00:22I'm Guy Mowbray, joined for commentary by Sue Smith, and it's time to kick off the group
00:27stage of the Connobol Libertadores. How do you see this one going then, Sue?
00:32Yeah, I think both sides will be looking to get off to a positive start. Three points today
00:36is going to be vital. That'll give them confidence to get into the knockout stages, which I'm
00:40sure they'll both be hoping for.
00:44This is the home side's team today.
00:46Yeah, 4-5-1. Those five across midfield will really need to support the lone striker, though,
00:52ensure they don't drop too deep. Otherwise, he could be a little bit isolated up there.
01:06This is the visitors' team for today.
01:09Yeah, and it looks to be a 4-4-2, and you'd expect the two strikers to occupy both centre
01:14-backs.
01:14When they attack, they'll combine, and the wide midfielders, they'll get forward to provide
01:19crosses for them both.
02:23Off we go then, another 90 minutes of football begins.
02:39Now, here they go.
02:44But not the end result they wanted from an encouraging position.
02:59On he goes, terrific.
03:07Oh, it's in.
03:09An early opener to get the game going.
03:11Oh, it's in.
03:30Well, if we watch this again, it's all about the run.
03:33You've got to question the defending.
03:35But I don't want to take anything away from his superb individual goal.
03:521-0 then as we get started again.
04:06And it's been cut out.
04:07There's the turnover.
04:12Well, that's going to be a free kick.
04:31Oh, he's done well to get past his man.
04:33Oh, not quite.
04:35Intervene nicely there.
04:48Now, this has to be.
04:53It's in.
04:54Two to the good.
04:55That little bit of buffer.
04:56And it's just a matter of keeping concentration now.
05:10Another look now and you can see he's under all sorts of pressure here.
05:14He's done well, though, to fend them off.
05:16Really strong play and a good finish too.
05:32And the game restarts with the score 2-0.
05:45Now, I wonder where this is going.
05:46And that's a shame for them.
05:48Nothing doing.
05:50They could get caught out on the break here.
05:53The attack brought to an unceremonious end has to be in the book for that.
06:05And the referee has gone to his pocket for the card.
06:08It's a yellow all day long.
06:09It's a good decision by the ref.
06:11He had a really good view of the challenge too.
06:15And the pass is incomplete.
06:17Nicely won.
06:31Possession lost and won.
06:41And he's certainly not alone here.
06:44Beaten easily here.
06:50And two becomes three as he completes his hat-trick.
06:54A superb performance.
07:11Well, if we watch this again, you can see he's under all sorts of pressure.
07:16But still manages to keep his cool and he finishes it off well.
07:33Well, what a first half this is for them as the game gets going again.
07:38Lorenzo Melgarejo.
07:48Promising forward burst.
07:55Excellent reading of the game to win the ball.
07:58He's beaten his man here.
08:03Well, they wouldn't let him get away that easily.
08:08Oh, look at this.
08:09Away they go on the counter.
08:14In.
08:14Behold the defence.
08:17And the keeper does well to keep it out.
08:23Half-time is looming.
08:24What do you make of this?
08:25They're in here.
08:31Now to finish it.
08:34Oh, it's in.
08:35Oh, yes.
08:36What a way to silence this crowd.
08:47Well, here we can see it again.
08:49And he shows great ability to get past his man.
08:52And then he's through on goal.
08:53No hesitation at all.
08:55Just puts his foot through it.
08:57Rifles it past the keeper.
08:58It's a cracking finish.
09:10Off we go then.
09:113-1 the score now.
09:17Plenty of open space here.
09:19And it's opened up.
09:21Oh, against the post.
09:27And that's a decent save.
09:28At least certainly made to look that way.
09:36And the ball comes in.
09:38Nicely cleared from the danger area.
09:43And that'll do it.
09:44The end of the first 45 minutes here.
09:49Well, he's produced a masterful performance up to this point.
09:53Now, this has to be!
10:02The end of the first 45 minutes here.
10:03The end of the first 45 minutes here.
10:04The end of the first 45 minutes here.
10:05The end of the first 45 minutes here.
10:10The end of the first 45 minutes here.
10:11The end of the first 45 minutes here.
10:13The end of the first 45 minutes here.
10:13The end of the first 45 minutes here.
10:14The end of the first 45 minutes here.
10:14The end of the first 45 minutes here.
10:14The end of the first 45 minutes here.
10:15The end of the first 45 minutes here.
10:15The end of the first 45 minutes here.
10:15The end of the first 45 minutes here.
10:16The end of the first 45 minutes here.
10:17The end of the first 45 minutes here.
10:21The end of the first 45 minutes here.
10:46We're back underway, 45 more minutes to come.
10:52That's one player beaten.
10:55Oh, not quite. Intervene nicely there.
11:08And the hard work pays off. They've won the ball.
11:18And that's going to be a free kick.
11:24Read the pass well and cuts it out.
11:36Played in with that.
11:41And it's pinched.
11:42Read his mind there.
11:43Yeah, he anticipated that one well, didn't he?
12:08He's got teammates around him.
12:16This to get back into it.
12:17The effort's shut out.
12:20And that's won back nicely in a good area.
12:27Real pressure to get this away.
12:32A terrific tackle. The chance has gone.
12:38Well, we can catch up with the details on that injury now.
12:42And in behind the defence.
12:48Really good pass.
12:50Can he finish?
12:51There's another.
12:52And they're running away with it now.
12:54It's become a question of just how many they'll get.
13:07Well, look how he gets round his marker with a lovely bit of skill.
13:11And from that kind of distance, you'd back him every time.
13:14Cool, composed, and a simple finish in the end.
13:18And the game restarts with the score now 4-1.
13:33And the run goes on.
13:35What a chance here.
13:36And a magnificent save.
13:39Yeah, he anticipated the shot.
13:41Made himself big.
13:42That's great stuff.
13:46Over it comes.
13:48Big chance here.
13:49All work to do yet.
13:52And maybe not the best idea to go for the blast.
13:56Accuracy sacrificed for power.
14:07That's not going to cut it.
14:22Oh, that's really well cut out.
14:31Couldn't have asked for better here.
14:35Oh, fantastic save.
14:38Well, showing his class there.
14:39He closes the angle down.
14:41Makes himself big.
14:42It's a really good stop.
14:46Delivered into the box.
14:49And that's a decent bit of goalkeeping.
15:01Keeps it out and crucially keeps it away.
15:03Don't worry.
15:11Pull one.
15:13We'll run.
15:16Pull one.
15:19That's a good pass.
15:21Pull one.
15:28Well read.
15:31That's a good pass.
15:35Ball taken away and out of play
15:43Promising attack but only to a point
15:45Yeah, nice job there
15:47Read the play well and stopped it before it got dangerous
15:54That set up the chance
15:56And it's not here
15:58And they've scored again
15:59It's become a question of just how many they'll get
16:06Here we can see it again
16:08He hits it so cleanly
16:10Perfect contact
16:11And the keeper never really had a chance
16:13It's a fantastic strike
16:17And that will do it full time
16:19And the whistle greeted by cheers
16:21Beaten easily here
16:32Thank you so much for watching
