00:00 Ramadan is back and so are our beloved bazaars.
00:04 This year, Natasha and I have decided to visit two bazaars to see how much your favorite
00:08 treats such as murtabak, ayam percik and roti jala will cost.
00:13 Come with us to find out if your festive favorites are still as affordable as they are delicious.
00:19 Let's go!
00:20 I'm here at the Kampung Baru Ramadan Bazaar.
00:30 Let's see if we can speak to some traders on whether prices have increased this year.
00:34 Before the PKP, we sold for RM1.50.
00:37 After the PKP, last year we sold for RM2.
00:41 This year, we still sell for RM2 even though the price has increased.
00:47 We still maintain the same price but the profit is less.
00:50 If we sell, the price will go up and down.
00:53 That's normal.
00:54 If possible, we won't sell for too much.
00:56 We will sell for less than the usual price.
00:59 If the price goes up, people won't buy.
01:02 For customers, some say they have seen a slight increase in prices but they're not deterred
01:10 from shopping at the bazaar as their hike is understandable.
01:15 Last year, I bought a cup for RM3.
01:18 I saw the price of water has gone up by RM4.
01:20 It's the usual price.
01:21 But I understand that my friends are also traders and they complain about the increase in prices.
01:28 So, we have to understand from the traders' point of view.
01:32 Our economy is weak and the cost of living is low due to the fall.
01:41 We also opened a school yesterday.
01:45 People are spending a lot of money to open a school.
01:48 If we compare to last year, I think the price has increased a bit.
02:01 Almost all the items that are needed to run the business have increased.
02:09 So, the price of the items that we need to open the business has increased a bit.
02:17 So, it has affected our capital as well.
02:21 Our capital has increased a bit since last year.
02:25 Similarly, in Section 17, customers here say they too have noticed an increase in prices.
02:32 Some mention that this rise is burdensome for lower-income groups, while others don't
02:37 mind spending a bit more to purchase their favourite food.
02:40 It has affected the lower-income groups.
02:44 For example, the B40 group.
02:46 They have to go to school and celebrate Eid.
02:49 It's a burden for them.
02:54 I don't mind spending money on food.
02:57 I don't mind giving some people and even eating for ourselves.
03:01 But it's only one year, one time.
03:03 So, you enjoy it.
