03:36welcome to this episode i am dr fro and look we got a lot of things to get to here

03:40let's start with brian cage in the news he's on the smooth vega podcast and a lot of people like

03:48i'm a huge fan of brian cage i don't think he's been used his best ability in aew he had

03:53a great

03:53start to his career there solid run but since then ever since this don callis family stuff i'm just

03:57not a fan i think he could draw if given the right opportunity he did phenomenally well in tna

04:03former uh person who worked in wwe's developmental territory and once he left there was dealing with

04:11a lot of frustration and really had the goal of absolutely having to make it back to wwe and now

04:17he's a little more comfortable if that never happens aew has been great to him they give him

04:21the opportunity to do things outside of the wrestling business including pursuing his bodybuilding

04:26aspirations and he made a very interesting uh comment call it a discussion about ped performance

04:34enhancing drug use in his own personal training regimen and he very much was clear he has been on trt

04:40for

04:41quite a long time he's 42 years old he has used performance enhancing drugs but he also compared

04:47it to everybody else he said you know the number of people who are on trt and other things um

04:53made it

04:53very clear that his perspective on things was that yes you could take steroids but they don't instantly

04:59make you bigger faster more limber or more lean or any of those things what they do is you still

05:05have

05:06to put in the work it's the gains you get from putting in all that work that will be more

05:10substantial

05:11taking them and it's an interesting take now look he didn't address the potential health concerns

05:17related with steroid consumption he wasn't advocating for everybody he was basically making it clear that

05:22if this is a personal choice for him and um i don't know how you feel about that if you

05:28are somebody

05:29who considers yourself to be a role model for children versus maybe he doesn't maybe he's like listen i play

05:35a

05:35heel on television i have for so many years kids don't look at me as the role model they look

05:39at

05:39me as the villain and maybe he just isn't concerned with that um if you were a baby face character

05:44i

05:44would imagine you would probably want to be a little more concerned but he's he's not he clearly isn't

05:49hulk hogan one of the biggest baby faces of all time at the at one point um admitted to steroid

05:54use

05:54also so you know it didn't really did a momentary blip on the radar and then people moved on with

05:59it i think

06:00most wrestlers at the highest levels have done something at some point i mean bret hart has admitted to

06:05that and and obviously the ultimate warrior sting has admitted to those things randy savage several

06:11people have so it's obvious that it happens but kind of surprising to have like such a nonchalant

06:15conversation about it um let's get into some aew conversation because tonight is going to be

06:20focused primarily on aew starting with not yet aew but maybe maybe in the near future because ilia

06:28druganov his girlfriend who now goes by the name lady lee who used to be jintala in nxt debuted with

06:37ring of honor this week now if you're trying to get somebody to come into your company one of the

06:42best ways to do it is to hire their girlfriend um maybe this is a sign of things to come

06:47maybe it's

06:47you know uh the the tip of putting the toe in the door to see how she feels about it

06:52before he

06:53signed some like multi-year contract but if i was a betting person based on his size his fighting

06:59style and what tna or i apologize aew likes to do i have tna on the brain because it's thursday

07:05night

07:05and i just watched some of that um depending on what they they want to do i think he'd be

07:10a great

07:10fit there so i think maybe this is just the first step in getting ilia into aew um just on

07:16that tna

07:17comment real quick if you're tuning in to tna impact tonight on amc interesting stuff i i just

07:24gotta say i said on a previous episode last week how frustrated i get with when wwe aew anybody books

07:30the referees to look so stupid when you have outside interference in a match the referee's job is still

07:37the match it's not to worry about who's outside the ring so it frustrates me when i see these talents

07:42go into the ring and they are doing whatever it is that they're doing and um two people who are

07:48not involved in the match they're allowed to do whatever they want to do outside the ring and it has

07:54no bearing on the match it's like stopping the match because two guys get in an argument in the

07:59front row of the of the audience it's irrelevant in tna tonight and i said that last week for like

08:06raw when you had outside interference during um the women's championship match on raw like why is

08:12the referee care what's going on outside the ring with live morgan and and i'm sorry with uh roxanne

08:17perez and becky lynch they're not in the match and that's what led to live morgan pick up the win

08:21i know why you do it i just don't like the intelligence of it because i think it makes

08:26referees look dumb well tonight on tna impact they had two championship matches they had the women's

08:30knockouts championship as well as the men's world championship uh nick nemeth retaining over

08:35matt hardy but in the women's match zaya brookside you know defeating and i apologize i don't even

08:41remember her name she's the nomi um this newer talent she's only had a couple matches but they

08:45gave her a world championship opportunity courtesy of daria um and there's a moment where zaya

08:53brookside the knockouts champion tries to leave the ring take her championship belt with her and um

08:58she's essentially chased back to the ring um by indy hartwell who wants a championship opportunity

09:04and she keeps stuck in her and daria won't give her a shot um at zaya's championship so she basically

09:09chases her back to the ring daria comes out to yell at indy hartwell the two of them aren't in

09:13the match they can yell at each other fight with each other say whatever they want to each other

09:17all they want outside the ring they're basically spectators but the referee's so concerned with

09:22out there that they don't see the knockouts champions i have brookside hit no me whatever

09:27her name is i apologize forza something forza um who looked like she had on a generic pair of road

09:32warrior and shoulder pads with like glittered gnomes on the shoulder pads instead of spikes but

09:37anyways hits her with the belt and hits her so hard with the belt the belt flies into the corner

09:41where it's clearly in the eye view of the referee referee does nothing turns around it counts the

09:46pin now i get the spot but you got to be careful about this for one throwing the belt in

09:50the direction

09:50where the referee could clearly see it flies and to make it make sense the referee has nothing to do

09:56with what's going on outside the ring their job is their match inside the ring it just makes them

10:00look so stupid just my opinion so neither here nor there i've did my little tna conversation for the

10:07night let's get back to aew at dynamite we're going to get into dynamite in just a second but i

10:12just

10:12thought i'd throw in there that there are reports coming out that in the back in honor of rebel because

10:16this was the rebel heart dynasty dynamite show um for als and all that killer cross scarlet

10:24allison k gail kim christy hemi all in the back in support of rebel all in attendance at dynamite

10:31the only one thing that i want to take from this or maybe look too much into is killer cross

10:37and

10:37scarlet are not opposed to going to aew they really aren't and they've said made it very clear they've

10:42had conversations with tony khan in the past is this a glimpse into what may be in the near future

10:48he is the current mlw world heavyweight champion does he drop that title all of a sudden if he does

10:53i

10:54think that's because he's headed to aew i'd love to see killer cross on a bigger platform no matter

10:58where it is the guy is supremely talented he just never seems to get the right you know opportunity

11:04mlw to their credit has maximized his potential so we'll have to wait and see so let's get into it

11:09the rebel heart dynamite episode we start the show in the waiting room the former show that brit baker

11:15would put on and we've got brit baker and rebel who you know they're in the back i think she

11:19calls

11:20her reba to begin with but as they're in the back they introduce um hikaru shida and persephone

11:27it's obvious these people are all going to be aligned now shida had actually had issues in the

11:31distant past with brit baker all those years ago when brit was gone for all that time and she was

11:36like you know we used to hate each other but i hate my world more and obviously my world is

11:40their

11:40big target um that's who was defeated for the championship at the the uh all-in show um i don't

11:50know we'll have to see how that plays out because they're gonna have a match later in the evening

11:52so it's nice to see like the callback to the waiting room segment um it is hard to see poor

11:59rebel in the situation she is nothing but just just well wishes for her and i know this is just

12:05inexplicable thing that affects so many people it was just nice to see her get some tv time and she

12:09looks so happy to be able to be able to do something creative and we'll get into more of that

12:15in a little

12:15bit from there the trios match solid stuff the conglomeration versus swerve and the new level

12:23honestly if i'm being objective here i think the new level are having the opportunity to really

12:27spread their wings more in aew kind of unleash the handcuffs a little bit and let them do some

12:33higher risk things some more um things that come off as being more physical and more domineering

12:38i really like that it's a side of the new level i haven't seen previously not like this and i

12:44actually think this move may be far better than we realized was it great to have them in their company

12:48yes is it new matches and new dream matches absolutely but i don't think that's the most

12:53important part i think the most important part is is their wrestling style is going to be able to tap

12:58into things that we've never seen kofi tap into to austin creed's credit you know when he was you

13:04know consequences creed in tna years ago he got to do a little bit of stuff and uh when he

13:10parlayed that

13:11into the black machismo character he got to do a little bit more and stuff like that but this

13:15this was a much darker version of these two characters in the new level and i really liked

13:22what i had to see now at the end we we do have um lethal twist and the demand come

13:29out and listen

13:30i when people talk about ricochet in wwe and how they like never wanted to give him the mic i

13:35get it

13:36this was one of the worst promos i've ever heard the guy can't speak and he'll go online he'll get

13:40all

13:41irritated and post on x how angry he gets at people for calling him out for his weaknesses dude work

13:46on

13:46your weaknesses i don't know what to tell you take some acting classes or something but your promo

13:50skills suck and i love ricochet i think he's a phenomenal talent i just think he's a glorified

13:54whiner though all he does is complain and you're not getting any better on the mic so they come out

14:00lethal twist comes out um it looks like it's going to have a big throwdown then brodito and hangman

14:05come out kind of to make the save and i like what we saw but it really feels like this

14:12six-man tag team

14:13championship is very watered down right now not that not the championship but the the sea of

14:19characters that want to challenge for this thing and we just had a multi-team match where swerve and

14:24the new level won the titles i don't want to see another one of them with all four of these

14:28teams or

14:28something like that it's too many too much to have that every single time it's a trios championship

14:34means three on three not three on three on three on three like we i don't want to see that

14:38again

14:38that's almost what it felt like they were going for i hope that's not what happens if we want to

14:43do a rematch with hangman and brodito fine i'm okay with that they'll probably beat them because

14:47it makes a lot of sense and that really establishes them even more but yeah not loving the influx of

14:53all

14:53these trios teams i still want to call them six-man tag teams but whatever from their segment in the

14:58back uh steven borden sting's son with darby allen talking about what everything means darby doing the

15:04really nice thing saying how he's not the next sting he's the first steven borden i love that line

15:09but i'll tell you what man you take pictures of sting there's that famous picture with sting the warrior

15:13and the two other dudes that they were like breaking into the business with with some manager dude

15:18wearing like a blue pants a button-up shirt and a tie with like a newspaper in his hand i

15:22never

15:22remember what any of those other people's names are because they were never important enough in

15:25wrestling but uh in that famous picture if you put that side by side with steven borden man he is

15:29a

15:30spitting image of his father this kid is coming on strong real early so i think he has got a

15:35lot

15:35to offer the wrestling world and there are people who are saying he at his at this age he's already

15:40in

15:41a lot of people's eyes performing better than his dad did at that age so who knows how far this

15:45kid can

15:45go from there excalibur gave what was probably the hardest part of the evening to watch if you were

15:52watching the show live uh a tribute to andy williams the butcher after we lost him tragically sadly last

15:59week to um whatever this cardiac event was after hitting his head on a turnbuckle at the um

16:04the uh enjoy wrestling event in pennsylvania near pittsburgh it was really heartwarming you could

16:10tell that excalibur was really trying hard not to um break down but i i it seemed like he was

16:16anyways

16:17uh talking about the the quality of this human being behind the scenes no matter how menacing he was in

16:22the ring how wonderful he was as an individual and it was just it was really nice and it was

16:26tough

16:26if you tuned into my episode about that that horrible tragedy you know i feel very strongly

16:31that he was a great guy but to hear it from you know his peers that people got to work

16:34with him

16:35every week it's pretty powerful stuff from there we get our six woman tag team match which was set up

16:41earlier by that segment in the waiting room we get maya world thunder rosa and high end taking on

16:47um hikaru shida taking on persephone and taking on the returning dr brit baker to dynamite

16:54the match is okay but as soon as the people come out i know why high end is there she's

16:58there to

16:59eat the pin nothing about this match really blew me away except for the finish and what i mean by

17:05that is at the end of the match rebel in her motorized scooter comes down to ringside to give

17:11the glove to dr brit baker that she holds up and puts on when she puts on her submission hole

17:16with that

17:17that uh almost like a rings of saturn with a mandible claw seeing rebel come out and getting

17:23to be a part of that was awesome after the match after the win you see brit baker hop up

17:29on her lap

17:29in her scooter and ride up the entryway i thought that was absolutely adorable um it was a very special

17:35night for for rebel and i'm glad they gave her an opportunity not only to have the show in her

17:39honor

17:39but to be a part of the show we got the national championship mat andrade defeating beast mortos

17:45solid match always going to be and then it looked like the dogs are going to attack andrade will

17:50osprey comes out for the save i don't know where they're going with that obviously you could do

17:54osprey and andrade versus the dogs leading to that world championship match for andrade against osprey

17:59makes a lot of sense uh but osprey was coming out because he also had a match john moxley on

18:04commentary osprey versus david finley of the dogs osprey obviously picking up the win but

18:10love that i just love the fighting style this was great stuff every match that osprey's in is

18:14phenomenal it really is um i'm not going to weigh in on the rick flair comments about osprey's match

18:20against uh kenny at all in because i think osprey is one of the greatest talents in the history of

18:25professional wrestling even if it's not rick's thing but i do understand where rick's coming from

18:29uh okay i said i wasn't going to go into it i guess i will rick flair getting frustrated that

18:34people are saying that their match was the best match in history and flair saying when you could do

18:37200 broadways every year and 300 matches a year against somebody like he and rick steamboat did

18:44that you know then you could come talk to him but this wasn't about 300 matches or 200 matches this

18:49was about one isolated match and a lot of people feel like it was better than steamboat flair

18:54you don't have to feel that way i don't even know if i feel that way but you're this is

18:59pro wrestling

19:00you're entitled to feel whatever way you want about whatever match you want and for flair to get all

19:04puffed up and angry was kind of ludicrous if you ask me but i digress let's get back to dynamite

19:09uh from the osprey finley match we get to stephen borden and darby allen taking on mark davis and josh

19:14alexander again a solid match great performance by stephen borden they finish the match with a scorpion

19:20um a scorpion coffin drop finish and they pick up the win not loving seeing mark davis or josh alexander

19:29eat a pin i think both are much more talented than they're getting the opportunity to be but i keep

19:34saying that about a lot of people everybody can't always win but i also don't want to see everybody

19:38always lose josh alexander was a world champion in tna and in my opinion is on that level and he

19:44hasn't gotten even a sniff of anything at that level in aew mark davis was a tag team wrestler who

19:49really has broken through his show and he gave him the national championship i was kind of excited for

19:53him and now he's kind of been relegated back to being a lower mid card guy again and i don't

19:57really

19:57love that either so i'm not sure where to go with this but i'm glad to see stephen borden getting

20:01the

20:02the ring work in the experience his friendship with darby clearly growing greatly darby being the

20:07one who trained him we get to like what i think is one of the coolest segments of the night

20:11tecla

20:12talking some trash some profanity mercedes monet interrupting her some back and forth with them

20:18which i thought was really cool because obviously that's the match we all want to see and then there

20:22was some trash talking on willow nightingale who comes out and basically tecla retreats um so we're

20:27obviously going to see something with the three of them i'm okay with all of that i think the three

20:31of these ladies put on some of the best matches of the year every essence and it's now they're all

20:36in the same company you know tecla was phenomenal in her previous uh um position in japan willow

20:43nightingale has been amazing for years monet might be the best female wrestler in the world maybe all

20:49time so they should be able to put something really special together i look forward to seeing it

20:53from there a tables match kyle fletcher kevin knight versus the young bucks it is a great match right

20:59up till the end where ftr and um stokey hathaway come out and they get interference in there and it

21:05leads to kyle fletcher and kevin knight winning now it looked like there was going to be a four on

21:09two

21:09beat down you know but then we get steven borden and darby allen again coming to the ring and here's

21:16my

21:16thing could they be coming out just to even the odds yeah absolutely i don't think that's what's going on

21:21here i think if you remember sting's retirement matches when he was world tag team champion with

21:27darby allen and i think this is a callback you're going to put his son essentially assuming the role

21:34that he had when he retired and tank dave's tag team championships at some point basically letting

21:42in a weird way a couple years later letting sting like hand his tag team pedal over to his son

21:47you

21:47know it's not that but that's kind of the vibe i get and i'm not gonna lie i don't hate

21:52it i really

21:53don't hate it i think it's an interesting angle uh the only thing i was so surprised i thought we

21:57should have had some involvement by edge and christian or adam copeland and christian cage

22:01whatever uh but i didn't see that there are a few other stars i wish we would have seen on

22:05the card

22:06i don't know what they're doing with mjf right now i know he's got some time off but like what

22:09you know is he injured whatever uh but all in all you know dynamite shows are bittersweet for me

22:15because if you told quality of match i think they're easily a solid four and a half every

22:21week on five star rating but when it comes to storytelling the horrible promos by ricochet

22:27never getting to see teams like the hurt business um other stars who've come to the company that just

22:34basically vanish and disappear we don't even see them for extended periods of time that always makes

22:39me feel a little weird i where is the hurt business why were they on a pre-show on your

22:43biggest pay-per-view

22:43there and they're not even on television every week that's a problem that's some of your best

22:47talent and let's be honest they're not getting any younger you should use them while you can

22:51um so i don't know there's things they could have done that would have made this show better no kenny

22:56omega stuff like that but what they did do in ring was solid it was fantastic so you could call

23:02that what

23:02you will you could love it or hate it that's up to you but uh i'm not hating it i

23:07just think it could

23:07have been better in some areas but when it comes to rebel and this show is all about rebel

23:11what a beautiful tribute to her um what a beautiful tribute to andy williams the butcher i think they

23:18really hit it out of the park here i think it was pretty impressive here is the only criticism i'm

23:22going to throw and this is not necessarily at them this is and i hate to say it this way

23:26i don't think

23:27it's at my listeners because if you're my listener you're a rock star you're kind of fan like i am

23:31i

23:31suspect if you if not you weren't you wouldn't be tuning in but that being said i feel like uh

23:38i have

23:38seen a lot of people online complaining about wwe not acknowledging the loss of the butcher

23:43and i get it i am not disagreeing with you there is enough independent wrestling footage of the guy

23:49prior to aew that they could have put up because obviously his name got big enough recognition it

23:54was on tmz they should have said something i get it however flip the script and fast forward a couple

24:00more days and now we're on aew and i didn't see anything about superstar bill dundee or jerry oates who

24:06passed away last week also who i feel horrible i didn't even cover that's one more that passed away

24:11yeah i didn't see them doing a whole lot for that so i don't know and i get it maybe

24:15it's because it

24:15was a rebel show but like if you're gonna be mad at wwe for not saying something about the butcher

24:19who never worked for their company any differently than a legend like superstar bill dundee i don't know

24:25man it just it seems like a double standard for some of those people if you're one of those people

24:28saying that i i don't i can't agree um if you understand where i'm coming from i appreciate you
