00:02One of my co-workers has decided that she is the office manager,
00:05even though she's never actually been given that title or any authority over the rest of us.
00:11She tells people what to do, inserts herself into everybody's work,
00:16and acts like she's speaking for management.
00:19I've tried ignoring it, but it's gotten to the point where I dread coming to work
00:23because she is constantly bossing us around.
00:25So I finally talked to our boss about it,
00:28and he surprised me by telling me to have a private conversation with her first,
00:32and then he added something I wasn't expecting.
00:35If she doesn't back off after we talk,
00:37he's planning to officially make me the office manager.
00:41Should I leave that part out when I talk to her
00:44and just ask her to stop acting like everyone's supervisor?
00:47I feel like she might only take me seriously
00:49if she realizes that management is already considering replacing her imaginary position
00:53with a real one and not giving it to her.
00:58This is tough.
00:59This is crazy.
01:00Right off the bat, I am not a fan of this manager that they're talking about.
01:05This boss.
01:06Do your job, manager.
01:07That's what a manager does.
01:08He's saying to her,
01:10who sounds like technical equal playing ground,
01:13is this woman claiming to be the office manager.
01:15Hey, you go deal with it,
01:17and if she doesn't back off,
01:19then I guess I'll talk to her.
01:20It's like, I'm sorry.
01:22These aren't our children where you can be like,
01:25please ask them to share nicely,
01:27and if they don't,
01:28then I'll walk into the room and figure some stuff out, right?
01:31You're the boss.
01:32You're the manager.
01:33You're the person who's going to be making this real decision.
01:36You need to do something about it.
01:38So I kind of look at it as I'm standing my ground if I'm Kira and saying,
01:42listen, this may annoy me,
01:44but I don't want to work for someone who makes me do their dirty work,
01:47and I don't even have the position title,
01:49and what kind of dollars and cents are going to come with that real title change for her,
01:52maybe nothing.
01:54Right, because it doesn't sound like she necessarily even wants that job.

02:03This might be the boss's opportunity to actually get someone in that position without paying them.
02:10Like, oh, good.
02:10I'll finally have an office manager now who can handle all the stuff that I clearly am not good at

02:17Yeah, Jeff, I totally see that your way as well.
02:20This is the manager's job, not Kira's job.
02:22But her question is,
02:23should I bring up the fact that I might become the office manager?
02:28And to that, I say, absolutely not.
02:31Do not mention that, right?
02:32Because, because now it just sounds like you're, you know, it sounds so childish.
02:38That's not your job, but if you don't stop it, that's going to be my job.
02:42Well, if I'm that other person, then I'm never going to stop it.
02:45And who knows?
02:45I'm just going to keep asking that way because I don't want Kira to get the job.
02:48Maybe this terrible boss said something like this to her, to the other woman,
02:52and said, well, show me what you've got.
02:54Maybe we'll make you the office manager.
02:56You know what I mean?
02:56He sounds like such a, I don't really care what happens underneath me kind of boss,
03:01which is not a good attitude to have, but maybe he said stuff to her too.

03:11So you just don't have an office manager?
03:14Like people just think they're office managers?
03:16No, this guy is, the boss needs to go.

03:21He's afraid of any conflict.
03:24And just like you said, when he hires somebody, they're going to have to do all of the dirty work.

03:32So what do you think that Kira should do?
03:34Should she have this conversation?
03:35And if so, should she actually say to the person, hey, if you don't stop this nonsense,
03:41I'm going to get the job that you think you already have.
