00:00Now, here is the more concerning part of all of this, Joe, for me.
00:04And, you know, I've been talking about the quarterbacking for a while here
00:07and the backups, and, you know, are there 10 good guys, 15,
00:10you know, 10, 15 good quarterbacks in the NFL.
00:13What I was told before this season is that look out,
00:16because going into next year,
00:18we're going to have the best quarterback class of all time going into the draft.
00:22Oh, really?
00:22Oh, no.
00:23Not anymore.
00:25Not anymore.
00:26Let me see.
00:27Dante Moore, oh, he's a bona fide first-round pick.
00:30Really?
00:31Manning, he's a bona fide first-round pick.
00:33Oh, really?
00:34Like, I mean, the first-round guy,
00:37the guy who's supposed to go first overall,
00:39was not even on the map to be the first, you know, pick,
00:42I think, going into the season.
00:43So I don't think, Joe, anything is changing at all.
00:46Like, I just think that for some reason,
00:49college football is not developing quarterbacks to get ready to play,
00:54you know, at the level that they want them to.
00:56We know the reason, though, Kirk.
00:58We know the reason.
01:00Can you think of this?
01:01Think of this for a second.
01:03A year ago, it appeared as though Kirk Cousins' career was over.
01:08He may be the most coveted quarterback this offseason of any quarterback in the NFL.
01:12Think about that.
01:13Kirk Cousins, who couldn't play in Atlanta,
01:16who was the backup to Mendoza,
01:19like, leads the AFC in passing this season.
01:22He's going to get $50 million next year.
01:25It had nothing to do with him and everything to do with the organization
01:31and the hierarchy who decided to sign him for $160 million
01:36and then immediately hire his replacement and create a quarterback controversy.
01:43In fact, I mean, so Kirk Cousins was always going to be the best of the rest.
01:48He was going to be in that class here because the quarterbacks, to your point, Greg,
01:52that are coming out of college, they aren't fit or able to.
01:57There is a reason why the number one pick this year, Greg, has not sniffed the field.
02:03You know why?
02:04Because even a national champion winning quarterback like Mendoza
02:08is not prepared to play in the NFL.
02:12Why?
02:13Because it only took his, what, fourth school, fourth coach, fourth everything else?
02:18Yeah, looking around, yeah.
02:19To actually...
02:20It's true.
02:21That's not how you develop quarterbacks.
02:23It's not how it works, guys.
02:25That's not...
02:26You're not getting franchise...
02:27How many schools did Dan Marino go to or John Elway go to?
02:32I mean, go down the list.
02:33The greatest quarterbacks who have ever played the game,
02:37they certainly didn't sign with four or five different schools in six years
02:41and then decide to go to the NFL, which I'm with you.
02:45I would not value any quarterback coming out of the NFL
02:49with the kind of money that they're willing to throw around.
02:52But to your point, what choice do teams have?
02:55No, they have none.
02:57They have none.
02:57I mean, just think a couple of years ago,
02:59the 49ers invested everything in Justin Fields
03:02and some kid named Brock Purdy ended up becoming their quarterback.
03:06You know?
03:07Like, it's very difficult.
03:10Who was Mr. Irrelevant?
03:12Right.
03:12And this is the 49ers who are considered to be a great organization
03:16and always doing things right.
03:17They just completely whiffed Trey Lance.
03:19And they ended up with Purdy.
03:21So, you know, I mean, I'm starting to think, you know,
03:25I have asked you about him before and I've seen him play for three, four years.
03:28I mean, say what you want.
03:30Maybe Lenora Sellers is going to end up being good.
03:33I mean, look, at this point, who could you say out of college
03:38that you would trust starting game one next year?
03:41Any quarterback right now in college?
03:43Is there one?
03:44Is there a singular quarterback?
03:47The only kid that I have always said that I thought was Sunday ready to play
03:55when he's done here is Chambliss.
03:58And that's not that he is going to be a super-winning quarterback.
04:01I like him.
04:01I do like him.
04:02He is the only quarterback that has played in every level
04:06and has been one of the best.
04:09And don't forget, he came from, what, a Division II school that he came to?
04:12Well, don't forget, they didn't choose him originally at Ole Miss.
04:16He took over and never let go of the job there.
04:19I can get behind that.
04:21I can get behind that.
04:23I agree with you.
04:24The only kid I would trust to go.
04:26Manning?
04:27What are you getting in Manning?
04:29Who's supposed to be the first pick?
04:30How does he translate what you're seeing in Texas?
04:32Who's the guy that's now supposed to be the first?
04:34No, no, no.
04:34Somebody else is supposed to be the first pick now.
04:37No.
04:37Come on.
04:38Another quarterback.
04:39You're not.
04:39You are not picking a, yeah, you're not picking a wide receiver.
04:42He's number one.
04:43Mess the Baker.
04:44Yeah.
04:45Oh, he is?
04:46Oh, I don't know that.
04:46Yeah.
04:46But Mess the Baker wants to go back to Oklahoma State.
04:48Yes.
04:49You could go back to Oklahoma State.
04:49They don't make away New Zealand or 1997.
04:49Have happened again.
