00:00I wonder if you are scared of this Rams team.
00:03Before the season, the Rams were one of the Super Bowl favorites.
00:05Actually, they were the Super Bowl favorite after they added Miles Garrett.
00:10And Aaron Donald comes back.
00:12To go along with the team that made it to the championship game last year.
00:16And that was a close game against the Seahawks, 31-27.
00:19If you just look at the last five seasons, they had a Super Bowl championship in 2021.
00:24Down year in 2022.
00:26Then they were 10-7, 10-7.
00:28Lost in the playoffs both seasons.
00:30And then last year, make it to the championship game.
00:32So, that was where the Rams were before the season.
00:36But, as they come to Washington, they come with a 500 record at 4-4.
00:42They come without Devontae Adams, who had kind of emerged as their touchdown guy in the red zone last year.
00:48Had a bunch of touchdowns, but also their deep threat this year.
00:51They still have Puka Nakua, but they're not firing at all cylinders like you'd expect.
00:54Matthew Stafford, who's won an MVP, is not playing as well as he did during his MVP season.
01:01It's not to say that he's playing bad, but he does have a bunch of interceptions.
01:03He's made some mistakes.
01:05Defensively, they're good.
01:06Not great.
01:07What do you think of this Rams team?
01:09I think they're pretty good, not great, but they've won their last two road games, including one of those where
01:17they flew east and took on the Eagles, beat them 24-20.
01:21They handled the Raiders in Vegas, another road trip.
01:25They really stumbled in the home game a few weeks ago against the Cardinals.
01:29That's the one I can't quite figure out.
01:31I think that kind of got the team's attention as far as, look, we can't stub our toe against bad
01:35teams like the Arizona Cardinals if we want to get to the playoffs.
01:39They do work in the playoffs.
01:41So they've been sharper the last few weeks, and they've had to rely on the running game more.
01:46The duo of Kyron Williams and Blake Corum is very effective.
01:50And with Stafford getting up there in years, I think he's 37 or 38.
01:54He's managing arm soreness this week.
01:56Like, they want to take more off of his plate and give it to the running backs, and they're doing
02:00that.
02:01Yeah, I mean, they've got their holes, too.
02:02I mean, you shouldn't be afraid of anybody in the NFL because anything can happen on any Sunday.
02:06The matchups don't really favor them because they've got Puka and they've got better running backs, in my opinion, than
02:15Washington does.
02:16But it's a home game.
02:17If you can force turnovers and Jaden can play well.
02:21Jaden just has to run, man.
02:22He just has to be one of those because you've got to take advantage of that.
02:26So if he can get that 50 to 70 yards rushing, that would be huge.
02:29I think that's the pass, too, because if their secondary's banged up, you've got to take advantage of that, too.
02:34Take advantage of that, too, right.
02:35Yeah.
02:36But the matchups, you know, don't favor them, really, especially the third downs and the red zone.
02:42But any game's winnable.
02:44This is the NFL.
02:45Every week there are a couple head scratchers, right?
02:49And we're always a part of it every year, one or two of them.
02:51We just scratch your head and go, how'd they do that?
02:53And look, outside of Puka, like with Devontae Adams' sideline, they don't have a lot of premier receiving threats.
02:59But they have capable tight ends that they rotate into the game and rely on heavily.
03:04And we've seen what tight ends have done to this commander's team throughout the season.
03:08So don't be surprised if Colby Parkinson pops up and has a big game.
03:12Or Davis Allen is a guy that they use near the end zone for a short touchdown pass.
03:18Those guys are not guys that you're going to think of when you think of elite tight ends, because they're
03:22not.
03:23But they could have big performances against this team.
03:25They're going to throw to Kyron Williams more.
03:28It's a good point that the guy in Yahoo Sports made.
03:31Now that Devontae's out, they're going to throw to Kyron Williams more.
03:34Right.
03:34And when they throw to Puka, he's going to catch it.
03:371-800-636-1067.
03:40Are you worried about this Rams team?
03:42They are a favorite.
03:44But are they as good as they've been in the past?
03:46Let's get people fired up.
03:47I put it up on Junkies Poll of the Day brought to you by Surfside.
03:50Grab a Surfside.
03:51The tailgate must have.
03:52Real vodka, only 100 calories and zero bubbles.
03:55It's not a seltzer.
03:56It's Surfside.
03:57Must be 21.
03:58Please drink responsibly.
03:59And it's who wins on Sunday, Commanders or Rams?
04:03Rams are the favorite fans that right now are voting.
04:06You can vote Adjuncts Radio 65%.
04:09But that's not 100%.
04:12That's not 90%.
04:14That's far from 50-50.
04:16Pretty big percentage.
04:1765% is pretty high.
04:17Yeah, but I think if you're playing other teams, like if it was the Bills,
04:20it would be a different story.
04:22If it was a couple other teams in the NFC,
04:25I think it would be tougher for the Commanders to get a win
04:31and for fans to see a win.
04:32If you told me that they're going to sack Matt Stafford three to four times
04:37and pressure him throughout the game,
04:38I'd feel a lot better about the Commanders' chances.
04:41Sure.
04:41I just don't know if they're going to be able to get to him
04:44before he releases the ball.
04:46Here's a tweet from Siege at CJ81.
04:50He says,
04:51Quarterbacks like Stafford against us usually never make mistakes
04:55and just pick us apart.
04:56I'm hopeful, but I'm not optimistic.
04:59Well, but he's also not afraid to sling it, right?
05:02And throughout his career, he's got an unbelievable arm,
05:04one of the best arm talents in the history of the league.
05:07And he's got eight turnovers this year.
05:09I don't know.
05:10They just can't come out in the first quarter like they did in the Eagle game.
05:14Or like they've come out in a bunch of games,
05:16but don't come out flat and go down 10-0.
05:18If you go down 10-0, they're going to take advantage.
05:20The Rams are going to take advantage of it.
05:21I've said it before.
05:22The rest of the game.
05:23I'd like to get the ball first.
05:25I know that that's countered everything,
05:27but I would like to get the ball first and try to score first
05:30instead of always playing catch-up.
05:32Because we inevitably give up a score on the first drive.
05:36You could almost set your clock to it.
05:38Oh, the Rams are going to score.
05:41We'll be down 7-0.
05:43It's like almost a gear.
05:44They go right down the field.
05:45It's pretty drastic, by the way.
05:47You look at Stafford's attempts.
05:50In the last three games,
05:51he's attempted 25, 29, and 33 passes.
05:55The three games prior to that, 54, 51, 55.
06:00His numbers have basically been cut in half.
06:03That's how much more reliant they are on that rushing attack.
06:07They just don't want him throwing the ball 50 times.
06:10I wonder also, he's also been nursing an elbow, shoulder type thing for a year.
06:15For a long time.
06:17In fact, I can remember last year,
06:19there were some questions whether or not he'd even play.
06:22All right, let's go to the phones.
06:23800-636-1067 if you want to chime in.
06:27Are you scared?
06:28I'm always scared.
06:30Shane, come on.
06:31Let's hear some confidence.
06:32You wouldn't be scared of the Dolphins.
06:34No, no.
06:35Morning, junk.
06:36I'm always scared of good teams.
06:38What's up?
06:39I ain't scared of nobody.
06:41You're scared?
06:41They're scary.
06:42We ain't scared of them Rams.
06:43They're like, they're 4-4, right?
06:44They're in the same position we're in.
06:46They're fighting to get in the playoffs.
06:47They're fighting for their season.
06:49So, look, and this is a make or break for them.
06:52Hell, it's bigger for them because they got bigger at state, right?
06:55They're closer to the Super Bowl, right?
06:57They got the super team over there,
06:59and they're looking on the outside end.
07:00I do believe that Amos is going to come back and make a difference,
07:04and I do believe Nick Cross is going to come up and step up.
07:09He's got to play the run, and he's got to play the pass.
07:12Without our big bodies, sorry-ass Deron Payne,
07:16I think our depth is going to be there,
07:18but here's what I'm worried about.
07:20It's the next week, the short week,
07:22is when you're going to start seeing these injuries and the depth.
07:25Right now, I'm not too worried about the Rams.
07:27You stop the run, I think we'll be okay.
07:29I don't know what you think.
07:30Nick, what do you think?
07:31I like that.
07:32I don't know if any of us are picking the commanders.
07:35One of us has to pick the commanders.
07:37We have to?
07:38I think so.
07:39It's a necessity?
07:40Well, hold on.
07:41Let's not.
07:42No, let's all pick the Rams,
07:43because whenever we've done that, we've been wrong.
07:45Oh, okay.
07:45Right?
07:46I'll pick the Rams.
07:47Whenever we're in that group think,
07:48generally that's the way it works.
07:50Whenever we're in group think, it comes back to honor.
07:51And by the way, that's not contrived.
07:53No, it's not.
07:54I think if you put a gun to my head,
07:56or I was on Survivor or something,
07:57and I had some pencil on a leaf,
07:59I would write down the Rams.
08:01I think all of us would.
08:03Yeah.
08:03All right.
08:04It's not contrived.
08:05Let's go to Russell in Temple Hills.
08:08Russell, what's up?
08:10Good morning.
08:10How are you gentlemen doing?
08:11Hey, Russell.
08:12Doing great.
08:12How are you?
08:13What's up, Russell?
08:13I'm doing pretty good, man.
08:15What y'all talking about, man?
08:16The commander's got this game all the way.
08:18We ain't worried about those.
08:19We ain't worried about those Los Angeles Rams.
08:21I guarantee you we're going to beat them.
08:24All right.
08:24Why?
08:25Tell me why.
08:27Because we got the belly team.
08:29We got the wide receivers.
08:31We got digs.
08:32You know, we got our receivers out there.
08:34We got our running backs.
08:35We just got, what's the guy's name?
08:37Lewis Jr.
08:38He's going to be playing.
08:39He's going to be all right.
08:40Jayden Daniels got magic in his arms, man.
08:42We're going to win this game.
08:43Have you lost any magic?
08:45What do you think of the criticism that Jayden Daniels has taken?
08:48And people are saying he's not taking enough shots, not enough explosive plays with his
08:53arms, tight window throws, that kind of stuff.
08:55What do you think?
08:55I think they just need to give Jayden Daniels time.
08:58I'm pretty sure he knows he's not taking enough shots.
09:02I think he's going to take a lot of shots in this game because the grand secondary is
09:07only so-so.
09:08Yeah.
09:09Yeah.
09:09And they banged up.
09:10So we're going to be all right.
09:12And we can't be scared of any team to come on paper.
09:15You know, we just got to play.
09:16Right.
09:17But my dream is we put a team together so that next year teams will be scared to play
09:25us instead of us being scared to play them or vice versa.
09:29Well, that's what I hope for us this year.
09:32Yeah.
09:32Yeah.
09:33I'd like to see our team built like the, what's the team that's really good out there?
09:40Like the Bills?
09:42Yeah, that would be the dream.
09:43Yeah, like the Bills.
09:44Yeah.
09:44Like the Bills and the 49ers.
09:47You know, I'd like to for our team to be built that way.
09:50You know what?
09:50I don't, you know what?
09:51It hurts us in my opinion.
09:53I don't know.
09:53Thank you, Russell.
09:54I don't know if you guys agree.
09:56It just doesn't feel like we have a huge home field advantage in general.
10:01On the whole, you play against these big teams.
10:04They haven't for years.
10:0520 to 25% of the opposing team's fans in there.
10:08I'm not saying that'll be the case with the Rams.
10:10I have no idea.
10:11But it just doesn't feel like an overwhelming home field advantage in any sense of the word.
10:17It was starting to change.
10:18It was starting to change in 2024.
10:21And then they lost that momentum last year with just having a terrible season.
10:26Yeah.
10:27Man, if we could have a stadium where...
10:29Josh Harris is trying to do everything.
10:30I know.
10:31They're trying to bring in the power.
10:31I mean, they do the spear bit now.
10:33Like, I'm not saying that that's a great thing, but they're trying.
10:35They do all the right things.
10:37They are winning off the field.
10:39They're trying.
10:39They're doing all those type of things.
10:41I don't know if they want that phrase attached to them.
10:43But I would maybe feel a little more confident, a little bit, maybe 5% more confident,
10:47if I felt like it was going to be an overwhelmingly loud environment for them.
10:50Who's doing the spear bit this week?
10:51So it was ripping last week.
10:53I'd have to look it up.
10:54I don't know who's doing it this week.
10:55How did Rip do?
10:56You find.
10:57Yeah.
10:57He had a weird...
10:58He had like a half jersey bit.
10:59Yes, it was weird.
11:00Half white, half burgundy jersey.
11:02It was kind of weird.
11:03But what are you going to do?
11:04He's had concussions.
11:05Let's go to our guys, Vic.
11:08In that key, I love Rip.
11:09Vic, what's up, man?
11:11We're going with the chucks.
11:12What's up?
11:13What's up, y'all?
11:13Hey, Vic.
11:14I'm going to get right to it.
11:16I'm nervous because Matthew Stavrid, as you said, he's still a heck of a passer.
11:21Yeah.
11:21He still can throw you over with his eyes and stick it with the ball very quickly.
11:25And Deronte Jones blitzes when he doesn't have to blitz.
11:28And when he does that, he leaves gaping holes in the middle of the...
11:32So you're not happy with Deronte in general?
11:34Are you happy with Deronte or not?
11:38I'm in the middle because I think some of it is because the play call sometimes exposes
11:42us.
11:42And it exposes us in areas where we are lacking, I won't say talent, lacking IQ, or we lack
11:53the ability to plot IQ and show up on the field.
11:56I know one of the players was saying that the defensive staff sometimes does not relate
12:01the messages the way he wants them to.
12:03I know he inherited that staff, so that may not be all on him.
12:08But defensively, that's why I'm worried.
12:10Matthew Stavrid is still a very good quarterback, and he has the ability to eat you up for long
12:13chunks of yardage in situations in football where it could be a backbreaker for us.
12:18I'm looking forward to seeing RD Line do what they did last week.
12:21RD Line was using a lot more hands as they were moving forward.
12:24They were using a lot more leverage.
12:27What do you see, Vic?
12:28I know you coach on the youth level, and you kind of consider yourself like kind of a guru.
12:34What do you see from Sonny Stiles?
12:38I like it.
12:39I'm getting Sonny like an 84, 85.
12:42Right now, Sonny reads well.
12:45Sonny is fast to the football.
12:46He plays with pretty good eyes, like P plus, B minus at times in pass coverage.
12:52He watches the pass are great.
12:54He's physical.
12:56He's going to get better.
12:57He reads better than Frankie Lubu.
13:01I think Leo Chanel reads better than both of them.
13:03But Sonny's gotten better over the year.
13:06And he fits.
13:07When he does fit, he fits well.
13:08And he fits well at the point of attack where he can tackle the ball at the backfield.
13:13And that's rare when people have to do that a lot.
13:16Right.
13:17All right, Vic.
13:18So give me a prediction.
13:23I'm going to go out on a whim.
13:25I'm going to say 24-17.
13:28All right.
13:29We'll take it.
13:30We'll take it.
13:31We'll take it.
13:32We'll take it.
13:33He really believes it.
13:34He was just saying it.
13:35It was a towel when he took that deep breath.
13:37The hesitation.
13:38Yeah.
13:39By the way, I would be lying if I said I knew how to read this chart exactly.
13:43But I'm looking at a chart of wide receiver separation and yards per route run with no help.
13:50Basically, when somebody's just getting single covered.
13:53And Antonio Williams, he's in elite company.
13:56He's in the part of the graph with names like Justin Jefferson, Devontae Adams, Amon Ross St. Brown, Chris Alave,
14:05CeeDee Lamb, Garrett Wilson.
14:08And we saw him lead the team in targets last week.
14:11Got to do it again.
14:12We saw him become a bigger part of the offense.
14:13Sure.
14:14You just got to do it again.
14:15You got to take advantage of that.
14:17That's the one guy, when you saw his clips, that's the first thing that jumped out at you is that
14:22unique wiggle that he has.
14:23He's just scratching the surface of it.
14:25I'm hoping to see more of that this weekend and the next few weekends.
14:29Him and Chig.
14:30I know we've been saying it for weeks and weeks and weeks.
14:32Since training camp.
14:33We need more from both those guys.
14:35And honestly, I mean, Diggs has to step up.
14:39We need more.
14:39We can't just get two or three catches from Diggs.
14:41Even though the guy's got like five touchdowns, he's been a big part of it.
14:44We need more.
