00:22One of the great things about football is that no one knows for sure what's going to happen.
00:27Let's see what unfolds here tonight.
00:30I'm Derek Ray and joining me for commentary is Sue Smith.
00:33I'm looking forward to the first assignment for these two clubs in the group stage of the Conmebol Libertadores.
00:39It's Junior de Barranquilla against Liga de Quito.
00:43Yeah, and I think both sides will be looking to get off to a positive start.
00:46Three points today is going to be vital.
00:48That'll give them confidence to get into the knockout stages, which I'm sure they'll both be hoping for.
01:10The line-up then are for the hosts.
01:13Well, it looks like a 4-2-3-1 when they're in possession, may go to a 4-5-1
01:18when defending.
01:19You'd think the double pivot in midfield, they're key to protect the back line, but they also need to get
01:24forward to support the press.
01:26There's going to be plenty of threat from the wide midfielders too, I'm sure.
01:41This is how the visitors will set up today.
01:44Well, they look like they're set up in a 3-5-2, which looks quite defensive from the off.
01:49It'll be interesting though to see how the midfielders line up, if it's a flat three or one or two
01:54holding.
01:55However it is, it's going to be compact in there.
02:26It's going to be compact in there, but it's going to be compact in there, but it's going to be
02:29compact in there.
02:44And the referee gets this game going, every reason to believe this should be a cracker.
03:04Oh, that was a chance to give them an early advantage.
03:07Oh, he'll be disappointed with that.
03:09Maybe it just came to him a little bit early.
04:05Oh, thank you.
04:06So, I don't think it's overplayed a lot.
04:07You ze and Hari are, but there's going to be an early advantage.
04:47The pass was misdirected.
04:49Yeah, they'll be disappointed with that.
04:51No need to lose it there.
04:54Now Gonzalez.
04:57Beautiful pass.
05:01Well, as he hit that one, it looked as though it had a chance.
05:34Well, as he hit that one, it looked as though it had a chance.
05:37Good run.
05:38Very much in control of the situation.
05:43And watched all the way by the keeper.
06:09Good job defensively.
06:15Pushing forward on the break.
06:19Well, that's how to beat your opponent.
06:21And then some.
06:23Too easy.
06:24Far too easy.
06:25Went in strongly, decisively.
06:40He read the situation defensively and did his job.
06:51In a decent position.
06:53Oh, in for the chance.
06:54And there it is.
06:56The breakthrough.
06:57That will do nicely.
07:14Well, this is great.
07:16I really like the way he slipped past his marker here.
07:19And what a finish.
07:20He goes for power.
07:21It was never in doubt.
07:22He just looks so confident running through.
07:36One nil then.
07:40Corozo.
07:44Fernando Cornejo.
07:46Really pushing up as a team.
07:53To square the game.
07:58Oh, he's lost possession of the ball.
08:02Might lead to a chance.
08:06Just lost possession when it mattered.
08:09This could square the game.
08:11And that's exactly what has transpired.
08:14Now, that could be a massive turning point.
08:17And momentum is with them.
08:26Well, this is all about the press from the front.
08:28They go as a team.
08:30Make it so difficult for the defence to get out.
08:32And then once they win it back.
08:34They're so clinical.
08:35It's a lovely goal.
08:52So, back underway.
08:53Following the equaliser.
09:07Now, look at this.
09:08They might be able to cash in here.
09:16Taking one for the team.
09:18An opportunity to forge ahead from this corner situation.
09:45We'll take it short.
09:50And there it is.
09:52Two goals in a matter of minutes.
09:55Incredible stuff.
10:05Well, here's the replay.
10:07And you've got to say they deserve it.
10:09Piling the pressure on.
10:10Creating opportunities.
10:12And they finished it off well.
10:30So, the ball is rolling again.
10:322-1 the scoreline.
10:41And flying forwards here.
10:44They could level it.
10:45Oh, it's a super save.
10:47Well, I thought that was a goal, but it showed his quality there with a big save.
11:18Playing it in.
11:19And the keeper won't be complaining about that corner kick delivery.
11:23His ball all the way.
11:33Really clever pressing.
11:40Barrios.
11:41Could pose a threat on the counter.
11:46And credit is due for that good piece of defending.
11:53This could be the equaliser.
11:55And he's done it.
11:57Parity again.
11:58A magnificent game unfolding.
12:12Here we could see it again.
12:13And this is really good strength.
12:15He uses his body well.
12:16And once he gets a yard, he finishes it nicely.
12:19Really good composure.
12:44And the managers will now deliver their halftime team talks.
12:48We're at the end of 45 minutes in this game.
12:56Oh, in for the chance.
12:57Go on!
13:26Go on!
13:57So level pegging here, and it's anyone's guess how it's going to finish.
14:08Well-timed tackle.
14:19Well, gliding through.
14:21Counter attack brewing.
14:24But timely defending when it mattered.
14:32Marcelo Weigand.
14:40Regained possession.
14:54They're turn to have the ball now.
14:57Almost drilling their opponents even deeper.
15:00Genuine chance.
15:03Oh, had to intervene.
15:05Oh, I thought they were in there.
15:07Brilliant awareness.
15:17Cornejo.
15:36Cornejo.
15:38It's offside.
15:39Yeah, I think it's a bit of bounce.
15:40You've got to give him time to get back onside.
15:43Surely you can see what's going on.
16:03Nicely cut out.
16:06Well, an eye-catching piece of solo play.
16:13Chance to put them in front.
16:15And there is the goal to make it a hat-trick.
16:19Excellence in finishing.
16:20There for all to see.
16:33Well, we can have another look at this.
16:35It's a brilliant strike.
16:37He makes great contact with the ball.
16:39And the goalkeeper just watches it fly past him.
16:57Well, back on the way.
16:59And a glut of goals here.
17:013-2.
17:10Marcelo Weigand.
17:12The defenders know you can't really allow space like that.
17:16And a throw-in it's going to be.
17:21And the substitution will occur now.
17:31Last touch gives them a throw-in.
17:44Lastly timed tackle.
17:47Good conditions for the counter.
17:52Determined to keep moving.
17:57Chance to equalise.
17:59Oh, he wasn't necessarily favourite to win that challenge.
18:09Delightfully played.
18:11Menacing.
18:11A goal!
18:12Real excitement.
18:14A back-and-forth type of game.
18:16Now they're level.
18:19Go!
18:22Go!
18:24Go!
18:25Go!
18:26Go!
18:27Go!
18:27Go!
18:28Go!
18:28Go!
18:29sorts of pressure, but still manages
18:31to keep his cool and he finishes it off
18:33well.
18:38So on with the game
18:39and I'll tell you what, I'm not sure we could
18:41be entertained anymore.
18:45Just ten minutes remaining here.
18:53The prospect of settling the game.
18:58Well, a good tackle.
19:09And beating the defender.
19:11Well, problem solved in the end.
19:13Foul there. Free kick awarded.
19:16Well, they've been getting the substitute ready
19:18and now they will make the personnel change.
19:37And the defence regaining control.
19:40Oh, just nice and calm and composed.
19:43Make sure the attack never really got going.
19:46Well, they could break a pace.
19:48And finally, up a cul-de-sac.
19:52So two minutes of stoppage time here.
19:57And on the front foot.
19:58This is great theatre,
19:59but dealt with the threat.
20:04And so the referee brings the 90 minutes
20:06to an end, all even here.
20:10They take it short.
20:22So away they go again.
20:24The first period of extra time.
20:26And it's legitimate to ask
20:27to what extent mental strength
20:29will come into this.
20:30Looking forward to it.
20:32Really good challenge.
20:35And they'll get ready for the throw-in.
20:43Oh, great attacking play.
20:47Eyes on goal.
20:49And a goal!
20:50The golden goal
20:52to finish this contest
20:53once and for all.
20:55And no wonder they're celebrating.
20:57Pure drama here.
21:23They take it short.
21:31The golden goal is to finish this contest.
21:32The golden goal is to finish this contest.
21:33The golden goal is to finish this contest.
21:35The golden goal is to finish this contest.
21:36The golden goal is to finish this contest.
21:36The golden goal is to finish this contest.
