00:02 Sports Press Rick Harrow with the Sports News Minute
00:07 analyzing the potential impact of the NWSL's
00:11 selling of media rights, CBS, Scripps, Amazon,
00:16 and an ESPN package.
00:19 It's worth probably 10 times the $1.5 million
00:23 exclusive deal they did with CBS for their sports network.
00:27 And they're going to sell their rights,
00:29 may expire after 2027, so they can re-up again
00:34 after the Women's World Cup for the next deal.
00:37 They're talking about the increase in the value
00:40 of the properties, in the avidity,
00:42 in the excitement about women's sports.
00:44 And after the World Cup showing, this is really important
00:47 because the fees and the numbers may be astronomical.
00:51 The MLS did a deal at 2.5 billion,
00:53 but that's effectively sponsorship and speculative.
00:56 This deal includes rights that may generate
00:59 some significant revenue as well, short term.
