00:00No, I'll get in trouble. The FCC will come down on me hard.
00:07But, social media reactions on X are brought to you by...
00:09They're brought to you by Shabin Jewelers, Cleveland's premier jewelry store.
00:12The Ohio guys, which I don't know why they're going after me.
00:15I've watched their stuff when they end up on the spaces.
00:22I can't participate in spaces, but I can listen.
00:26And let me try to clean it up.
00:28We don't know why you all don't understand that Sanders doesn't like you all.
00:36Word for cusses.
00:37He don't bleep with you all.
00:39That's fine.
00:40Well, hold on, hold on.
00:42Do you guys think you're special or he's special in that regard?
00:45None of these players want to talk to the media.
00:48If they had their way, none of them would ever talk to the media.
00:51But what they do is they make fun of the media to all their buddies,
00:56to their family members, to their coaches, to their teammates, to their high school coaches.
01:02And then the camera and the microphone are in front of them and they do this.
01:05All right, get in character.
01:07Okay, let me give them nothing.
01:09Let's go.
01:10Yes, we are focused on this week's football matchup.
01:13We respect the heck out of the Saints.
01:15It's going to be a battle.
01:16Oh, Todd Munkin has done everything he can to get me ready for this game.
01:20Me and my coaches, we are going to work really hard to go out there and produce
01:24and put on a good show for the Browns fans because it's all about the dog pound.
01:28And that's what we care about.
01:29Those Cleveland fans.
01:30Woof, woof, woof.
01:31Guys, this is not hard.
01:32Every one of them is schooled equally.
01:34You are not special in that Shador doesn't like the media.
01:39Congratulations.
01:39Congratulations, you're in the 100% of what every player says about the media.
01:45Let me ask you, what do you got, Owen?
01:46I just wanted to do an exercise with Anthony because Anthony brought up last segment,
01:50these midweek questions are about writing the puff piece before the game.
01:54And it's not about exposing what we're going to do on offense this week
01:58so that the Saints know what's going to happen.
02:01But I just, I want to play that cut.
02:04We've got quite a few cuts that I want to play actually.
02:06But I want to play that cut that we played last segment again.
02:09About, you know, how does he fit in the offensive system?
02:13And it'll have a Shador's answer.
02:15And then I'd like to know what Anthony thinks he should have said instead of that.
02:18Anthony, are you cool with that?
02:20Yeah.
02:20Yeah, go ahead.
02:21I am.
02:21Sorry, I'm not Anthony.
02:22Go ahead.
02:22How does this offensive system fit you?
02:26We in like week seven.
02:27When we're talking about the offensive system fitting me,
02:30we could have figured that out, you know, in training camp, you know.
02:35Well, you know what?
02:36I want to play along.
02:37But now I'm just thinking about what he's saying there.
02:41You didn't win the starting job in the offseason, Shador, in the preseason.
02:46So it's a legitimate question to ask if you are meshing with the offense.
02:50Because apparently you were not meshing with the offense enough under Todd Munkin
02:55to win the damn starting job.
02:57So if you don't understand why we're asking that question, why that's a legitimate question,
03:03then I don't know, man.
03:04It sounds like you might not be cut out to be a starting quarterback in the NFL if you can't
03:08make the layups.
03:10That's a layup.
03:11That's an easy question.
03:12Hold on, hold on, hold on.
03:13I don't think that.
03:14See, this is where I differ with you.
03:16I don't think you do differ with me.
03:17Well, I do.
03:18I do.
03:18Because I don't think that that indicates that he can't be a starting quarterback in the NFL.
03:22He can go out there and play well.
03:23It just doesn't give me much hope that he is or faith that he is.
03:27Hope is different from faith.
03:29Faith.
03:30I hope he plays well.
03:32But the answers or lack thereof doesn't give me any faith.
03:35And my issue is, is like, I don't care.
03:37Like, people are going, he has media members he doesn't like.
03:40I don't care that he doesn't like Daryl.
03:42I don't care.
03:43We like it better when you don't like a lot of the media members.
03:45We find that funny.
03:47Both Lyme and I, I'll be honest with you.
03:50Lyme and I have gotten into it with some of the media members that we've had to apologize for
03:53to keep good relationships, including him.
03:56Okay?
03:57I'll come out and say it.
03:58Like, yeah, there's been barbs that have been shared.
04:00Yeah, certainly.
04:01And so, I don't, it is, it does go with the job.
04:05But it's an, I'm a fan of the Browns.
04:08I'm not in the scrum.
04:09In fact, I avoid it.
04:10It's an opportunity to make me feel better.
04:13Because, either A, like, and there are people who are just unrealistic.
04:17I can't talk to them.
04:18But, head coach Todd Munkin decided to go with a guy that, I'm talking to real Browns fans here.
04:25They decided to go with a guy that the real Browns fans, the ones that have been here before,
04:30Shador Sanders and everything, they don't like him.
04:32He went with the pariah.
04:34And that was an unpopular move over you, who's a popular person.
04:38Dick K, did we all not want, did people not listen to the show?
04:41Did we all not want and thought it made more sense for Shador to be the starting quarterback this year?
04:47Did we all not say that countless times?
04:49Yes, because we didn't think they were going to do anything.
04:51Maybe we thought they were going to be a two-win football team.
04:53Maybe you have to remind these people that are saying, oh, Shador doesn't blank with this media.
04:59These media, they all hated Deshaun Watson.
05:02They all wanted nothing to do with Deshaun Watson.
05:04So, if you want to talk about a player and how he feels about the media, ask Deshaun Watson how
05:09he feels about the media here.
05:10Ask Deshaun Watson how he feels about the fans here.
05:13Yeah, it's true.
05:13Well, we kind of know because he got himself into trouble after the Buffalo preseason game.
05:17So, I don't understand this.
05:20This, oh, well, you know, Shador doesn't really like the media.
05:23And congratulations.
05:24That makes him just like every other player that's ever played here.
05:27My natural reaction.
05:30And again, I hope I'm wrong.
05:31He might be a savant.
05:32He might go out there and throw for 330 and they win.
05:35And he wins a shootout against Tyler Shook and everything's great.
05:38Because people are like, I heard Jonathan in the promo go, boy, this is as good a chance as a
05:42get-right game as you're going to get in the NFL.
05:44I'll go, Chase Young has seven sacks in seven games.
05:48I always want to call him Curtis Granderson.
05:50Has a few sacks.
05:51Is very good.
05:52Like, you got guys over there.
05:53The grindy man can.
05:53The grindy man can.
05:55Yes.
05:55Like, you got guys over there that can get to the quarterback.
05:58They're not good at stopping the run, except you're not very good at running the ball.
06:01And they're not very good at running the ball, but you're not very good at stopping the run.
06:05So, I think this ends up being a tight game.
06:07But let me go back to it.
06:08He picked a guy that everybody couldn't stand over you.
06:11And so, that tells me that that is either, A, that really is an ownership-driven thing, which it's not.
06:18I don't believe it is.
06:19You don't believe it is.
06:20Nobody with common sense in this city believes it is.
06:23Or, B, Todd Munkin just really felt that Deshaun Watson, who isn't very good, gives them a better chance to
06:30win over you, over Dylan, over Taylan Green, who's a rookie and a six-round pick.
06:35So, now that he's chosen him, the very wildly unpopular guy, who is not playing exceedingly well, that people make
06:45the argument that they're winning in spite of him.
06:47He chose that guy over you.
06:50I want to feel better about this opportunity for you coming up on Sunday.
06:55Because my thought is, all right, he must really be behind, or there's something that's not meshing here.
07:02We've got to get this going.
07:03So, when Jeff asked that question, I want to know an answer.
07:07Because I want to feel better about you going out there on Sunday.
07:11And the only thing I heard over eight minutes, or seven and a half minutes in the press conference, was
07:17things that made me worried about Sunday.
07:19And, yeah, I'm an emotional person, and I'm high-strung, but you're much calmer about these things than me.
07:25Did you hear anything that gave you a lot of confidence on Sunday if he plays?
07:29I heard somebody that sounded immature, like treated this as a joke.
07:33Well, no, he said he's matured, so I have to disagree with you.
07:36That's what mature people do.
07:37They make sure to go out of their way to tell people how mature they are.
07:40That's a normal thing that mature individuals do.
07:42Now, wait a minute.
07:43Do you believe you're mature?
07:46Kenny, I feel like that's a ridiculous question right now.
07:50Why are you asking me that?
07:51Now you're going out of your way to tell me that you're mature.
07:53It's week eight.
07:53So, what are you?
07:54It's week eight.
07:55Why are we still asking me about my maturity levels?
07:58See how silly that sounds?
08:00We both know that we're both pretty immature on a lot of things.
08:04By the way, no, I am not mature.
08:05He was asked about studying the Saints defense.
08:08Here's the question.
08:09Here's the answer.
08:09Have you had a chance to study the Saints defense yet a little bit?
08:12And what are you seeing so far?
08:14Um, yeah, I've seen a lot.
08:17When I smile, just know that means something.
08:23I'm maturing, you know what I'm saying?
08:24I'm maturing.
08:25Like, I could have gave that, you know, a decent answer, but now I'm just going to smile whenever
08:30it's just like some questions, you know.
08:33I mean, that's the least mature answer you could have possibly given in that predicament.
08:36Well, I want to know what you're...
08:38He sounded like a freshman high school quarterback.
08:40Well, no, it sounds like you got something up your sleeve, and if you don't have anything
08:43up your sleeve, now I'm nervous that they're going to go after you here.
08:47The Saints, not the media.
08:48I don't care about the media.
08:50That's what I'm worried about.
08:512-1-6-4-7-4-0-0-92.
08:55Let's go to the phones.
08:56Jovan in San Antonio, you're first up on the fan.
08:59Hello.
09:00Well, good morning, gentlemen.
09:01How are y'all?
09:02What's happening?
09:03What?
09:04I said, good morning, gentlemen.
09:06How are you guys?
09:07Oh, gentlemen.
09:07I thought you called me Jimmy.
09:08Go ahead, Jovan.
09:09Yeah, we're doing well.
09:10Go ahead.
09:12Listen, the only problem is, is the media making a big deal out of it.
09:17He's answering the question just fine.
09:19Listen, what was...
09:20Well, that was a non-answer.
09:21What was the answer?
09:22Those weren't answers.
09:22What was the answer to the question?
09:23Wait, wait, you thought this answer was a good answer?
09:26How do you establish your own tempo, pace, rhythm early in the game to get yourself and
09:32the offense rolling the way you want?
09:35Y'all asking questions I probably didn't even think about, to be honest.
09:39So I really don't have an answer for that.
09:41That was a good answer?
09:43That's right.
09:44He ain't giving y'all or the other team nothing.
09:47Yeah, I'm not giving you anything.
09:48Oh, my God.
09:49This is stupid.
09:50This is absolutely insane that people listen to that and defend him on stuff like that.
09:57That is stupidity.
09:58That's stupidity.
10:00And if you want to call it and defend him on stupidity, then you're not on the show today.
10:04Oh, and how old are your kids?
10:06Old enough to not do crap like that.
10:08My oldest boy is 17.
10:10My youngest one's 13.
10:12Your boy has been...
10:13You've had kids that have been interviewed before, have they not?
10:15Yes.
10:16Because they're kind of standout wrestlers.
10:18Yes.
10:19And what would you say if your kid came home and that was the answer while he's smiling
10:22and laughing at the end of every answer?
10:24We would talk about, first off, representing our family name.
10:29That would be the thing that I would talk to him about personally.
10:32And if I was Dion, I would talk to him personally about how he's representing our family.
10:38And when you don't want to answer things because, well, I wasn't prepared for that.
10:43You knew this morning.
10:44Also, you've been playing quarterback in the NFL for two years now.
10:48You were the star quarterback in college.
10:50Also, you've been playing quarterback in college for what?
10:52Three years?
10:53Also, or four years?
10:55I haven't seen this man in a long time.
10:56I haven't seen you this man other than me or Anthony at all.
11:00It is asinine that people want to call in and defend that and go, that was good.
11:04That was a good press conference.
11:05Is your job, it wasn't Shador's entire charge from the organization, from the head coach,
11:12and we know a little more than maybe some other people just because we talked to some people in the
11:17organization.
11:18The charge is to be mature and ready for everything.
11:21You're the starting quarterback.
11:22Act like it, right?
11:24Does it honestly sound, even to the Shador fans, does that sound like somebody who is acting like the starting
11:30quarterback of a $5 billion organization?
11:33When's the last time that Shador spoke to the media?
11:34I'll tell you, it was after preseason week three.
11:39That was not, we have not talked to him since then.
11:42We're in week nine now.
11:44He's hired an agent since then.
11:45He was asked about hiring an agent.
11:47First time we've had to talk to you since you've been in the process of hiring an agent.
11:52Was that just a natural development in your career?
11:56What did that got to do with this game?
11:58Nothing.
12:00I'm focused on this game.
12:01Anything else really don't matter at this point, you know?
12:04Yeah, I mean, quarterbacks are asked about the state of geopolitics.
12:08They're asked about everything.
12:09Well, they are, honestly, if you want to be a starting quarterback in the league, you better be ready to
12:16be asked about everything that happens on your football team, everything that happens in your city.
12:21I honestly would have accepted, I'm really not interested in answering that at this time.
12:26I would have accepted that as an answer as, what does that have to do with this game?
12:30I agree with you.
12:32That question has nothing to do with this game.
12:34It has zilch.
12:35Welcome to being a quarterback in the NFL.
12:37Like, these guys are asked about everything under the sun.
12:40I have not talked to you in nine weeks, ten weeks.
12:44216-474-0092.
12:46Clearly, there's a lot of opinions on this.
12:49I just wanted to feel better.
12:52I stated all this at the beginning of this segment.
12:55I want to feel better about him playing for the Browns on Sunday.
12:59The head coach of the football team picked the guy that nobody likes to be the starter.
13:03And that guy has played decent at best, okay?
13:08The argument I made for him is that they haven't won in spite of Deshaun Watson.
13:13I believe that sincerely, okay?
13:15And I think he's not afraid to play the position anymore.
13:18I don't think he's running around afraid of his own shadow anymore.
13:21Those are the defenses that I've made of Deshaun Watson.
13:24To me, this is a golden opportunity.
13:28If Deshaun Watson can't go, you can take over this job.
13:32But they chose a guy who was wildly unpopular with me, with the fans, after the Buffalo game.
13:38It was almost like, boy, you almost have to let – there were people saying we got to let him
13:42go
13:42and we should eat the 80-something million dollar hit.
13:45And now you have a chance to go out there and play good football.
13:49But it is in the back of my head going, what weren't you able to do
13:53to not be able to unseat the wildly unpopular guy that they picked to be the starter?
13:59And I want to feel better about that because this is, to me, a big, big, big game.
14:02You lose this football game.
14:04Yeah, you're still 5-4.
14:06But this is seen as a team.
14:08I give them credit because they're professionals and they're going to try to take your head off
14:11just like every other team is going to.
14:13But this is an opportunity to settle things down, get back to 6-3.
14:17Remember, there's a lot of people around the league going,
14:19hey, you're frauds and we saw it on Sunday.
14:21We've been waiting for the other shoe to drop.
14:22You guys went out there.
14:23You talked your trash.
14:24You embarrassed yourself in front of everybody in Pittsburgh.
14:27They're still talking about you, those players are in Pittsburgh.
14:30They're laughing at you.
14:30James Harrison will play that clip coming up later on in the show.
14:33He actually, I can't disagree with James Harrison because I live too close to Coventry
14:37and he'll end up at my door and I'm terrified of him.
14:39But at the same time, he ended up agreeing with all this stuff because it's all true.
14:43And so now you have to go out there and answer that bell.
14:46And it's up to you, if you have to play, to answer for things that you didn't even say
14:51because of what your teammates said.
14:53And now you have to get them going.
14:54This is an opportunity to rally everybody to your side.
14:58And here we are talking about Daryl.
15:01I'm sorry.
15:02I'm sorry.
15:03What was the rap on Shador and why, partially why?
15:06Because it wasn't the football, right?
15:07Why did he drop to the fifth round?
15:10What did everybody say about him?
15:11What did everybody question?
15:12And you even heard it with Shador.
15:13Why did Shador bring up the I've matured thing?
15:16He knows that's what the league thinks of him, that he's immature.
15:19Why did he fall to the fifth round?
15:20How did he handle the pre-draft process?
15:24Was it maturity, something brought up by everybody?
15:26And then we are.
15:27We're sitting here going into week eight of an NFL football season.
15:30And wait till you hear how the New Orleans quarterback, I can't say that young because
15:35he's not that young.
15:35No, he's 28.
15:36Wait till you hear how he answers the same questions, by the way.
15:39Oh, oh, the Cleveland media.
15:40The same questions were asked to Tyler Shook about the Cleveland Browns.
15:44Wait till you hear how he approached that.
15:46I just want to feel confident.
15:47That's all I'm saying.
15:48Ken Carman, Anthony Lima, where else but 92.3 The Fan, 92.3 The Fan.com, the free
