'll hold off on that.
04:50Maybe we have to revisit Spencer Carberry.
04:52I think the hockey cognoscenti would tell you you're wildly off on that,
04:57but I'm not part of the hockey cognoscenti.
05:00800-636-1067.
05:02I agree with that dude prior to the Carberry line that I think D-line is harder to replace.
05:08Let's see what Shane in Fairfax says.
05:10What's up, Shane?
05:11What's up, all ears?
05:13Hey, what's up, buddy?
05:14B-Mitch, top of the morning to you guys.
05:15What's up, man?
05:17Hey, look, I think our depth is shot, tunnel, and Tim's been playing their asses off.
05:25What's going to hurt, though, is the short week.
05:28That's when you're going to see these injuries really hurt us, right, the short week.
05:31I think we'll be fine in the L.A. game.
05:33I think we're going to come out there and do our thing in the L.A. game.
05:36But, you know, it's a big game for them, too.
05:38They're 4-4 and out of the playoffs as well.
05:40So, you know, it's a make-or-break season for both of these squads.
05:44But I think right now, the D-line right now, you just need big bodies, and they're hard
05:49to find in the NFL, call it what it is.
05:51But, like I said, we're really going to fill it this short week.
05:54And, I mean, B-Mitch knows.
05:56I mean, it's hard coming up in that short time frame, and after you just had a hell
06:04of a game against the Eagles, and now you're going to go through a battle with the Rams.
06:10And they're going to do one thing.
06:11They're going to try to put the wheel and run the football on us, and that's what they're
06:15going to try to do.
06:16So, and another thing.
06:17I agree with that.
06:18I think we're going to see a lot of Blake Corum, a lot of Kyron Robinson.
06:22Put them on your fantasy, baby.
06:23Put them on your fantasy.
06:24Thanks, Shane.
06:26Appreciate the call.
06:27He does have a really good point, because we've talked at length about how Washington
06:31is still in the running here for the NFC East.
06:34The Giants haven't run away with this thing.
06:36Giants faced the Eagles this weekend, which is a pretty interesting matchup.
06:39What's the line in that way, Brian?
06:41I think it's in Philly.
06:44If it's in Philly, I got Giants laying four and a half.
06:48Three.
06:49Three, but it's in Philly?
06:51Yes.
06:52Okay.
06:52Anyway, big game, big NFC East game there.
06:55If the Eagles could somehow respond and knock off the Giants, it gets really interesting.
06:59Yes, it does.
07:00But looking at the playoff picture and considering where the conversation was with this Rams team,
07:05if you go across the NFC right now, the Giants would be in for winning the East.
07:10The Vikings would be in for winning the North.
07:13The Panthers at three and four would be in for winning the South.
07:16The Niners would be in for winning the West at six and one.
07:20You got three wild cards left.
07:23All three of them would come out of the NFC North in the Bears, the Lions, and the Packers.
07:28So the Rams, for all of the hype, would be out.
07:32The Seahawks would be out, too.
07:34Now, they got ten games left.
07:37Yeah.
07:37Right?
07:37Or I guess nine in the Rams and Seahawks case.
07:39They haven't had their bye weeks yet.
07:40But, like, there's still a lot to be determined over the course of the remainder of the season.
07:47It isn't.
07:48The Rams can't afford slip-ups.
07:51They can't.
07:51So that is another part of Sunday's game.
07:54But we've seen that team not look.
07:56The thing about it is, as good as they were supposed to be,
08:00we have seen them look completely the opposite, as bad as they can look.
08:06So it's something going on with that squad.
08:10Yeah.
08:10And they've got a lot of injuries, right?
08:12Miles Garrett could be back on Sunday.
08:15Devontae Adams is out.
08:16Nakua's missed time.
08:17Stafford apparently battling elbow soreness.
08:20Something tells you Matt Stafford's elbow's been sore for ten years.
08:24Like, that dude's always on the injury report kind of beat up, but tends to always play.
08:29Yeah, but...
08:30I'm not counting Matt Stafford out.
08:31You don't count him out, but when you have an elbow injury on your throwing arm
08:35and it happens to get hit in a game, it could be a difference.
08:38You know, we've seen Matt Stafford play hurt and can't move to protect himself.
08:42But he's still out on the football field.
08:44Right.
08:45But it hurts his team.
08:46The Rams, however, over the last two weeks seem to have gotten their S together.
08:51Maybe that's a byproduct of the opponents.
08:54They beat the Raiders on the road by two touchdowns in Week 7.
08:58They beat the Chargers at home by two touchdowns last week.
09:02So, they're coming off back-to-back double-digit victories.
09:06Maybe that's the Rams getting it together.
09:08Maybe that's you played the Raiders and the Chargers.
09:10And the Raiders, I do believe, are .500.
09:13The Chargers are 0-and-Walker.
09:16I don't know.
09:17They're 0-and-7.
09:19They had a bye the same week Washington did.
09:21They're 0-and-7.
09:22So, like, those are things to watch, too.
09:25And you've got a West Coast, East Coast thing.
09:26You've got a West Coast team for a Sunday 1 o'clock, which has historically been a factor.
09:32Let's go to Muhammad in Haymarket.
09:35They may come here tomorrow.
09:36They might.
09:37And you learn from that.
09:38Hey, how's your day flight?
09:39What's up, man?
09:40How you doing?
09:40Mo, what's the bigger deal, the running backs or the D-line?
09:44First of all, thanks for having me.
09:45First time caller.
09:46How you guys doing?
09:47B-Mitch and Finley.
09:48Thanks for calling, man.
09:49Appreciate you.
09:51So, I want to go with the defensive line.
09:54I think we can replace that pretty easily versus the running back situation.
10:00But, you know, I wanted to call in and say, I don't know if you guys have seen this movie.
10:04It's called The Replacements.
10:05It's funny enough, it's based in Baltimore.
10:07I love that.
10:08Basically, they kind of replaced the whole team.
10:11And that's kind of what I feel like the commander should do.
10:14I've been a longtime commander's fan my whole life, 35 years on this earth.
10:19And I just feel like it's time to replace everyone, really.
10:22Just kind of keep key players that kind of give all they can.
10:27You know, like Jaden Daniels, Diggs, the big names.
10:30Just kind of replace everyone who don't care, you know.
10:34Because I feel like with this record and with the coaching staff, people just don't care, you know.
10:40And I want players who want to win.
10:43And, yeah, that's all I got to say.
10:45Thanks for having me.
10:46All right.
10:46Appreciate you, bud.
10:47Good idea, but I'll just say this.
10:48That's a movie, and you can't do that in real life.
10:51Yeah, but it's got one of the all-time lines from Keanu.
10:53I don't care.
10:54You can't do it in real life, though.
10:55Pain heals, chicks dig scars, but glory lasts forever.
11:00I think the chicks line is going to be better in real life.
11:04Be Mitch and Finley.
11:05Phone lines are open, 800-636-1067.
11:08He just want to just glance.
11:12He want to just replace the whole team.
11:14And he thinks that's going to work.
11:17That was because there was a strike.
11:19Every once in a while, bro, we have to realize reality and TV is not the same damn thing.
11:26It doesn't work like that.
11:27There is a relevant point from that movie that I've made to some people off air that I'll make now
11:31on air.
11:32If you've watched The Replacements starring Keanu Reeves and others, Terry Crews might be in that.
11:38No, I think he's in Longest Yard.
11:41The kicker, they have this British dude that rips heaters on the sideline as the kicker in the movie.
11:47He looks like Aethon Kaliak-Manis in 10 years.
11:50Aethon Kaliak-Manis and the kicker in The Replacements look a lot alike.
11:54It's Be Mitch and Finley.
11:55Phone lines are open.
11:5611 a.m.
11:57We're talking NFL trade market.
