00:00Good morning, welcome to your weekend, and welcome to your morning weather update from the Met Office.
00:04A fairly glum start to Saturday, some fog patches around, a lot of cloud.
00:09High pressure is dominating, but sitting out to the east, there's deepening areas of low pressure down to the southwest.
00:14We're kind of stuck in the middle. We do have this very old weather front,
00:18which is providing some thicker cloud and some dank and drizzly conditions over parts of southern Scotland and the east
00:24coast of England.
00:25It's a bit damp and drizzly too for Northern Ireland.
00:27Some showers on the south coast of England, even the odd heavier burst of rain here.
00:31And it's also in the south where we've got some thick fog patches.
00:34They'll steadily clear, will take a while, getting to that time of year where they're particularly stubborn,
00:39but should brighten up at times across parts of the Midlands, Wales, southern England with a bit of sunshine,
00:44but there will still be a few showers around.
00:46This zone over northeast England, southeast Scotland, likely to stay pretty dull, pretty dank, pretty drizzly,
00:53cheering up a bit in Northern Ireland. Again, I suspect it'll be the west coast of Scotland.
00:57It's the western isles that see some decent spells of sunshine in eastern Scotland.
01:01Still a bit of a breeze, bringing in more cloud and a few light showers here.
01:05Temperatures, well, responding if we get a bit of brightness up into double digits, maybe 12, perhaps even a 13.
01:12But for most places, 10 or 11 at best and feeling cooler, particularly with this dank and drizzly weather persisting
01:18over northeast England and southeast Scotland.
01:20Still there into this evening, so if heading out for a firework display, be prepared for a little bit of
01:25light rain and drizzle.
01:26Maybe still one or two showers, of course, southern England, but they should be fading through the night.
01:31And again, overnight, the mistiness returns, turning murky and one or two thick fog patches likely in this zone over
01:38Wales,
01:38the Midlands, southernmost counties of England.
01:41Temperature-wise, well, again, it depends on that cloud cover.
01:44If the cloud sticks around, temperature's holding up in high single figures.
01:48But where we've got clear skies, actually likely to turn pretty chilly.
01:51Some pockets of frost just about possible in rural spots, but generally tending to turn foggy before it turns too
01:57frosty.
01:58That fog, though, likely again to linger on Sunday morning, taking quite a while before it clears away.
02:04So some places staying pretty murky through Sunday morning.
02:07Overall, a brighter day, but still these easternmost counties of northern England, eastern Scotland, likely to be fairly cloudy with
02:14some light rain and drizzle at times.
02:17Brighter skies perhaps in the afternoon over Wales, southern England, northern Ireland.
02:20Some sunny spells coming through here.
02:22And again, far northwest doing all right for dry and bright weather.
02:26But temperature-wise, again, still around or below average for the time of year, particularly if that fog lingers late
02:32into the morning.
02:33We could struggle to get out of single digits, generally 10 to 12 degrees Celsius.
02:38Weather pattern's only slowly changing as we head into next week.
