00:00What I have been wrong about in my attempt at optimism on a 2014 playoff,
00:07again, I want to be very clear.
00:09I am not someone who thinks that we needed to go to 24.
00:12I thought 16 was fine.
00:13But in my attempt at optimism, right,
00:17one of the prevailing notions that people have offered up
00:21is 2014 playoff, everybody makes it.
00:23And I'm like, well, how can we say that?
00:26The Oregon Ducks, preseason, Oregon Ducks were second.
00:34And they aren't even close to making a 24 team.
00:41Oh, my gosh, they're ranked 23.
00:44Oh, my gosh, they're ranked 23.
00:47Whoops.
00:48Whoops.
00:49All right, hand up.
00:50That's on me, man.
00:51That's all.
00:52I didn't see that coming.
00:53And now I could absolutely be like, well, they'll lose to Ohio State.
00:58And you know what I mean?
00:59Like, but I got to tell you this, guys.
01:02Even if they lose to Ohio State, even if they lose to Ohio State,
01:06and they win out and their remaining three games, of which they are favored in,
01:09in the final set of rankings through this committee,
01:13I do believe 8-4 Oregon will finish inside the top 24.
01:22So, everybody makes it?
01:24I mean, I'm just going to have to, like, hang my hat on how bad Kyle Whittingham
01:27and Michigan are, I guess.
01:30But we have a college football playoff eliminator under a 2014 format here, Dave.
01:38You just bottle up everything you just said, and you just made my case for why we shouldn't
01:43have a 2014 playoff if an 8-4 Oregon Ducks team is making the playoff.
01:49And it's funny, you were wrong on that.
01:51I had written six ranked-versus-ranked teams this week, all week long.
01:56And then I heard reports that there were seven.
01:58I'm like, what am I missing?
01:59Why did I have six?
02:00Oregon's ranked.
02:01I'm like, oh, crap, I missed that on Tuesday.
02:03They ranked Oregon.
02:04I just assumed they weren't.
02:05And I said this Oregon-Ohio State game, which legitimately could have been number one
02:10versus number two in the country back in August, is absolutely an eliminator game.
02:15Because you look at it right now, and neither team is in the playoff.
02:18And Oregon does have a path to win.
02:20As Reese Davis pointed out on the show Tuesday, Oregon wins out.
02:25They can win the Big Ten Championship.
02:27Same can be said for Ohio State.
02:29And this is a battle of two teams that are severely disappointed.
02:34Severely.
02:35The edge goes to Ohio State.
02:37They still have, right now, the more talented players.
02:40They're both missing their quarterback.
02:42The Buckeyes' numbers are better on both sides of the ball.
02:46I just, I cannot lay seven and a half with what the Ohio State offense has done recently.
02:52I think this is a great under spot, 46 and a half, because both these teams have trouble
02:58with no quarterback.
03:00They're going to have trouble moving the ball.
03:02I think this is your typical Big Ten game.
03:04I'm not calling for Minnesota-Indiana 9-6 or Michigan 9-6.
03:09I do think this could be a 23-20 game on all of a sudden.
03:13So, I needed to get creative with this one.
03:18Because Ohio State are a tricky book, right?
03:21They're a tricky bet.
03:23You can tell odds makers not so sure.
03:25Ohio State back at home are laying close to the number they laid at USC.
03:32I still can't believe I ended up not making money in that game, but that's, I don't know,
03:36that's more on me than anybody else, except for, you know, the Ohio State play calling
03:41and the final drive, but whatever.
03:43We're going to pretend it didn't happen.
03:45Now, so it's tricky, right?
03:48Now you got Dylan Rayola.
03:50Is he good?
03:50Is he not?
03:52Probably not, mate.
03:53But sometimes, I mean, he was great against Northwestern.
03:55I mean, he really was.
03:57336 yards, three touchdowns.
03:59Did not throw an interception.
04:01Really, really impressive stuff.
04:03When I look at the spot here, though, I believe Oregon needs to run the ball in order to stay
04:12tight.
04:13I don't think, although maybe we should be just talking about Oregon the other direction.
04:19Like, does 9-3 Oregon get some benefit of the doubt, crack a 12-team playoff type of deal?
04:25Probably not.
04:27But Dan Lanning certainly is going to believe so and tell his guys as much.
04:31I believe they need to run the ball here today against Ohio State.
04:35The Ohio State secondary, to me, is the better of the units.
04:41I know Jada Maiava had himself a fantastic game.
04:44I think it was a really good spot.
04:46I'm not looking to drop back Dylan Rayola 30-plus times against this Buckeyes defense.
04:51I just am not.
04:53The number, and again, these books are always expanding options,
04:57on FanDuel for the Oregon game.
05:01Team total rushing yards is at 86-and-a-half.
05:05The Ducks are through this number in essentially every game they play.
05:09It's about Ohio State allowance.
05:12And while Ohio State does not often give this up,
05:16the scripts are a little bit different now with having Fahey out there.
05:20Even if Ohio State win this game, it is not very likely, in my opinion,
05:26that this is a fourth quarter where Rayola has to throw the ball every single play.
05:32So an Oregon team that's certainly capable of explosives here on the ground, Dave,
05:37I'm going to take my chances.
05:39They get one or two and get to around 100 rushing yards in this game.
05:43Yeah, I guess we have a few more minutes.
05:43I'll keep seeing those guys doing scene,
05:43but nobody can see me.
